Checking Trim size Quickly

Hi there, small thing, I've out up with it for years but it strikes me as weird that this may never have been requested or that there is no option for it.
In the preferences there is an option to always display the pdf size. Well that's great but as someone in prepress I'm not really interested in the media/cropbox size, I'm interested in the trim size. So ideally there should be a preference to set the displayed size to trimbox, not total pdf size.
So I usually go to Set Page Boxes to check the size. The dropdown defaults to Cropbox so I have to set that to Trimbox, and then I finally know if the trimbox is actually what the client/rep/whoever has told me the size is (sometimes it isn't). Is there a way to make that dialogue box default to Trimbox?
Of couse if I could set a preference to always display the trimbox size on any open pdf I wouldn't even have to go into that dialogue box.
So... Is there a way to solve either of those issues (recap: 1- always display trimbox in the bottom corner, not crop/media/whatever it's displaying 2- default Set Page Boxes dialogue to trimbox removing the need for one extra click - sounds lazy but it's irritating) already and I have missed them, or, should I put this in some feature request forum/list/whatever-I haven't explored how you do that yet...
Is it weird that no one has ever bought this up or am I unusual?

I'm also looking for a quick way to check the size of the trimbox. Currently my fastest way to check is with the PitStop Pro inspector. Open a PDF, alt-cmd-i. The inspector will default show its last used info. But unfortunately you'll need PitStop Pro.

  • Bleed Size, Trim Size, Type Size?  Help!!!

Hello, quick question, I'm normally a web designer but we have a couple of print jobs in.
I've been asked for the following.
    Bleed size, (281x216mm)  fine
    Trim size, (275x210mm) fine
    Type size......  (257x172mm) um...
Is this the area in which the type should sit....?  If so, that sort of screws up my designs....
    Thanks in advance, TD

I would interpret that Type Size dimension as the "safe area" in which all important information should be located, but it would help to know more about the project since the dimension listed is quite a bit smaller than would be generated by subracting the bleed allowance from the trim size (how you normally calculate the safe zone), and would suggest margin settings instead.

  • Change trim size in pdf?

    Hi,
I'm very new to working with pdf, so any help is very appreciated!  I have an 8x11 pdf document I need to turn into 6x9.  No matter how I set the printing, the file still reads 8x11, and still prints at 8x11.  How to I change the trim size?  If I crop anything, I just cut into the text.  Do I need a different program?  Thanks again for any help.

Thanks for the response.  I'm not the one who is printing the pdf out, it's being taken to a printer, so I'm not sure how it needs to be prepared. When I look at the properties of the pdf it says 8x11.  Does that need to change to 6x9 for the printer to print it out at the right size?

  • Trim Size in Properties?

We make PDF proofs for customers to proof read and to evaluate.  Many customers get confused when a PDF is sent with crop marks and they  think the finished size is the document size.
Is  there a way, in Reader, to show the Trim Size of a document? I know I  can change the Preferances so the green outline of the Trim Size is  visable but I would also like to know what the actual size is.
File/Properties gives the "Page Size" but it does not give the Trim Size.
    Any ideas?

  • InDesign - Export to pdf as trim size?

I am still new to InDesign, so I am not sure if I can use it to do what I would like to.
I just used InDesign to create a print-ready pdf to send to the printers for our comic book, which includes 1/4" bleeds.  I was wondering if I could use the same InDesign file and export to another pdf that does not include the bleeds, aka the trim size.  This version would be used for digital distribution... web, eReaders, etc.
    Any assistance is appreciated.  Thanks!

I figured it was easy, but didn't think it would be that easy.  Thanks Bob.

  • How to check total size of attachment stored in database?

    Hello guys,
Firstly I'm new to this forum & SAP Basis. Therefore i want to apologize if i'm posting in wrong area.
Actually I want to know how to check total size of attachment that have been uploaded in ECC.
From the current database size, how can i check how much space have been used to store attachment such as pdf, doc, xls and tif. I  want to know how much space have been utilized by those attachments from August 2010 until now.
FYI, those are PR, PO & MIGO attachments.
Where do i start? What are the tables to check? Which table keeps record of the attachment size? etc.. etc..
Really appreciate if you guys can give me some guideline.
    Thank you & Rgds,
    fafizah.

    Hi,
As such there is no direct way to do this but if you will able to find out which all table stores the attachment then you can find out the size of those table from database level.
    Thanks

  • HELP !!! How to check the size of an object in Photoshop ?

    Hello,
I'm using Photoshop CS 3 to design a website. I used several shapes such as rectangle, line or ellipse of different size. Probably it is a stupid question but I don't know how to check the size of an existing rectangle. I tried free transform tool that selects my rectangle but doesn't show its size. Then I made a selection with rectangular marquee tool but I see nowhere the size of the selected area.
If you know the name of such a tool please help me !
    Have a nice day !

Web images are all pixels. View at 100% at pixel view. that is your exact size

  • How to check client size in SAP

    Hi All,
I would like to check the size of production client so i can do system refresh to QA. I need to know how to check client size only not database size.
    Regards
    Atul-

    Hi
Yes, there is a report called YSTABSIZ which can calculate the size of the client.
    1. Login to the target client ( for which the client size to be calculated)
    2. Run SE38 , execute YSTABSIZ by selecting the table *
    3. Execute the report in background
Once the client is deleted, the space which is free can be used to fill in with newly added data
but if you want to see the actual space reduction in DB02,it can be acheived only with DB reorganization

  • Checking the size of the infocube

    Hi,
How can we check the size of the infocube with large volume of data? From the SAP standard practice what is the optimal size that an infocube can consist of data with out an impact on the query performance?

    Hi
When estimating the size of an InfoCube one must consider the size of the fact table and dimension tables. However, the size of the fact table is the most important, since in most cases it will be 80-90% of the total storage requirement for the InfoCube.
The following shows how to calculate the size of an InfoCube, including the dimension tables and the fact tables.
    Size of a dimension table
To calculate the size of a dimension table:
u2022     The size of one record of the dimension table can be calculated by summing the number of characteristics in the dimension table at 4 bytes each. Also, add four bytes for the key of the dimension table.
u2022     Calculate the number of records in the dimension table
u2022     Multiply the size of 1 record by the number of records
Assume that the dimension table indexes will take up as much space as the dimension table itself.
    Size of a Fact Table
To calculate the size of a fact table:
u2022     Count the number of key figures the table will contain, assuming a quantity key figure requires 9 bytes, a currency key figure requires 9 bytes, and other numeric fields require 4 bytes (or more).
u2022     Every dimension table requires a foreign key in the fact table, so add 4 bytes for each key. Donu2018t forget the three standard dimensions.
u2022     Add these figures together to get the size of 1 record
u2022     Calculate the number of records in the fact table
u2022     Multiply the size of 1 record by the number of records
Assume that the fact table indexes will take up as much space as the fact table itself. This is more index space than is usually required in most OLTP systems. In the fact table, many of the columns will be foreign keys with pointers to dimension tables. Each of them will have an index.
Add an additional 150% for temporary table space and aggregate tables. An aggregate contains both new dimension and data tables. A rule of thumb is that all the aggregates will be the size of the fact table.
    Hope this Helps
    Regards

  • Reducing the trim size of a Comic magazine in Indesign - Urgent

    Hi every one,
It would be great if any one could help me to solve this issue. We are a service provider, we have a comic magazine in A4 size in spanish language, we have the indesign source files and editable .pdf file in spanish language. our client want to reduce the trim size of the magazine to 200x280 mm and letter it in German language. If we take the source files there are lot of panels in a single page from 5 panels to 20 panels in a page (imagine a comics). if we do like that we have to reduce the size of each and every panel. Can any one help us in how to do this....Its very urgent.
The souce file is not lettered, the pdf file is lettered,. Please reply at the earliest.

One possibility might be to use the script you'll find here: InDesignSecrets » Blog Archive » Zanelli Releases MultiPageImporter for Importing both PDF and INDD Files to place the original ID file into a new smaller doc. Add the new text in the new doc on a new layer.

  • How can I cut a picture to a desired pixel size quickly?

How can I cut a picture to a desired pixel size quickly? e.g. 600x600 pixel? I know the "cut" tool, but how can I cut it quickly to that exact size without having to cut and cut, is there a tool for cutting to a specific pixel size?
    THANKs

Your "cheap" version of Photoshop is not Photoshop proper at all, nor was it just cheap.  It was actually a freebie, given away for free with some scanners and certain cameras.  It is as old as the hills, totally obsolete and unsupported.
We don't normally deal with that here in the Photoshop forum and I doubt many users here will be familiar with Photoshop 5.0 L.E.
Personally, I only have a faint recollection of having received bundled with my first scanner, and cannot honestly at this point tell you what it supported and what it did not.
    Sorry.
