Hello All,
Can anyone give me a checklist for installation of Financial reporting and web analysis. The checlist should contain the points/information that the installed FR and WA is proper or not. Please let me know if this this is the correct forum for reporting doubts, if not then plz guide me to the correct oracle forum.

Financial Reporting - is used to create high quality, high format reports - ideal for finance based use
Web Analysis - is used as a more interactive visual tool, with emphasis on exceptions/graphs and drilling etc
Interactive reporting - is one of the old Brio tools and is more of a BI reporting tool
There is a Query and Reporting forum at Hyperion Query and Reporting that might be useful to post on.

Unable to open reports and web analysis document in workspace
After installing reports and analysis 9.3.1, when I am trying to preview a test report on web or as a pdf preview I am getting these kind of errors.

When I click OK on this it says communication error which says <BR><BR>

Similarly when I try to open as pdf preview I am getting the same error.<BR>
Kindly advice.Try changing the idle connection timeout on your Web Intelligence Processing Server to 60 minutes (from the CMC).
If this doesn't work, please add a trace to the Web Intelligence Processing Server (add a -trace to the command line parameters of the server). and post the log for the relevant time period. -
Document integration for Bex reports and web reports
Hi,
I would like to attach few documentaion (like business usage of the report) for all existing reports in BW system. We are delivering all reports through Bex reports and Web reports.
Report user should be able to see attached documentation through "Document" property in Web report.
I have followed this way but not able to get on-line documentation for queries.
1. RSA1--> Documents >Meta Data> selected Object type ELEM> Import document> attached word document.
2. I enabled Documents property in Query designer.
3. When I executed this query in Bex, I could see document symbol for all characteristics & Key figures in all cell (in default view)
4. The same result with Web report (all cells are having document symbol).
But I dont want to display documents in defaul view, if any user wanted to have doucment info, then should click on "document" tab and should be able to down load / read on line.
Let me know why I am getting document symbol for all key / char, even though i selected "ELEM". I know we could direclty import documents in query designer, what is the difference..

Weblogic preventing financial reporting and RAF from being accessed
Hi all,
11.1.2.1 (linux)
Web logic has financial reporting and RAF in ADMIN mode which is preventing them beign accessed. All other components are fine. The web server config step succeeded and both products were listed as being configured. I logged into the weblogic admin console and saw all products had a status if RUNNING except for FR and RAF. I tried shutting them down by force and starting them but it restarts, after a minute or so, in ADMIN mode. I have checked the startup mode and it is set to RUNNING.
I have checked the weblogic logs and I can't see any indication of the cause.
Has anyone experienced this?

Financial reporting and balance carry forward at Line item level
Hello
We are in the process of implementing a new GL and using it to create Balance Sheet and P&L statements in BW.
We have installed the new datasource for GL line items 0FI_GL_14 and loaded the data to a DSO. Installed the 0FI_GL_10 (totals infosource) as well.
Also we created a custom infocube on the line items DSO and want to use it to report against a Financial Statement Version. In order to do that we created a
virtual cube with the FM and added the necessary Financial Statement Item and other key figures in the virtual infocube.
Now I want to know is it the correct way to create financial reports?
Can we load totals and Line items to the same infocube? Do we have to load totals to a different DSO/Cube or same Cube?
How do we address the Balance Carry Forward on the Line items cube? Since the balance carry forward is done on totals only, and the cube I created is a detailed cube is it possible to carry forward balances at that level?
Also can someone let me know what is the best approach to create financial reports and give drill down capability at the document level?

Yes.. SAP has delivered C10 for Totals and O14 for line items... No point in creating cube for line items i.e. on top of O14.
Balance carry forward can be done on totals only (that is how totals extractor _10 is designed), U can not do that on the Line items. Pls contact functional consultant for clarification
Best approach is RRI (Jump targets) for _10 report to _14 report to give drill down capability at the document level. -
Where to find tutorials for generating standard financial reports in SAP

I am an accounting major student who do not have any background in IT programming and SAP as well. I am taking a class about SAP and I have to do a project with the topic "Managerial reporting in SAP". Basically, I will have to do a step-by-step tutorials for the whole class about how to generate standard reports and customized reports from SAP, mainly financial statement reports and the analysis of those statements.
I have been searching a lot from sdn.sap.com but not found anything. Please help me to find the tutorials.

FR and Web Analysis reports will not run in workspace
I have configured both FR and Web Analysis and then re-configured workspace to pick them up. 'Reporting and Analysis shows up in my foundation metadata under workspace. All my related ports are enabled.
Database connection manager, import financial reporting reports, preferences financial reporting, tools/link to web analysis, do not appear in workspace.
get 'required application context analyzer is missing. please contact your adminstrator.' error when try to run a web analysis or financial reporting report from workspace.
Web analysis as a client with reports is working fine.
Financial reporting allows me to create a database connection, create a report, pdf preview from the client but web preview breaks with generic page not found error.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated.Hi,
You can use panel while creating reports and put all the graphs on it .
Panels color can be changed.

Books not updating for changes to financial reports
I have made some changes to financial reports which are contained in existing books. I have run the reports individually and the changes are correctly reflected. However, if I open the book containing the report it still shows the report as it existed before the changes. I have even deleted and re-added the relevant report into the book and it still makes no difference.

I have a Classic Planning Application on EPM 11.1.1.1.0
I have hyperion installed in a distributed env..(on three boxes..one running windows xp(machine 1), two running windows server 2003(machine 2 and machine 3.)
Machine 2 has ...Essbase Server and Oracle.
Machine 3 has ...Hyperion Planning,Workspace.
Machine 1 has ...EPMA and Calc Mgr.
Now i need to install Financial Reporting and analysis..
Can somebody please guide me as to which box should i go about installing it..?

Hi,
Is it possible to include Attributes in a Financial Report and subtotal by the particular Attribute by employee? For Example:
Column Definition has Account = Insurance Cost with a scenario version etc.....

Where Column 2 'Type' is an attribute assigned to the Employee in Column 1. Also what if column 2 was a 'SmartList' in Accounts dimension instead? Right now outline is a Smart List however getting it to Subtotal is impossible I think as the SmartList is an Account named 'Plan Type' thus it has t be in columns as the report has Account = Insurance Cost in the column definition too.....Hi
In answer to your first question yes it is possibe to report a dimension by its associated attribute. You will need to drag the attribute dimension and the employee dimension onto the rows for the grid. You may want to play around with whether the attribute dimension comes before or after the employee dimension to see whether there is a noticeable performance difference.
If I am reading your post correctly you currently want to have:
Column1 - Employee
Column2 - Attribute / SmartList
Column3 - Account (Insurance) > Jan
Column4 - Account (Insurance) > Feb
Column5 - Account (Insurance) > Mar
Column6 - Account (Insurance) > Q1
This will work fine for an attribute but if you want Column 2 to be a smartlist then you would have to put your account dimension into columns and that would mean that your smartlist would have to appear in only 1 period, i.e. if it changes from Jan to Feb then you would need more than one column to report it. It will also be harder to get a subtotal using a smartlist, with an attribute the subtotal will naturally be available by selecting the top member of the Employee dimension with your attribute (it will dynamically sum all members with the attribute you are calling).

- If you want to do a bulk export, then choose File->Export & select multiple reports & save to a .zip file when prompted. In this case, reports' folder hierarchy is maintained the same as in source.
- If you want to do a selective export, select the folder(where your report is present) from the (left)navigation pane. Then choose File->Export, select the report & save to a .des file when prompted.
For WAS reports,
you may export each report definition from File -> Export. I believe- it'd let you save as .apt file.
However, for both type of reports, you need to ensure the respective database connection file(s) are already present before you import the reports/documents in your prod. environment.

Workspace and Web Analysis - null folder automatically created
Hi.
We have recently installed BI+ service pack 9.3.1.3. Since that, we have been experiencing problems on Workspace and Web Analysis: in particular, a null folder is automatically created as users login to Web Analysis Studio.
Moreover, it is not possible to assign Web Analysis' shared preferences, because of that null folder. In fact, users' preferences always shows path to null folder: for example, Document Folder path points to /Users/null/Reports for every user logged in to Web Analysis Studio. By this way, it is not possible to save changes.
Looking at BIPLUS repository, I noticed that in HYA_DB_PREFS table, there is a record containing NULL value for field USERNAME. I was wondering whether this record normally exist in the table or it could be related to the problem that we are experiencing. Does anyone have similar record in his installed BI+ environment?

Since the installation from service pack 9.3.1.3 we've new problems on Workspace and Web Analysis too.
Null folder ist automaticall created as users login to Web Analysis Studio
And it is not possible to save changes in Workspace Preferences, except I'm login as Administrator
