Checksum & CD burning
I've had my Mac for 6 months, and it's great. I mainly surf the web, use email and do word processing. There's still so much I don't know about what most other users routinely do on their Macs, I'd appreciate any relevant info regarding my quandary.
I downloaded the TechTool Deluxe upgrade from Apple yesterday, and, as per instructions, burned the disk image to a CD. I used Disk Utility. At one point, I noticed that the indicator showed a verification process going on, whatever that meant.
I'd read in DU's Help that it was a good idea to run a CRC32 checksum on the CD and compare it with a checksum of the original disk image, so I did that. The resulting checksums of the two items bore no relationship whatsoever.
Nevertheless, I opened the fakey little TT Deluxe manual on the CD in Preview, and it looked and printed out just fine. Then I checked the preference settings in Disk Utility (which are still set to the defaults) and noted that "Verify Checksums" and "Skip on Remote Volumes" are both checked.
I should probably use the CD to install TT Deluxe on my hard drive, although I hope I'll never have to use it and I'd prefer to have the bare minimum of non-Apple software on this setup. Does the fact that the two checksums didn't match mean that the CD is useless? And if it is, could that be because "Skip on Remote Volumes" is checked in the DU preferences? (The CD player doesn't seem all that remote to me.)
Should I just try burning the TT Deluxe dmg to a new CD using the Finder instead of Disk Utility, or try it again in DU? It's no big chore, but not knowing exactly what I'm doing makes me feel a little twitchy.
Any advice would be welcomed.
Hi, a brody.
The Apple Care package came with TechTool Deluxe version 3.0.4, dated 2005. However I'd read comments that 3.0.4 wasn't working with later versions of Tiger. Whether that's true or not, I don't know.
The disk image I downloaded from the Apple Support website is version 3.1.1.
I have two more questions.
1. Disk Warrior 3.0.3 has a hardware test. I have that installed on my hard drive, and it seems to run o.k. on OS-X 10.4.8. Do you know whether DW's hardware test would be equivalent to the one in TechTool Deluxe?
2. I clone my Mac HD to an external drive periodically. Do you know if it's possible to run the DW hardware test from the external hard drive to test its own integrity? It's an OWC FW 400+USB2 enclosure with Oxford 911 chipset and 7200 Seagate Barracuda drive. I think DW's hardware test relies on SMART capabilities built into the drive, but don't know if the Seagate would support this. I bought it last July, so it should be of fairly recent manufacture.
(Coming from a PC environment, I hesitate to test-run software that has the potential to make a mess of my system, as Norton Security did.)

Burn-ed! Disc Image "write error"
Was having glitches burning dvd projects ("error multiplexing") so I created a disc image and was able to successfully burn two dvds before flaming, "burn failed because of a medium write error." I then ran a checksumming between burns, got a couple more done, then again with the "medium write error". What am I not doing?
I've been reading this month's postings re: iDVD burnings and I've gotten this far thanks to helpful submissions and responses. Two references in passing that intrigue me; how can I control burn speed (eg. x4 in Disk utility),and do you really need to take a break to cool down the laser?Thank you for your guidance. Maybe I'm asking too much of my G5/OS 10.4.8 to burn 50 dvds for a school. I could outsource or I could buy my own burner, I suppose. Or maybe I need new software (Toast?) or a new approach. While looking for a way to control burn speed (never found it), I opened up a process called "Convert," which is a way to "quickly copy many types of dvds." Would this approach work? Meanwhile I labor on. Have burned 35 of the 50 in fits and starts (4 burn, 2 fail, and so on). And, yes, I am using good quality Verbatim.
Thanks again for your help. Appreciate any other insight you might have on multiple burns. -
Solaris 10 x86 Installation Fails to Start
I am trying to install Solaris 10 x86 05/08 on a Sony PCG-K115S laptop. The issue I am having is that the installation hangs after printing the copyright information and does not go any further. I get no error message or status as to what the installation is doing.
I downloaded the dvd iso from sun website and verified the md5 checksum before burning the dvd more than once but the issue occurred in both dvds.
The laptop currently has XP installed but there is 30GB of free unallocated/partitioned space on the disk.
Are there any options I can active to debug the installation and see where and why it is stalling.
Thank you,
F.
Edit 1:
After some forum reading I activated the Kernel Debugger and verbose mode:
The installation hangs after this line is printed out:
echi0 is /pci@0,0/pci104d,8175@c,2
loaded modules: [uppc neti ufs unix krtld uhci hook genunix ip usba specfs pcplusmp cpu.generic sctp arp]
Does this strike a cord with anybody??
Edit 2:
After some more reading and investigation, I read that this could be caused by my USB controller not being recognoized or some USB 2.0 issues with Solaris 10.
I have tried to deactive the usb system with the options "-B acpi_user_options=2" and "-B acpi_user_options=8" but with no luck. (I got about these on some some forum, not sure if they are correct).
Any help is appreciated!!
Thank you,
F.

Edited by: Fergus on Jul 7, 2008 9:12 PMOK, got a little further. I entered the incorrect value for the acpi-user-options, the number should have been in hex.
So with options "-k -v -B acpi-user-options=0x8 -B install_media=cdrom" I get the install menu
1. Interactive
On selecting "1" for interactive, the install begins be halts quickly with an error:
NOTICE: rtls0 -- link down
ERROR: Unable to configure network interface
Exiting to shell. Is there any way to disable the configuration of the network interfaces?? I don't need them for installation...
Thank you for any help,

Checksum for windows.ISO created by MS mediacreationtool.exe
Primary question - What is the sha1 {&/or Md5} checksum for the "windows.ISO" file downloaded when using the MS supplied "mediacreationtools.exe"? I specifically want the checksum for the ISO resulting from selecting
Language: English {UK} Edition: Windows 8.1 Architecture: 64-bit {x64}
Situation - I am wanting to do a clean install of win 8.1 {build9600} onto a laptop which has a barely usable build 9600 already installed, damaged recovery partitions, and no OEM recovery media.
I have downloaded and used the Microsoft supplied tool 'mediacreationtool.exe' which subsequently downloads a file called 'Windows.iso'. I wish to verify the integrity of that ISO file to ensure it arrived correctly. Obviously I want to do that
**before** I repartition the HD and attempt to re-install OS rather than simply cross my fingers and hope all goes well.
I have searched for a checksum or other method to ensure the ISO is 'good' yet could not find one.
I downloaded a second copy of the same type of ISO using the same method with the same tool. I had hoped for the same checksum on both ISOs as a means of verification.
If the 'media creation tool' uses an 'automatic' checksumming/correction as part of the download process to ensure the integrity of the downloaded ISO then it appears to be untrustworthy given that the two ISOs it gave me, which should have
been the same, unfortunately arrived with different checksums.
It is obviously ludicrous to continue downloading >3GB files until I find a pair whose checksum match. I am frustrated by this situation.
I presume Microsoftland employs at least a few brainiacs who are capable of understanding what checksums are and how they can be useful. Consequently I am astounded that MS does not publish the checksums for ISOs officially obtained from MS, using
an official MS tool. Can anyone shed some light on why this situation exists and offer a useful remedy?Thankyou Shaon for your continued attention and help.
I had ignorantly presumed the MCTool was in effect a download manager which downloaded/checked the entire ISO rather than 'constructed' it. Your advice that it is not possible to gain a common checksum of any ISO created by the tool obviously answers
my primary question.
Yet the intent behind that initial question was to gain an understanding of how I can verify the integrity of the install media, downloaded using official MS method, which I intend to use as the basis for building the winOS. In this respect I am
hardly any closer to my goal of being able to verify/trust the media to perform a "clean install".
I mean "clean" in both senses of the word. The concept of SISO pre-dates Microsoft. The fact that the ISO doesn't contain enough s##t to stop it booting, or even setting up an OS, does not prove that the ISO or the OS constructed from
it does not in fact contain s##t which might unduly complicate processes down the line.
My enquiry is not merely an academic one.
I have been asked to fix an Acer laptop for a boy who for a few short months proudly enjoyed his new rig. The laptop came with win 8.0 pre-installed and all the devices worked as expected. He was a good boy and followed recommended procedure by
allowing automatic updates.
MS effectively coerced this kid into "upgrading" to build 9600 when they unexpectedly removed support for full updates on the breed of OS he was using. MS deceived him into readily accepting the installation of "windows 8.1 update
1" by strongly implying that it was, well... you can read, merely an "update" - not even big enough for an 8.2 moniker.
"Win 9" broke the kid's heart. He was suddenly the kid with the gimpy computer - no webcam, a wild trackpad and a schizophrenic network connection. Whilst still under warranty, Acer performed their magic and "clean installed"
build 9600, leaving the win8.0 recovery and original 'push button' partitions in place. This gave the boy an impressive 6 partitions but didn't actually fix any of his problems.
Acer then abandoned this kid by gutlessly feeding him 'professional scareware', blaming all his woes on malware. The frustrated boy, aided by well-meaning friends, over-reacted to this supposed threat and further trashed his system {as indication
- a year later I found it running two active AVs along with services for an extra two}.
Laughed at by his macbook using brother, the boy abandoned his MicroSelfish rig.
The pity about this whole saga is that even when half-broken Win 9 looks like it's actually a decent OS. If only it could simply be instructed to play nicely with devices.
I have found countless sad accounts of systems which, after 'updating' to build 9600, have exhibited strikingly similar problems to those which exist on the machine I am working with.
I find it interesting to note that there are comparatively few accounts of troubles after a "clean install". It isn't clear to me whether this is a result of people having abandoned their machines like the kid did or whether they simply
reverted back to builds 9200 or 9400 {"stuff the updates"}.
I suspect lots of people paid 'Danegeld' for either a new build 9600 install disk or a magic fix from a professional who had such a disk and performed a clean install.
I also suspect there were many who couldn't afford to pay and were subsequently {and ironically} encouraged by MS's actions to download the media from 'unofficial' sources. I now wonder if I should attempt to do the same - at least I could easily
verify the media with an officially published checksum and move on.
Microsoft eventually provided a tool which {it is claimed} can be used to facilitate a "clean install" of build 9600. I have used this official tool to download the setup media.
I do not have the option of reverting back to the originally installed {and no longer supported} 'build 9200'. Those partitions were damaged. The existing build 9600 was also badly damaged.
I have tested {OS independent} the major hardware components and am convinced the problems are all software related. I feel that doing a clean install of the OS and replacing a couple of wonky drivers would go a very long way towards resolving
all issues.
I anticipate that finding and testing the correct drivers may be a time consuming task yet the process should nonetheless be relatively straightforward.
I want to use "known good" media to establish a "known good" baseline for the OS before applying updates, drivers, and {lastly} other software. I am astounded that the seemingly simple task of verifying I am starting this process
with "known good" media with "known good" content has be so difficult.
I wonder why MS insists on a "near enough is good enough"/"suck it and see"/"cross your fingers"/"have some faith" approach by it's customers. Does MS management operate this way?
I am not encouraged by either the process or the behaviours of the MS supplied MCTool. The first ISO it 'constructed' for me will not even boot. I have twice burned it to dvd and tested. The MCTool gave me no indication whatsoever that it had failed
to construct the ISO correctly.
The second ISO it constructed for me does boot up and does install an OS. I have now used that install media multiple times to build the OS foundation. All installations have been unexpectedly problematic. To put this into context, I *did* expect
there to be problems with the operation of some devices.
When allowed, the OS self-activates using the BIOS-embedded key.
I have tried to inject 3rd party drivers before MS OOB ones. This did not fix any issues. It may simply be that I need to keep searching for the "correct" drivers {there appears to be a bewildering amount of choices}.
Looking through WUC I have gained the impression that MS has now taken the lead in providing hardware drivers {esp. when compared to the embarrassing filth which Acer calls "Support"}. So I decided to trust in the fully automated MS update
process to see if these updates can eventually lead to MS supplied drivers which *actually* work.
Frustratingly, most of the updates "failed". I have tried to apply these updates with and without Defender running. I have repeatedly used the MS 'fixit' tool which keeps telling me it has found and "fixed" problems. Very ugly.
I now wonder how I might, with a straight face, eventually advise the boy to keep his "win9" OS fully updated using the officially recommended method.
The machine is not ancient - manufactured in mid-2013.
Basic OOB MS drivers for webcam and touchpad work. Whilst I have not yet extensively searched for alternatives drivers for these devices, the OEM supplied drivers and software I have tried break them again. It may be that basic drivers will
be the best that computer geeks can offer the boy and that he will have to find other uses for his multi-finger gestures.
Regarding the frequent network dropouts I have searched for and {conservatively} applied a variety of "fixes" for alarmingly similar problems which I have found splashed all over the internet. I have used things like ipconfig/netsh commands,
changing DNS, switching off power management for the network devices, etc. None have lasting effect.
Throughout, I have tried to avoid introducing any major 3rd party software which might complicate investigations yet I was forced to install an alternate browser after IE {which I haven't used since IE3} absolutely refused to save web pages in
any format {incl. text}. Apart from suffering the same network connection issues, the alternate browser appears to work just fine.
This is 2015. "Win8.1 update 1" was introduced a reasonably long time ago. I am sick to death of having to do all this monkeying around to properly install MS's current OS and have it play nicely with the devices on the underlying machine.
I am especially peeved that I don't even know if any of the issues I face whilst trying to resolve the matter simply stem from flawed files on the install media. Even on the damaged OS I originally found on the machine IE and auto updates worked
fine.
This is fundamentally an issue of 'trust'.
At this stage of the game the peaceful win7 on my desktop machine will *never* be ugraded to another Microsoft OS. I would also throw this POS Acer/win9 away if I could also gutlessly ignore the boy who has already been shafted by big men in suits.
So I seek your further help, on behalf of the boy.
I do *not* here and now seek help with all the problems which exist on the machine. I particularly seek help regarding how to verify the integrity of the media used to install the OS.
I have no idea how the size of "install.esd" relates to determining the integrity of the hundreds of other files which also populate the ISO. Nonetheless I checked this within both ISOs I received {one now "known bad"} and both
matched yours for size. This method appears to prove nothing.
I don't seek clarity about the above process and will simply presume it was worth a try anyway. It did however lead me to another line of enquiry which may prove useful {Yet may prove to be wishful thinking founded on ignorance}.
Rather than comparing filesize, wouldn't it have been more exact to compare checksums for the file? Further, couldn't this entire issue of verification be solved by extracting all the files from their ISO container, checksumming the resulting individual
files, then comparing checksums?
{as a random example, I presume that "/boot/resources/bootres.dll" *is* v6.3.9600.16384 *is* "17.8KB" in size *is* datestamped "Thursday, 22 August 2013, 10:39:14 PM" *is* sha1 "3e8c4c5dcc9797f596dcca7334f405b217242190"
-- every day of the week, everywhere in the world., within any of the same 'type' of ISOs created by MCTool.}
Although the above method is more cumbersome than simply comparing the checksum for one file {ie the ISO} it would still be a relatively simple thing to do programmatically with regularly available tools - 7-zip/ISObuster etc to extract the
files, any of a number of tools/methods to gain an ordered list of checksums plus a tool capable of showing differences between two lists of checksums {eg. winmerge}.
By doing a simple comparison, any individual with an MS supplied ISO/disk could essentially verify the integrity of the contents {ie the parts if not the whole}. Obviously, this would involve having a reliable list to compare against.
I suppose MS could officially provide this data, even in a simple text file. Do you know if they have? {I can't see one within the ISO itself which would seem to be a logical place for it}.
If MS has not provided this data then perhaps the MS community could independently establish such lists. It wouldn't take very many comparisons before a reliable list could be published. Perhaps such lists already exist?
At a pinch, it seems to be that any two customers possessing what is ostensibly the same ISO to produced the same type of OS might alone be able to establish confidence in the *contents* of their ISOs if they compared the checksums of the extracted
files and they exactly matched.
Obviously, if the checksums of any of the compared files do not match then the data set is too small to establish which copy of a non-matching file, if either, is true.
Is the above reasoning and strategy sound?
Otherwise is there an alternative workaround?
Or are Microsoft customers best served by firing up a bittorrent program and trying their luck? -

Does anybody know why the md5 checksums of these files are missing.?!
Can you help or forward this issue to know may help me??
Thanks! How did you purchase your Adobe software? Did you purchase a volume license? If so you can go to https://licensing.adobe.com/ and possibly download the software and burn it to disc outside of the firewall? If it is a retail copy did you purchase the download version but are now looking to obtain a physical copy of the software?
The physical media does come on one disc and if you do download the software it will fit on a single DVD. -

IDVD burning-multiplexing-Disk Utility
Read the posts on topic and all suggest it is a media problem. I have had success with Verbatim but lately IDVD is not working. I have tried various file sizes, importing from IMovie and continue with the problems. I have even tried to "save disk image" and using disk utility i get the following "failed to calibrate" . I verified the image file and then it tells me "unable to verify as image has no checksum info to verify". I am getting the Multiplexing error in Idvd. I do not have a large HD(75) and about 20% free space.
You need to have about 20 to 25 GB of free space to burn DVDs, if I remember correctly. 20% free space on a 75GB HD is only 15GB, try freeing up about 5 to 10 GB.

It's a blank dvd and it doesn't want to write an .iso to it. I am in the optical group, and I ran it normally; didn't work then. Then I ran it with sudo and it still didnt work.
I have no clue what's wrong here's the log it gave:

Disk Utility verify of ISO burn fails, but md5 sum matches
Frequently when I burn a large DVD iso to a DVD, via the "Burn" task in OS X Disk Utility, the process results in a failure at the end of the verify process. However, if I check the md5 sum of the DVD against the published md5 sum for the ISO, the checksum matches. From this I assume that the DVD must have written correctly. Why does DiskUtility report that the verify failed?
System: IMac 27-inch, Mid 2011
OS X 10.9.5 (13F34)
Disk Utility: Version 13 (517)
Example: Here's the md5 sum of the downloaded ISO, which matches the published me5 sum for the ISO on the Centos website, and of the written DVD.
# get md5 of downloaded ISO:
$ md5 CentOS-6.5-x86_64-bin-DVD1.iso
MD5 (CentOS-6.5-x86_64-bin-DVD1.iso) = 83221db52687c7b857e65bfe60787838
# Centos site reports: 83221db52687c7b857e65bfe60787838 CentOS-6.5-x86_64-bin-DVD1.iso
# read DVD via dd and pipe to md5 to get md5 sum:
$ dd if=/dev/disk2 | md5
8726528+0 records in
8726528+0 records out
4467982336 bytes transferred in 63.966136 secs (69849183 bytes/sec)
83221db52687c7b857e65bfe60787838
DVD was written via DiskUtility:
1. File | Open ->select ISO from downloads folder
2. Select ISO in left panel of Disk Utility
3. insert blank DVD
4. click Burn icon (pops up Burn Disc in: SuperDrive. Ready to burn.)
5. click Burn
Result:
dialog with "writing track"... "verifying" "Unable to burn "Centos....iso." (Verifying the burned data failed.)its not your drive the problem its the disk if you use singapore produce disk there is a way to find out what kind of disk is made by you could have a disk of poor quality made by Ricoh, singapore disk dual layer disk of of top quality.
apple needs to update the firmware KA19 to be compatible to the Ricoh disk. -
Can't burn bootable DVD. Err: Device not supporting this operation
I'm trying to create bootable DVD of Lion. The following error message pops up after clicking "Burn" under "Disk utylity":
"Unable to burn "InstallESD.dmg" (The disc drive doesn't support the requested burn operation)".
Can anyone help?????
More background:
1. Running clean&fresh install of Lion
2. MacBookPro i7 early spring 2011
3. DVD drives's spec:
MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-898:
Firmware Revision: HE13
Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)
Cache: 1024 KB
Reads DVD: Yes
CD-Write: -R, -RW
DVD-Write: -R, -R DL, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW
Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, DVD-DAO
4. Media type (DVD) which I'm intending to burn it to: TDK +R, 16x, 4.7 GB
Media:
Type: DVD+R
ID: CMC MAG M01
Blank: Yes
Erasable: No
Overwritable: Yes
Appendable: Yes
Write Speeds: 2.4x, 4x, 8x
5. I was able to burn a DVD (to exactly the same DVD type) when doing the burn from under iPhoto and when launching the burn function in Finder ("right click" and select "Burn xxxx file to disc..."
6. BUT I am getting the above mentioned error message when attempting to burn the bootable DVD from under Disk Utilities. I'm following the steps recommended on various forums explaining how to make the bootable DVD drive. Briefly:
a. placed InstallESD.dmg on my desktop
b. launched Disk Utility. Verified (checksummed) the InstallESD.dmg file
c. Press the Burn button
d. The error message pops up.....
(The same happens with x8[max speed], x4, x2.4)Thanks for the prompt reply. What you say is correct - the installer deleted itself after the instalation.
I then downloaded Lion again (another 8 hrs went by) from AppStore (using the "trick" with pressing "Option" button which changed "Installed" status into "Install" button) and therefore I DO have the Lion instalation content (including the mentioned .dmg file) on my computer ready for burning. (BTW, I've managed to burn a DVD with it from "Finder's" menu. I guess though, that such DVD will not work as the bootable one. Am I correct on it?
So, the status is that I have Lion's "InstallESD.dmg" file visible in the left side of Disk Utility window - the "Burner" (in Disk Utility) just doesn't want to start burning a dvd with this file. I need some suggestions on resolving it. Thank you in advance! -
[solved] Tools for producing, burning and veryfing UDF BDs
Hi all,
I am currently trying to move the production of my BDs over from Windows 7 to arch. Usually I edit / store all my HD-related videos and burn them to a pure UDF-based BD25. After verification of the burned media I delete the local files. All this is easily possible under Windows by simply using ImgBurn (in essence DVDDecrypter without decryption module). Under arch things seem to be pretty limited when it comes to generating UDF-based ISOs for later burning.
K3B can generate and burn more recent UDF standard discs but fails to add files bigger than 4GB.
mkisofs can generate udf dissk when using the parameters -udf -allow-limited-size but I am not shure about the compatibility with other operating systems (e.g. when I take my external BD drive to a friend in order to watch a HD video with him).
Using udftools plus a loop back image as described here sound also quite cumbersome to me:
http://irishjesus.wordpress.com/2010/10 … -in-linux/
Aren't there other possibilities ? I am really close to wrap ImgBurn via WINE and it's CLI.
TIA,
D$
Last edited by Darksoul71 (2014-02-05 11:21:26)Update: OK, I have found multiple options
1) One can simply use ImgTool running unter Wine although automisation via script is a bit cumbersome as I experienced double path inside the GUI when being called via bash / WINE.
2) mkdufiso seems to be capable as well of generating UDF > V2.5 (which is critical for producing BDs which run in a BD SAP as it seems).
3) Simply use mkisofs with the parameters -udf and -allow-limited-size produces a perfectly playable BD which I can open under Linux and Windows 7 as well.
mkisofs simply produces UDF in Version 2.0 which is fine for me since my main aim is to store my video collection additionally to my HTPC.
As for the verification I am including a sha1 checksum file of all MKV burned to the disk as well. So I can easily verify the integrity of the BD content after burning by simply calling "sha1sum * && cat sha1sums.txt" inside the directory where the BD is mounted.

Disk Utlity can't burn .img files to disk
I'm newly digitizing old Beta tapes via a Canopus capture card. I've output my IMovie/iDVD projects to image files, but when I use Disk Utility to burn a DVD from the .img file I get nothing but verification errors and different checksums. I'm using Apple 4.7 Gb disks. The DVDs seem to play OK on my home Toshiba player, maybe with some stalling.
If I burn the iMovie/iDVD project directly to a DVD and then create a disk image file from that disk, Disk Utility burns successful copies from the .dmg file even on cheap-o Memorex disks.
I'm perplexed. This seems backwards. Could it be the difference between .img and .dmg files? Maybe I'm not using Disk Utility correctly in selecting/mounting/opening the image files...?I must say that Disk Utility Help is not very helpful.
I have the same problem on my new LaCie drive and the old SuperDrive.
G4 1GHz Mac OS X (10.3.9) IDVD 5.01, new LaCie driveMore info:
After further investigation I 'discovered' Disk Utility:Images:Convert in the Disk Utility menubar. When I converted .img files to .dmg they seem to burn easily and accurately. I wonder why this isn't documented.
I'm wondering what the functional difference is between .dmg and .cdr image files.

IDVD '08 Burning issues that weren't there with '05
Just last summer I made a dvd with idvd '05 using a theme with music on it. I burned about 20 dvd's and sent them to my friends. However, I just recently updated to ilife '08 just because I heard that you can download imovie '06 so you can still put special effects on your project. I am using an imac power pc on operating system 10.4.11.
However, I wanted to try the new idvd '08 and opened that project from last year. I had to tell it where to find everything and it all downloaded in the project menu. It would play fine when previewing it, however the music wasn't playing on the theme, it also had a yellow exclamation mark. When trying to burn it would say that there was a problem with validating slideshow, blah. So I read other people who had that problem. I got rid of the music on the theme page(which I don't understand that at all can someone explain that) and put more pictures in the dropzone (which I don't understand that at as well because it worked with only 2 in the previous version" and I also trashed the apple.com.idvd.plist while the idvd program was not running. I brought the program back up and clicked "burn" It goes through everything and then even says "writing a lead-in." and then it brings up a muxing error. Please, can someone help me?
I am dragging my movie into idvd from the movie list in idvd.
I have also tried a new project with and without themes and I still get the muxing error.
Any ideas?YEAH!!!!!! Couple of things OT. I figured it out but I didn't do it the way you said because I didn't see your response until now. I actually went up and clicked on the restore tab in DU. Then dragged the .img file into source and then put the blank dvd into the imac and then dragged that Icon into destination. Then I went up to images to "Checksum" and clicked on "crc-32 image." and then I told it to burn and it worked.
Obviously, all I had to do was just open up DU then click on the .img file and then (you said to click on the burn button? I don't have or see one on mine) went up to images and dragged it down to burn or just use open apple B.
THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!! it's ridiculous that you have to go through all that.
HOWEVER, have another problem that has happened. I have an external LACIE dvd burner. I tried doing the same thing using the same .img file and it would say "The device failed to respond properly unable to recover or retry when I tried burning it. Any ideas? Do I have to save it in iDVD again? and then try and burn it? Listen, I am exstatic that I am able to do it on the internal dvd.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! -
SHA512 digest/checksum of iOS App Executable doesn't match
Hi,
I'm developing an iPhone application, where i am checking the integrity of App Bundle files content at run time. To do this we first calculate the Checksum of files inside Bundle during Xcode build( by running custom script after build get completed).
When app is loaded onto the device we calculate the Checksum of each files again programmatically and compare the same with the one which is created at the time of Build.
My Checksum matches for all files inside the Bundle successfully except the iOS App Executable file??
Is the App Executable binary inside Bundle encrypted ? If yes, can we calculate the Checksum of Executable?
please clarify..
Thanks,The answer to this question was provided by a user on StackOverflow.
We got burned by some issues w/StageText when it first came out, I don't know if they have been addressed. A quick test (change the skin class to spark.skins.mobile.TextInputSkin) can tell if this is the case.
