Child downloaded $440 worth of in app purchases!  What do I do?

I set up up a child account on my old first gen ipad that was mine.  I opened up a child account in his name.  Than on itunes on my mac i set up a monthly allowance.  the monthly allowance showed up in his account.  But than he statred to download in app purchases with his id and his password.  Next thing i know about 2 weeks later, i get a fraud warning from my credit card that $440 worth of itunes was charged.  I looked into it and found on his account multiple $49.99 in app purchases for "gems"!!!!!  I asked him about it and he said evry time i tapped on the buy button, his id came up asking for his password so he entered it. 
Low in behold instead of dening the purchase because his month allowance was used up, it simple charged MY credit card that is associated with MY apple id.  HOW THE HECK DOES THIS HAPPEN?
This was not my sons fault, we both assumed once the credit was used up, it would deny his purchases.
What do i do?

You are not alone, my wife ran up £3,000 worth of charges doing this. However I was aware of what in app purchases could do and also that they could be turned off, but didn't do so because I assumed that she would know different. I accepted this is my fault and took it as an expensive lesson.
Apple's policy on sales of digital content is that all sales are final. If however you wish to appeal to Apple, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History on your computer.
Currently, if your purchase happens to be your most recent purchase you will need to click the large ‘Report A Problem’ button under the list of previous purchases in order to reveal the ‘Report A Problem’ link for your recent purchase. If your purchase is listed as a previous purchase use the small arrow on the left side of its listing.
Alternatively you can use the receipt email to report a problem.

    You can try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will refund or credit you : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption
    If it was on an iOS device then to try and stop it happening again, then (depending upon the iOS version on it) you may have a Settings > General > Restrictions > Require Password setting which you can set to 'Immediately', and you should also be able to turn off in-app purchases on the Restrictions screen 'In-App Purchases 'off').

    Very recently I downloaded an app called "Hardstyle.com" (I'm a bit of an EDM fan).  The app is used to pay for an download music.
    The way the app works is by using in-app purchases to buy "credits" which can then be exchanged for downloading various tracks in the app's store.
    However, the app only allows you to buy either $25 or $50 dollars worth of credits.  When I tried to buy $25 worths of credits, twice the in-app menu asked to confirm my purchase, to which I said yes, but the app itself crashed twice during processing.  However, on the third time I tried to buy my credits the purchase went through and I was successful.  The app still reads I have roughly 23 credits to my account after I purchased 1 song.
    Well now it's 3 days later and my Apple invoice has shown up and it turns out I was successfully charged 3 times while only having the actual things I paid for just once.  Now I wish to dispute the first two purchases I never recieved goods for, but all the Apple support processes I've encounted are nearly totally automated and I can't find a way to speak to a store rep to save my life.
    Can someone please provide me with some info/phone numbers, point me in the right direction, or can a rep contact me? 
    (It should be noted this app was downloaded from the Canadian iTunes store.)

    I recently download PocketMoney for my iPhone and while I like all the features it currently has, I really wanted to have the graphing part of the app. That is an in app purchase. I typically use iTunes Gift cards to make all my purchase from the store, but now with in app purchases how does this work?
    Is my credit card charged or is it just like buying anything else in the itunes store, my balance from my gift card is deducted first and when then that runs out it starts on my listed credit card?
    I really don't like this model for application purchases. It seems to me app developers can come in the store with really cheap or free apps, state all the great features, but when you actually launch and try to use the apps, nothing is really usable unless you fork over more cash.
    Love my iPhone but hate this new method for app purchases.

    First, what is the problem you are having that makes you believe you have malware? Be aware that, in my experience, the vast majority of people who believe they have malware on a Mac actually do not.
    Second, what do you mean that Safari won't "accept" downloading an anti-virus app? What are you trying to download, and from where, and what specifically happens when you try?
    Finally, note that there's a lot of bad anti-virus software out there. You need to read my Mac Malware Guide to learn more about the threats and how to protect yourself, and if you choose to use anti-virus software at the end of all this, you should use one of the programs it recommends.

    Not sure why you did this.
    You can change the e-mail address associated with an account.
    All purchases will always be tied to the account form which they were purchased.

    It has always beenv ery basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.  Use your backup copy to put everything back.
