Child pages

Hello,
I posted a discussion yesterday, but i'm still slightly confused on something. Apologies if this is a silly question, i'm a complete novice at using Muse so i'm kind of learning as i go along!
The site i'm making on Muse is a site which holds a catalogue of products. I have a page will all the brand names on, then master pages for the seperate brands with icons/links for the products, then underneath i add all the single product pages with the info/price/image on etc.
As each brand has about 20 products each, my Muse screen is looking slightly chaotic, and rather long horizontally in plan mode.
My question is - Can i add a Child page under a product (for another product) so that my screen isn't going to be really long? When i go to link the page which i've added under the child page the link looks like this > Ortofon (*brand page) > MC1 Turbo (*child page) > OM5E (*child page underneath mc1 turbo)
When customers click on the OM5E logo, will it take them straight to that product page? I'm confused with the MC1 Turbo?
I've inserted a screenshot below of what i mean -
Any help would be great

Just wait until next month. There Muse 5 will be published. It has the option to "collapse" those constructions virtually.
If you sign in to the Muse Beta Programm, (Help-Menu), you can use this feature at once.

  • Hyperlink and child page problems

    I have had no success in solving my muse problems.  I will restate the problem with more detail in the hope that some knows what I am doing wrong and can recommend solutions.
    The Hyperlink panel element is missing so that I cannot establish a hyperlink. This situation exists with two website I am working on, so I assume that it is a Muse setting which has to be set or re-set, in order to have the hyperlink option available.  I can turn the panel off/on by going to windows>control, but tuning the control back on, it still appears without the hyperlink.
    2.
    In the plan mode, I created a page with two child pages attached.  The plan view shows the site layout the way it was planned.
    However when I choose Preview or Preview in Browser the children do not appear.  One recommendation I received from this forum was to turn on “show all Pages”, but I cannot find that switch.
    The inability to use these two features has brought me to a screeching halt.
    The odd part is that the hyperlink worked fine until a couple of days ago, but when I went back  to continue work on the site, hyperlink was not there.
    The Child problem has never worked.

    Hi
    For the last question, the show all pages is located on the top right of the menu bar; (check on top left of the screen that you have indeed selected the menu bar) once menu bar is clicked, the blue circle with white arrow will appear, it is in there you will find MENU TYPE option, select ALL PAGES.
    NOTE when you selct menu bar, top left of the page has to confirm that you have selcted the menu!
    Hope this helps?

  • I NEED HELP! How do you Create a Drop Down Accordion Navi with the child pages remaining expanded

    I would like to know how I can create a vertical accordion navigation with some custom modifications.
    I need it to function like this sites vertical navigation. (link is below)  Click on the parent page "bedrooms" and it expands revealing all of the "child pages" then click on one of the child pages, it turns the font to Underlined and all the child pages remain exposed!  (it does not collapse after you click on a child page!!!!!!!) I need my site to do this as it tells the visiter where they are exactly on the site!     Please HELP ME!  Thank You!
    I would actually like mine to be a little more pronounced.  Perhaps having the link turn to BOLD Font indicating you are on that page.  And the main Parent page would have a diffrent background color.
    Site that has the Navi that I want to Mimic:
    http://www.fowfurniture.com/
    EXAMPLE: Adhesives IS IN BOLD indicating you are on that page. and it remains open it should remain open until you click on another parent page like Hardwood. (Then the Hardwood child pages (Sub Menu) would expand looking like the carpet sub menus/child pages.  All of the accordians i have found seam to collapse after you select a child page (sub menu) and the visitor wouldn't know where he is on the site...  Please Help Me accomplish this!
    Carpet
                          Repairs
                          Fibers
                          Adhesives
                          Tools
                          Pad
    Hardwood
    When nothing is selected it should look like this: The cell of "Carpet" is a slightly a diffrent color because it is in the "Hover"  state.
    Carpet
    Hardwood
    Tile
    Vinyl
    Linoleum

    Still need help, I could do it for a value lower. contact me at [email protected]

  • How to create a template and child pages using mockup designed in Fireworks

    I have created a website in Fireworks, and exported it to use in Dreamweaver.  How do I use the Master page in Fireworks as my template page in Dreamweaver?  When I bring in the .htm files from fireworks, it tries to bring in the entire page.  I have taken 25 hours of online training for Fireworks and Dreamweaver through Lynda.com, but there is not a specific video that tells you how to get your website from Fireworks into Dreamweaver if you want to utilize the Template and child page features.

    Use Fireworks to crop, slice and optimize images only.  DO NOT allow any graphics app to generate your HTML code for you.  This results in poorly formed code and rigid layouts that invariably fall apart when you attempt to edit them in DW.  Fireworks / Photoshop generated pages are for quick prototypes or design comps to show the client.  They do not work well on production sites.

  • Modifying a template resulted in all child pages with repeating editable regions - Help !

    Good morning,
    I have recently been appointed to update a website designed in Dreamweaver by an employee who is no longer here. I have read books on the software and practiced an insane amount which permitted me to update child pages, links, documents etc... however:
    I was asked to add a new button to an "non-editable" region of a template. Trying to do so resulted in a massive mess (with massive anxiety).
    Even thou the new template had all the same text and editable regions, all my pages look completely different from the template itself. The editable regions appears 2-3 times in different locations ex: Header is showed on the bottom, top etc... and the Editable region titles (EditableRegion1 etc...) repeat themselves as well.
    I really need help and not sure what to do, I have tried everything and I am only making it worse and worse. All I want/need is for all my html pages created with this template, match the template.
    Please note that this site is local, not online.
    Since I noticed on other threads that the code is needed; here it is:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

    padding: 0;

    /* Tips for Elastic layouts
    1. Since the elastic layouts overall sizing is based on the user's default fonts size, they are more unpredictable. Used correctly, they are also more accessible for those that need larger fonts size since the line length remains proportionate.
    2. Sizing of divs in this layout are based on the 100% font size in the body element. If you decrease the text size overall by using a font-size: 80% on the body element or the #container, remember that the entire layout will downsize proportionately. You may want to increase the widths of the various divs to compensate for this.
    3. If font sizing is changed in differing amounts on each div instead of on the overall design (ie: #sidebar1 is given a 70% font size and #mainContent is given an 85% font size), this will proportionately change each of the divs overall size. You may want to adjust based on your final font sizing.
    .twoColElsLtHdr #container {
    width: 46em;  /* this width will create a container that will fit in an 800px browser window if text is left at browser default font sizes */
    background: #FFFFFF;
    margin: 0 auto; /* the auto margins (in conjunction with a width) center the page */
    border: 30px none #C4C4C4;
    text-align: left; /* this overrides the text-align: center on the body element. */
    padding-left: 10px;
    background-color: #FFF;
    border-top-color: #C4C4C4;
    border-right-color: #C4C4C4;
    border-bottom-color: #C4C4C4;
    border-bottom-style: outset;
    border-left-style: outset;
    border-top-width: thick;
    border-right-style: outset;
    border-top-style: outset;
    border-left-color: #C4C4C4;
    border-right-width: thick;
    border-bottom-width: thick;
    border-left-width: thick;
    .twoColElsLtHdr #header {
    padding: 0 10px;  /* this padding matches the left alignment of the elements in the divs that appear beneath it. If an image is used in the #header instead of text, you may want to remove the padding. */
    background-color: #FFF;
    .twoColElsLtHdr #header h1 {
    margin: 0; /* zeroing the margin of the last element in the #header div will avoid margin collapse - an unexplainable space between divs. If the div has a border around it, this is not necessary as that also avoids the margin collapse */
    padding: 10px 0; /* using padding instead of margin will allow you to keep the element away from the edges of the div */
    /* Tips for sidebar1:
    1. Be aware that if you set a font-size value on this div, the overall width of the div will be adjusted accordingly.
    2. Since we are working in ems, it's best not to use padding on the sidebar itself. It will be added to the width for standards compliant browsers creating an unknown actual width.
    3. Space between the side of the div and the elements within it can be created by placing a left and right margin on those elements as seen in the ".twoColElsLtHdr #sidebar1 p" rule.
    .twoColElsLtHdr #sidebar1 {
    float: left;
    width: 12em; /* the background color will be displayed for the length of the content in the column, but no further */
    padding: 15px 0; /* top and bottom padding create visual space within this div */
    background-color: #066;
    background-repeat: repeat-x;
    border-top-width: thin;
    border-top-style: none;
    border-right-style: none;
    border-bottom-style: none;
    border-left-style: none;
    border-right-width: thin;
    border-bottom-width: thin;
    border-left-width: thin;
    color: #FFF;
    padding-left: 0px;
    clear: left;
    .twoColElsLtHdr #sidebar1 h3, .twoColElsLtHdr #sidebar1 p {
    margin-left: 10px; /* the left and right margin should be given to every element that will be placed in the side columns */
    margin-right: 10px;
    background-color: #066;
    text-decoration: inherit;
    /* Tips for mainContent:
    1. If you give this #mainContent div a font-size value different than the #sidebar1 div, the margins of the #mainContent div will be based on its font-size and the width of the #sidebar1 div will be based on its font-size. You may wish to adjust the values of these divs.
    2. The space between the mainContent and sidebar1 is created with the left margin on the mainContent div.  No matter how much content the sidebar1 div contains, the column space will remain. You can remove this left margin if you want the #mainContent div's text to fill the #sidebar1 space when the content in #sidebar1 ends.
    3. To avoid float drop, you may need to test to determine the approximate maximum image/element size since this layout is based on the user's font sizing combined with the values you set. However, if the user has their browser font size set lower than normal, less space will be available in the #mainContent div than you may see on testing.
    4. In the Internet Explorer Conditional Comment below, the zoom property is used to give the mainContent "hasLayout." This avoids several IE-specific bugs that may occur.
    .twoColElsLtHdr #mainContent {
    margin: 0 1.5em 0 13em; /* the right margin can be given in ems or pixels. It creates the space down the right side of the page. */

    I am not suprised, the previous employee tried to recreate the English version of the site in another folder structure and did not change all links and was still using a template in the wrong location.
    I think I created the mess by trying to modify the existing template's non-editable region in order to add a new button. When trying to update all the pages, the fiasco started.
    Do you think the best option would be to create a new template in the correct folder structure and apply it? Would it fix the current pages or will I have to fix them all manualy on by one?
    I understand it is difficult to deal with a newbie of my magnitude and thanks again.

  • Passing Dynamic Loop Data From Child Page To Parent

    Hi All,
         I'm trying to create something where when a user clicks a link on the main page, javascript opens a new window which querys a database and displays the results.  The user then selects the result they want via a form button or url (doesn't matter which) from the child page, which sends a value to fill in a form field on the parent page.  Sounds simple, but I can't figure out how to get the information back to the parent page from the dynamic form in the child.  I get a value of Undefined in the form field on the parent page.  I think its because I'm using the same name for each button with a different value, and javascript doesn't like that.  I'm not really that good with JS, which I suspect is why I can't get it.  I'll post my code below, and any help is greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

  • Put a child page into a region in a parent page?  (APEX 2.2.0)

    Hi, all,
    Thanks so much for all of your help previously.
    I want to have the entire contents of child page inserted into a region of parent page. The child page uses the "Empty Template" template and has an report region that uses the "No Template" template.
    The parent page has a region containing a single div into which I want to insert the child page. If I do this using JavaScript and htmldb_Get object, inserting the result of the AJAX request into the DIV, I get what I want. I can't figure out how to preload the page into the region.
    I've tried using the URL region, but I keep getting
    ORA-29273: HTTP request failed
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_HTTP", line 1674
    ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not existwhen I enter the URL for the child page.
    I can't use UTL_HTTP.REQUEST, either.
    select utl_http.request('http://myserver/f?p=100:100:12345678901234')
    from dual;I get roughly the same error. (I copy and paste the same URL that I use for the AJAX request. I can also type that URL into a browser and get the page.)
    I can get both Google's and Oracle's Web sites this way.
    My other option is to render the entire page to a string, store it in a VARCHAR2 / CLOB, and output it to the screen. Is there a way (maybe using WWV_FLOW) to render a page to a string?
    I want to avoid using DHTML when it's not needed and I don't think that I would need it to initially load the page.
    Thanks!

    Carl,
    (Sorry about the reply gap.)
    As best as I can tell, iframes can't auto-fit their contents without JavaScript. I've also heard mixed things about iframes and accessibility. The contents of the iframe also don't inherit the CSS definitions from the parent frame. (None of those may be good enough reasons to not use iframes, but I am totally unfamiliar.)
    There are workarounds for all of those problems, but I'm just as inclined to write some PL/SQL function that generates my page for me and call that from a PL/SQL region, since the page is so simple. It might take me less time to write the PL/SQL function and PL/SQL region than it will to make the iframes look pretty.
    Thanks for the reply!

    Well, that's odd. When I changed my authentication scheme from what I was using to the database authentication (the DAD one), the utl_http.request call works, as does the URL region. So the authentication is getting in the way. I wonder if there is a (elegant) way around that?

    Is WWV_FLOW.SHOW documented? In a PL/SQL region, I can call
    WWV_FLOW.SHOW(P_INSTANCE => '&SESSION.', P_FLOW_ID => '100', P_FLOW_STEP_ID => '1000');where 100 is my app number and 7000 my page number, but it only works if I have no other regions. Otherwise, the page entirely fails to render.

  • DW CS3  child page content doubled after template change

    Hello
    I am using DW CS3.  My question / problem is that the child page of a template has double content (two times the same) after changing something on the template.
    On the child page I am entering text into a editable region in side an AP div.  When I don't like the position of the text in the child I close the child and go to the Parnet (template) and change the L  and the T.  Moving it to a more suitable location.   When I update the site and re-open the child the content is doubled and not even one right on top of another but staggered.
    When I view the child page there are three editable region tages that show up in the design window.  doctile, head and Editregion3.
    I receive an error saying "there is an error at  line 46, column 139 (absolute position 1583) of D:\.....\index.html"; InstanceBegin tag inside editable region.
    Not too sure what that means or how I need to fix it.
    If you have any suggestions on how I might be able to resolve this problem I would be more than appreciative.
    Thanks

    Not really a solution, but I changed the z value from auto to 1000, and now I can move the APdiv around with out causing any problems.
    The only odd thing is before I was not colliding with any other elements of the page. So I am not too sure why it did not want to work on the same plane as the other elements.
    EDIT:
    Changing the z value did not solve the problem. It was a fluke that it worked for a few moves.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks

  • Unable to resolve stale data error in parent-child page structure.

    Hi Experts!
    I've got a master-detail page which consists of two VOs(EO based), Lets say
    1. MasterTableVO
    2. DetailTableVO
    This page contains two page buttons "Cancel" and "Apply" till here it works all fine & perfect[by that i mean creating, retrieving, querying etc etc.]
    But now i've created another page which is actually a child page of the above mentioned one.
    Here the user'll enter to view some default configured financial info or may also update the default settings manually.
    In this page, I've got only an advancedTable based on a VO(EO based), lets say
    3. PaymentsTableVO
    This page has only one page button "Ok" and which returns back to the parent page retaining the AM.
    All the three VOs are in the same AM. Functionally untill here also it looks fine, but when i finally apply the data it throws an error on getTransaction().commit();
    Error stack:
    OAF Error Unable to perform transaction on the record.
    Cause: The record contains stale data. The record has been modified by another user.
    Action: Cancel the transaction and re-query the record to get the new data.
    Plz reply ASAP.

  • Link to spry css broken in template or child pages

    Hi,
    on the following pages the spry menu is not displaying properly.  I did notice that in the template pages the link ref was missing ../ at the beginning.  Having added this and updated the templates and child pages (these were also uploaded to the server) I thought that would solve the problem.  But it doesn't look as though the change in the link ref has updated correctly.

    Any pointers, would be great.
    Second url:
    http://davidcoshdesign.com/nea/lighting_functional_wall.html
    This one appears not to be linking properly to the template?  At leats, I think that's the problem.  The template is in the correct folder and uploaded to the server.
    I have noticed on this site that when I make a new page based on any of the site templates, when I look at the coding in DW, there are references to the local site 'root' folder.
    Have I messed up the links to templates etc on site-wide basis?  Do I need to go into 'Manage Sites' to sort this out?

    No, just a reoccurring problem, for someone who constantly struggles witht the vagaries of html.

  • Template changes in editable region do not propagate to child pages??

    I have a website that was created using Dreamweaver CS4. I have copied the directory onto a machine running CS6 and set it up as a new site in DW. I want to make a change in the editable region of a template that feeds all the pages. However, when I make the change it appears to go through the motion of propagating the change across all the pages, but in fact - when checking 'detail' of the process - all it seems to be doing is identifying the child pages but not updating them. No changes occur. Any ideas? I did not have this problem previously, as far as I remember.
    Code snippet follows. I'm trying to add the phone number shown in BOLD below.

    Correct Ken.
    The content in editable regions of a DW Template are editable on a page by page basis in all child pages. Any content in an editable region in a Template will not propagate to child pages.
    Anything in a non-editable region of a Template can only be edited in the DW Template and those changes will propagate to child pages when the Template is saved.

  • Editable regions in child page

    Hi all.
    Dreamweaver 8.
    I have a template with two editable regions, Header and Body.
    I have a new page, and I want to apply the template.
    I am prompted to move the content to the new regions. Is my
    new child page supposed to have editable regions with the same
    name? If I try to do this, I am prompted to create a new template.
    If I apply the template and move all of my new content to the
    'body' region, it all disappears. If I move all of it to the Header
    region, it is all there. I've tried every combination and only the
    one works. I've seen a lot of discussion about having the regions
    named in the child page, but don't understand that bit yet.
    Ty in advance.

  • Child pages inheriting editable regions from template

    I have looked far and wide and cannot find an answer to this problem:
    We recently did a homepage update where the nested and/or second level template (index_template.dwt) was changed. Since much of the formatting was the same - I duplicated the original index_template and made all necessary changes. From this template two child pages were created for our US and UK site. Upon creating the page(s) from the index_template they are inheriting the editable regions, thus not having the ability to update when changes are being made to the template. I have tried multiple ways in an attempt to correct this - but to no avail. Does anyone have a clue how to correct this? As of now I have to manually update all 3 pages.
    BTW I am also a relatively new user who was thrown into managing our company website and pretty much doing a redo on the whole thing. Talk about a learning experience!

    My issue is when you create a page from a template they are not supposed to inherit the editable regions less otherwise marked.
    But that is not true. A newly created child page will inherit ALL content from its template.  But changes to the editable region contents in the template will NOT propagate to existing child pages.
    So, for example, if I want all child pages to have an embedded stylesheet in the head that is EDITABLE, my template would look like this -
    <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="head" -->
    <style type="text/css">
    </style>
    <!-- TemplateEndEditable -->
    All newly created child pages will then look like this -
    <!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="head" -->
    <style type="text/css">
    </style>
    <!-- InstanceEndEditable -->
    If I then go back to the template and change it like this -
    <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="head" -->
    <style type="text/css">
    body { margin:0; }
    </style>
    <!-- TemplateEndEditable -->
    that change will NOT propagate to existing child pages, but WILL appear in child pages created subsequently to the save of the template after the change.
    And by the way, it's always been this way.

  • Spry tool tip does not work in template or child pages within an editable region. Why not?

    Ok. so I am getting pretty frustrated. I take the time to learn how to use CSS and to create a template page for a Contractor Site (www.ContractorInsurance.net). The idea is to create a page that I can use for different classes of Contractors...right?
    Then I get all happy about being able to insert ToolTip onto pages to help the user. Great!
    LIfe to turn to Sorrow after nearly five hours of searching for a "eeking" answer.
    So what good does it do to have an Editable region to update if we cannot have the flexibility to insert a tool tip on child pages?  Ok so the fast solution is to what... Have a question mark image, insert another apDiv, name it toolTip_Not and provide it with a show=hide behavior?
    RRRRRrrr...
    This really sucks not being able to find a solution within a reasonable amount of time.

    I have tried thank you. However...it is still not working.

    The error message is "Making this change would require code that is locked by a template translator"

    If you have a look at the following simple document with a tooltipTooltip trigger goes here.
    Tooltip content goes here.
    you will notice that a couple of lines have been placed in the HEAD section of the document. When using DW templates, the HEAD section is usually not editable, hence the error mesaage. By default, your template should have an editable region in it just before the closing tag. It looks like this: <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="head" > <! TemplateEndEditable --> Dreamweaver should be able to find that editable region and insert the
    <script> tag there automatically. Because you don't have an editable region like that in the <head>, open the master template, and paste the code above just before the closing </head>
    tag. Gramps

  • Template do not update child pages

    I really do not understand why this happens to me all the time.
    I had this problem when I was using windows/pc with previous version of dreamweaver many years ago.
    I had the same one, now that I am using mac and dreamweaver cs4.
    In the past, I created a template, with one editable region. Based on this template, I created many pages.
    For some time, everything worked ok, every change in editable region of template forced all child pages to reflect to this change too.
    Now, this do not happen anymore(once again as I said).
    I cannot understand why this happens. 118 files examined, 0 files updated. Why? What am I doing wrong? Is this a bug in dreamweaver that lasts for years?
    I 've done nothing to detach the pages from template, ever. Why it stoped the updating of child file?
    Can anybody please help me?

    You say "every change in editable region of template forced all child pages".  This is NEVER how DW has operated.  It's only changes to NON-EDITABLE regions that are propagated to child pages.  I suspect that this misunderstand is what is causing you trouble, but if not, read this -
    Here are seven common mistakes that will result in changes not propagating from Template to child -
    1.  Rename the Templates folder
    2.  Move the Templates folder to some other folder level in the site other than root level
    3.  Move a template out of the Templates folder.
    4.  Make changes to an editable region of the Template (which will not propagate)
    5.  Assume that Template changes will be effected by just uploading the changed Template file to the server without also uploading the changed local files
    6.  Corrupt the site cache so that the link between Template and child page is broken
    7.  Improperly create your child pages by simply opening the Template, adding page specific content, and resaving the Template with an *.html extension rather that its *.dwt extension. (you can tell if this is the case by looking at the code on a child page - if you see anything like <!-- TemplateBeginEditable... then this is what you have done).  If you *have done this*, then recreate the child pages (in DWCS3) using FILE | New > Page from Template, select the Template and click CREATE.
    The 6th problem can be repaired by using SITE | Advanced > Recreate Site Cache, and the six others can be fixed by just not doing them.  Have you done any of those?

  • Problem applying Spry tool tips to child pages because the head tag is in a locked region

    I’m new to DW and migrating a site from GoLive CS2 to DW CS5. The site uses templates created in GL CS2. I have stripped out as much GL stuff as possible.
    I want to use the SPRY tooltips as a way to show captions for graphics that are on some of the pages (I used to use an Open New Browser window for that but I don’t have as much control in DW as I did in GL). But when I try to apply SPRY tooltips (or any SPRY widget for that matter) I get the following message:
    “Required links could not be added to this file because the <head> tag is in a locked region. To insert this content, open the template file ‘xyz.dwt’ and either unlock the <head> tag or add this content to the template.”
    I am not sure how to go about solving this problem. In the template there is an editable region for adding graphics but in the template itself there are no graphics or anything else to apply a tooltip too. Also in the child pages there may be more than one place to use a tooltip. So that suggests to me that I should not add a tooltip to the template. That brings me to the other option.
    How would I go about unlocking the  <head> tag in the template, without messing everything up?
    Or, should I detach any page from the template when I want to add tooltips then reapply the template? I am planning to ditch the GL template anyway and apply a DW template to all the pages anyway.
    Any suggestions as to what I should do?
    Yours faithfully
    Branko
    PS I’m using Mac with Snow Leopard.

    I found a solution.
    I just made a transparent PNG. Put it in an inconspicuous part of the template. On the child page I could make as many copies as I needed making sure I provided id tags for each use etc.
