Hi I really need some help if possible, My partners son is only 14 years old and has a skype account, I wouldn't usually have a problem with this but the fact is he's meeting strangers online and then talking to them through skype, I know this because he signed on to skype using my laptop and left it on by mistake. The things hes doing on camara for these random men is bordering child ponography. I got in touch with my service provider and blocked skype so he could no longer carry this behaviour on. My problem now though is that he's just got a new laptop which already had skype download on to it so even with all the blocks through the internet it still works. I know he's only just figuring out his sexuality but think this is a very dangerous thing to be doing. How can I solve this problem? I need to get his account deactivated asap... please help.

There is nothing you can do regarding the young person's Skype account - only the child's parent or legal guardian could request the account be removed/deactivated. As a suggestion I'd put the Text_io segments into their own begin - exception - end sub-blocks within the main code. This way if Text_io does raise an exception you can catch it earlier as it may be able to recover - That is if it is a text_io exception.

How do I setup an iTouch as a skype phone or facetime phone for children that live in another state with another parent?

Pretty simple, I'm a divorcee and would like to setup an iPod Touch as a facetime or Skype Phone for my children so I can keep in touch with them as they live with their mother in a different state. How do I do this intalls the apps needed and not have it tied to my account as for backup puposes they will need to do this at their mother's house on her computer. Can I gift an iTouch with Apps installed and setup? And no the Ex-wife is no good on setting this up so I doubt it would get setup properly if I just send her the iTouch and gift the apps to her account. I would just like to have it ready to go once they recieve the iTouch and not get erased or reset if they sync it to her computer.

There are different types of wireless encryption. WPA2 and WPA are the most secure especially when used with a non-dictionary password. 128 bit WEP is passable in most situations but not very strong. 40/64 bit WEP is extremely weak.
There is really no general "reliability" issue with any of them. Some devices aren't compatible with some of them.
If when we assign a password to the Apple Airport Extreme and for some reason the Netgear stops working, how do we unassign/take away the password on the Airport to get it back to the current setup that we know does work?

Yes, the Old Master file has a folder for each year where I find all photos from that specific year. I am attaching a screen shot of the file.
In the meantime i have managed to download all photos (it did not download any video files though in mpg, avi, 3gp, m4v,mp4 and mov format) to a new iphoto library. Unfortunately the photos are quite mixed and often doubled up. I ma considering to purchase iphoto library which checks all duplicates in iphoto. this will save me a lot of time. What do you think?

'Skype has stopped working' problem

Hi,
For some unknown reason my Skype has started refusing to work.
As soon as load it up it logs me in then briefly shows me my contact list for a few seconds before a pop up appears saying:
'Skype has stopped working
Windows is checking for a solution to the problem...'
After another few seconds the pop up changes to saying
'Sype has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.'
I had a look around on google and tried some suggestions but none have worked. I have uninstalled and reinstalled skype about 5 times so far. Twice using previous version of Skype but even they don't work.
Any help would be appreciated!

I did not set up a Skype Number!

What the heck???? Today out of the blue, without using skype or changing a single setting I suddenly start getting phonecalls - 97 of them to be exact from all over the world. In my email inbox I have an automated email thanking me for setting up my number (which I had not set up at all) and as if that wasn't bad enough, they withdrew $10 and then $25 x3 all in very quick succession on my autocharge out of my paypal account. What do i have to do to stop these calls and get my money back????

For changes on your email account, use a Browser to surf directly to the WebMail site of your email provider. Log in there with your credentials and you can change settings maintained by your Mail Server, including passwords and "out-of-office reply'.
If you want instead to protect your running Mac from snooping of all sorts, make a change in 'Accounts|Users & Groups' to uncheck [√] log in automatically.
Then in Security, [√] Require password after nnn minutes of inactivity or screensaver.
If you have other users on your computer, create an account for each of them.
For children who are non-Readers, put their picture on their account so they can find it easily. Non-Reader's password can be blank. The Admin can use Parental Controls to restrict their account access and limit their computer use, Web use, chat and email.

Does skype run through safari?

I'm really not technically minded so please bare with me! My parents are going on a cruise to the Caribbean from the UK and we were trying to work out the best way to keep in touch. So me and my dad (we both have iphone 4's) have down loaded the Skype app.
Now looking at the info about the wifi on-board the ship it says it does not support safari, only explorer and fire fox. Does this mean we can't Skype after all?
We have never used Skype before so a little unsure about how it works.

Great visual, but you are right.. Cruise ships make money on what you do once you get on the ship. They make little if you just walk around and eat the free food. They want to sell you everything, tours, liquor, shows, paid restaurants, etc.. and Wifi is one of them. You can buy a "package" on may cruise lines for in room wifi and/or in room Ethernet, depends on the age of the ship and the lines.
However most ships have a computer room with Wifi (for a fee)

Refund for unwanted subscription. Skype, STOP taki...

Over a year ago, if not longer, I cancaled a subscription with skype and havent really used skype since. Now that I decited to use Skype again I added some money to my Skype account and the first thing Skype does is add a subscription without my permistion. I want a refund for something I didnt signup for as well as an apology for wasting my time. No wonder fewer people use Skype.

They're usually pretty lenient in the case of inadvertent purchases by children. No guarantees, though, just as if your child was in a store and ate a bunch of food (in other words, something that can't just be returned).

Skype Crashing on Startup

so for about a month now, skype has been crashing on startup no matter what I do. Ive uninstalled and reinstalled it plenty of times and uninstalled some malware. even with the 7.7 update it still continues to crash. I need help!

Editing text in skype groups

Hi I would like to know if it is possible for a person to hack or edit the name of the person who has already edited someone's text in a skype conversation, as we are having problems finding out who has edited other peoples text. I know a pencile comes up when text has been deited and displays the name of the editor but is there a way that this can be changed? This is important as it pertains to children impersonating others and changing others conversations. Is it only the leader of the group that can do this or is there a way others in the group can do this as well???????

One of my fellow super users recently enlightened me on this:
No, the only person who can edit the text of a chat message, whether in a group chat or one-to-one, is the person who sent the message -- and that facility has a time limit of something like an hour. In other words, I can edit or delete my text for about an hour after I tap the Send button.
I have been assured that no one can edit or delete some one else's messages.
Edit, May 24, 2012: I defer to Claudius who has helped me learn more about the mechanics group chats.

Skype 7.7 crashing on Startup

so for about a month now, skype has been crashing on startup no matter what I do. Ive uninstalled and reinstalled it plenty of times and uninstalled some malware. even with the 7.7 update it still continues to crash. I need help!
