Chinese Character display issue on Coldfusion 10
My Company using Coldfusion to built an report platform and recently I upgrade our Coldfusion 7MX with Windows Server 2003 to Coldfusion 10 Enterprise with Windosw Server 2008 R2.
I copy the Code from the Old server to the new one, but I met the problem I couldn’t solve.
We have a repost that can enter, modify and view our SRM that has Chinese Character display request. Chinese character was display without problem when the system in the old server. which look like following.
once I move the code into the new server, I got the problem with Chinese Character as following.
This report pulling the data from SQL2005 with Windows Server 2003 R2.
Coldfusion code code was same and both version is access to the same database.
I ran all of the update included to install the windows MUI for Chinese character into the new server, but I still can't get the character display correctly.
I can view the chinese character website without issue but only to display in the report.
I contact with Microsoft tech support but they don't have an solution for me. please help.
Install windows server language pack: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=12250
Are you sure the Chinese is encoded in UTF-8? (It should be, but you should check the database field type encoding.) If it's simplified chinese it could be set to GB18030 and if it's traditional chinese it could be Big5.
You might want to leave off the encoding directive in CF and load the page in a browser then change encodings using tools > encodings to see what works.

'FTP_R3_TO_SERVER' Chinese Character display as u2018#u2019
I want to upload a *.txt which was saved as unicode .
I use the following code to upload file to FTP server:
call function 'FTP_R3_TO_SERVER'
exporting
handle = p_handle
fname = p_filename
character_mode = 'X'
tables
text = i_file
exceptions
tcpip_error = 1
command_error = 2
data_error = 3
others = 4.
But after upload, I find all Chinese Character display as u2018#u2019.
By the way, I use ECC6.0 to do development.
How can I let the Chinese display correctly?Hi
Try the following:
1) Changes in the GUI settings. for this:
a) go to SAP LOGON PAD.
b) select your server -> change item.
c) Go to Advanced.
d) On the next screen the default selection under the section u2018Encoding for up- and download is u2018Default- ANSI u2013for Unicode Systemsu2019
e) Please change this to u2018Default- UTF8 u2013for Unicode Systemsu2019
f) Click on OK and save. Then logout from the system if you were already logged in. The login again for settings to take effect.
Hope it'll help you.

Character display issue in French Web index tab
First of all, I'm working with RoboHelp 8.
There is a character display issue in the index tab of the web help. (See screenshot below)
The apostrophe, instead of displaying by itself, it has a backslash just before it: \'
In the hhk file, I started using the actual apostrophe ('), then replaced it with ' and finally tried '
(The htm files use utf-8 encoding). None of those options seemed to solve the issue.
Any help will be appreciated.Hi Steve,
Thanks for a very quick response. The problem is that the Title (name of the image filename is also the item number in Quote) and this is always not null. I am not sure how do I test whether the image is present in $OA_MEDIA directory or not. Does BI Publisher provide a way to find out whether an image filename exists in $OA_MEDIA or not.
If there is no such standard way provided by BI Publsher, then I guess I will have to write Java function that executes in the middle tier and returns whether file exists with that name in $OA_MEDIA.
Please let me know your view.

Chinese Character displayed as square box
I have been trying an opensourced application called Alliancep2p (could be obtained from www.alliancep2p.com) using JRE 1.6 on an English Windows XP Pro machine. The problem is all chinese input are displayed as "square box". Searching for a particular chinese phase works, only that everything is displayed as "square box". It looks like a font issue, though I'm not that sure. Is there anyway the default fonts could be changed, or to get the characters correctly displayed?
Note: I have east asian fonts installed, and the Java config panel can display chinese correctly.
I tried the same application under GNU/Linux (locale is UTF-8) and chinese input/display correctly without any problem at all. Does it mean that it is not the problem of the application, or?
Thanks for all the input.Hi,

Chinese character display problem
Hi
I can't display normal chinese character in a portlet or even
on a "button" in a portal server 4.0 sp1, is there any config
file I should modified or any suggestion? Thanks a lotsDavid,
You should read the WLS I18N documentation. In particular weblogic.xml for
WebApps contains a number of parameters that may be necessary.

Dear Adobe Community,
I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS6, and using chinese characters for my text. I've been using "Xingkai SC" however strangely, some characters when typed will display correctly as "Xingkai SC" but others will not, and will automatically switch to "Adobe Heiti Std." I don't understand why this is happening, and would like to know the solution so that all characters appear as "Xingkai SC" instead of typing chinese and getting two fonts together in the same sentence. Here's a picture of this below. (a) As you can see the ( Left to right) 1rst and 3rd characters display "Xingkai SC" but the 2nd and 4th characters are displaying "Adobe Heiti Std."Also even when I highlight the text and manually try changing the text to "Xingkai SC" nothing happens, and everything remains the same. Also another quick question. When selecting fonts what does the "O" and "TT" mean? Hopefully can get the frustrating character issue resolved.
(a)
(b)
(b)We use mostly English/Latin fonts so it's very hard to get someone who knows about Chinese fonts and Photoshop issues on a Mac. However I can give you something to go on.
You have to consult Chinese design forums, here is one to try.
http://bbs.blueidea.com/forum.php
TT = TrueType fonts OT = Opentype fonts. You will need to read up on those terms.
A suggestion for a good Chinese font to try. It may solve your problem:

Special character display issue
Hi,
I've been struggling with this issue for some time now and
have not yet found a solution. Basically I am trying to display the
letter 'á' in bold within a dynamic text field, where the text
is parsed from some internal script.
There is nothing wrong with the script as it works for other
special characters. I have embedded the correct glyphs, and even
tried all glyphs.
I have tried several methods of encoding the character in the
scipt such as Unicode Escape, Numeric Entity and URL encoding; no
luck with either. For other special characters I have simply
embedded the glyph and typed the special character into my script
using the charmap instructions and they have worked fine but for
some reason when I want to make it bold it just wont display. The
method I've used to embolden the text is show below, please note
this has worked fine for other characters and the bold version of
the font contains the glyph in the charmap.
"<font face=\"AvantGarde LT
Bold\">Lávese</font>"
This results in: Lvese (in bold) skipping the á
I'm starting to wonder if this is a problem with the software
itself. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to give them a go.
Thanks in advance for any assistance
P.S. my e-mail is [email protected]Pl identify which exact version of 10g, along with the database characterset.
Going by what you have stated, your database characterset is most likely WE8ISO8859P1, which does not recognize the single quote (or apostrophe) or the bullet point.
You will need to use a characterset that supports these characters - Oracle recommends AL32UTF8
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14225/ch6unicode.htm
If you can recreate this database, use AL32UTF8 then perform your conversion.

Crystal Reports XI R2 Chinese characters display issue(with VB6)
I have a vb6 program that interfaces to crystal reports xi using crystal active x report viewer. When i print a report with Chinese characters in it, they print end up printing as boxes, but when i open the report through crystal itself they print fine.
Is there some setting that needs to be set to allow the characters to display properly?Not a bug in CR, it's a limitation of Microsoft Framework. It has problems rendering fonts properly though GDIPlus.
Crystal Reports is a Win32 app, VB 6 and newer OS has issues. The viewer for CR is built into crw32.exe, the viewer you are using is an ActiveX viewer ( crviewer.dll ) and it can have limitations also. Mostly, CR XI R2 is unicode, using non-unicode fonts or non-UTF-8 type fonts are not supported. So some may work and others not.
Make sure the fonts you are using are True Type and that they are shared for all users. Depends on the OS you are using also.
Also, install the only patches available for R2, it may be resolved if you are not on the last updates:
https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009114712011E/crxir2sp4_fullbuild.exe ( requires and uninstall first so make sure you have your keycode, we can't give you a new one.

Help me :chinese character display between JDK1.3 and JDK1.4
My Application was builded in jdk1.3 under jb6,but when I switch my project's properties/paths/JDK to jdk1.4( the newest one),then rebuilder it,It can't display "chinese String" normally, why?
Thanks!You should check that the right font.properties file is being used in the path:
<jdk1.3.1_path>/jre/bin/lib/font.properties...
If you need to display Traditional Chinese you should replace font.properties with font.properties.zh_TW.
Make sure to keep an original copy of font.properties.
Also, check that jbuilder is looking at the right jdk.
JBuilder > Tools > Configure JDK > set up the new JDK
JBuilder > Project > Project Properties > select the new JDK
good luck!

Why can't you purchase an audio book on the Itunes store from an Apple TV?
