Chinese-character files when syncing

The last time I synced my iPhone with my iMac, I noticed an app transfer (I believe from my phone to my computer) with a file name that appeared to be Chinese characters. I do not recall downloading any such apps to my iPhone...should I be concerned? Should I do a restore? Do I need to do any scans on my iMac?
Any insight or experience would be most appreciated, as this is a new one for me...

Thanks again!
Two more questions while I have contact with a knowledgable guy:
1. How about transfering contacts and apps, etc.?
Can I just set iTunes on the new PC to not erase the iPhone content?
How can I get the entire content of my phone onto the new PC?
2. Since upgrading to iOS 5,  I can't sync my iPhone 4 to iTunes.
iTunes opens and says syncing, waiting for sync to start.
After a few minutes it says operation failed because sync failed to start.
I have tried several different USB ports, tried using the sync button in iTunes.
I have an old PC running XP that has had no trouble syncing previously and that handled the upgrade of both iTunes to 10.5.1.42 and iPhone to iOS 5 with no glitches.
Any ideas for me to try?
Thanks.

  • *MUST READ!!!* HOW NOT TO ERASE YOUR FILES WHEN SYNCING ON A NEW COMPUTER

Oh my GOD!! This is the biggest breakthrough since the discovery of fire.
Ever have a time when you had to erase ALL your files on your ipod/iphone/ipad because you are changing computers or your computer was destroyed?
    There is a  solution.
****This is needed by ONLY those who was syncing with the itunes on AT LEAST one category.(ex : music, video, app, books, pictures...) on the previous computer you were using.
If you had not synced with itunes on NO categories at all, and were doing EVERYTHING manually, you will not have any problems on a new computer, so you do not need this information.
Also, the ones who are trying to sync automatically(Seriously? you want to do that?) with itunes will not need this post. Do not read further.
So... the ones who are still reading are, 1. Have synced with itunes on at least one category. In my case, I was auto-syncing the application. 2. Have experienced enough frustration with itunes, therefore NOT thinking about syncing with itunes automatically.
ok. here it goes. When you go to a new computer, CHECK 'manage musics and videos manually'. And other categories(apps, pictures) should NOT be checked 'sync with itunes'. However, when you click apply, it will not work and require you to erase everything on your phone, even though you have pressed manage musics and videos manually. What I am saying is, even if you want to manage it manually, when you connect with a new computer, it will erase all of your data just for fun. Anyway, What you should do when this happens is, click yes. Then, itunes will start to erase all your precious info.
This is tricky now. 0.2 seconds after you click yes(yes, I will erase all my previous info), PULL OUT the usb cable!! HEH....
Then, when you put it back in, your iphone data will not have been erased, and the computer thinks that it erased all your files, and will give in to your command and follow your orders. Now you can manually manage your iphone on a new computer without erasing everything.
    I am so happy now.
***Disclaimer*** I will not take any responsiblitiy of the happiness caused by this post. Also, I will not take any responsiblity for any data-corruption or any other problems caused by implementing this method, although I am quite confident that as long as you don't take more than 2 seconds to pull the usb cable out after you pressed 'yes, i will erase', it will be okay.
P.S. If your life became better by this post, please say something below. Heh. Have a nice day.
P.P.S. Apple. Why do you erase everything on the phone when we decide to no longer sync with itunes? Is it THAT hard to make the option to let the user decide whether to erase the existing data on the phone?
P.P.S. Just a joke, but, I have once heard that the reason itunes is a memory hogger and take up so much space though it has really few options is because the programmer of itunes copied and pasted the source code 1000000 times.

Step 1. Backup your library regularly.
Step 2. After rebuilding/changing computers restore the backup.

  • ITunes keeps changing file locations to something wrong when syncing

I have my music stored on a Synology DS409 NAS which is mounted using afp as /Volumes/music. I also have another mount from the same NAS as /Volumes/photo. Whenever I try syncing my iPhone or an iPod, I get errors about some files not syncing because they could not be played.
On looking at some of these files in iTunes using Get Info, the location has been changed from its original (correct) /Volumes/music/xx to some random picture file under /Volumes/photo/xx
I know the original file was correct because I've checked the iTunes Library xml file for any occurrence of "photo" and found none before syncing. I can manually fix the errors by deleting them items from iTunes and re-adding them, but I then get more errors on different files when syncing next.
I used to have the iTunes server feature turned on on the Synology DS409, but I've turned that off now. I wondered whether it was down to the /Volumes/music file system disappearing occasionally (another issue!) but it has happened even when the music folder is mounted. Very frustrating!
As a last resort, I could copy the music on to the local disk in my iMac, but that defeats the point of the NAS really. It should work.
    Hope someone can help.
    Thanks

Click the icon to start iTunes and immediately press and continue to hold down the SHIFT key. This dialog should appear:
If iTunes opens normally close it and try again. Use Choose Libraray... to open the copy of your library on the external drive. Check the location of the media folder once opened. You can now remove the iTunes folder on C: without it reappearing.

  • AutoVue applet return HTTP response code: 403 for URL with chinese characte

    Dear All,
When i integrate with AutoVue Server 19.3 Using AutoVue applet into my web application it returns the following exception
java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code: 403 for URL: http://.....
when the file name have chinese characte, but when the file name have no chinese characte and all the normal
    Anyone can help?
    Best Regards

There are many possible causes of a 403 error. Is this error happening when launching the applet, or does the applet launch properly and the error comes up when loading the file? How do you have AutoVue integrated to your web application? Is it integrated using the AutoVue ISDK? Or are you passing filenames into the applet in a different way? Can you clarify again, does the error only occur when the user tries to open a Chinese filename?
Also, please note that AutoVue version 19.3 is no longer under Oracle Premier Support. If possible you should upgrade to the latest version of AutoVue, especially if you end up needing to log a Service Request to Oracle.

  • Retrieve the unicode from a chinese character stored in MS Access database

    Hi,
I have a table in MS Access database with chinese character. When I read it from my sql queries I get the "?" instead of the chinese character. When I calculate the unicode I get the 003F which is the unicode for the questionmark. How do I get the correct unicode of the chinese character?
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:odbc:myDB"); Statement stmt = conn.createStatement(); String sqlString = "SELECT Char FROM MyTable WHERE id=2"; ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery(sqlString); String s1 = rs.getString("Char");    // the s1 is the ? instead of the chinese character. byte[] b = s1.getBytes(Charset.forName("UTF-16")); int firstByte = 0; short anUnsignedByte = 0; String unicode = ""; for(int  n = 0; n < b.length; n++){     String temp = "";     firstByte = (0x000000FF & ((int)b[n]));     anUnsignedByte = (short)firstByte;     temp = Integer.toHexString(anUnsignedByte);     if(temp.length() == 1){ temp = "0" + temp;     }     unicode = unicode + temp; } unicode = unicode.substring(4); System.out.println("unicode: " + unicode);  //Here I get the unicode, 003f, for the question mark.

Apparently getString() is already applying the wrong encoding to the bytes which are in the data, so you can't do anything with what it returns. (This isn't surprising since it's Access you are asking about.) I suggest using the getObject() method and see what it returns. If it returns the same string then you are out of luck. But maybe you'll get lucky and it will return an array of bytes containing the correct data. Don't get too hopeful though.

  • How to put Chinese character in jar file by java.util.jar.Manifest?

Now I want to develop a simple package tool which can modify some property in manifest.mf of jar files, but the Manifest class's putValue method only can correctly save English character.why?
And how can I put Chinese character?
    the code is:
    Attributes ab = mf.getMainAttributes();
    ab.putValue("agent-Name", agent);

Attribute values can contain any character and it will be UTF-8 encoded when written to the manifest, according to Javadoc.
What makes you think that this mechanism fails? What do you see instead of the Chinese character? And what tool/editor/program you use to see it? I did not try myself, but according to the Javadoc there should be no problem.

  • Chinese character overlap in PDF file

    Hi guyz,
I am working on the issue on Chinese character overlap in PDF file.
There is smartform which is being used to generate ePaySlip(Comes in email) in PDF file format which contains Chinese and English both characters.
Now the issue is that at the bottom of the ePaySlip there is a Remark section which is maintained in Chinese and English both. However, the English sentences are proper withour any problem whereas the same thing in Chinese is showing as distorted/overlapped in few words.
Can anyone suggest what could be the cause and suggest some solution.
As when I checked in smartform those characters are hard coded and Chinese characters are shown as ###.
Please response, I would be really grateful.
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi,
there a different things to know.
I produce sapscript forms with cinese and english characters for frontend / backend and archiv printing.
    Please check:
Editor displays ###: You have to install the chinese language in your e.g. windows-system to display them.
Script: You have to chose the the font family "CNSONG" (customized for chinese simplified and LATIN).
Transaction I18N: May you have to set correct subfonts for the unicode areas (Cascading fonts, Standard is Courier).
You can print in different ways:
For archiv/PDF: Install the unicode truetype font with chinese characters for the pdf-converter.
For Frontend: Use the Frontendprinter SAPWIN or SAPWIN*CF (Cascading Font) to send it to the gui (note: SAPLPD does not support it, use the newer technology.....)
Backend printing: POSTSCRIPT is not yet implemented :-((
PLease note: What you see in spool / print preview is a simulation of the possible print, but backend print is not frontend preview!!!!

  • Same file copying up to 20x throughout songs, albums artists and genres, when syncing itunes to ipod. Restored ipod classic 3 times in lastest itunes with a new user but no difference. Anyone had this happening?

Just brought IPod Classic. When sync my iTunes library to iPod multiple files, up to 20times are copying in all music categories. Apple support got me restoring iPod then creating a whole new iTunes library in a new user on my computer. Did this, sync again, same problem. Anyone experienced this?

ps when syncing it jumps through steps 1 - 4 real fast, i seem to remeber iphone showing the number of tracks transferring and names, but i see nothing? then it sits on 5 saying "waiting for changes to be applied"

  • ITunes hangs when syncing large files to network attached drives, ideas?

I've done a lot of research on my problem and have come up blank so far. This is my setup and situation. I use a macbook pro and iTunes 10, but since I use a small SSD, I do not have much room to keep iTunes media on my disk. So, I use an external USB drive, formatted HFS+ J, accessible over my AirPort Extreme as a networked drive and am trying to keep my media there by setting my iTunes Media folder location to my "/Volumes/<drive name>/iTunes/iTunes Media" under iTunes>Preferences>Advanced. For the most part this works, but there are a few gotchas that are making this setup unusable.
The biggest problem is if I try to sync a large file (for example a 250MB app) with iTunes to my networked storage, the culprit almost always being a large iOS app in Mobile Application folder, iTunes will hang with the spinning color wheel, and in the toolbar shows "Not Responding". This also hangs the Finder. After this situation, I pretty much have to force quit everything and reboot my machine to get the Finder and iTunes back to health.
So, I thought that I would try keeping the iOS apps on my local drive and just move my music out to a network drive. But iTunes doesn't allow any granular configuration of the sort (big FAIL on Apple's part), and I've read up that iTunes does not play nice with symbolic links or else I would keep the iTunes Media location set to my local drive and symlink the Music folder out to my network drive.
So, given that 1) I don't have enough space to keep everything local, 2) trying to keep everything on NAS causes my machine to fail when syncing my iPhone or trying to consolidate my iTunes library because of large file transfers over the network making thing go insane, and 3) iTunes doesn't easily let you manage your library with symlinks, any ideas on what I should do?

i assume you are connecting wirelessly to the AEBS, correct ?
as a test, run an ethernet cable from your Mac to one of the LAN ports of the AEBS (you might want to turn off airport on your machine), then try again.
    does the problem persist ?
