Chinese characters displaying when running OUI for OAS SOA Suite 10.1.3.1.0
When I start up OUI, all the boilerplate text is in Chinese. My nls_lang is set to ENGLISH_UNITED KINGDOM.WE8MSWIN1252, and I've set nls_enabled to FALSE in the oraparam.ini file.
Given that I can't read Chinese, can anybody shed any light on what might be happening ? I guess it must be a windows setting somewhere - the regional options for Windows is set to English. The machine I'm using is XP Professional SP2.
Thoughts anyone ?
Thanks
Okay, I updated everything but it's still not working:

Database Connection Information for OAS SOA suite 10.1.3.1.0
Hi!
I'm having a bit of trouble that I hope you can please help with...
I've just installed oracle database and am now attempting to install oracle application server.
Unfortunately everytime I attempt the install I receive a:
"Install cannot connect to the database located at:
localhost:1522
Please ensure tha tthe hostname, port and service name are correct and that the database and its listener at this location are up and running."
I have tried every possible combination I can think of for the Database Connection Information, including:
127.0.0.1:1522:orasusdb
localhost:1522:orasusdb
127.0.0.1:1521:orasusdb
localhost:1521.orasusdb
127.0.0.1:1522:orasusdb.DOMAIN
localhost:1522:orasusdb.DOMAIN
127.0.0.1:1521:orasusdb.DOMAIN
localhost:1521.orasusdb.DOMAIN
and even all the combinations above with "10.6.0.74" in place of 'localhost' as when I compelted the database installation I was given the following url to access isqlplus:
http://10.6.0.74:5560/isqlplus
Which doesn't work...
But this address:
http://localhost:5560/isqlplus/
does work...

Chinese characters scrambled when loading from DS to BW
Hi, I've been pulling my hair out with this issue.
I have a flat file containing Chinese text. When I load this in BW using 'FLATFILE' as a source system, it works fine. BW shows the correct Chinese characters.
When I do the same load using BODI, I get funny characters.
When I use BODI to load from one flat file into another flat file, the Chinese characters remain correct.
What do I need to do to make sure I get the right Chinese characters in BW when loading from BODI?
BODI is installed on Unix on Oracle 10.
I run the jobs as batch processes.
The dsconfig.txt has got:
AL_Engine=<default>_<default>.<default>
There are no locale settings in al_env.sh
BW target is UTF-8 codepage.
File codepage is BIG5-HKSCS
BODI is set up as a Unicode system in SAP BW.
When loading flat file to flat file, I get a message:
DATAFLOW: The specified locale <eng_gb.iso-8859-1> has been coerced to <Unicode (UTF-16)
because the datastore <TWIN_FF_CUSTOMER_LOCAL> obtains data in <BIG5-HKSCS> codepage.
JOB: Initializing transcoder for datastore <TWIN_FF_CUSTOMER_LOCAL> to transcode between
engine codepage<Unicode (UTF-16)> and datastore codepage <BIG5-HKSCS>
When loading to BW the messages are almost the same, but now the last step in UTF-16 to UTF-8.
I read the wiki post which definitely helped me to understand the rationale behind code page, but now I ran out of ideas what else to check ( http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/Multiple+Codepages )
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Jan.Hi all. Thanks for the Inputs. This is what I got when I clicked on the Details Tab of the Monitor....
Error when transferring data; communication error when analyzing
Diagnosis
Data packages or InfoPackages are missing in BI but there were no apparent processing errors in the source system. It is therefore probable that there was an error in the data transfer.
The analysis tried to read the ALE outbox of the source system. This lead to error .
It is possible that there is no connection to the source system.
Procedure
Check the TRFC overview in the source system.
Check the connection to the source system for errors and check the authorizations and profiles of the remote user in both the BI and source systems.
Check th ALE outbox of the source system for IDocs that have not been updated. -

Edited by: Chris Xu on Oct 31, 2008 6:51 AMHi Chirs,
I am facing the same problem but i am using c sharp and this is a windows application.
I tried to change the CodePage attribute by simply setting connection.codepage = "8040";
But i get an exception.
attempted to read or write protected memory.
I cant seem to change this. What should i do. Also do we have to set this at the point of connecting to the Sap system or when i'm calling the RFC. I tried both instances but none worked. Could you please help me out.
i am using VS 2008.
Thanks,

IP19 no Chinese characters displayed
Dear all,
When I logon in Chinese and execute the transaction IP19 (graphical) then I do not get Chinese characters displayed. (see attachment for the strange result).
Does anyone has a solution for this?
Kind regards,
LauraDear Maria,
In the English login, the title is appearing normal but the Chinese characters are not displayed. See screenshot.

How can I use custom WLST commands for Oracle SOA Suite in Weblogic
Hi There,
I'm trying to view and search the weblogic log files using WLST on a Solaris/Unix system.
I have come across this "custom WLST commands for Oracle SOA Suite" and thought of using the custom logging commands to get my task done.
However, my WLST shell is not recognizing the commands and giving me the NameError!
wls:/devDomain1/domainRuntime> listLogs()
Traceback (innermost last):
File "<console>", line 1, in ?
NameError: listLogs
I tried the commands listLogs, displayLogs, getLogLevel & setLogLevel but in vain!
I have followed the instructions as per the oracle recommendation of using Custom WLST commands (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E29597_01/core.1111/e10105/getstart.htm#ASADM10692) as below
- Launched the WLST shell from Oracle Home.
cd ORACLE_HOME/common/bin
./wlst.sh
- Tried to run the listLogs command from domainRuntime()
I would like to know if I need to import any additional libraries to run the custom WLST commands for Oracle SOA Suite in my WLST shell?
I have only weblogic 10.3.1 server installed on my Solaris 10 machine on which I have deployed the OSB application software.
There is no SOA Suite installed.
Or is there any other way I can browse the Server Log file and get the list of log messages? Basically I would like to use this feature in my script to customize it according to my requirement of listing specific error logs which I can work it out if I know how to make these commands work.
Please advise if this is possible and how?
Cheers.
SatishI have tried on my OSB installation (no SOA Suite here), the command listLogs() works (I was in online mode, after a connect), and the classpath is:

Do we need both management Pack and ADP for monitoring SOA suite 11g
Hi,
Do we need to Both management pack and ADP (OCAMM) Application Dependancy and Performance for monitoring SOA Suite 11g.
I was creating a monitoring template for SOA Composite and SOA Infrastructure and wanted to know if I need to install additional ( management packs, ADP and Middleware Plugins ) packs to get an effective template.A management pack generally refers to the set of pages in EM Grid/Cloud Control which provide functionality for a given set of target types. Since EM Grid Control 11g, the ADP functionality has been part of the Grid Control release and the pages licensed via the Management Pack Plus for SOA or the SOA Management Pack EE.
To populate the ADP pages with data, additional steps must be performed in order to deploy an ADP manager and ADP agents. Doing this is optional, depending on whether or not you require the additional capability that those pages provide.
ADP data, however, are collected and stored separately from the core GC/CC metrics and are not related to the monitoring template functionality. -

Garbage characters displayed when saving InfoView Page Layout in Chinese
HI,
I'm new to BO, so I don't know whether I'm giving required information or not. We integrated BO with our product.Following are the configuration details.
Server: win2k3 sp2
DataBase: Embedded Sybase SQL
Clinet: winxp sp3(Chinese) + FF3.6.8
I logged in to BO InfoView with Chinese language as "Product Locale". Went to InfoView Page Layout Page , selected Save As option. Now I can see some garbage characters along with some Chinese characters in the Title text field. I want to eliminate those garbage characters.
I want to know the following.
1. what could be the reason to get such type of garbage characters there ?
2. How to eliminate them ?
3.Are we missing any required data while integrating BO with our product due to which this problem comes ?
Thanks in Advance,

Chinese characters displaying as square
Hi,
I am trying to update a text frame with following script. It works well for all ascii but if chinese characters are entered in text, it displays them as square. I have language pack installed on Indesign machine.
//----script starts-----
var myDocument = app.open(File('//192.168.1.189/Clients/44/ArtBuild/Artworks/60951.indd'));
var myTextFrame = objPage.textFrames.itemByID(tmp_frmid);
var paragraph1 = myTextFrame.paragraphs.item(0);
paragraph1.contents = "Hello ャンペー"
myDocument.save('MyFile.indd');
//-----script ends ----
This updates indd file to display
Hello□□□□
What can be done so that unicode displays as it is.Chinese fonts are already available on Indesign Machine.
Another related query regarding special charcters is:
If the above file doesn't have chinese characters but some special characters, then
1. if I copy the script and execute it in ExtendTool script, it properly updates the indd with special characters specified
2. If I call IndesignServer webservice by passing path of same script file, it updates indd file with junk characters.
Wonder, what difference it makes when script is executed through indesign webservice and not ExtendToolscript -
Chinese characters displayed with Arial
Hello,
I have got a very strange problem. I have a java application (I'm using Swing) that uses Chinese characters. The characters are displayed correctly.
During runtime the characters turn into squares. There is no regularity or specific action I do that triggers this event.
There are two problems:
1. As I mentioned, the characters turn into squares
2. The Chinese characters should NOT be displayed, as I am using "Arial", which does not contain Unicode characters.
Some suppose that the glyph cache contains - for what reason ever - the Chinese characters. Consequently, though using arial you can display Unicode characters. Then, at an unknown moment the garbage collector clears the glyph cache so that the characters turn into squares.
Is this theory logical? What other causes could there be for this problem? :-S
Thanks...!

No. You're trying to display something the operating system and JVM can't display, and they show you the only thing they can show, a placeholder. -
Chinese Characters Displaying as Boxes
My iTunes used to display Chinese characters fine. But today, they all show up as boxes. I originally thought that it was something wrong with Windows, but I'm pretty sure it's an issue with iTunes. I tried to type in Chinese, and it works fine in other programs, but when I do it within iTunes (to change a song title), it becomes a box. And when I browse to the file within My Computer, the filename shows up in Chinese. But if I look at the properties of a song (Get Info), it will show the path with all the Chinese characters replaced by boxes. I believe this problem came up today, as I synced my iPhone last night, and it was fine then. I even tried to change the Language Preferences, but that only changed the menus and my songs are still boxes. Anyone else have this problem?
