Chinese characters in Notes app became gibberish

I have some notes typed in Chinese while the language setting is in English. Then one day I showed my in-law how to change the language setting to Chinese. After that I changed back the setting to English, now all the chineses characters in Notes look like this
Any suggestions how to fix the problem ? I am using Iphone 5 btw.

no, it's not Chinese in the whole system, only keychain access
tried the get info - English is missing - the answer would be, I imagine, in figuring out how to get English recognized by Keychain Access
I unchecked all boxes in "international" in the sys prefs except English - but English still doesn't appear the languages section of the get info of Keychain Access
Am considering doing a complete clean install but of course would rather not. A simpler solution would be really cool!

Chinese characters are not displayed in the Firefox bookmarks. The name looks like e.g. "??????? ???? cn.nytimes.com"
Chinese character of the site name is displayed ok in the head of the browser window and there is no problem reading chinese web content. I use Firefox Portable 11 /English from portableapps.com in Windows XP.
I googled and got some tips:
1) Set your browser to recognise Chinese language internet sites.
Windows users: Under "Tools - Options" on your browser's menu-bar add Chinese to the languages list.
- I did this.
2) Set your browser's "Character Set" or "Encoding" to UTF-8 (sometimes also called Universal Alphabet or Unicode).
Encoding settings can be changed under the "View" option in your browser's menu-bar.
- It was already set to UTF-8.
3) Windows users: If Chinese text still does not display correctly, East Asian language support may need to be enabled.
- This has been done when I installed Windows.
I still don't get any Chinese fonts in the bookmark names. I can edit the bookmark name with chinese characters and then save the bookmark, it works fine. But why does not Firefox recognize the characters when saving bookmarks? Help is appreciated.

No I didn't change anything deep beneath the hood. My problem didn't apply to the URL, but to the name of the link or bookmark header or whatever you would like to call it. (When hitting Ctrl + D there is a Name field). I only got ???????? instead of chinese characters in the name. Also for e.g. www.cntv.cn ...but maybe all China is not in the whitelist either. ;-) But anyway, this was not the real problem for me.
Apparently I was wrong as after a reboot of the computer it worked. The solution seemed to be to add Chinese to the language list. I don't know why it was not enough to restart Firefox?
Now I only have problems to show chinese characters in the name field of my external link manager... But I guess it is not an issue for Mozilla.

Chinese characters does not display in adobe pdf in windows xp machines

I am a application developer using Struts2 framework with jasper reports.Clients want to display chinese characters in the report output pdf documents.
even i could install east asian language (windows xp) support,i did not get the chinese display in the generated pdf file.
In the jasper report viewer the chinese character could be viewed perfectly.but when we save as pdf document the chinese characters are blank
in the generated pdf document.
I did all the procedures specified in forums. but no result.
I could see that when i open the pdf,only helvatica font was used even i put the chinese characters.How could i embed the chinese character in pdf
what is the clear procedure to display the chinese characters in pdf documents?

A850+ with chinese characters on phone app despite UK English setting

Have just received a new 850+ running Android 4.2.2 and firmware A850+_S118_140226
Pretty much all the apps show English except the inbuilt phone app which is mixed English/Chinese. For example, under an incoming number are Chinese characters. I've no ide what these mean but presumably if it was in English it might be useful!
Any tips as to how I can fix this?

Apparently it's a setting in the Contacts manager to do with location. Solves a problem of Chinese characters in Contacts and Phone. Bizarre.

Chinese characters shown not properly

It was noted that some software couldn't show Chinese characters properly after upgrading to Lion. These characters were supposed to be shown in the same level, but they didn't. Even after upgrading to Mountain Lion, this problem remains.
For example, Google Earth was one of such softwares. The following link is screenshot file download link.

I just contacted with customer service of e麥客, whose software have the same situation. According to service personnel, they have noticed this problem and worked on it. It is estimated that the software update will be provided in coming October.
As to Google Earth... I have to think about how to describe the situation in my broken English...

Chinese characters can not be converted from Smartform to PDF

Hi gurus,
There are some smartform programs containing chinese and english in my R/3 system. Preview and printing are both OK.
But when I convert them into PDF using program RSTXPDFT2, all chinese display as ### or /// and so on in PDF files. But english characters are OK.
Here's some information:
1. I have checked settings in SCOT and use CNPDF for Chinese language as SAP recommend.
2. The font in smartform is CNSONG.
3. My R/3 is a unicode system.
4. My acrobat reader can read other chinese PDF files. Thus it's not my PC's problem.
Do you have any suggestions?

I got the similar problem but with Japanese characters(runs windows japanese edition), I solved it with the help of our user but couldn't remember the exact solution(around 2 year back I did this), but I'm sure that she maintained some parameter ID in User profile and it solved our problem.

Chinese Characters not showing in Design View

Version: DW MX 2004
I have a file I created in FrontPage and am now migrating
over to DW. Most of the language on the page is English, with a
portion of Chinese.
My Chinese characters do not show up in Design View, but when
I preview or upload the page to the server (live), they show up ok
in IE and FF. Everything worked fine in FrontPage.
Why can't I see them in Design View? I have looked in the
Help for languages, character sets, etc.

Once again, no one seems to know much about this question.
(I've noticed it's gone unanswered in previous years.)
In the Knowledgebase, I find only this: "Encoded HTML
documents created outside of Dreamweaver may not display correctly
in Dreamweaver. This includes documents that have been hand-coded
or created in another HTML editor."
This was updated in March, 2006.
Which leads me to say, bugger. I guess there's little point
in accommodating those 1.2 billion Chinese.

Chinese Characters Not Showing On Zen Ne

Hi, those who are using Zen Neeon or have solutions to my problems, please do help.
Chinese characters are not showing on my Zen Neeon.
When I used the Zen Neeon Media Explorer or Creative Mediasource to rip songs from CDs, chinese characters appear perfectly fine. It's also fine when I used Windows Media Player to rip.
However, once the songs are transferred to the player, chinese characters can't be read when they are playing. They can be read when I view them as 'playlists' on the player, but the Chinese song titles appear as funny characters on the LCD when the songs are playing.
I have changed my computer's non-unicode to 'Chinese PRC'. So I really don't know what's wrong.

It is actually the language of the tag of the song that matters, not the language of the song itself. If the song has Chinese tag, then the language must be set to Chinese. Setting the language to Chinese will not affect songs that has English tag. So, if you have only English tag songs and Chinese tag songs, then setting the language to Chinese will work for both. However, if you have Chinese tag songs and Japanese tag songs, then you need to set the language accordingly, depending on whether you are transferring Chinese tag songs or Japanese tag songs.

How can I force text in a table to wrap at the margin? Chinese characters result in wide tables.

Hello all ye RoboHelpers out there.
Background:
We're using RH 9 (latest patch) on Windows 7 machine.
We document in English and then the RH project gets localized into many diff languages and we use that to generate CHM, and Printed outputs.
The Problem:
In the Chinese language, in printed output, the right border of most tables exeeds well beyond the margin.
Here's what the localized table looks like in the RH editor:
By comparison, here's the equivalent English topic prior to localization:
Our CHM output is fine. In fact, here's what the Chinese looks like in when output to a browser or previewed and I drag the right side to
a narrower width. Notice that the table text appropriately wraps to remain within the window's size:
But here's what it looks like when I generate it in Word's printed output:
Notice the location of the margin at 6.5 inches. It should be wrapping at the margin. And something is weird with the left cell how it's getting pushed so far to the right.
The actual table width ends up around 11 inches! I had some tables last time I did this that were as far out as 18 inches but looked perfectly fine in English!
We use Across Systems for our localization tool, and I've verified that our translators are not messing with the table properties at all; only the text is exposed. One interesting difference I've noticed from other languages, is that Chinese characters do not contain a true space or period characters when we get them back from localization. This makes sentences essentially a really long string of unbroken characters, and I suspect this somehow pushes the generated tables to wide extremes in printed output.
What I've Tried:
I've tried to change the table properties in Word to auto fit the size of the window.
I've tried setting the width in RH to a specific size and regenerating. Still doesn't help.
I've added in space character and doing that does cause lines to wrap in some cases, but not in all. But I shouldn't have to do this.
I've tried to create a VBA macro in Word to size the tables, but couldn't get it to work.
What I need:
I need to somehow globally force all the tables' text strings to wrap once they reaches the right margin no mater what, even if the line does not contain space characters. Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere, either on the RH side or the Word side that can do this for these long strings of characters?
I really hope someone else has figured out how to deal with this because last time I did this, I had to go through approximately 500 tables and manually do a very convoluted workaround dragging the table handle in Print layout mode back to the right margin to get the table to wrap appropriately. It was a major pain in neck!

i am sendin .CSV file as an attachment with mail using "SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1" FM,
whle opening the mail attachment the chinese characters are not displaying properly.
currently i am using ECC 5.0

Some TC characters do not display

Some traditional Chinese characters do not display in AppleWorks 6. E.g. in Canglie I type B,H,D,N and the character I want appears with a green exclamation mark beside it. When I press Return, it does not display in my AppleWorks document. I tried Apple LiGothic Medium, Apple LiSung Light and BiauKai but no use. Sure would appreciate help!

Can you tell me what the green exclamation mark
stands for?

And Yvan is correct regarding the likelihood of an update to AppleWorks. The last (probably in both senses of that word) was in January, 2004.

Chinese Characters in User Variables

I'm using FrameMaker 7.2.
On an XP machine localized for CH, I'm trying to convert
and translate a manual into Simplified Chinese. I'm doing
fine with entering or pasting characters directly into the
document, but am having no success with variables.
In the edit variable window I can get a character in and
displaying correctly, but as soon as I space over to do the
next character, the previous one changes to a question mark.
I hope there is just a simple setting or step I'm missing.

hex--it always broke it into separate bytes.

Woo hoo! This worked. I do use FM 7.2. This particular machine's
Regional and Language Options did not have the third Advanced tab,
so in the Regional Options tab, I just changed the first box to
Chinese (PRC) and rebooted.
I noticed that in my Variable edit space, the Chinese characters
do not display properly, but in the document you need to ensure
that the variable is in the correct font (in my case, SimSun),
and it will then work.

Chinese characters displayed with Arial

I have got a very strange problem. I have a java application (I'm using Swing) that uses Chinese characters. The characters are displayed correctly.
During runtime the characters turn into squares. There is no regularity or specific action I do that triggers this event.
There are two problems:
1. As I mentioned, the characters turn into squares
2. The Chinese characters should NOT be displayed, as I am using "Arial", which does not contain Unicode characters.
Some suppose that the glyph cache contains - for what reason ever - the Chinese characters. Consequently, though using arial you can display Unicode characters. Then, at an unknown moment the garbage collector clears the glyph cache so that the characters turn into squares.
Is this theory logical? What other causes could there be for this problem? :-S

No. You're trying to display something the operating system and JVM can't display, and they show you the only thing they can show, a placeholder.

IP19 no Chinese characters displayed

Dear all,
When I logon in Chinese and execute the transaction IP19 (graphical) then I do not get Chinese characters displayed. (see attachment for the strange result).
Does anyone has a solution for this?

In the English login, the title is appearing normal but the Chinese characters are not displayed. See screenshot.
In Japanese it is the same issue as in Chinese. The content is tranlated but the tlte of the screen not.

Smartform preview / print of chinese characters

Hello all
I am facing this issue:
After implementing SAP Note 852926, the Smartform preview / printing works fine with Chinese characters in DEV system.
The Unit test were OK and then the SAP Note has been transported to our TEST env, but the chinese characters are not previewed and printed correctly there.
I see characters as "»ÆêÍ" instead of "黄晖"
I can not find any difference in settings / fonts of the two systems. What am I missing?
Anybody can give a hint?

Do you use the same device type to print in th test system?
To print Chinese characters from SAP, there are some rules:
1. The form must have Chinese language key 'ZH' or the Chinese texts must be included as standard texts with the language key 'ZH'.
2. The correct Chinese fonts(e.g. CNHEI or CNSONG) must be used for the Chinese texts in the form.
3. The form must be processed with a device type that supports the simplified Chinese language.(eg:device type CNSAPWIN).
Another possibility if you have a Unicode system is tp print via desvice type SWINCF. Here the language of the form doesn't matter.
