Chinese Characters on Network Printers

Hi,
I am currently using 2 network printers. One is HPLJ 3015 and the other is Fuji Xerox DC450 PCL-6. 
I am able to print the English characters properly but when I try printing the Chinese characters, it either gives me "Junk" or "doesn't print anything". I changed the Spool access method to "Front end" and the chinese characters printed perfectly.
I tried using all the Chinese compatible device types provided but none of them seem to work for these Network printers.
Can anyone please let me know if there are other device types I need to download/install and from where I can do that? I have tried the HP and FUJI Xerox sites and was not able to find any "Chinese" specific drivers. Any help regarding this problem will be greatly appreciated.

Chinese chars printing fine when you change access method to frontend because, windows driver may be substituting some fonts with true type fonts.
Check chinese fonts installed on the printers by printing font list from printer's controlpanel menu, if a chinese font is not there in the list, PCL font DIMM or soft font needed to print from SAP via network. Use device types CNHPLJ4 for simplified chinese and TWHPLJ4 for traditional chinese.

The network carrier symbol in the status area displays in Chinese characters instead of English whilst travelling in China so that I have to go to the settings to see which carrier is selected. The phone is set to English in the region format and I have never had this on my previous Blackberry. Is it a setting or a firmware issue?

Yup, only if your iOS device is set to English. Then yes, good Pinyin (and even some English!) shows up. I guess my only complaint now (in English) is that you really have to zoom in to see the smaller streets compared to how Google Maps showed them.
The Hanzi is still an issue, though, in at least some other languages. I prefer English but some others in my household prefer Spanish, and when the language is set to Spanish, Hanzi shows up everywhere.

Both HP8000 (C4086A) networked printers truncate several characters left margin after Windows Update

Our network is a Small Business Windows 2003 network. After the Windows Updates this month both of our HP8000 (C4086A) networked printers truncate several characters left margin; and it doesn't make a difference what the OS is, Windows XP Pro or Windows 7; all 32 bit.
There are no issues printing to a networked Toshiba ES-555.

Chinese characters printing in Scripts in SAP

Hi,
I would like to print Chinese characters in the scripts in SAP Unicode system.
We are trying thru SAP but unable to print. If anyone already done this please help me to solve this.

there are various factors like printers, script language settings influencing printing the chinese characters.First you can try to print the hardcoded chinese characters using locl instead of network printers. for this u need to copy the chinese characters and paste in the script using the native login (not nesscary to login to SAP in chinese login). If this works then u need to check the printer model supported by SAP for printing double byte characters. For more information pls post this Q in SCRIPT section of SDN. Also there are couple of notes availbale for troubleshooting this issue.

Chinese Characters in Netlogon.log -- re-asking

We have 822 occurrences of the following:
[CRITICAL] I_NetlogonLdapLookup: unrecognized character <Chinese characters>
in the last 2 days. The previous thread on this subject was marked "Answered" without being answered, so I'm re-asking:
1. Does anyone have any substantive information about what's sourcing this?
2. How can I associate a source IP with a single entry in the netlogon.log?
Here's what we know so far:
We have a Chinese linguist who has broken the character string down to 2 sections, the first being the same for all occurrences and the second being random-looking. He says the first section refers to "boats" or "water" and is looking
farther, but he says the string definitely looks like virus-like activity.
Second, I_NetlogonLdapLookup is a function inside netlogon.dll, so intuition says something is trying to do an LDAP lookup on the Chinese character string. We are looking into exactly how that function is supposed to be called (we're network guys, not
coders, so this may take longer than it should). Can someone help shorten this search?
C: There's no consistent contextual activity surrounding the actual log entries, so we're expecting to find out that there's more than one source, so it's extra important we figure out how to associate a source IP with these [CRITICAL] log entries,
especially since we may be looking for a root kit or something else that's able to hide from our multiple AV programs.
Assistance is appreciated, good analytical step-oriented result-generating assistance is GREATLY appreciated!

Oh yeah -- this is being logged on a DC in a 2008R2 domain with a small but growing number of 2012 member servers and almost no remaining servers lower than 2008R2. I can provide more details if anyone needs them

OK. It looks like we're all on the same page.
Here's a summary of the issue:
netlogon.log [CRITICAL] entry is reporting a failed attempt to execute an LDAP lookup on a Chinese character string (I_NetlogonLDAPLookup is a function inside netlogon.dll). There are no audit failures or other Event Log warnings or errors associated
with the log entries, so it's likely that the lookup is being performed after logging on to the domain with valid credentials. We don't think the character string is corrupted data because the first half of the string is identical in every
log entry and the total number of characters used across all occurrences is very small). Also, the variations in the 2nd half of the string are methodical and repetitive.
We hoped that translating the Chinese string would yield a clue pointing to the source of the attempted LDAP lookup. That didn't happen so we now must figure out how work back from the netlogon.log entry to the source platform.
The current situation:
The [CRITICAL] entries continue to be logged.
The distribution across 3 days of logs is making it look like we need to assume not one, but multiple sources.
I appreciate the standard advice re: 3rd-party AV software, DC build practices, security scans, power erasers and the like, but we are a QA/Test lab for a very complex product; scientific method and the need for operational stability preempts
us taking any corrective actions on any of our DCs (8 machines, 4 domains, 2 forests), Exchange servers (4 versions, 2 clusters per version) , Lync (2 versions), OCS, PKI, WSUS, DNS, DHCP, DHCPv6, SQL, or member servers until we actually prove that the machine in
question is a source of the bogus lookup attempts.

I'm going to close with one last (hopefully ) simple question: Where do I start the search for the UberSME who knows how to read the netlogon.log - specifically how to connect an event with its legitimate predecessor. Somebody
wrote the service, somebody knows how to interpret its logging output. Where do I start looking for them?

Command line e-mail with Chinese Characters

We are writing a script that tells users that their password will expire
in 2 weeks and how to change it in various places like network,
GroupWise, PDA, conferencing system...
Problem is that we have Many Chinese so we want the e-mail to be in both
Chinese and English. We are using nail to format the e-mail but it is
always coming through with boxes for the Chinese characters. Any idea
one where the problem is occurring?

I can't get iTunes (Mac OS X) to display chinese characters properly...

Hi, I suppose it is because of the ID3 Tags being not properly read by itunes right? cos my Mac can display chinese no problems, specially it can display the mp3 files with it's chinese title in the Mac OS X Mountain Lion Finder no problem!
I have tried somethning called the "Unicode Rewriter", tried converting using Source Encoding as : Big5, Big5_HKSCS, Cp9xx, EUC_TW, ISO2022CN_CNS, MS950... everthing they had for Chinese Traditional Encoding... They all showed up in itunes in Chinese Characters after converison, but it is not the correct word... somethimes it changed even into Korean!
I read about ID3Mod2 but it costs 8US$, and I am not even sure it will work!?While the Unicode Rewriter is Free! but i dont understand why it didn't work though... it seem to be doing what it is suppose to, but just the encoding is maybe not the right one!?
Anybody experiencing the same type of problem and found a solution?

Oh I forgot to mention that I'm using a straight cable as resource to the network. I do have access to the internet and some other networkdisks, But I can't access the main one, which is described above.

Network Printers are visible but will not work

I have a MBP 10.4.8 networked to my desktop (PC) that has twoprinters attached to it (Epson R800 and HP PSC 1315) I can see the printers on my MBP but I cannot print to them. I have received two different errors. 1. no memory and 2. cant connect to the samba host. Also,I cant find the HPPSC 1315 in the Printer Model list. I have searched several forums and have tried several resolutions but still cant seem to get it to work. I updated HP and EPSON drivers, installed ghostscript and the other hpjils (?) Does anyone have any other suggestions?

the changes i was referring to were using the Advanced~Windows Printing via SAMBA~then typing the URL. If I chose More Printers, Windows Printing , then Network Neighborhood, my network (homenetwork) and workgroup show up on the list. If I choose my homenetwork, then my desktop PC name appears, if I select that, both of my network printers appear. That is what I did before doing what you suggested.
I enabled the guest access on the desktop PC
I checked the names and I do not use "special characters" My printers are named hp and epson and my desktop is desktop2.
Does apple offer classes for this sort of thing? I hate bugging you about this

How to configure my Firefox thus allowing me to input Chinese characters into the search box by using PenPower writing pad while this problem doesn't exist when I am using Internet Explorer?

I am using the electronic writing pad made by PENPOWER Inc. to input Chinese characters onto my PC programs (e.g. Winword, Internet Explorer, Excel, etc.) But I can not make it happened on Firefox, please advice what I have to do with the configuration of the Firefox or using any other method to make it work. Arabic and Chinese characters are showing ??? in PDF

I hava an application which calls BI publisher API to generate PDF file from rtf temlate and xml input. It is fine for English contents. But the Arabic or Chinese characters are showing ??? in PDF. If I use BI publisher Desktop to load the xml and generate pdf file, it shows correct Arabic/Chinese Characters in PDF. I also copied ALBANWTJ.ttf file to my application JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/fonts/ folder. But it still doesn't work. Anyone can help me with this?

Chinese characters are not displayed in the Firefox bookmarks

Chinese characters are not displayed in the Firefox bookmarks. The name looks like e.g. "??????? ???? cn.nytimes.com"
Chinese character of the site name is displayed ok in the head of the browser window and there is no problem reading chinese web content. I use Firefox Portable 11 /English from portableapps.com in Windows XP.
I googled and got some tips:
1) Set your browser to recognise Chinese language internet sites.
Windows users: Under "Tools - Options" on your browser's menu-bar add Chinese to the languages list.
- I did this.
2) Set your browser's "Character Set" or "Encoding" to UTF-8 (sometimes also called Universal Alphabet or Unicode).
Encoding settings can be changed under the "View" option in your browser's menu-bar.
- It was already set to UTF-8.
3) Windows users: If Chinese text still does not display correctly, East Asian language support may need to be enabled.
- This has been done when I installed Windows.
I still don't get any Chinese fonts in the bookmark names. I can edit the bookmark name with chinese characters and then save the bookmark, it works fine. But why does not Firefox recognize the characters when saving bookmarks? Help is appreciated.

No I didn't change anything deep beneath the hood. My problem didn't apply to the URL, but to the name of the link or bookmark header or whatever you would like to call it. (When hitting Ctrl + D there is a Name field). I only got ???????? instead of chinese characters in the name. Also for e.g. www.cntv.cn ...but maybe all China is not in the whitelist either. ;-) But anyway, this was not the real problem for me.
Apparently I was wrong as after a reboot of the computer it worked. The solution seemed to be to add Chinese to the language list. I don't know why it was not enough to restart Firefox?
Now I only have problems to show chinese characters in the name field of my external link manager... But I guess it is not an issue for Mozilla.

Chinese characters scrambled when loading from DS to BW

Hi, I've been pulling my hair out with this issue.
I have a flat file containing Chinese text. When I load this in BW using 'FLATFILE' as a source system, it works fine. BW shows the correct Chinese characters.
When I do the same load using BODI, I get funny characters.
When I use BODI to load from one flat file into another flat file, the Chinese characters remain correct.
What do I need to do to make sure I get the right Chinese characters in BW when loading from BODI?
BODI is installed on Unix on Oracle 10.
I run the jobs as batch processes.
The dsconfig.txt has got:
AL_Engine=<default>_<default>.<default>
There are no locale settings in al_env.sh
BW target is UTF-8 codepage.
File codepage is BIG5-HKSCS
BODI is set up as a Unicode system in SAP BW.
When loading flat file to flat file, I get a message:
DATAFLOW: The specified locale <eng_gb.iso-8859-1> has been coerced to <Unicode (UTF-16)
because the datastore <TWIN_FF_CUSTOMER_LOCAL> obtains data in <BIG5-HKSCS> codepage.
JOB: Initializing transcoder for datastore <TWIN_FF_CUSTOMER_LOCAL> to transcode between
engine codepage<Unicode (UTF-16)> and datastore codepage <BIG5-HKSCS>
When loading to BW the messages are almost the same, but now the last step in UTF-16 to UTF-8.
I read the wiki post which definitely helped me to understand the rationale behind code page, but now I ran out of ideas what else to check ( http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/Multiple+Codepages )
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Diagnosis
Data packages or InfoPackages are missing in BI but there were no apparent processing errors in the source system. It is therefore probable that there was an error in the data transfer.
The analysis tried to read the ALE outbox of the source system. This lead to error .
It is possible that there is no connection to the source system.
Procedure
Check the TRFC overview in the source system.
Check the connection to the source system for errors and check the authorizations and profiles of the remote user in both the BI and source systems.
Check th ALE outbox of the source system for IDocs that have not been updated.

Report Generation Toolkit using Chinese Characters

I am trying to use the Report Generation Toolkit for Microsoft Office under LabVIEW 8.0. I would like to use Chinese characters for the headings of the columns using a 2D array of the headings and the Excel Easy Table. When I generate the report, the text of the headings appears to be jumbled and not encoding correctly.
For example:
仪器编号 becomes êNhV÷S
采前初重（g） becomes Ç‘MRRÍ‘ÿg

Using the "Append Table to Report" VI to add strings of Cyrillic font to a table in an MS Word report results in gibberish being added to the report.

Need helping printing to networked printers.

I need help setting up network printers that have a code on them for each individual. There is no place to put a code so the printer will know who is printing what. I have installed 3 printers and they will not print, they just go to a paused mode and when you hit resume in reverts back to pause because it is looking for a code. I have tried it another way but it asks for a user name and password and all we have are codes. The workplace is using a windows based server and the copiers are listed as followed.

I need help to be able to print from my mac. I also have parallels running with xp installed and all the printers are installed on that side and printing fine. Hopefully someone can help me out.

Hello and welcome to Apple Discussions.
In order to provide the user with the ability to input a user code, the respective printer driver would have to provide the facility. If this feature did exist on a previous version of OS X, then you may have to check the vendors web site to see if there is a driver for 10.6.
If you are not sure if the function was supported previously, then go through all the user menus for the driver. The function may be present but located in an unusual location. Or it could require an additional file (aka plugin) that could be missing from the driver installation or not compatible with 10.6.
The other thing to note is that if you have the Mac's printing via a Windows queue, you will have to provide user credentials for SMB print queues. This is typically a Windows user account - not the Mac's account details. If you don't want to create accounts for the Mac users on the Windows server, then you can use LPD rather than SMB to connect to the Windows queues. This does require UNIX Printing Services to be enabled on the server.

How can I force text in a table to wrap at the margin? Chinese characters result in wide tables.

Hello all ye RoboHelpers out there.
Background:
We're using RH 9 (latest patch) on Windows 7 machine.
We document in English and then the RH project gets localized into many diff languages and we use that to generate CHM, and Printed outputs.
The Problem:
In the Chinese language, in printed output, the right border of most tables exeeds well beyond the margin.
Here's what the localized table looks like in the RH editor:
By comparison, here's the equivalent English topic prior to localization:
Our CHM output is fine. In fact, here's what the Chinese looks like in when output to a browser or previewed and I drag the right side to
a narrower width. Notice that the table text appropriately wraps to remain within the window's size:
But here's what it looks like when I generate it in Word's printed output:
Notice the location of the margin at 6.5 inches. It should be wrapping at the margin. And something is weird with the left cell how it's getting pushed so far to the right.
The actual table width ends up around 11 inches! I had some tables last time I did this that were as far out as 18 inches but looked perfectly fine in English!
We use Across Systems for our localization tool, and I've verified that our translators are not messing with the table properties at all; only the text is exposed. One interesting difference I've noticed from other languages, is that Chinese characters do not contain a true space or period characters when we get them back from localization. This makes sentences essentially a really long string of unbroken characters, and I suspect this somehow pushes the generated tables to wide extremes in printed output.
What I've Tried:
I've tried to change the table properties in Word to auto fit the size of the window.
I've tried setting the width in RH to a specific size and regenerating. Still doesn't help.
I've added in space character and doing that does cause lines to wrap in some cases, but not in all. But I shouldn't have to do this.
I've tried to create a VBA macro in Word to size the tables, but couldn't get it to work.
What I need:
I need to somehow globally force all the tables' text strings to wrap once they reaches the right margin no mater what, even if the line does not contain space characters. Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere, either on the RH side or the Word side that can do this for these long strings of characters?
I really hope someone else has figured out how to deal with this because last time I did this, I had to go through approximately 500 tables and manually do a very convoluted workaround dragging the table handle in Print layout mode back to the right margin to get the table to wrap appropriately. It was a major pain in neck!
