Chinese display in C7

Hello,
I just want to read Chinese when I am browsing the webpage. Is is possible to simply fix this by adding a Chinese font? I saw someone successfully did similar things in other models, but I am not sure for C7 as this is released not long ago. Has anyone done this on C7? or by other methods?
Many thanks,
tony

I just found a simple solution by myself.....Install the Opera mobile brower....
then I can read Chinese though can not input Chinese yet.

  • Need chinese display on ATT9300

    I have just purchased a new 9300 and desktop software 6.0.  I want to display traditional chinese on my Curve.  I am with ATT, but the support rep is not that helpful to help me to install a chinese package.  I cannot follow step by step for most of the search I've done on the web.  If there is anyone out there who has installed chinese display on ATT curve, please give me some help.  Thanks

    Spent another few hours on this...I have language pack ATT's multi-language, All-lang, Rogers' Asia pack (v6.0.0.526, platform 6.6.0.195)  I have choice of most European language, but no chinese yet,
    Any idea?

  • 3110c Firmware updated, lost chinese display

    Dear all, recently I had update my 3110c firmware to ver V07.21 which is the latest firmware, but sad to say my phone now cant display chinese word can don't have chinese input.
    Can I know how to install back the chinese display and input format?
    Thank you,

    Sadly the shop you bought it from has sold you a modified import.  They import them from elsewhere then modify the firmware to include the regional languages.  This process also voids the warranty.
    When the phone is updated it rightly defaults back to the set of languages that it should have originally been installed on it.
    To get Chinese back on the phone you will either have to contact the retailer that sold it to you or a nokia care point.  You can find details of your nearest care point via the "contact us" link near the top of the page.
    Any other unofficial ways of adding languages that you may read about on other forums cannot be discussed here.

  • Chinese display improperly in Safari and Firefox after OSX 10.6.7 update

    After updating to 10.6.7 some Chinese websites don't display properly in both Safari and Firefox on my '08 book pro, while the '09 iMac has no such problem. On the book pro Chinese characters appear as unreadable squiggles. Other apps (word, mail, photoshop) seem to do fine post-update.
    Anyone encountered this? solution?

    Puzzling. Why should it happen after the 10.6.7 update?
    There is a long history of duplicate fonts causing problems in OS X. Do you know for sure whether you had duplicates of that one in 10.6.6?
    Is this related to other more serious font problem reported by other users after the update?
    I don't think the other one can be fixed by getting rid of duplicates.

  • JSP + MySQL + Linux + Tomcat4.1 Chinese display problem

    Hello all!
    I have a problem to use JSP to display Chinese which is read from MySQL database. It works well under Windows XP. But when I move the code to Linux. The Chinese can't be displayed any more.
    The only way to display Chinese correctly is to remove <%@ page contentType="text/html; charset=Big5" %>. This requires to set the browser encoding manually every time, which is not what I want.
    I am not sure if I need store the Chinese as Big5 or other unicode in MySQL. Right now, I just insert it into database directly without specifying the characters set.
    I have been searching for solutions for quite a while and can't get the answer. Please help me to conquer this problem!
    Below is the simplified version of my code:
    <html>
    <head>
    <%@ page contentType="text/html; charset=Big5" %>
    <%@ page import="java.util.*" %>
    <%@ page import="java.sql.*" %>
    <%@ page import="ConnectionPool.*" %>
    <%@ page session="true" %>
    </head>
    <body>
    <table>
    <%
    ServletContext context = getServletContext();
    ConnectionPool connectionPool = (ConnectionPool)context.getAttribute("ConnectionPool");
    Connection connection = connectionPool.getConnection();
    Statement statement = connection.createStatement();
    String sqlCmd = "SELECT chinese_word FROM word";
    String chinese_word;
    ResultSet rs = statement.executeQuery(sqlCmd);
    while (rs.next())
         chinese_word = rs.getString("chinese_word ");
         out.println("<tr><td>" + chinese_word );
         out.println("</td></tr>");
    connectionPool.free(connection);
    %>
    </table>
    </body>
    </html>
    Thanks a bunch,
    Sophie

  • Simplified Chinese displayed as boxes with numbers

    Firefox used to be able to display Simplified and Traditional Chinese character pages perfectly when it's set at "Auto detect- Chinese". However, ever since I updated to 4.0b7, Simplified Chinese characters have all started to be displayed as boxes with little numbers in them.
    Despite trying different encodings, such as GBK and GB18030, nothing is able to properly display Chinese simplified characters. I have IE as well, and it is able to display both S and T Chinese pages without a problem like Firefox before 4.0b7. I'm using English version of FF with 64bit Windows 7.

    The boxes with little numbers mean that Firefox is now unable to find a font which supports the characters in question. (It's nothing to do with the character set detection.) This could either be because the fonts have been removed from your computer (unlikely, if IE can find them), or perhaps because the website has changed to ask for fonts you don't actually have, or perhaps it's serving different pages to different versions of Firefox. Were you on 4.0b6 before, or 3.6.x?

  • UTF8 and Traditional chinese display problem

    I have having problems displaying chinese because I am trying to pull data from 2 difference sources into a 3rd source.
    Question 1
    I am using Oracle 8.17 on Sun Solaris - (in China).
    The NLS_LANG on that machine (Machine name is CNCIM) is American. The NLS_CHARACTERSET is ZHS16GBK.
    We are using Java to write data into this server. The data has been stored as UTF8.
    When I use TOAD, to look at the chinese characters, I cannot see the actual characters.
    What I see in TOAD is something like this
    &#19978;&#28023;&#24066;&#23665;&#19996;&#20013;&#36335;145&#21495;
    Convert function does not seem to work. Can someone advice me how I can see the raw data in chinese?
    Question 2
    Currently, I am also trying to import the above UTF8 data into my Local Oracle Machine (APDM)
    The NLS_LANG on that machine is American. The NLS_CHARACTERSET is WE8ISO8859P1.
    And at the sametime, I am trying to import information from SQL2000 into Local Oracle Machine (APDM).
    I was told that the data in SQL2000 has been setup as tradtional Chinese.
    What type of settings should I have on my local machine(APDM) to allow me to view Chinese data (From CNCIM - UTF8) and to see the SQL2000(traditional chinese) data at the same time? Should this settings
    be configured for my client too?

    My hunch is that Toad either does not support the display of Chinese characters, at least not without setting your Windows regional settings to Chinese. Can you retrieve the data via your Java application?
    If your database character set is ZHS16GBK, that should be the character set that the data is stored in the database. If your Java application is sending over UTF-8 encoded data, you need to ensure that the NLS_LANG settings on the client machine identify the data as UTF-8 so that Oracle can do the necessary character set conversion.
    If your local database is using the ISO 8859-1 character set, it cannot store Chinese data. You would need to create a new database with a character set that supports Chinese if you wanted to store Chinese data there.

  • Query Chinese display

    Hi all~
    It's impossible to display the text correct in Chinese when query executed in Analyzer.
    For BI, it's no problem in display the text of Chinese although no Lanaguage package for Chinese installed.
    Please let me know how to deal with it if any way there is, points will asigned, thanks!

    Hi Li Ren,
    In case you are using Bex 3.x frontend, it is not unicode enabled. You need to logon
    ZH to view chinese. etc. You should also set the regional setting in your windows control
    panel.
    If this is still not helpful, you should set the SAP_CODEPAGE in your
    windows enviroment setting (please check OSS Note 823631 ),to the related codepage for the language
    that you are using.
    1. logon to JA if you want to see japanese.
    2. set SAP_CODEPAGE to the language you want to see.
    3. set in control pannel -> regional setting -> everything to be
       the language you want to see.
    Kind Regards,
    Robin.

  • Chinese display issues from xml

    Hello all,
    I'm currently developing a standalone application that can be launched as an applet that needs internationalization support. The app reads in text and information for buttons and menus from an XML file with a custom parser (which I did not write). The app or applet will not display any chinese or non-US standard characters, it displays odd symbols. My XML is in UTF-8 and I know that java supossedly displays this correctly... I can't seem to figure out where the issue is.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks a lot!
    Jake

    The file is definitely in UTF-8, and it converts the XML directly to strings for the application to use. I'm pretty sure the parser itself can't read UTF-8 correctly, but I am unsure how to correct this. I tried to encode my file in ISO-8859-1, but clearly chinese fonts will not work in this encoding.
    What is the best known method for reading in a UTF-8 XML encoded file in java?

  • Problems with Chinese Display

    I have a Java application whose menus and other text varies according to the locale. So far I have a default properties file for English and a zh_CN.properties file for Simplified Chinese. When I run the application on Chinese Windows XP, Chinese text displays fine. When I try to run the same app on English Windows XP by typing
    java -jar QD.jar zh CN
    from the command line, I just get boxes instead of Chinese characters. This in spite of the fact that I installed XP's East Asian Language support (via the Control Panel), which includes MingLiu & PMingLiu, MS Hei, SimHei, SimSum & NSimSum, etc.
    Based on what I have been reading on this forum, it seems that I may need to explicitly set the font on the components that needs to display Chinese. But this seems odd: Aren't Java components smart enough to figure out that if they need to display Chinese, they should pick a font that is able to do so? How is Java able to display Chinese correctly with Chinese Windows XP if not without this very logic?
    Btw, I am running 1.4.1 on both my English and my Chinese boxes.

    Hi Edward,
    you're quite right. You will need to set the font explicitly everywhere to get this to work. Java can't pick a font for you going by locale. I'm not quite sure why this is, but I could take a guess. I know the I18N guys have repeated fits about fonts at Sun - I'm pretty sure they'd have to individually load each font at VM init time, and check whether each font has the full and correct set of glyphs onboard. That's a very time-consuming process for the VM to get up to, I'd think. Maybe they're just saving processor time.
    Either way, there's a good reason that it works on Chinese XP and not English XP. Java's default font is whatever the OS sets it to be. Chinese XP's default font is likely to be something like MingLiU, though I'm not entirely sure. It can certainly display Chinese anyway. English XP I believe defaults to Tahoma, which cannot display Chinese. Hence, you're getting the rectangles when running off Java's default font under the English version.
    I have absolutely no idea how to change the default font for XP (not sure if this is even possible), so setting the font explicitly by name usually wins out. :-(
    Hope that helps!

    If you do a clean uninstall of Palm Desktop 6.2.2, and go back to 4.1.4 (or 4.1.4E) and install the Aceeca drivers, HotSync should work.  I can't guarantee Chinese characters working correctly, but it's worth a try!
    As far as HPalm updating 6.2.2, that will never happen.  Palm sold the rights to Palm Desktop many years to a company known as PalmSource, who then sold the program to Access of Japan.
    It's Access you should be asking (though the company has shown little interest in updating the program since PalmOS has been discontinued).

    First,when I set type to dynamic,CJK characters are

    The next,I apply htmlText to TextField,then bind code:
    <font face='DejaVu

    valid for windows;hum,on linux,I'm failed.
    Who has any ideas?
    Thanks.
    Sorry,I'm weak in English.

    You have to embed the font. Static fields don't require
    embedding, dynamic
    do.
