If you do a clean uninstall of Palm Desktop 6.2.2, and go back to 4.1.4 (or 4.1.4E) and install the Aceeca drivers, HotSync should work.  I can't guarantee Chinese characters working correctly, but it's worth a try!
As far as HPalm updating 6.2.2, that will never happen.  Palm sold the rights to Palm Desktop many years to a company known as PalmSource, who then sold the program to Access of Japan.
It's Access you should be asking (though the company has shown little interest in updating the program since PalmOS has been discontinued).

  • Viewing Chinese characters in old Palm Desktop in Mac OS X 10.5.8?

    Hello.
My client used his old Windows 2000 SP4 Dell PC for his Palm Treo 680 desktop, Hotsync (backups too), and Palm Desktop with English and Chinese data (characters with CJKOS -- http://www.dyts.com/en/products.html ). He finally switched to his 3+ years old
MacBook Pro with updated Mac OS X 10.5.8 since Palm finally released software for it compared a few years ago. However, Mac's Palm Desktop, iCal, Addressbooks, etc. do not show these Chinese characters.
Do you know how do we display Chinese characters in these program? Other programs like Office 2008, Firefox v3.6.25, etc. show and input Chinese characters just fine. I know we have to use TwinBridge CJK/Chinese Partner v6.0 in Windows 2000 SP4 to show them so I assume it is similiar for Mac OS X. TwinBridge doesn't seem to have a Mac OS X product port. Is there a similar program (free preferred)?
    Thank you in advance.

Hi, no idea what Palm uses, but on Mac Apps might do a Get Info on them & see what Languages are checked...
The languages options were greyed out and could not add languages, so I had to log into the administrator-level account to add but Finder asked me where which I didn't know. I only saw the common/popular foreign languages (French, Spanish, and German) for Palm Desktop. No Chinese ones. I tried Apple's Address Books, and I saw Chinese and they were checked in non-administrator account. I guess that's not the problem.

  • Palm Desktop 6.2.2 on Win8.1 syncing but not displaying data

I'm so pleased to have found this forum.  I didn't realise there was so much love for old Palm devices.  I started with a Palm V and worked my way up to a Tungsten T & palm Desktop 4.1.4 on WInXP and everything has been so good that I've resisted moving away from Palm Desktop as it does everything I need.  But I've just bought a new Win8.1 PC and am having some problems that I hope someone here can help with.
I've been through the help here about installing Palm Desktop 6.2.2 and the win8 driver and the installation was very smooth and I could hotsync via usb with no apparent problem, except that Palm Desktop is not displaying any of my palm data!
When I first ran hotsync (from the palm cradle button) it asked for a user name.  My Tungsten T was already being used on my XP PC and was full of data.  So I entered the Tungsten user name and hotsync continued.  it took a couple of minutes or so (as would be expected) and when complete it said everything was ok.  I checked the Hotsync logand it confirmed everything was synchronised correctly - but when I opened Palm Desktop there was no data being displayed.
I then checked the data files in ...documents\Palm OS Desktop\.... and the address and datebook files are present and full of my data.  I even opened them using Notepad and could easily see loads of ascii text amongst all the 'junk' characters, so it looks as if the sync process has worked correctly but nothing from my Tungsten is being displayed in the Palm Desktop.
I then added an event in the datebook in Palm Desktop and another event on the same day in the Tungsten.  I then did another hotsync.  It was reported as successful but the Tungsten event did not appear in the Desktop although the Desktop even DID appear on the Tungsten.  So the sync process seems to be only working one way!
I've never had this happen before and would really appreciate any help.

OK, try using the "Palm Hotsync Setup" program found on this page.
Since you are using an older T|T, this may be the answer.
There is a guide available from this website for migrating PalmOS data to Android, if interested.  I made that jump years ago when webOS was ended.  You can find it on their Home page.

  • Palm Desktop software only displaying Media option

I have a Z22, and a PC running Vista.  I have used the Palm desktop for a couple of years with no problems.
The only change I made recently to my PC is installing Firefox.
The next time I opened the Palm Desktop, all the items like my Calendar, Memos, etc were no longer on the desktop display.
The only two items are Media and Install.
Attempting to find the desktop again, I tried to reinstall the software from the original disk.
It would not run, giving me an error and exiting from the installation.
So, I downloaded the desktop 6.2 from the Palm website.
No change, I still only see the Media and Install items.
What is the next thing to try?  My Z22 still has my contacts and other information, but it no longer appears on my computer.
    Thanks for your advice.

    Two things to try:
    1. Next time you run Palm Desktop, right-click on the Palm Desktop icon first and choose "Run as Administrator".  Everything should reappear.
    2. Turn off "User Account Control" in Vista.  Start Button/Contol Panel/User Accounts/Turn off User Account Control.

    Thanks for replying PALM_LOVER!
Sometimes, yes, sometimes no. When I first sync-ed today, I got the prompt, and when i clicked on VIEW LOG, it took me to a web page that said "FILE NOT FOUND "("Firefox can't find the file at /C:/Program Files/palmOne/Stephe/HotSyncLog.htm.") I re-sync-ed and did not get the prompt.

  • Palm Desktop 6.2.2: Can't print only one category in Month View

I recently upgraded my palm desktop to 6.2.2 when I got a new PC with windows vista.  When I am in the month view of the calendar and I choose to print, it prints all categories regardless of which category I have selected in the onscreen display.  In my previous version of palm desktop running on windows XP I was able to print only a single category of appointmenets in the month view.  I think of this as a bug.  Is there any way to fix this?

I have the similar problem.  I have three separate calendars but when I try to print only one, the outcome is that the information in all three calendars gets printed as one.  I cannot find a fix.  HELP.

a screen pops up that says "Application has encountered a problem and needs to close".
It then says "Send report" or "Don't send".
After clicking on either of these, the Palm Desktop window closes.
I do not know where to retrieve the "Send Report" information if it has been sent.
Any help would be appreciated as the Month view is very helpful when planning future appointments or activities.

  • Palm Desktop 6.2 won't read data file after IR synch with IIIC

I have Windows 7, an old IIIC, and Palm Desktop 6.2. Since I can use a USB with that combination, I synced with an infrared connection. The files made it to the Palm directory, but the desktop program won't read them. My previous version of Palm Desktop allowed me to search for the data directory, but I can't find a way to do so with 6.2. And, no, the older version wouldn't display the data, either, in spite of my specifying the path.
I'm so close! One more step and I won't have to buy a smart phone and pay a monthly fee to carry around my contact date. Please help.

Palm Desktop 6.2.2 is not an upgrade to 4.x!   It was designed to fix the things Microsoft broke when Vista was born.
It lacks many features that existed for many years in the 4.x versions.
I'd suggest doing a Clean Uninstall and reinstall your original version!

  • Corrupt User Data Spinning Wheel Of Death Mac Palm Desktop Rev D

    Hello,
My Treo 700p stopped working and Palm Desktop on My Mac will not open, import, or merge my user data files (current and backups). I've tried the apple-option Merge and import tricks to no avail. If it is set as the default user data, palm desktop will freeze on its splash screen and give me the spinning wheel of death. If i open, i get the message "Opening User Data One moment please..." with an eternal spinning wheel of death (SWOD). If i restore (apple-option merge) i immediately get the SWOD, If i merge, i am notified that the merge is successful, but then i get the spinning wheel of death before any data is displayed. I can open the userdata in textwrangler and see all of the phone numbers, notes, etc, but It seems impossible to parse into any format for reimporting or moving to my Pre. Are there any other tricks to opening the user data or recovering its contents. Any debug tools or software interrupts or anything I can do? Is there a way to open this stuff in a properly parsed format? Can User Data files be opened or imported by any other app? Also the Treo 700p gets power and the red light stays on but it never boots, perhaps there is a forensic tool that can recover the data?
Thank You for all your help and I would greatly appreciate any resolution.

What BDAqua said. Get those crummy fonts you added off the drive. At least one of them must be so bad that's it's corrupting RAM every time the system tries to load it.
A Safe Mode boot removes the user cache files of the account you log into in Safe Mode, and clears Font Book's database. Normally, that would allow you to restart normally since Font Book's database is not rebuilt until you launch Font Book. That you can't even get that far means you have some really BAD fonts.
Boot into Safe Mode again. Make a new folder on the desktop and move all of the fonts you added out of the /Library/Fonts/ folded, or the Fonts folder of your user account. Whichever one you put them in.
Now you should be able to startup normally.

  • DEvice Switch Wizard transferring from Palm Desktop

I just got my Blackberry 9700 replacing my previous Palm 755. When I first used the Device Switch Wizard form the Blackberry Desktop Manager I was able to transfer all the data from my Palm Desktop to my Blackberry. I performed this for about four times as I modified my contact list. Now it aborts the transfer and receive a message saying:
"Desktop organizer data was not imported successfully. Errors occurred during the process"
I have since removed the Blackberry Desktop Manager software completely and reloaded - no result. I upgraded the Desktop Manager with automatic update - no result.
Desperately need help on resolving this.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Typically, you'd want to do that action just once...to initially get your data over to your BB. After which you'd want to use a different (and compatible) PIM to manage the data on your PC. I'm thinking that perhaps you should do that -- or perhaps, given the error, move your data from your Palm PIM to a compatible PIM:
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
    And then configure for synchronization:
KB17022 How to configure organizer applications for synchronization using BlackBerry Desktop Manager
Good luck and let us know!

  • Help!!! Palm Desktop Error

I just upgraded to Windows 7 and re-installed the Palm Desktop v3 from the CD. But it fails to open the Date Book database displaying an error message to that effect and the app doesn't launch.
Do I have to run a HotSync operation first?
The file had not been synced to the m100 in ages so the m100 was empty.
    Is there a solution?
    Thanks.

    Hello ELgambino.
You can find my Transport Monitor clean up directions over in this thread.  You will also want to refer back to the Mark/Space website to find the directions to completely remove The Missing Sync for Palm OS software.  The clean up process should go like this:
    1. Remove The Missing Sync
    2. Remove Palm Desktop (don't delete your data folder in your Mac OS X User home folder)
    3. Reboot the Mac
    4. Reinstall Palm Desktop from the Centro software CD.
    5. Configure the iSync conduit
    6. HotSync.
I would also backup your iCal data just to make sure that you have a good backup if the data is really important.

  • Printing a "Category" with Palm Desktop 6.2

I have a Tungsten E2 and I'm running Windows 7 on my new computer.  Priot to installing Palm Desktop version 6.2 software on the computer, I was always able to select one of the Date Book categories I created, such as "Videoconferences & Tests," and print out the Date Book entries for just that category. That made handing in my monthly report to my boss very easy.  Now, however, I am no longer able to do that.  Even if Videoconferences & Tests" is the only Category displayed on my computer screen,  when I try to print it out I get the entire Date Book.  What can I do?
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

Palm Desktop 6.2 has been nothing but a HEADACHE. I do not recommend it -- at least not for WinXP and Zire or Treo. It doesn't do anything new anyway, and it may be supported by Access, which is some other company, not Palm.
    Problems I had:
    -- Cannot Hotsync
-- Corrupted files on Zire, which required full reset
Fortunately I was able to download Palm Desktop 4.2 (still available) and re-install. I had backups to repair files, but all categories were forgotten, so a huge headache.

I updated my Treo 680 from Palm Desktop v4 to Palm Desktop 6.2. Didn't read changes in Desktop 6.2 first and decided to go back to Palm Desktop v.4. Now my versamail is not working. It says " A previous version of VersaMail was found. Would you like to upgrade?" If I choose no, it goes to preferences. If I choose yes, it displays an empty dialog box that does not upgrade or open versamail. I have tried to download MMUpgrade.prc, but it is not working either. I have "MM" files that list v.2.71a3 with duplicated file names that list v.3.5.5. I don't how to fix this. Please help! Thanks.

  • Palm Desktop (Palm XT)

After years of troublefree use, quite suddenly my Palm Desktop (6.2.2) has lost all the usual menu items down the left column - except Media and Install. It starts in Media and I am totally unable to get at my Contacts, Memos etc.
I have restored my last backup (Saturday) to no effect and removed and reinstalled the Desktop - the crazy thing is that when I synchronised after reinstalling the desktop ALL the things missing (according to the Sync log) were sync'd successfully.
Anybody have any idea what might have happened or any wa\y of getting back the display of my menu items?
It is driving me crazy as all my contacts are currently un-get-at-able!

WyreNut - Thank YOU - now running OK
I already had the UAC turned off - did that when I built the computer earlier this year, I had tried reinstalling the Desktop as 'Run as Administrator' and in Compatibility Mode but the one thing that I hadn't done was to run the installed program as administrator - duh!
This Palm Desktop program has been running flawlessly on this computer (and previous ones) right back to version 3 for several years - I simply cannot understand why it suddenly 'lost' it's 'Run as Administrator' setting - or maybe why it suddenly required it as I don't remember setting it when I originally installed the Desktop earlier this year?
Incidentally, since you asked, my computer is comprised of :
    AMD Phenon II X6 1100T (6 core) 3.3Ghz - with liquid cooling
Asus Crosshair IV Formula SATA6 (USB 3.0) mobo
    AMD Radeon HD6900 Graphics Card
    8Gb RAM
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64 (SP1)
    2 x Crucial M4 128Gb SSD (C drives - system only) - RAID 1 config
    2 x 1Tb WD Caviar (Black) spinners
Plus the usual other bits and pieces - all of the highest spec available when I built the computer last January.
    Many Thanks
