Chinese ID tags

I have a problem with my ipod photo to itunes compatibility. I have some Chinese songs that I copied onto my new macbook. Upon syncing with ipod, i noticed that the songs are displayed the correct Chinese characters on the ipod... but on my itunes its all strange characters show up. I tried to convert one song ID tag, reverse to UNICODE but still nothing...
Can someone help me out here? Thank you!!!
kidcal

Songs were originally from a PC.
Copied these songs onto a external hard drive.
Then copied onto a Mac Itunes.
And none of the text works...
I suspect the info was messed up during the transfers. You might try fixing it with UnicodeReWriter or ID3Mod. Links are here:
http://homepage.mac.com/thgewecke/mlingos9.html#itunes
I previously synced these songs on my ipod on the PC
using itunes.
Now I am scared that if I delete these and resync in
Mac, I will have the same jargon text on my iPod.
Yes, I think that is what will happen until you fix in info in iTunes on the Mac.

  • Chinese Characters on Zen Mi

(repost in Asia forums as it might be more appropriate)
I have just got the Zen Micro and must say I am quite impressed with it overall. However, there is one problem which really prevents me from enjoying the player, and that is that the player is unable to display the Simplified Chinese ID Tags of my mp3s properly. The ID tags of these tracks are readable in Windows Media Player 0, but when I transfer it over to the Zen Micro, they show up as glibberish. I have tried using Mediasource, but it refuses to even load some of these tracks, while syncing the tracks through My Computer simply causes Windows Explorer to crash.
I believe that there is nothing wrong per se with the tagging of my tracks as these tracks display flawlessly in my other mp3 players like my iPod and my iRi'ver player, so I'm afraid the problem might lie with the Zen Micro itself.. is there an issue with transferring tracks with chinese ID tags using an English Language version of Windows and how do I overcome this problem? I am quite frustrated as quite a large number of my favourite songs are tagged in chinese... hope the Creative engineers can try to fix this problem, perhaps with the WMP0 plugin for the player?I have tried following the instructions in the Knowledge Base regarding Chinese tagged files, but to no avail as they seem to refer to another version of Mediasource. I have spent many hours trying to find a solution to this problem but to no avail, hope someone can help!

I just got the Zen Micro a few days ago and I do like it very much (even though I think the FM reception could be further improved upon). The only thing that has prevented me from fully enjoying my player is the problem I'm experiencing displaying non-English track info. Most of my files are tagged in Japanese Shift-JIS and they're fine on my computer when my Japanese software is turned on, but it *just* won't display correctly on my player and it's getting frustrating (the Zen Micro *is* supposed to be able to display East Asian languages, no?). I've tried everything I could think of.
) I can't change the language and regional settings on my computer to Japanese (or Chinese for that matter) since I'm running WinME and there aren't any options for me to do that anyway.
    2) Changed the settings in the Music Library (using the Zen Micro Media Explorer) to Japanese. My Micro displayed nonsense.
    3) Tried dragging and dropping to the Media Library. Same garbage.
    4) Tried changing the encoding method from Shift-JIS to EUC-JIS. Shows up as a different set of gibberish this time.
    5) I've contacted customer support and done whatever they've told me (rip from the CD using WMP9, rename the file in Japanese, transfer to CMS, then PC Music Library and then to the player). I've tried transferring from WMP to the Zen Micro itself as well. Still no go.
I've even changed the display language in the player itself to Japanese but it's still not working.
Help would be much appreciated. Help please? Somebody? Anybody?

No, the unicode support have bugs for reading the id3 tags.
    Some characters are missed sometimes.
    Its no good.

  • Incorrect Character Tag in Quick Access Bar

    FrameMaker 7.2 (unstructured)
Our writers in China have a document that uses the Body Paragraph Tag (this tag uses Times New Roman as its Character Tag). If the writers add new text within this paragraph, the character tag box in the Quick Access Bar displays Chinese characters rather than Times New Roman.
    Any ideas ?

    Actually, we solved the issue.
By default, the Chinese writers "Text Services and Input Languages" setting in Microsoft XP was set to CH (Chinese). Therefore, any time they went to add text to a FrameMaker document created in the U.S., Chinese characters would appear (and a default Chinese character tag would be used).
By adding the EN (English) service to the Text Services and Input Languages setting in Microsoft XP, and then selecting EN as language of choice when editing U.S. created FrameMaker documents, the problem is solved.

  • ITunes automatically garbled all Chinese characters in mp3 tags

I tried to reinstall my audio collection on my iPod. When I uploaded my collection of Chinese CDs from mp3 files, iTunes automatically turned all ID3 tags into garbage. (So, not only were the tags turned into gibberish in iTunes, the information in the mp3 files themselves was all destroyed.)
I tried to use Right Click > 'Convert ID3 Tags', but got the error "Could not convert ID3 tags for all the selected songs. The songs may be write-protected or of the wrong type." The songs are normal mp3 files and have all protected removed.
    What can I still do?

Correct! I use the "globe" key to switch among keyboard when I need it and English or Italian to make accented characters.
All characters appears displayed correctly before the email is sent.
I did some further checks and discovered that actually arise sometimes when some email Outlook 2003 client is involved in the replies back and forth. Under certain circumstances the font is changed to Sinsum and the accented chars are displayed as...
    à   è   é   ì   ò  ù
    脿 猫 茅 矛 貌 霉
    Any clue?
    Tks.

  • Conditional Build Tags Break on Chinese

Using RH7 (for word) on Win XP with Word 2007.
    Generating HTMLHelp (chm only)
I am trying to take full advantage of Conditional Build Tag
to implement single source output. I have created my help files and
had the text translated into Chinese. I had the person doing the
translation simply add the Chinese text to the end of every English
paragraph. Then I created conditional build tags for English and
Chinese and applied the build tags the appropriate bodies of text.
If I generate "Chinese" it appears to work correctly, however
when I generate "English" I get the English text as well as a few
characters of Chinese at the end of each paragraph. The Chinese
characters that are displayed are seemingly random characters from
the Chinese text, but I can not find any rhyme or reason as to why
    those particular characters are inserted.
Things I have done to troubleshoot...
    - Explicitly excluded Chinese text from output (expression
    was "NOT Chinese") (No Change)
    - Added line breaks between English and Chinese (No Change.)
    - Changed the font encoding ("SimSun" and "Arial Unicode MS")
    (No Change)
I only tried this because the original Chinese text used
    both fonts.
    - Removed punctuation from Chinese text. (No Change)
I suspect there is a problem in RH7 for word when using
Chinese characters, but I bought the new version of RH because it
was supposed to be able to handle the Chinese characters. Well, it
turns out the only official support for Chinese is when using
RH-HTML (which was not mentioned when purchasing.) I have about 10
years of work done in RH for Word and am not excited to migrate to
HTML since some things don't transfer over when importing the
project to HTML, like the conditional build tags for example.
I have uploaded my doc, and an image that helps illustrate
    the problem.
    The Doc: Job_Console_ExtraTech.doc
    The Image: Job_Console_ExtraTech.jpg
They are on the Support Portal FTP site...
Here is the information I used to get there...
    https://www.adobe.com/support/crm_portal/ssi/ftpinfo.html
If anyone else has had success with conditional build tags in
RH7 for Word using Chinese text, I would really like to know if
there are any tricks or secrets that might help me get this working
    correctly.
    Thanks, J

I was a bit bummed when I found out I couldn't do the TOC
with conditionals either. But I made the help files intentionally
graphical so that the TOC, index, and searches are of less
importance. I am using the help files as a sort of graphical
    trainer for an application suite.
It is disappointing that Adobe touted the multilingual
functionality of version 7 and this is what they meant, but it's
    better than nothing.
I am just confused about how the Chinese characters are
showing up when the conditional build tags are clearly supposed to
    be omitting them.
I think the next step is to embrace the HTML transition and
see if I have better luck there. The only daunting thing about that
is recreating all the conditional build tags.

  • Is it necessary to add a language tag for my Chinese pages?

  • Zen 4GB - ID3 tags on songs on memory card showing up as chinese/gibber

Any of the music on my Zen 4gb flash player itself can show the ID tags without any problem.
But, if I put that same music on my SD card and put it into my Zen player and play the music, it shows up as a combination of chinese characters and gibberish.
I've tried formatting the card into different file systems and nothing seems to work. The file names of the songs show up correctly, it's just that the ID3 tags are somehow corrupted.
    Any ideas?
EDIT - For some reason, random songs stored on the SD card ARE showing their correct ID3 tags. I've compared one file to the next and I can see no rhyme or reason.

I have the same problem with files on the card.
    Player:Creative ZEN, Version .2.0e, RAM 8GB
Card: SanDisk UltraII SDHC 5MB/s 4GB
So, if anybody has an idea how to solve this, I also would appreciate this.

  • ITunes/iPod nano & chinese song names [please help]

i own an iPod nano 4gb.
first question is is there a setting i can choose (either in iTunes or the iPod nano itself) to make the on-screen iPod nano text appear larger than the default? anyone that has chinese songs with chinese characters will notice that the font as compared to english text is relatively lighter (not as bold). hence, it is harder to read.
second question concerns chinese music. all my songs are chinese and the song names, artist names, album names etc are in chinese characters. those files that appear with chinese characters by default on Windows appear fine on the iPod nano as well. however, most of my songs require a program called NJStar Communicator (www.njstar.com) to display the chinese characters - those that have chinese music should know what i'm talking about. without NJStar, the names just appear as random symbols in Windows. the problem is, all of the songs that require NJStar appear on the iPod nano as symbols despite the fact that they appear as chinese characters on iTunes when NJStar is turned ON. when NJStar is turned OFF, the names are just displayed as symbols on iTunes. irregardless of whether i update my iPod nano when NJStar is on or off, the names remain as symbols on the iPod nano and i was just wondering if anyone knows how i can fix this or perhaps it's just tough cookies XD
    any information is much appreciated,
    many thanks.

first question is is there a setting i can choose
(either in iTunes or the iPod nano itself) to make
the on-screen iPod nano text appear larger than the

    No.
    however, most
of my songs require a program called NJStar
Communicator (www.njstar.com) to display the chinese
    characters -
I think NJStar uses an encoding which is not compatible with iTunes or iPod. You need to convert the ID3 tags of the songs that require NJStar to display correctly to Unicode. I have heard that ConvertZ is a program that might help do this.

  • How to find out what text encoding has been used in mp3 tag

    Hello
I have some foreign songs that I am importing into itunes. When a song called "04.公路 塵埃 北合起." gets imported, it comes up in itunes as "04.§Ω∏Ù π–ÆJ •¶X∞"
Now I don't know a lot about different text encodings, but from what I've read on the forums is that the problem is that the tags that are encoded on the srcfiles are not unicode. I have tried the java application "UnicodeRewriter" recommended elsewhere in the forums, but both the commone Chinese ecodings, viz Big5 GBK etc.
Is there a way to cut a world from (eg a chinese glyph) and somehow find out what text encouding has been used?

Sorry, that question wasn't very well phrased. I'll try it again.
I have some foreign songs that I am importing into itunes. When a song called "公路 塵埃 北合起" gets imported, it comes up in itunes as "§Ω∏Ù π–ÆJ •¶X∞"

Is there a way I could take the original glyph in the file name (which shows up correctly on my desktop) and paste it into some sort of table. That table will then show me how that glyph will look in all different encodings without the correct conversion. So if I can match my "公" to my "§" I'll be able to see what the src encoding is.
I know this is a longshot, but any help appreciated.
Sorry for the rather rubbish explanation earlier.

  • Issue while parsing the chinese character from Mime Message

    Hi,
I have a issue with the chinese characters while parsing the mime message (MimeBodypart). In the MimeMessage charset is mentioned as "gb2312". i am using the MimeBodyPart.getContent() to get the content. When mimetype is html, it will be uploaded as a file to an FTP site (wapache commons net - ftp client). When uploaded file is viewed, the content is displayed as garbage text.
i tried the following but it didnt work. i got the inputstream from the Mimebodypart. and then created InputStreamReader and used the encoding "GB18030" while initializing the content. i got the String out of it and stored in the file. i just replaced "Gb2312" with "UTF-8" in the html string. While creating the output file, i used the UTF-8 encoding. when opened this file using IE, it is displaying the character without any issues. i examined the file and the file encoding is UTF-8 as expected.
but when i upload the file to FTP site and view, the text is not displayed correctly. It seems the file encodig is ANSI. i used the Notepad++ to examine these files. Please note that we use apache comments net - FTp client to upload the file.
    below are my questions:
am i doing the right thing? it seems mime message was created using outlook.
How to upload a file to FTp withe file base encoding is "UTF-8" or some other ?
    below are few references
    http://www.anyang-window.com.cn/tag/java-gb2312/
    JavaMail: Chinese Simplified Character Problem

Thank you for the Replies. i am using the binary mode and it works fine for most of the files. i found that the issue here is not while uploading but the content itself. the characters present in the Mimemessge is not as per the charset. Hence i could not upload the content as it is. This happens only when charset is GB2312 (chinese). it seems that Mimemessage contains the characters which cannot be represented by Gb2312 but can be represented by Gb18030. Hence i converted the content using from Gb18030 to UTF-8 and created a file. i used the SetControlEncoding("utf-8") to upload the file and it is working fine.

  • Chinese characters failed to display on songs in rip from my own CDs

My old hard disk was dead and I lost some of the songs that I had on my computer.  So I tried ripping my own CDs into iTune.  Unfortunately, all the Chinese characters failed to display properly.  The songs in my old ipod showed those characters nicely and properly so I do not even have guts to sync my old ipod now. Did some research on the net and it said that I can try convert ID3 tags.  Sadly, the new iTunes no longer provide this function.  Went to apple support site and they need me to buy apple care plan!  I have a ipad still in the warranty period but I am extremely disappointed that iTunes, a software, also needs me to pay for support.  This has cast me shadow of having my 4th apple product.  I am using the latest iTunes version 12.0.1.26.  Help on support of local language is truly appreciated.

You wrote "with my last ipod update". Are we talking about syncing your iTunes to the iPod function of your iPhone? Because if not you might be in the wrong forum. If so, then you need to remember that there is no "drag and drop" functionality for transferring your music onto the iPhone. You must first create a playlist within iTunes (I called mine simply iPhone) and then tell the iPhone to sync that playlist to your phone when you connect it to your computer. As you are probably familiar with creating playlists within iTunes you know that you can then drag and drop whatever you'd like into one, including both purchased and imported music.
    Hope that helps.

  • File upload in FormDataMultiPart with invalid Chinese filename in MS Window

    Hi,
I found a strange problem that for the same file loading code work very well in OSX but not in Windows. The chinese filename get corrupted in Windows but not in OSX. I'm using Jersey 1.9 and the server is running Node.js. Is it a Java problem or Jersey?
    here is my code:
    FormDataMultiPart form = new FormDataMultiPart();
    form.bodyPart(new FileDataBodyPart("thumbnail", file));
    System.out.println("******************** =" + file.getName());
    System.out.println("form.getContentDisposition().getFileName() ="

    .getFileName());
    String s = clientResource.path("uploadTagFile").path(tagid)
    .type(MediaType.MULTIPART_FORM_DATA_TYPE)
    .accept(MediaType.APPLICATION_JSON).post(String.class, form);
    try {

    return j;

  • Error message end tag and start tags dont match when publishing to flickr from lightroom 5.3

I have had an ongoing problem that lightroom publishing to flickr times out frequently when uploading many photos.  However, for about the last week or two weeks i have been getting a different error message:
Error message: “Can’t update this collection.  An internal error has occurred:  End tag ‘body’ does not match the start tag ‘hr’.
    Windows 7 system.
I set up a photoset in lightroom (have tried both smart and regular photosets with same results).  These photosets can contain anywhere from 16 to 3000 or more photos. The first photos are uploaded – maybe 10, maybe 100, maybe 1000.  Then it generally seems to stop working.  Sometimes I can continue publishing new photos or republishing, sometimes I cant.  For example I currently have 11 flickr publish photosets in one lightroom catalog, with the following success numbers:
    NAHCR00 total 3044, published: 1851
    NAHCR01 total 748,published: all
    NAHCR03 total: 532 published: all
    NAHCR04  total: 412 published: all
    NAHCR05 total: 340 published: 152
    NAHCR07 total: 248 published: 50
    NAHCR08 total: 524 published: 197
    NAHCR09 total: 44 published: all
    NAHCR10 total: 40 published: all
    NAHCR11 total: 32 published: all
    NAHCR12 total: 124 published: 4
I have succeeded in uploading over 28000 pictures from flickr (mostly from three other lightroom catalogs to several flickr account, both paid and free).  The other catalogs marks the photosets as public  and generally seems to be more successful at uploading.
All of these problem photosets are marked as private so that only I can see them.  The  photos themselves have peculiar names including many special characters including chinese characters, arabic alphabets, spaces, commas, exclamation marks etc etc.  I tried telling lightroom to rename the files to names with no special characters but it still fails.
I emailed Flickr with the above information and this was their response:
Thank you for contacting Yahoo Flickr.
I would first like to apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced while attempting to upload photos to your Flickr account.
First, Lightroom is a 3rd-party application; we can't offer any support for it. Please contact the developer of that application for help.
With that said, please note that there's a known issue with Avast's Web Shield and AVG antivirus that causes issues with uploads. If you have either of these applications, disable the "Link Scanner", add Uploadr to the exceptions list, and then try to upload. If the issue persists, temporarily turn off the anti-virus / firewall and try to upload again.
Please also see the following article on Flickr's upload limitations:
    Flickr upload limitations
Lastly, here are some general troubleshooting steps that you can try:
Most connection issues arise due to a problem between your computer and Flickr and are often temporary. Try the following:
Briefly power off any broadband modems and routers to reset the network connection.
If you connect wirelessly, move your computer closer to the wireless access point, or 'plug in'.
If you're connected through a router, try plugging directly into the broadband modem.
See your manual for configuration options if the router is slowing or blocking uploads.
Also, try lowering your # or matching it to your ISP's value.
      Additional troubleshooting
Try uploading with an alternate method:The web upload page, the Uploadr app, or upload by email.
If you're using an older version of Uploadr, update to the latest version.
Search our forums to see if there are any specific network hardware incompatibilities.
I realize that this isn't a satisfying response to your request, and I am sorry for that. Please let me know if I may be of further assistance, or if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you again for contacting Yahoo Flickr.
    Regards,
    Elliot

I had the same problen with Lightroom 5 - Prepares the files but won't Upload to Blurb. Tried numerours times. It is a Landscape size Book 132 Pages. There is a BUG in Lightroom and here is how I got it to work:
Check each slide and make sure APPLY BACKGROUND GLOBALLY, GRAPHIC or BACKGROUND COLOR and not checked,. If so Uncheck them.
Go to EDIT and SELECT ALL Slides in the Book.
Select Apply Background Globally - turn it off and on several times, then leave it off
Select GRAPHIC - turn it off and then turn it on and off several times
Select BACKGROUND COLOR - turn it on then off then on then off
I ended up with APPLY GLOBALLY unchecked for Every Page.
GRAPHIC was turned on with a Graphic set at 12% Opacity on every Page
Again check each page first for these Checkmarks or just fix exverything with SELECT ALL.
    Background Color was Turned off.
NOW UPLOAD THE BOOK - It took a couple hours but it uploaded without a hitch., I turned off all Firewalls and Plugged directly into the Router. I am using an IMac 27" with 32 GB of memory and this is the only way it would work. The Mac is about 7 days old and Lightroom 5 is also 7 days old. BUGGIEST piece of software I have ever used.
Note - one of the above steps fixes the BUG - I am not sure which one but one will fix your book. It finally uploaded to BLURB today. It took a few hours though.

  • SOLVED - Chinese character appearing as ? in PDF Output

I've created a report reading from a HTTP (XML Feed) data set with .rtf template. When the report is output to data(xml)/ rtf / html, the chinese characters appear fine. However, when user output to PDF, all the chinese characters are substituted with ?.
    Any idea? Thanks.

    Hi, <br>
The <fonts> is part of the <config> tag. So, your 2nd config file looks correct. Can't really see the xml that u've pasted correctly because the <*font> tag get read as HTML in this post. <br>
