Chinese InDesign CC2014 with English UI

I need the abilities from the Chinese InDesign CC, but I can't read too much Chinese to understand the UI. Is there a way to have English UI but still be using the Chinese InDesign?

I need a version of InDesign CC that has English menus and Middle Eastern (Arabic & Farsi) book production capabilities. I've spoken with 5 Adobe support techs but I've not yet received a download link.

Do you have the Creative Cloud app installed? Click on the settings "gear" in the upper-right-hand corner, go to Preferences, choose Apps, and then select "English (الشرق الأوسط)". Then when you download InDesign you'll get the Middle East edtion with English menus and controls for spine-right binding, kashidas, text direction, et cetera.

I volunteered to help a local charity with their program in
China.
They donate school books and funds to keep Chinese kids in
school. Seems
free school stops at age 15 in China.
My problem is a page of mostly English text with a few
Chinese
characters. The page looks and prints perfectly. Yet when I
save the
page in DW8 and preview it in a browser the Chinese
characters become ?
marks. How do I publish a page of mixed text?

OK, I am making progress solving this problem. The page
complains that the
encoding is not correct for some of the characters. So I go
to preferences
>Fonts and select Unicode 4.0 UTF-8 and select OK. But
when I go back to
preferences to verify, the encoding has returned to Western.
Why is all free
work so complicated?

Chinese translation company with InDesign skills

Hi.
I'm lookinf for a chinese translation company for technical translations over the years. I'm in contact with 3 companies and I've requested a 2 InDesign pages test to the better one (or I thought that...). They have send it and it's a blotched job.
So, the question is if you know some company (located in China) with real InDesign skills for english-simplified chinese translations.

Provided the Word document uses regular fonts, you have no problem at all.
If you install the complete suite, be sure to include *all* fonts (can't recall -- if it's not mentioned during install, browse your DVD. There should be a folder somewhere.)
In a default Windows installation, you have a choice between SimSun and MS Mincho, two rather badly drawn Chinese fonts. A slightly better one, but sans, is included in Arial MS Unicode (which may or may not be on your system by default).
BUT! lo and behold, Adobe is aware of this, and supplies not one but several different Chinese fonts, in distinctive designs and extra styles (light / regular / bold -- there is no "italic" Chinese). You can import the text and it'll probably show up as pink boxes, or in its original font (MS Mincho etc.), but then you can select all and choose whatever you like. The 'extended' fonts -- not limited to Chinese -- have their own section in the Font List, near or at the bottom,

alphabetically.

as there are variations in the supported character set. There seem to be several scripts (some of them w/o any Chinese), and not all fonts have all possible characters. If the text is so specialized not one font has all glyphs, you'll have to revert to the font used in Word, but then, even that is no problem for ID.

Using CC2014, I have a psd with smart objects. I would like to place it into indesign along with type & logos. I would like to then export a pdf from indesign hoping that the smart objects stay as vector. Exported a pdf 1.7, but everything rasters. Writing a postscript gives the same results. Any help?

German InDesign CS3 start with english menues

German InDesign CS3 start with english menues.
Reinstall diden't help, but funny things happens when I disable the User Account Control in Vista (64bit). Then InDesing start with german menues. After I enable the UAC and reboot, InDesing started with english Menues.

Adobe InDesign CC2014 has stopped working

I subscribed 2 days ago to Adobe CC but am unable to work on InDesign without getting this response....

Where is Adobe on this issue—any explanation?

If you are able to open ID and do other work, the problem has nothing to do with permissions, so you may safely ignore all of that stuff.
This sounds like some sort of corruption in the style or specific text, ot perhaps a corrupt font (but that would probably cause a crash in ID at launch or whenever the font is used). Start with the technique out lined here: Remove minor corruption by exporting
If that does not work, see if you are able to export the problem story to InDesign Tagged Text (click the cursor anywhere in the story, but don't make a selection, then choose export from the file menu and tagged text from the type dropdown). Place the tagged text into a new frame, then use copy/paste to replace the original text.

Page tool prevents use of Print Booklet feature in InDesign CC2014

Having used the page tool at one time, but with all pages set to the correct size, the print booklet error message is that the booklet doesn't fit the current paper size.
There have been previous discussions, but I can't find one active. The discussion shows as answered, but not resolved. early 2012 this issue was reported as a bug and it is InDesign CC2014, 10.1.0.71 Build. This is the Cloud and this issue has not been resolved.
I went so far as to create a new document and take all the objects from one document and copy to the new document and the issue still exists. I created the document originally in InDesign CS6.I copy pasted contents into a clean document in CC2014. This is a valuable document that needs to be edited and used in the future.
Can someone please respond as to: if this bug that has been reported numerous times in the past, will it ever be fixed? Are we eliminating print booklet at some point so it isn't worth the investment? I don't get it. If there is another discussion open for this, I can't find it. Thanks.

That is not a correct answer. My question was not addressed, however, I very much appreciate the workaround. Go figure…. I think there is a feature in InDesign that if not working, should be removed by the software developers. [back to my question.]
I need to print proofs for a variety of people where I work. I don't want to explain my software is broken and they will need to proof single pages.
I did not know about the print booklet feature in Acrobat. That should suffice nicely.
I still didn't get my question answered, however, so please don't close this discussion.

RoboHelp X3 Japanese with English UI - where to obtain

I need to buy a version of RoboHelp X3 Japanese with English
User Interface. I used to own this product, but we traded it on a
Simplified Chinese version maybe around 2003 when the company was
eHelp. Currently, Adobe no longer sells or supports the Asian
editions. XLSoft sells RoboHelp X3 Japanese with a Japanese user
interface, but I really need the English UI. Does anyone know of a
source for RoboHelp X3 Japanese with English User Interface?

Can I replace InDesign CS6 with InDesign CS6 ME version?

Can I replace InDesign CS6 with InDesign CS6 ME version? And does the ME version interface in English or Arabic?
I have a translator who sends me InDesign files using the Sultan font, but when I open it, a lot of the font shows up as math symbols. I have the correct font installed, but I'm wondering if I need the additional features of the ME version of InDesign to make the type correct on my end.

I don't believe my CS6 is from a Creative Cloud subscription. It was installed by my IT department, so I will ask them.
When I receive the files from the translator, they send both an InDesign file and a PDF, so I can see it as they see it. However, the InDesign file looks like this:

They sent me the font file, so I'm assuming I have the right font and the issue is on my end. Or perhaps not?

Yes.
The Middle Eastern version of InDesign is fully capable of producing "standard" English LTR layouts as well as ME RTL layouts.
Will the resultant InDesign files be openable by another user with a standard Western English version of InDesign?
Yes.
Since CS4, both the RTL and LTR layout of InDesign ME can be opened by the non-ME version (or the "standard Western English version" as you refer to it) since all the RTL functionallty set to the document by the ME version is supportted by the non-ME version.
Are there any other issues that I should be aware of, such as when generating PDFs or printing?
Nothing special I can think of.

InDesign CS5 ME English way Page Layout

Hi, we started using InDesign CS5 ME in our Students association for our Journal, but we faced problems with English Layout pages. I explain: InDesign ME wants to put first page on the left, but we need to put it on the right because our Journal is in English. Page 2 and 3 are also misplaced: Page 2 is on the left and Page 3 is on the right. I unchecked “Allow Document Pages to Shuffle” with no success.
Can anyone help us, please.

I think that there are three different questions going on here:

3) I think that you may be clicking on stuff out of desperation. The language setting is a text-only setting; it does not affect pagination. When you say "aligned the whole thing to left-aligned" I am also imagining that you aligned all of the text to the left side of the text boxes, which also does not affect pagination. So when you say

where did you tell it that? I can't remember where the spine-left or left-binding control is; I don't even remember what it was called. And the Internet is not helpful, but I can tell you that in the new Winsoft product that makes these RTL/LTR tools available in English InDesign (ScribeDOOR), it's called "right bound" and "left bound." I bet that is what you are looking for, right?

When I go the yahoo, everything is in English but after I call up "mail" and log in with my user name and password, the result is a "yahoo hong kong"...and the directions are in Chinese. I need English directions to "send" to delete" etc. I can't read Chinese thanks,

Interestingly, it appears you did manage to get your podcast accepted in the Store - if you did this with an .html feed I'm a bit surprised it worked. I wonder whether you started with an .xml URL and it got changed by accident?
If you did manage to get the Store to accept a feed with an .html extension then you will need to change its attention to the revised version of the feed. This will mean that you will have to leave the present feed where it is, upload a version with the correct extension (having checked it works) and then add the 'itunes:new-feed-url' tag to the incorrect feed as described in this page:

Of course if you managed to change the extension by accident then changing it back should do the job.

I have started without extensions (with "Maj") and then the windows "Nouveautés" appears but totally white, but that is working, i can close the windows and work with indesign. But the windows appears on next launch because I cannot clic on the "don't show next time" case (the windows is white).
Then this windows is the problem (probably directX function that crash my old computer (this one is old)).
Then how can I desactivate this window on startup ?

Extremely Bad Quality Poorly Translated Chinese Apps on the English App Store

Okay, so I am on YouTube when I see one of my favourite YouTubers talk about really bad apps on the App Store. For example, one obviously Chinese developer named "zhenhe xue" has over 100 sub-par- No, these games are horrifyingly bad. For example, there is an app called Baby Makeover. It is 99 cents, so I won't even bother. I have seen the pictures and descriptions, however, and I can tell you that two pictures have Mickey Mouse (Copyrighted) and one has Dory from Finding Nemo (Copyrighted)! It is a generic dress-up game, with a creepy baby that you can pierce, powder, and make her wear so much makeup. Here is the description.
"Thought about their future baby look like it? Now a cute little baby overseas in front of you, come to your mind baby playing baby star it!"
If I talked like that, I would probably be shot by Grammar Nazis. There is a Pou ripoff, horrifying Dress Up games, and obvious ripoffs of other games. There are so many developers like this, where they produce games near-weekly, and the games are mediocre at their best... So here is my question: WHY ARE THESE DEVELOPERS ON OUR HIGH-QUALITY MARKET? Does Apple want quality, or quantity? I would love to either meet the numbskull who thought these games were a good idea, or have all Chinese developers on the English App Store, or any besides their own, banned from making games on these real platforms.
