Chinese Language in EN SAPScript issue

I had to make changes on an existing Sapscript (EN), which had some chinese characters. These chinese characters were appearing as '#' in Normal Editor but were appearing fine in PC Graphical Editor and also in Print Preview.
I made changes (removed a tab space) between 2 chinese characters in column header, all chinese characters only in that line became '#', also in Print Preview. Rest of the chinese characters elsewhere were displaying fine in print preview.
I downloaded the copy of the form from test system (having previous setting) and uploaded in development to overwrite my changes. Now all chinese characters are displayed as '#' in Print Preview. If I copy pasted chinese characters manually it shows '?'.
Can anyone tell me why the characters changed to '#' when I removed a tab space ? And how I can rectify this ?
I am not sure if its Font issue or something as the characters were displayed initially.
Thanks and Regards

Yes. I changed the datastore to default.
I used both method: ODBC driver and IBM iseries access to connect to AS400. ODBC is the same in BODI. In universe, I used default, I can see data. But in BODI, I can't.
My machine is BOE client software. But I created universe in my machine, export it. And then from my machine, I created WI report, also export to CMS. And then I view it in ViewInfo. Everything runs well for both connections.
But in BODI, I use it to migrate data to Oracle. I can't see data in DataView of Designer too. Although, I changed locale, set codepage to default as you told, it didn't work.
Any suggestions please.

Need to import Chinese Language in 4.6C. Not sure if I am doing a mistake. Any help would be appreciated.
    What I did was:
    1. I first added ZH & ZF in SE38->RSCPINST and did the simulate and activate actions.
    2. Then I imported the Chinese ZH Alone in SMLT and English as supplement (Since the language CD did not have ZF and I mistakenly added it in RSCPINST).
    3. Now I go back to SE38->RSCPINST and delete ZF because I did not import it and click Simulate and then activate it does not do anything. It just gives me the following messages and does not go further.

    Hi all,
My source is AS400 with CCSID=935, my target is Oracle with AL16UTF16. I migrate data from source (in Chinese language) to target by DI version 3.0. I used Client Access ODBC driver to connect to AS400.
It run well. But data is not correct, it can't show in Web Intelligence report, they are only square symbol. It's just got issue with Chinese language, for English, it' fine.
I also tried to set code page of source to shift_jis and target to utf8. But it still got the same result.

  • Chinese language pack on English-language Nokia E7...

I'm based in Manila and just bought a Nokia E72 cellphone here locally in the Philippines. The unit is labeled E72-1.
I needed a cellphone which can display Chinese-language (both Traditional & Simplified Chinese) characters.
Unfortunately, this E72 I bought here only has the English language.
I've read that the Nokia E72 in Hong Kong / Taiwan / Singapore can display both English and Chinese language.
Is it possible to have the Nokia E72 add a Chinese language pack to display Chinese characters? I really need the Chinese display capability since I regularly have contacts who send me important SMS messages with Chinese characters.
If it's not possible to add the Chinese character display capability, I may be forced to let go of this Nokia E72 and perhaps have to order it instead from Hong Kong (or perhaps Taiwan or Singapore) where I presume the Nokia E72 there will have the English + Chinese display capability built-in.
Although not as important as the Chinese-display capability, I would also like if it could have Chinese language input capability installed on this E72. Is this also possible?
Note that I don't need the phone system menus/commands to be displayed in Chinese language (and actually prefer them to be English language). I only need the phone to display/input Chinese characters in the SMS messages.
Please advise so that I can make a decision as soon as possible, whether to let go of this locally-bought E72 with only English language and instead procure a unit from abroad with the Chinese language display (and input) capability.

I'd like to add some more information which may or may not be exactly useful for those who have the same issue as mine:
Adding as much Chinese as possible on the E72 without Chinese language pack:
    http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/e72/software
Mobile dictionary language packages Translate words into the language of your choice. Add new languages to your pre-installed Mobile dictionary application from Mobile dictionary download page >>Text-to-Speech language packages and voice packages
Let your phone read your messages out loud with Text-to-speech, a tool which allows you to listen to text messages, multimedia messages, and emails. To utilize your Message Reader application download language packages and voice packages at the Text-to-speech page >>
    1) Using the above page, one can download Chinese dictionary (Traditional and Simplified Chinese versions available).
It seems that after installing both dictionaries for the Mobile Dictionary application, I can fire up the Mobile Dictionary app and choose Target language to Traditional and Simplified Chinese.  The Traditional Chinese characters don't seem to display (some characters display while others are "square boxes"; but the Simplified Chinese characters appear to display correctly.)
So, it appears that the dictionary app can display Chinese characters (at least Simplified Chinese) after installing, although the SMS messages still display "square boxes" where there are Chinese characters.
    2) Download Chinese [Mandarin] (or Chinese [HK]) language text-to-speech.  Now even though the E72 doesn't display Chinese characters (they show up as square boxes), I can use the msg reader to read those "square boxes" messages and it will read them in Chinese.  So at least, that's one way of having Chinese read back to you although the characters themselves can't be displayed.  (Set Language Detection to "On" in the Speech settings so it automatically recognizes Chinese; or one could also set the Voice Language to Mandarin Chinese so that even the voice prompts are read in Mandarin Chinese -- however, if Language Detection is set to "Off", it will try to read English SMS messages as per Chinese pinyin -- ie. incorrectly.).
One bug I notice is that for Chinese character email messages (Nokia Messaging). If I set my Language to English, but set the Speech setting of Language Detection to "On", and then activate the "Listen/Read" email messages, then the Msg Reader will hang up the phone. I had to use a utility called JBakTaskman to forcefully close Msg Reader (if don't have JBakTaskman, then have to turn off the phone and turn it back on).  So it looks like while the Language Detection can auto-detect Chinese characters in SMS messages and read them properly in Chinese, it seems to hang up in Email Messages.

  • Chinese Language Problem.

    Hi Experts,
    Scenario 1:
I have a customer Master in ECC for which all the Basic Data is in Chinese text Name1,Street and so on were in Chinese Language, Language field also has Chinese(ZH).
When i extract the Customer from ECC in the form of IDOC. In WE02 under ADRMAS segment i can see the data in Chinese Symbols (Which is Correct). But when the IDOC hits the XI server all chinese Charcters are changing to ###### Symbols in the Inbound Message and Outbound Message of XI.
So, in MDM Customer Repository record is getting created with ######, Which is not correct.
    Scenario2:
In MDM if i create a Customer with Chinese Language say Name1, Street and so on.. Language is selected as Chinese.
When i syndicate the Record, data is going to XI and the Outbound Message of XI has Chinese Characters, but when i see the
in XD03 all the chinese Characters were converted to ####
From the two scenarios, i feel that there is some Configuration needs to be done in ECC. Correct me if i am Wrong.
Note:Unicode System for ECC 6.0  is marked as 'YES'
if any one has come across this knd of problem, please share what you have done to resolve this.
Let me know if any details you need.
    Thanks
    Sowseel

    Hi Sowseel
in your senario you are facing problem on XI level there is nothing related to MDM as you specified that is once you syndicate records from MDM system Chiense Character (symbol) is diplaying and same from extracting data from ECC which means problem  at XI level so you need to do some language settting on XI server level with help of XI and basis team
    Senario as follows :
    1. Just check IDOC at XI level i.e  field contain Chiense charachter(Symbol) before posting IDOC to ECC
    2. if IDOC  has Chiense charachter(Symbol) at XI level before sending to ECC then problem at ECC level then in thus case you need to make neccesary language setting at ECC level not XI server level
Just test above senario and reply back if you are facing problem and closed this thread
Even i faced similer kind of issue at my client place and it got resolved with help of basis team  by doing some setting at XI serve level

  • UTF8 character set conversion for chinese Language

    Hi friends,
Would like to some basic explanation on UTF8 feature, what does it help while converting the data from chinese language.
Would like to know what all characters this UTF8 will not support while converting from chinese language.
    Thanks & Regards
    Ramya Nomula

Not exactly sure what you are looking for, but on MetaLink, there are numerous detailed papers on NLS character sets, conversions, etc.
Bottom line is that for traditional Chinese characters (since they are more complicated), they require 4 bytes to store the characters (such as UTF-8, and AL32UTF8). Some mid-eastern characters sets also fall in this category.
Do a google search on "utf8 al32utf8 difference", and you will get some good explanations.
    e.g., http://decipherinfosys.wordpress.com/2007/01/28/difference-between-utf8-and-al32utf8-character-sets-in-oracle/
Recently, one of our clients had a question on the differences between these two character sets since they were in the process of making their application global. In an upcoming whitepaper, we will discuss in detail what it takes (from a RDBMS perspective) to address localization and globalization issues. As far as these two character sets go in Oracle, the only difference between AL32UTF8 and UTF8 character sets is that AL32UTF8 stores characters beyond U+FFFF as four bytes (exactly as Unicode defines UTF-8). Oracle’s “UTF8” stores these characters as a sequence of two UTF-16 surrogate characters encoded using UTF-8 (or six bytes per character). Besides this storage difference, another difference is better support for supplementary characters in AL32UTF8 character set.
You may also consider posting your question on the Globalization Suport forum which pertains more to these types of questions.

Ive been working on the Chinese language input issue for about a day now and have found it very frustrating.  Im not sure why there seems to be so little support for this and an absence of this feature in the included software.  I know for a fact that these are sold in chinese speaking markets.  I think its a real failure on the part of BB and will probably be returning mine infavor of another product.
