Chinese map in English on heremaps.cn

Hello, I am Swiss an live in China. My language settings on Here are set to English.... so why can't I have the map in English ? I only have in Chinese. Only if I use a VPN and access the US website, there I can see the China map in English.
Is this the same for all the foreigners using Nokia in China ? Not counting the tourists who'd like to use Here when traveling in China.... Isn't it possible for you to have at least two maps on the .cn website ?
Moreover, the collections are really really slow to get without VPN....
I am hesitating to buy myself a Lumia but the map in Chinese is a serious problem for me...

but thank you for mentioning about the phone... I will still double check before buying...
But I hope they will fix this... it's sometimes so convenient to search for a place on your big screen... save it and then get it on your phone when you're in the car...

Why all the domain values disappeared from ESB control after chinese map?

hi,
when I creating a domain value in chinese in the ESB control and confirm it, After I restart the
soa service, all the domain values that I created before and the one in chinese disappeared.
Although the domain values in english desappeared, in the code they are still can be used.
But the domain values in chinese can not be used.
All the maps(both english and chinese ) are in DVM Repository.
Can you help me ??? Why all the domain values disappeared from ESB control ?? thanks

two collegues of mine ran into a similiar problem. Their ESB console seemed empty as well.Until one of them let the console open for about 10 minutes and the services/system re-appeared.
Indicating that when the services do not show up could also be caused by a serious performance glitch or the services are calling external systems which time out.
Another option is to wait for a few minutes and see if your services etc show up again.
I don't know where this performance degradation is coming from though. The only thing I noticed is that the ORAESB schema ( advanced install ) is installing al of its objects in the USERS tablespace and that most ( almost all ) tables do not have any indexes / pk / fk's on them.
Maybe one or two indexes could speed up the ESB repository considerably.
Dave, In the upcoming 10.1.3.3 release is the repository in any way altered? Default tablespace? PK/FK and/or extra indices on certain tables/columns?

ADF components do not display Chinese simplified (showing English instead)

Dear All
I am having a problem getting ADF components to display in Chinese simplified language. Buttons display in Chinese correctly however components such as: < af:table > (the previous and next values do not display in Chinese, again in English only).
I have tried it under Japanese and these components show Japanese.
Any ideas on what the problem may be caused by would be greatly appreciated.

Actually I found the problem.
It seems that the language resource bundle has the incorrect name. Renaming:
oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.ui.laf.oracle.desktop.resource.BLAFBundle_zh_CN.java
to
oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.ui.laf.oracle.desktop.resource.BLAFBundle_zh.java
resolved my problem.

How to convert chinese numbers into english?

I would like to know is there any API or code available to convert Chinese Numbers to English numbers.
ex: chinese input is 萬一三
i should convert this to 10013.

I would try using a numberFormat, but I don't know if it can parse a String with chinese characters.

Oracle 10g install dbca always in Chinese and not English language

I installed/re-installed Oracle 10g several times including removing registry entries, C:\Oracle directory, C:\Program Files\Oracle and empty c:\temp folders,
set my windows xp languages to English (Can) and u.s. only
The dbca always comes up in Chinese language and not in English no matter what I did. Is there a simple way to reset dbca to english without reinstalling Oracle 10g even though I really want to know why and how it picks up Chinese language as default ?

I searched for "chinese" in oracle folder and found it in my install log where based on registry settings, it took my default language as Chinese.
I searched google, nothing until I came across how to set languages in xp.
To solve this annoying problem on xp:
Go to settings/control Panel/Regional and Language options/
under language tab, make sure both Thai and East Asian languages boxes are unchecked
under advanced tab, select language version non-unicode programs, pick English (Canada) drop down, I had Hong Kong SAR before. Clicked apply and come back in again to ensure no code page version tables for Asian languages are checked on this Advanced tab. Restart computer and that's it !

Chinese punctuation following English/Latin characters are not rendered

I'm displaying a mix of English and Chinese in the same paragraph. Whenever chinese punctuation (0xFE00 to 0xFE6F) is following latin characters (0x0000 to 0x00FF), the chinese punctuation is shown as "empty square". The punctuation displays correctly otherwise when not following latin characters.
It behaves the same on Windows and Mac. I'm using device 'Arial' font. You can see that in the two attachments. They're from the same <span>, the chinese comma (0xFE50) is not displayed in 'NotWorking.tiff' file, but displayed correctly in 'Working.tiff'.

Chinese Font and English Font in one paragraph

I am working on a book translated from English into Traditional Chinese, using Indesign CS4 under WinXP sp3. In many cases I need to put English words among Chinese Characters. I set up Character Styles to apply the English Fonts I want, then doing word by word manually. Besides of the slow speed, it's easy to make mistakes doing by hand. I desperatly want to find a way to set up PARAGRAPH STYLES that I can specify both Chinese and English Fonts in a same paragraph stye. Will be very apprecited if someone please teach me how to get it.

Yes it can be done in CS4. I am doing a billingual book in Chinese and English. What you can do is select the paragraph,
1. Open "Paragraph styles", double click - "Basic Paragraph", Select "Basic Character Formats", Change the Font to a Chinese Character (e.g. SimSun and the size is 12)
2. Don't close the box, then select "GREP Style", select "New GREP Style", click "Apply Styel" and Select "New Character Style"
3. a New Character Style Box comes up, then select "Basic Character Formats" and select the English Character (e.g. Arial and the size is 14), then OK.
4. Will back to Paragraph styles box, then click "To Text" and select "Wildcards" and select "Any Letters", then click OK. It is done!!
I tried many ways before, and how I am getting used to it. Remember, if you have many different styles need to be set, (for example: Title (with both languages), contents (with both languages), you can set different Character's Name for different purposes when the "New Character Style" box comes up.

Only way to change the default language (assuming you don't have a program called "CKJOS" installed, right?) is to Hard Reset the device. When it reboots, it will give you a choice of language to choose IF the Palm device is a "International" version. There were Palms made that came with only a single language on them!
If you have a single language version, you will not be given an offer to change the language...

If you have the Firefox user interface (menu bar) in the wrong language or want to change the current language then you can get Firefox in the language of your choice here:

Uninstall the current Firefox version, but make sure that you do not remove your personal data.

Don't forget to "...tap the bright blue icon in the upper right" after selecting your language. It can be hard to discern because the "done" icon is now in Chinese but it won't activate the language you want until you tell it you are done.
