Chinese on ipod

Hi, my ipod cannot read chinese. I am using window XP and i have installed NJ star. I can see chinese on itunes but not all characters, some are funny. After i transferred to ipod, the chinese characters do not show, all funny characters. Are there anyone can help me to solve the problems. Many thanks

You need to control panel>regional and langues>advanced......change your langues to chinese[prc} or chinese [taiwan],chinese[prc} for symplified charecter, chinese [taiwan] for traditional charecter....but make sure your song title is symplified charecter or traditional charecter

Don't try to jailbreak it 3d party software is not always 100% qualified stuff. E.g., yesterday I've put Russian localization pack on my iPod and got a lot of "surprises": crashing keyboards & iPod apps, crappy not smoothed fonts etc.
There is also no Russian || Ukrainian keyboard on iPod. That's Ok, but adding / changing contact details in the Address Book or editing iCal event is a really weird thing. Why should I use translitaration or write everything non-native language?! That's stupid that localization doesn't include language inputs.

  • Multi Language iTunes?

For iTunes 4.9, since I have both English and Traditional Chinese versions of Windows XP, I have to download the English and Traditional Chinese versions of iTunes 4.9 from the US and Taiwan Apple site respectively.
But for iTunes 5.0 this does not seem to be necessary, the file size of iTunes 5.0 downloaded from the US and Taiwan Apple sites are exactly the same, and the installer seems to be able to detect the language of Windows installed. Can anyone confirm my suspicion that iTunes 5 is now multi-language like the iPod software updater?
By the way, I saw a number of people here having problems with iTunes 5 and wanted (or needed) to downgrade to iTunes 4.9. I have no problems with iTunes 5 so far. And in anticipation of possible problems and need to downgrade I always keep the previous installers of iTunes (I have saved every one of the iTunes 4.5 to 5 installers in English and Traditional Chinese) and iPod software updater just in case, though I have never found it necessary to downgrade myself. May be that is what you should have done and have to do in the future. Just my two cents.

  • ITunes/iPod nano & chinese song names [please help]

i own an iPod nano 4gb.
first question is is there a setting i can choose (either in iTunes or the iPod nano itself) to make the on-screen iPod nano text appear larger than the default? anyone that has chinese songs with chinese characters will notice that the font as compared to english text is relatively lighter (not as bold). hence, it is harder to read.
second question concerns chinese music. all my songs are chinese and the song names, artist names, album names etc are in chinese characters. those files that appear with chinese characters by default on Windows appear fine on the iPod nano as well. however, most of my songs require a program called NJStar Communicator (www.njstar.com) to display the chinese characters - those that have chinese music should know what i'm talking about. without NJStar, the names just appear as random symbols in Windows. the problem is, all of the songs that require NJStar appear on the iPod nano as symbols despite the fact that they appear as chinese characters on iTunes when NJStar is turned ON. when NJStar is turned OFF, the names are just displayed as symbols on iTunes. irregardless of whether i update my iPod nano when NJStar is on or off, the names remain as symbols on the iPod nano and i was just wondering if anyone knows how i can fix this or perhaps it's just tough cookies XD
    any information is much appreciated,
    many thanks.

    No.
    however, most
of my songs require a program called NJStar
Communicator (www.njstar.com) to display the chinese
    characters -
I think NJStar uses an encoding which is not compatible with iTunes or iPod. You need to convert the ID3 tags of the songs that require NJStar to display correctly to Unicode. I have heard that ConvertZ is a program that might help do this.

  • My iPod touch with iOS 4.3.3 (with Portuguese language) shows maps in Chinese, making it impossible to use the function "Itinerary". What can be?

Recently restored my iPod touch (32GB, 3rd Generation, iOS 4.3.3 in Portuguese,non-jailbroken) and when I went to use the application "Maps", I came across it in Chinese. Iq do not understand nothing of the language. I've been on the "Settings > General > International > Region Format > Brazil" and to no avail.
And this is not happening only in the iPod, but in my iPad (1st generation 32GB, withsame settings)
    What should I do?
Is that the problem is on Google or on my iPod?
    See the screenshots:
In the bar "Itineraries," these Chinese characters (or Japanese) are hindering my life ...
The entire map is in Chinese.

  • Ipod says "Use ITunes to Restore", then Chinese! Did I lose all music?

I used my ipod nano (dont know the generatino, but got it x-mas 06) yesterday. I plugged into a new computer and then installed ITunes. When I ejected the ipod, it stated "Use ITunes to Restore" then everything was in Chinese. When it is plugged in initially it states "ITUnes has detected an ipod in recovery mode. You must restore this ipod before it can be used with Itunes". It is not even stating my ipod name on the itunes page . Has anyone any idea here? I am completely lost and have NO backup of my music Thanks!

So, hitting "restore" is the only way to solve this
    Yes.
Basically all music that I downloaded from CD's, will be gone
Did you delete it from iTunes after you put it onto the iPod?

  • IPod cannot show chinese character now, previously can

    Hi everyone,
    Thanks for trying to help.
So I have some songs with Chinese characters in the song names. They work perfectly fine, I mean before, when they become symbols, I just use the ID3Mod to convert them and import them into my iPod nano and I can see all right names.
Now, I don;t know what happened, I just discovered today. I found that most of the chinese characters cannot be displayed, they did not become strange monsters symbols, but " " blank.
Do Anyone have any idea what have happened ?
The thing I did today is just import a few new songs.
P.S: those names shown perfectly well in iTunes
    Thanks very much.

I've got the same problem with itunes, quicktime, and also imported Safari bookmarks (the list is doubtless longer than that, but that's what I use and have noticed so far)
The OS recognises the Chinese, in fact in most cases I wrote the Chinese text in Mac OSX, and it displays the text correctly in the file name but when you open in itunes or quicktime it's scrambled into nonsense.
Since Chinese people constitute 1.3 Billion consumers that's a pretty poor show from Apple.. (LOL)

Hi, I just put all these chinese songs onto my ipod, but the names get messed up. Is there anyway that the names can go back to chinese without me having to change the language on my ipod?
