Chinese symbols appearing when file goes to print

Hi, Can anyone help! I recently put together a job for print using Indesign CS3 and saved it as a press ready PDF using in designs own built in PDF presets. It all looked fine at my end, but when the printer printed it, some of the fonts turned into to chinese symbols. I had imagined that the fonts should have automatically been embedded, so how can this happen? By the way, the font that changed was Nueva Std (just incase this helps).

Unfortunately my client is working directly with the printer and has
not given me their details so i can not ask them what has gone wrong.
It is amazing to think that a printer cannot deal with PDF's though!
They did ask for the file to be sent with all text to outline (I
missed the one that turned all chinese). This in itself is strange as
should not be necessary, so it does sound like the printer has
probelems. The silver plate also turned to cmyk. I think I had better
try to get the printers number from my client and see if I can get to
the bottom of this as this has never happend to me before.

How can I deactivate the FAX modem menu which appears when I try to print a web page?

I have a PC that is not connected to a telephone and I have never selected the FAX icon. Two weeks ago I was suddenly unable to print web pages because a menu concerning setting up a FAX modem appears when I push the Print command. On the Printers and Devices page the FAX icon is not selected. How can I deactivate the FAX menu?

A new tab now appears over my home page which is set correctly; the same tab appears when I want to print from internet and I CAN'T PRINT.

A new tab has suddenly appears over my home page when I go online. I don't know where this came from; is it a Mozilla Firefox thing? Even worse, when I try to print from internet, this page appears instead of my printer box and I am unable to print what I want.

You may have an unwanted extension that is modifying sites (or the toolbar area). Try this:
Disable ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Does that flush the tab?
Please report back on anything suspicious you find so others can learn about its bad behavior.

Document Numbering Options appears when files are opened

Hello,
I am about to got to press with a 240 page catalogue. I consists of about 20 separate files in a book and all pages are automatically numbered. When I open files from the list in the book menu the Document Numbering Options menu often appears, even though I have made no changes to the book or files that would affect numbering.
The auto page numbering button is always checked so I just hit OK and get on with my edits. It does not appear to affect page numbering so seems to be harmless but as I am about to print 10,000 of these catalogues I want to be confident that the pages will be numbered correctly!!
Is there a reason why the numbering menu appears without any apparent need for it?

try resetting preferences by holding down shift-ctrl-alt (win) or shift-cmd-alt (mac) while starting ps. you'll see a confirmation dialog if done correctly.

Report cant print Chinese character properly when direct output to printer

I have follow the instruction {How to Print PDF/UTF8 in R12? [ID 778970.1]} {PASTA 3.0 Release Information}
I am able to print the chinese character properly in PDF format. (direct to printer)
However, some standard report like "Final Payment Register" "TEXT format" NOT able to print chinese character(direct to printer)
When I preview the report it can display chinese character properly.
Please advise

Images won't appear when file is loaded

I currently have a PC at home and I started a project there with images imported from an illustrator file.
It worked fine at home until I brought it to school and loaded it on a Mac. All my images are blank, however there is still a bounding box around them but there's nothing inside. Even the files in the project panel don't show up when I drag it to another composition. I tried to import the illustrator file again and when I did, the images worked, but that would mean I would have to redo the whole project when I've already finished it.
When I took the file and loaded it at home again, it worked fine. It seems like I need to update my files for it to show, but I'm not exactly sure how. Does anyone know how I can fix this error and get the images loading? It would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Check whether the machine at school has correctly been updated to A§ 8.0.2. Several not so minor bugs were fixed with the updates. also check your files on Illustrator (Mac) and if necessary, re-save them from there.

I have read others have this problem too but nobody could figure out what was wrong which is unnerving just in case it's some sort of virus

The McAfee SiteAdvisor extension has been reported to cause this issue, so you can disable this extension.

PDF always appears rotated 90* counterclockwise when I try to print in preview

Whenever I save a PDF onto my computer and open it using system viewer, the slides are always rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise. I then proceed to view the thumbnail, select all slides, and reorient them correctly. However, when I go to print the slides, the are still oriented at 90*. I want to print 4-6 slides per page using portrait, but I can't seem to figure this problem out. Any help is greatly appreciated. I'll post pictures below to show you what I'm talking about. Thanks.
This is how the PDF appears in Google Chrome Before I save it.
I then save the PDF to my documents.
PDF is shown as downloaded at the bottom of the window.
This is how it appears when I open it with system viewer.
I select all images in thumbnail to realign the images.
The images now seem to be aligned correctly.
This is how they appear when I try to print them using portrait. I can't figure out how to align them properly...

That's what I do to rotate all of the images, the problem is when I go to print the document it remains rotated. In the background of this image, you can see the slides are oriented correctly. However, the slide is still rotated in the print menu. Thanks for your reply.

How to make a button on a form that will not appear when printed?

I have a rather strange request that I got recently from my employeer regarding a form that we are currently working on:
We have a form with a Acrobat created button on it that links to an attachment. She does not want the button to appear when the document is printed.
Is this even possible??

You can set the form field to be "Visible but doesn't print" rather than "Visible". This is far easier than the scripting solution.

Error when trying to create printed documentation in RH 7

Hello,
I've created a WebHelp project in RH 7 that I'm trying to
make a PDF for, as well. An error always appears when trying to
generate printed documentation, even if only the PDF option or the
Word option is selected. RH 7 processes and builds each of the
pages, index, images, etc. It gets to the very end on the status
bar and an error appears that it failed to generate the PDF.
In the output view, I see that it successfully processed
everything until the end when it says (the last four lines are the
error):
Updating Table of Contents...
Updating Index...
Saving 'GVE_Help_.doc'...
Generating 'GVE_Help_.pdf'...
Failed the generate PDF file '(The path is written here but
has been removed for this post)'...
Failed to save 'GVE_Help_.doc'...
Cleaning up temporary files...
Internal error encountered, Failed to generate Printed

Is there any way to get the Printed Documentation to work
properly in RH 7? I receive the same error for any of the WebHelp
projects I've opened in RH 7. I'm using Windows XP and have Word
2003 on my PC if that helps. I believe, but not too sure, RoboPDF
is still on my PC. May this have something to do with it?

Try generating just to Word and then creating the PDF from
there. There is a known problem which affects some users but not
others. Cause not known.

Odd Code and Chinese Letters in Compressor Files / Magic Bullet Questions

Is anyone getting odd code in Compressor files they have rendered? For example, when I render a file, and check the "info" of the file, under "kind" I will have references to a plist and a bunch of Chinese symbols. The file seems to work fine, but I was just wondering if this code is due to a plist I need to remove or if there is a corrupt file working in Compressor.
Any thoughts?
Also, I used to have Magic Bullet installed on my computer, but when I did a reinstall of Compressor, the Magic Bullet Looks software stopped working. I have tried fresh installs with no luck. I can't even install a trial version of Looks or Quick Looks that works. Any ideas?
I had to reinstall Compressor when I loaded Soundtrack onto my computer. I didn't have an option.

IPhoto tells me "No Available Themes" when I try to print

For a couple days now an alert "There were no themes located. Until at least one theme has been installed, this feature will be unavailable" appears when I try to print.

In the printer driver (accessed through the Page Setup button) set the Advanced tab to borderless. Then in the right hand panel under Layout set all the margins to zero.
