Chip set in A660-BT3G25x?? Is it an HM55 or HM65 Intel Express??

I am thinking about buying a customized version of the above computer?? How about any of you that may have bought the above machine since Toshiba started putting the "Fixed" Intel HM65 Express Chip Set into their machines with the "Second Generation" Intel Procerrors? Toshiba shows, on their PDF Spec Sheet, that their customizable machines, as above(A660), have the first generation HM55 chip sets not the up-to-date "Fixed" HM65, with the second generation generation processors, in these machines. When checking with Toshiba on this, I get yes's and no's from both Toshiba direct and Toshiba Support. Seems no one knows for sure?? I hope they are not tring to unload excess stocks of their HM55 sets in the hope no one will see that they are not getting the best machine that they should!! Any comments that help to resolve this question will be appreciated as Toshiba Direct and support seem to be at odds about the situation??

Well, despite my pontificating above, it would seem wolfkiel is has a point about the A660-BT3G25X Specifications sheet. But, notice this spec sheet shows the model number as A660-BT3G25, NOT A660-BT3G25x
There was some concern raised here about the Sandy Bridge chipset at the end of January. All these models were mentioned for recall-refund in this Support Bulletin:
Satellite A665-3DV10
PSAW9U-001001
Satellite A665-3DV11
PSAW9U-01C002
Satellite A665-3DV12
PSAW9U-019002
Satellite A665-S5183 PSAW9U-01M002
However, in the above linked bulletin, notice that:
"A number of Model Part Numbers, originally affected by the Intel issue, are being re-released with the new Chipset. These units will have Model Names, printed on the computer's box and serial number labels, which have been modified with a lower case x as displayed in the picture below. These units are NOT affected by the previously reported Intel issue."
When you now check all of the above models' specification sheets with the 'x' on the end of the model name/number, they all have the HM65 chipset. While the beginning Part Number PSAW9U has remained, 2 have had the ending Part Number for these 'x' models has changed, 1 ending the same, 1 missing. Examples:
Model Name: A665-3DV10x Part Number: PSAW9U-001001
Model Name: A665-3DV11x - Specs sheet missing
Model Name: A665-3DV12x Part Number: PSAW9U-01903T
Model Name: A665-S5183x Part Number: PSAW9U-01M03T
Given all the above, I suspect that the original spec sheet meant for the A660-BT3G25 slipped through by accident, instead of the A660-BT3G25x spec sheet.
So, my sincere apologies to wolfkiel!

Can't install an HP Pro 8600 all in one with full features on a Desktop with windows 7 64 bit OS, PC has an AMD chip set, connection is wireless.
This printer is replacing an HP Pro 8500 all in one that failed. HP's only solution was to upgrade to the 8600. All 8500 software was removed before attempting to install the 8600.
The installation recognizes the printer & IP address. In the last step of the setup the network connection is not recognized. When I try to add a printer in Windows, the Microsoft drivers are installed and the printer works fine, but no scan or fax.
I had success installing this wireless setup on 2 desktops (windows 7 & XP OS) and a laptop running VISTA. All of these have Intel CPU's. The installation completed fine.
The HP Installation CD has an AMD64 folder (with "hpinkins5912"), but no instruction on setup or updating AMD drivers.

Hey @mech3320 ,
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to ask that question on the HP Forums today!
I understand that you are having some trouble with the driver download on your AMD chipset but not your Intel one.
I recommend that you try the web download of the drivers after you uninstall the ones that you tried form the CD.

Let me know if the web drivers work better for you or not.

The RS480M2-IL haa a CnQ option in Bios.
Installing the AMD driver and setting the Power Scheme to "Minimal Power Management" in Power Options is required to enable CnQ in XP.

Hello Danno ^^¿''
Well, I just bought the RS480M2-IL with a Venice 3000+ and 1 GB DDR, I've tested the Video onboard(all the newest drivers installed) with the 3DMARK 2001, and I just can get 3052 ptos...so .. please tell if you has made some time ...and how's your score?

• Graphic Chip Set

Can the Graphic Chip Set, in my MBP, be changed? If so will my MBP recognize and utilize a bigger and better one?? How big of a job is it to change, if it can be done??? The reason I am asking these questions is because I have already purchased a Pioneer 203 internal BD burner, that came with the necessary software, and installed it in a quad interface enclosure. I then connected it to my MBP, with a FW800 connection. Cyber Link tells me my graphic card is the minimum graphic card to be had. Which means I can play BD movies, and my MBP does, but for the higher levels of BD I need a better Graphic card. By the way, this is on my Vista side of Boot Camp.

Unfortunately, I don't think there is a way to do this. According to MacTracker, your Mac only shipped with the 2.33 GHz processor. Generally the chip set is not considered to be replaceable--the logic board would have to be swapped out. Some other models are offered with 2 different processor speeds, and if that were the case, it might be possible to swap out logic boards and install the one with the faster processor. And as far as I know, the logic boards from a later build would not be able to be installed in the Mac that you have.
If you truly need a bigger and better graphics chip, you probably need to invest in a newer MBP.
Good luck!

• Intermittent error on x86 chip set: Cannot validate provider JSDP

Hello,

I am experiencing an intermittant issue on an X86 chip set machine running Solaris 10.

I have statically registerd the JSDP provider with the jre used by WLS by adding it to the java.security file:
security.provider.8=com.entegrity.jsdp.security.provider.JSDP

I did not copy the jsdp.jar file to the jre ext folder however as this causes class loading issues.

This was all that was required to allow the JSDP provider to be trusted by the jvm on sparc solaris 10 machine, however on the X86 machine we get the following error:

I initially appced the ejb on again on the X86 machine and this seemed to resolve the issue however the next day the problem returned, apprantly no one had touched anything..

I have asked the ejb vendor to dynamically register the JSDP provider which is used to establish trust of a signed jar file.

Does anyone else have any ideas I can try for instance can I register the provider on using environment varibles that I can pass to the WLS managed sercer JVM, or has anyone experienced similar issues on WLS9.2, JDK1.5.11 running on Solaris 10 X86?

Hello,
What API guide are you looking at? It appears your version of FDM is 9.3.0 and I do not see anything like what you are mentioning in the v9.3.0 API guide.
Keep in mind that newer API guides might not contain all the information from previous releases are are only valid for the release for which they were intended.
On a side note a Permissions Denied - 70 error generally can be traced with ProcessMonitor / ProcessExplorer ... I would start there.
Thank you,

• Support for OpenVMS v7.1-2 on EV6 chip set question...

Folxs
I have a new EV6 Alpha available and want to run Forte on it.
OpenVMS v7.1-2 is a supported OS for Forte v30G2 and 30L2 I think.
OpenVMS v7.1-2 is a supported OS for the new EV6 Alpha chipset.
Will Forte v30G2 or 30L2 work on this hardware?
Is it supported on this platform?
When will it be supported on the EV6 chip set and what version of Forte do I
need?
Thanks,
Dirk
PS: Anyone out here using the EV6 and Forte?

I'm almost sure that Sun's DS (5.x or 6.x) has never been offered for Itanium (for HP-UX or any other OS).
Someone from Sun may have a better answer.
Of course, the download list here will give you a good answer too:

• Mini's chip set supports OpenGL?

Hi All,
It's time to upgrade my Mac (it's only 7 yo, and just keeps ticking). I need to buy two laptops for other family members, so I can't spend much cash on myself. The software package that I'm using is drifting toward opengl for 3D visualization. It's not gaming software, so fps isn't a major factor. Just as long as the opengl library is supported by the Intel graphics chip set.
Also, the kids use iMovie quite a lot. Does that preform well on the mini?
Thanks for your input.
Jeff

The answer is yes. See: http://developer.apple.com/graphicsimaging/opengl/

What are the symptoms of the new problems revealed by Intel? I am using a 2007 Mac Pro. Having many problems and am unsure if it is related.

The new problems are related to the new Sandy bridge Cougar Point line released last month.
The issues that the Cougar point processors have bear no relation to any that you may have.

• Can I upgrade the 32mb video chip set on my DX9000, running 64 bit Windows 7

I currently have the original driver for the Intel G41, Intel G45/G43 and Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset.
I got tired of building my own PC's, this is my first all in one. I can not find any slots for video cards.

This can be done by sharing the printer on the XP system and adding it to the Windows 7 system using a Windows Update driver.
The first part is to install and share the printer on the Windows XP system.
To share the printer on the XP system, follow the steps in this document from Microsoft. I recommend using something simple for the printer share name as it will need to be entered on the Windows 7 system.
The next step is adding the printer to the Windows 7 computer. Make sure to uninstall the printer from the Windows 7 computer before continuing.
1. Go to Start>Devices and Printers.
2. Click on Add a printer at the top.
3. While it is a networked printer, it is not the current network standard printer. Select Add a local printer.
4. Select Create a new port with a local port for type.
5. Enter \\<host computer name>\<printer name> without the < > symbols. The host computer name is the name of the computer that has the printer attached to it. If you do not know that name, go to the host computer and go to Start>Right-click Computer (My Computer on XP)>Properties. The computer name will be listed here. The printer's share name was selected in a previous step in the Microsoft article.
6. Click Ok and the printer driver screen will appear. Click on Windows Update to ensure it is the most current list.
7. Select the printer model from that list.
8. Follow the rest of the prompts.
At the end of these steps, the printer should be shared from the host computer to the other Windows 7 computers.
Let me know what happens.

• Ext Hard Drive Prolific PL3507 Chip Set: Can't boot OS from Ext Drive

I can not get my supposedly Mac compatible Ultra (uses the Prolific PL3507 chipset) external hard drive enclosure to start up as my OS. Tried the FW and USB ports....
Help!
thanks
tc

Thanks for the response!
Yes, used DU to partition the drive for HFS extended journaled....
No, I intalled the OS via the OS install disc...
Yes my drive is visable and accessible and mounts readily...I can't move files back and forth etc....but when I try to boot via Firewire I get a grey screen as the PB searches for the OS....I eventually have to hard shut down the computer and reboot with the drive disconnected and use the keyboard during the reboot to get it to boot back on the PB.
I have found some threads on the web that say the Prolific is not the best....the tech support at Ultra tell to ask Apple for the latest driver....but it is their product...So that doesn't seem to be going anywhere....
thanks again

• Is there anyway to run older versions of software on the new mac chip set?

I've got an older version of photoshop that ran fine on my 5 year old mac mini...which won't run on my brand new mac mini....anyone have the same problem and a work around....

The error message reads, "You can't open the "Adobe Photoshop CS.app" because PowerPC applications are no longer supported." Would running an earlier version of OSX correct this?
