Chipmunk audio in classic

quicktime version currently is 7.04, have not updated to 7.1 yet and in classic it is 6.5. Running any classic apps causes the audio to be sped up and it is impossible to make any of it out. starting up the classic version of qt and manually having it open a file yields the same result. not really a huge issue, mostly kids games and such, but if any one has any ideas i'd be glad to hear them.
thanks

Hey did you find any solutions? I'm running into the same problems, would appreciate feedback and possible ways to fix this problem?
Thanks!

I have a feature length documentary that sporadically but maddingly has the audio of random clips suddenly sound like Alvin & The Chipmunks, requiring me to delete the offending clip & reimport from original media. Anyone know what causes this & ways to solve and/or prevent this issue?

  • Chipmunk audio

Not sure what happened here, but all of a sudden, my onboard audio plays all audio at hyperspeed.  My mp3's sound like chipmunks, windows login chime sounds like high bells, etc.  I had my system overclocked at 2480 (8x310) stably, and never had any problems.  Here's what I have done to try and fix this problem:
    - Removed audio drivers and restored realtek drivers
    - Tried NVidia audio drivers
    - Restored known good OS image
    - Disabled and reenabled onboard audio from BIOS
Still not fixed.  Is there something I'm missing here, or does this board need to be RMA'd?
    Help!

True.  I'll probably go and buy one later today.  In the meantime, I've discovered that all my multimedia files play at hyperspeed, including video clips and movies straight from the hard drive.  CD's and DVD movies from the DVD-ROM also play the same way.  I've installed the latest video drivers for my ATI 9550 as well, to no effect.

  • Vado audio out of synch with video when I transfer it out of Vado Central

Vado audio out of synch with video when I transfer it out of Vado Centralk I have a very important video I took that runs fine in Vado Central. However, when I try transferring it anywhere else (Facebook, Photobucket, iMovie) the audio speeds up and makes my son sound like a chipmunk.
My computer is a MacBook OS 0.5.8, 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 processor, 2GB memory, which should meet the system requirements.
I've been going back and forth with customer-no-service and their last suggestion was that there's nothing wrong with the camera or Vado Central and that Facebook, Photobucket and iMovie must all be independently having the exact same problem
I'm very frustrated and unhappy. This camera is only 2 months old, but it's too late for me to return it and right now it's worthless to me. Worst of all, my very important video is ruined. Anybody have any suggestions

Yes, it sounds the same (too fast) no matter what computer we try it from. I've tried burning a DVD every way I can think of and when we try to play it on our DVD player we still have chipmunk audio.
I am BEYOND frustrated with Vado's customer-no-service. They keep insisting that since it will play in Vado Central I don't have a problem. I bought this camera so that I could share video with my family that's across the country. What am I supposed to do now, mail them the camera?! It's absurd!

  • No More Chipmunks?

    Theodore..? Simon..? Alvin..? Alvin? ALVIN!
I just discovered one more new and great enhancement to GarageBand 08. I inadvertently imported a 22khz AIFF file. As HangTime was quick to answer, this used to lead to chipmunk audio. Not any more! GarageBand 08 automatically converted it to 44.1khz. Every day, GarageBand 08 looks better and better.

did you use MIDI/software instruments or live audio? I had forgotten the style of your work.
I'm so glad it sounded real. I am working toward educating myself in reproductive realism including convolution reverb and better sampling.
My style of composing is much like that of P.D.Q. Bach. +The only original places in my music are those places where I forgot what I was stealing.+ Basically, since I cannot play keyboard that well, I scour the Internet for a piece that I like, then import the MIDI file into GarageBand and assign Garritan instruments. From there, it is a matter of tweaking to get it to sound real. Thanks to GarageBand 4, I can now adjust the tempo to change the flow--thanks Apple!!
So to answer your question, there is zero audio files used. They are all Software Instruments via Garritan products.

  • Ipod Classic & AV Composite Cable

I've had a Belkin AV Composite cable hooked to my ipod 5th generation for about two months now. It worked fine for what I use it for, couple podcasts here and there in the bedroom. Now, I only get audio and no video. The cable is like brand new - only unhooked it to test on other TVs and the same thing. I have a cheapo composite cord and tested it and got both audio and video, but when I changed to a different video, I lost the video again. That cheap cord never worked except for the time I tested to see whether it was my ipod, TV or Belkin cable - go figure. I'm trying to see if it's my ipod or the cable. I'm assuming it's the video cord on the cable itself. Is it because it's not an exclusive apple cable? I bought it at best buy and it's over 60 days to return so I was going to just go ahead and get the apple brand, but I don't want to be stuck w/ two composite cables that won't work.
I've updated the software on the ipod to the current, just the other day. Could that be it? Any troubleshooting advice would be greatly appreciated. It was so convenient when it did work and the picture on the TV was surprisingly good! Thanks!

If you have audio from classic earphones, than the connectors in Your iPod jack are still alive. But if you can hear on only one earbud/earphone or non, connector inside jack is broken ( replacing it will fix problem ).
It does not matter which composite cable it is ( make and model ), if it was working smoothly before this, i guess that problem is in cable itself ( probably near some part where it is divided to audio and video connector, those spots are usually easy to damage )
If You can, try that cable on smb else's iPod.

  • Workaround for some W510 Audio Problems. Lenovo, please take a look at this!

    Hi all
I believe most or all of the people are affected with poor sound quality of W510. I do believe there are some people who bring their laptops along and not convenient to get a external sound card and external speakers on the road. I am not too sure, but what I think that causes audio problem in W510, T410 or T510 is due to the implementations of Combo Audio/Mic Jack. So far, I have not heard any audio problems from X201 or W701/W701ds with a separate mic and audio jack (1 green and red, instead of 1 combo) Listed machines are using Conexant 20585 SmartAudio HD Sound Card.
The workaround is to force install Conexant 20561 SmartAudio HD Driver through Device Manager
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-73721
    Problem Partially Resolved
    1. Using Audio Director - Classic mode enables you to use both internal speakers and external speakers/headphone simultaneously. (By right, this should be in Multi-Stream mode, due to this driver not programmed for W510). However, the volume of the internal speaker will be reduced by half if an external speakers/headphone is plugged.
    2. The sound quality is improved (tested with internal speakers).
    3. Solved Irregular Volume Problems.
    Drawback of using this driver
    1. Using Multi-Stream mode in this case would not enables you to use both internal speakers and external speakers/headphone simultaneously. However it would just make your internal speaker to be louder. External speaker/headphone would not work if Multi-Stream mode is selected.
    2. Custom EQ is not usable, if used, only the right channel of internal speaker, external speaker/headphone would work, and the sound quality will be like a spoilt radio.
    3. Only Voice (VoIP) EQ is optimized for external speaker/headphone. Using Off, Jazz, Dance or Concert EQ would make you feel that the vocal (singer's voice) is diffused, blurred like excessive 3D effects.
    4. Even if any preloaded EQ is selected, after system has been restarted, the selected EQ would still be saved, but the band (31Hz - 16KHz would be changed back to Off EQ) It is ok as it just affects the graphics, not the sound.
I know that Forum Administrators, Lenovo Staff, Community Moderators, Gurus and Volunteered Moderators/Users would be surfing around and looking for new post. Please take a look and leave a post or PM to me, thank you very much.
It is alright if Lenovo don't think that there is any problems regarding the sound in W510. However, I do believe most users/owners of W510 would appreciate if the sound system could be further improved through a better driver or new revision of hardware to something like a T400 standards or something. Some users would spent so much $ just to get all-in-a-box solution and would not want to invest further just for a external card to sacrifice portability and use more $. Finally, I still do believe that W510 audio problems can be resolved.
    Best Regards

  • Posting trends and analysis

I think I've made this comment before, but I'll go ahead and make it again.
I certainly hope some of the tech support and usability people at Apple are doing some analyses of the posts in this forum. I'm not asking them to read the posts . They just need to do some trending and counting. For example, in the group I like to troll, "Mac OS X Technologies", there are 50 posts listed on the overview page. 28 of those posts are in the iSync category. Therefore, iSync causes more problems than Audio, AppleScript, Classic, Networking and the Web, Unix, and Software Development combined.
    Just an observation...
I'll go back to arguing about cloning and backup options now until someone posts something interesting in Developer.

    etresoft,
A statistician once said: if you can't see a simple relation, statistics won't help. Your comment seems a resonable way to draw Apple's attention to serious problems.
I can't speculate about Apple policy, but I'm not surprised that iSync problems dominate. Cloning can be a problem, restoring a backed-up file tragic, but syncing multiple computers can be a disaster. My advice to family has been to stay away from 'iSync'. This, I admit, was based upon the early releases. It may be safer now.
In the early 1980s I wrote a 'sync' program for a law firm and saw the problems. I ultimately decided to delete no files, but simply mark them as 'Retired on 'date' (requiring attention). Like backup strategies & restores, the synchronization of computers requires a very careful study before implementing.
So, I have to agree with both the general suggestion in your original post; and your conclusion about the particular example you chose.
    Bruce

  • Okay, better explained here. If anybody can solve this you would be amazing, please.

gopro hero 3 black + premiere pro cs6...
    I shoot at 720p 120fps.
Premiere doesn't want to read that as 120fps, it wants to read it at 60.
Video is slow while the audio remains okay but cuts off far too early.
I can go into modify the clip to make it read as 120fps but then my audio is super fast.
Tried unlinking audio and video beforehand but it still applies when the clip is dropped to the timeline.
I used cineform to convert my files but it ends up turning 300mb into 1.5gb...
I think I may need to figure a h.264 codec within premiere because that is what gopro writes with I think?
How can I fix this issue this is getting to be obnoxious...

  • My iPod Classic is emitting a low whining noise and I can no longer access songs or audio books. Should I restore factory settings?

When I turn my iPod Classic on I hear a low whining noise coming from it.If I follow through the menus to a song or an audio book it shows the item for a few seconds then reverts to the previous menu and the whining noise is audible again. I have tried the "5 Rs" without success. Should I try restoring the factory settings - or is there something else I can do? I would be grateful for any advice!

I have the same problem with my ipod 4th gen 32gb! My music is all in the library but I cannot get it to go onto my ipod!! Ever since the latest iOS 6.1.3 update! I have restored my ipod, backed it up, done absolutely everything!! Nothing works! Please help!

  • IPod Classic 160GB audio still there even at zero volume

    Hi there,
Unfortunately I haven't found any topic here that's dealing with my problem on the first gen 160GB iPod Classic. Yesterday I realized that there's something wrong with its volume control. Even when I shift down the volume to zero there's still audio hearable (no matter if it's an audiobook, music, a podcast or a video clip) there at a fairly decent volume level (not nearly close to the sound level of whispering, by far louder).
First I tried to do a Hardware Reset on the iPod but this didn't help me a bit - the problem is still there.
So, I put all my hopes in that forum - actually I prefer listening to my audio books on a really low volume but that's not really possible right now...
    Greetings from Austria,
    Stefan

Same here! Please Apple, fix this issue in the next update! This should be no problem I think!

  • Why did my 5G Classic stop putting out audio to peripheral ipod connectors?

My 5th Gen 80Gb iPod Classic was working superbly until this past April.  I used it in a Sony iPod Dock and my new Tundra using the USB connection religiously for the past two years.  It worked fine without any issues until one day in mid-song, the sound went out while playing in the Sony.  The iPod was still playing, but no sound was being output to the Sony dock.  (This did happen on a beach in 80 direct degree sunlight onto the Sony unit, but the dock is covered by a door and little sunlight would get to the iPod).  I then returned it to my Tundra audio via USB and it did not wake up automatically and get recognized by the audio system as it did before.  I had to press the wheel button to get the Tundra's audio system to recognize it, but then it played (and still plays) fine thru USB.  I since purchased an iOn Block Rocker, with an iPod dock that I have tested with an iPhone, and it works perfectly.  I plugged my iPod Classic into the same jack and it will not output any sound to the iOn either., not even thru the RCA jack via the earphone connection.  I tested the RCA with my Infuse 4G Phone and IT worked perfectly as well.  I think there may have been some event with the accessory interface pin(s) on the iPod (if such a thing exists) or maybe one of the chips that processes the accessory signals got hosed
Anybody here have an idea what causes this behavior and how to fix it.  I have reset my iPOD to factory defaults a few times and have updated it to the latest software version thru iTunes.  Any knowledge or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

If the reset does not work try the remaining items of:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

hi, my 120gb ipod classic is not showing up in itunes, and everything is gone.
how do i format it on microsoft ' format portable audio player ' ?
the device has just installed necessary drivers to microsoft upon plugging in
like a say though, not showing up in itunes still
before it recently had this failure, it had shown up as corrupted and that it needed restoring (but i was holding off, as i manually managed all music and was hoping for a way to back it all up, to no avail)
first time posting here, would appreciate a quick answer because tempted to just click the 'restore device defaults' option
    Many thanks

  • 160 Gb Classic - Audio dropouts, gaps on gapless albums with apple lossless

    Dear All,
Since getting my new iPod Classic 160 Gb iPod Classic, I am experiencing audio dropouts that last between one and two seconds. They aren't frequent, occurring maybe one every hour or two of audio playback. They appear to be very random. If I play back the same track after having a dropout, it plays fine and doesn't happen again in the same place. This doesn't appear to be connected to my moving or shaking the iPod around, as it will happen when I am sitting down and perfectly stationary. Also, I don't think it is related to a bad earphone connection, as I a have played the iPod with several pairs of new and/or high quality earphones. More info: Most of my files are Apple Lossless and content is primarily regular music albums. Of note, this is the second 160 Gb iPod I've had with the same problems! The first one I brought down to the Apple Store in Ginza, Tokyo and they replaced it in the blink of an eye after I explained the same as above.
Prior to the 160 Gb Classic, I have owned 1st, 3rd and 5th generation iPods (plus a 2nd gen. Nano and shuffle). The 5th gen. 60 Gb was playing the exact same audio files and never had any dropouts.
I have reset the Classic and reinstalled all my music files (with the most recent ipod software 1.0.2 and running iTunes 7.5) twice now, but the problem remains. I am now thinking of taking one of two possible routes of action. a) go back down to the Apple Store and try to get another iPod replacement (and hope and pray that it doesn't experience this problem) or, b) change all my music files to something like 192 kbps and hope (and pray!) the iPod can handle the smaller file size without the dropouts. At the moment, I am leaning towards going down to the Apple Store as it would actually be the less time consuming of the two for me.
What do you wise people out there think? Exchange iPod or downsize my audio files? Or, does anyone have another suggestion or recommendation on how to resolve this issue? Thanks for any assistance.
To add to this, I have also noticed that several of my gapless albums (DJ mix CD's like those by Global Underground), no longer play consistently "gapless". Sometimes it will pass smoothly between tracks and other times there will be a small pause/gap. No doubt, I have checked the gapless album box and selected yes, in the album get info section for all of these albums, but still problems remain. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Again, my previous iPod, 5th gen. 60 Gb had none of these problems with the same files. I am really happy with the 160 Gb capacity of my new classic but feel a bit let down with these problems I'm having.
    Regards,
    Peter B.

Thank heaven! I thought I might be the only one.
My situation almost exactly mirrors your own. My first 160GB classic suffered from sudden dropouts, apparently random and almost impossible to replicate in any predictable fashion. For example, I'd start playing an album and would hear a one or two second dropout in the second track, but in attempting to replicate the situation exactly (as in, powering down the iPod, powering it back up and starting over from the first track of the album) I'd find that the fault didn't recur. Restoring and reloading made no difference at all.
So I took it in to the Apple Store and had it replaced, loaded the replacement up with music and was dismayed to discover myself facing the same problem. I too have had several iPods which were loaded off this same library, and none of them ever gave trouble in this fashion.
I think the issue might just be the size of the files in our libraries. The bulk of my files are at 320kbps, and you mentioned yours were mostly Lossless - could it be that the classic has problems dealing with large files? It's a very frustrating issue, since the audio quality of my classic is so much better to my ears than that of my previous iPod 5G.
I recommend that you take the iPod in and take them to task about it. That's certainly what I'm going to do - I really don't want to re-encode all my music, especially considering that I bought this iPod due to the burgeoning size of my library, and re-encoding would defeat the point. Plus, since it has better sound it sort of deserves to be loaded with larger files. I just hope this isn't an irremediable issue, which I'm starting to suspect it might be, since your iPods were obtained in Japan and mine in the UK. I'll continue posting as this unfolds, and I hope you'll do the same.
