Chipset drivers are a disorganized mess.

I took the time to leave you honest feedback for your MSI FM2-A55M-E33 chipset driver download. If this is the best that MSI can do then I will not be purchasing another MSI product.

It looked simple and straight forward to me.

  • Catalyst CCC and Chipset Drivers Collision

    Hello All,
My CCC (catalyst control centre) wont load and I think its the chipset drivers and i cannot find the chipset drivers (amd 970 chipset and SB950).
The sequence of events unfolded as follows....
    1) I downloaded ati chipset drivers (http://eu.msi.com/service/download/driver-2592.html) and installed them...
*This is the cause of everything?
*Because the drivers are NOT not 900 series chipset or mainboard?
As a consequence of this it kicked the Realtek LAN drivers out...
(something to do with hdmi audio drivers for the hdmi on the graphic card)
    2) I reinstalled the realtek drivers
*As a consequence of this it kicked the catalyst ccc drivers out
    3) I have tried 12 gazillion times to re-install the catalyst drivers and all attempts fail
I have removed the graphic drivers and reinstalled them again but the driver fails to install
I have tried the amd detection utility and that fails
I have tried the sapphire website ccc utility (12.2 and 12.1 and 11.2) and that fails
The reason for this I suspect is....
Because the chipset drivers are screwed up?
    My system is :
    mainboard-
    MSI 970A-G45
    graphic card-
    ATI Radeon Sapphire HD6450 1Gb DDR3 (1xvga, 1xhdmi, 1xdvi)
    memory-
    Mushkin 8Gb Blackline
    processor-
    AMD FX4100
    bios-
    1.5
    os-
    windows vista 32bit sp2
I would assume that the correct route is to use an uninstall.inf to remove the chipset drivers?
    if so...
where do i get the uninstall.inf?
    if not...
where do i get the ORIGINAL or GENERIC AMD Chipset drivers for the 970a and sb950 chipset?
I dont want to re-install windows,
nor do i want to roll the system back.
    Help anyone please?

For some reason you link directed to 'Europe' MSI website? Unless you are in Europe.. visiting the USA North America site.. the link Wonkanoby listed is the US MSI download page for your board.
You didn't list the model number to your Mushkin memory.. are they compatible? The sound you are having trouble with... through your GPU or on-board plug in? If on the VideoCard through the HDMI.. dod you go into Control Panel/Sound, and make the selection for the correct 'Default'?
    Hiya Panther57,
The Mushkin memory is BLACKLINE model 4x2gb
The graphic card is is in the first pcie slot (nearest cpu)
the audio is onboard Realtek 7.1
I have tried the AMD Autodetect and it takes about 20-30 minutes to install the ctalyst control centre which has FAILED on the last 12 or attempts,
I've benn having this problem for about thelast 10 days and try to address it towards the middle of the day most days by downlloading one or another driver....
I tried to reinstall from the cd but it fails and inside the CCC install package some options (the ones which matter in this case) are not selectable they are already checked and read as follows...
Your xxxxxxxxxxxx driver files re update/latest version and do not need updating.
Which I assume means it wont install those files.
    Just a thought...
Wonder if its worth writing to the CCC team directly?
Thanks for any and all help.

  • 990fxa gd65+win8.1 are the latest AMD chipset drivers needed?

990fxa gd65+win8.1 are the latest AMD chipset drivers needed? any benefit?
    http://support.amd.com/it-it/download/chipset?os=Windows+8.1+-+64
    Thanks

it just depends if you have problems you have with your chipset!
if the answer is its working perfectly well and all the ports speeds are normal leave it alone and use your current ones!
if the answer is you are having issues with your USB ports or something else then update them!
(Newer drivers can sometimes induce problems with your system and it just depends if you have problems or not if its a good idea to update)

  • Chipset Drivers updates

I have been having a "sleep mode" problem with my notebook recently in that, if I select 'sleep' the notebook screen goes black, the fan keeps running and won't wake up with the keyboard or mouse. I then have to switch off and then switch on and the notebook opens in 'Windows Error Recovery'.
It has been suggested that i should update the chipset drivers as a possible solution.
Are there risks in doing this?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi:
According to AMD's website, this would be the latest chipset driver for the chipset your model has.
    http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/chipset?os=Windows%207%20-%2064
You may also want to run the auto detect software and see if amd pulls a different driver and try that one first.
    http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
Risks attendant to installing it would be that driver won't install, or if it does the operating system won't start on reboot.
Can't tell you what the odds of something bad happening would be.  I would say not very high.  But if your luck is like mine, then...
Another issue could be the graphics driver.  You may want to consider reinstalling that in case some display driver files have gotten messed up over time.

  • Some BootCamp drivers are not installing...!?

    Hello everyone.
I've recently installed Bootcamp and WinXP Pro x32 on my new MacBook Unibody.
I got a very unpleaseant surprise...
The drivers for the wifi, ethernet, bluetooth, processor aid, chipset and isight are simply NOT installing. I'm getting the "new hardware found" notification every time I boot up, and when I try to upgrade the drivers of these "unknown devices" @ the Device Manager control panel, no adequate drivers are found. I've re-installed the bootcamp drivers that came with my MB like 10 times, with NO luck.
    HELP!

    I'm having a similar issue...
I don't have access to the Leopard CD, and I'm not paying Apple 12 bucks to ship me the CD I already own just because I left it in my dorm over interterm, but that's neither here nor there. The point is I installed XP, downloaded the drivers and installed them. The only appreciable difference after installing the drives from the installer I downloaded is that there is now the boot camp task bar icon. None of the other drivers got installed, though the installer listed them all and went smoothly.
If it helps any, this is a re-install. I wiped the windows partition clean in Disk Utility and re-installed from the same CD I used before. The only difference is this time I don't have the Leopard DVD to install the drivers from.
    Any help?

  • How to find which drivers are missing?

My laptop model no is Hp Pavillion dv6 1337tx. Someday ago I installed Windows 7 32 bit OS and also installed all drivers from the HP site. Still in the device manager I can see som drivers are missing. What can those be and how can I identify those missing drivers and solve this problem?

Determining what the devices are is a one at a time process. On each unknown device or device without drivers, right click on the device and select properties. In the properties window select the Details tab and  hardware ids in the property  dropdown. Post the PCI\VEN string as seen in the following image for each device here in your post.  Once that is done we can let you know what the device is.
This is where the drivers for your notebook are located.  Do you know  which chipset is installed?
    Best regards,
    erico

  • Has Live Update EVER worked? Trying to download "AMD Chipset Drivers" 970A-G46

I just installed W8 clean, added 8.1, all the updates, and installed Live Update fresh to see if i actually works this time around.
I see that apparently it still is a piece of crap software.
Never have I found this program to take less than several hours / entire day to download something that I allegedly need. It will tell me my BIOS is up to date yet when I go to the MB page and compare the version from BIOS and Live Update, there IS a newer version there (heck it is up to 2.6 and I had a v 1.0B using Windows 7). Even after flashing with USB to 2.6, LU5 is still showing my BIOS version as 1.B0.
I just wound up manually downloading the internet, realtek audio, and usb drivers then installing them myself.
The only file that is missing from the MB page is what Live Update is telling me as "Not Installed": MB Driver /AMD Chipset Drivers/(current version) Not Installed/(online version) 13.101.0.0
I have been waiting at least 30 minutes downloading this file through LU5 which is only at 27%.
Is this even needed? Is the MB page THE DEFINITIVE page for downloads and should I just uninstall LU?

Well, it is an AMD based board, not Intel. Shouldn't the board manufacturer supply the drivers for their own board?
p.s....after letting the one file download for over an hour, there is a corrupt file in it /rolls eyes...I also can't find drivers for an ATI based MB on the AMD website. The only selections for drivers are for graphics cards.
So you didn't get a disk with your motherboard?
Yes, MSI will provide drivers for your motherboard off of their website, or with the disk that came with your motherboard. You had mentioned the newest drivers...the newest drivers will always come from the chip manufacture...ie AMD, Intel, Nvidia, etc.
AMD no longer has a specified chipset driver to the best of my knowledge. They have Catalyst...it pretty much takes care of everything.

  • Satellite L850 - Win8.1 won't let me install the chipset drivers

    Hi,
After i upgraded to windows 8.1 pro 64 bit from windows 8 64 bit (pre-installed), i figured that windows won't let me install the chipset drivers (downloaded from "toshiba site" for windows 8.1 pro 64 bit), but they remain with the windows drivers installed for them.
The device manager shows everything installed and properly using. Also, when the set up was running to install the chipset driver, it skipped most of them, to install only a missing driver (sadly haven't kept any screen to show). I tried to install using the device manager (either auto search or manually browsing in the pc the downloaded files from site), but it keeps saying that drivers are up to date (having drivers with version of 2006, when the latest on site are 2014). Any suggestion of what to do?
    Model name: Satellite L850-1MK
OS version: Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro 6.3.9600
    CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3630QM cpu @ 2.4GHz
    GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7600M

Problem solved, after even a deeper google search, i found that if y make a shortcut and add to it a command (-OVERALL), it forcefully installs all components.

hi am using compaq presario c700 audio drivers are there in laptop but am not able to get sound from laptop could you please advise

I noticed this is your first post, a comprehensive post just for asking XP drivers.
Please read XP downgrade guide, part 2, here
Your model, somehow forgot to be listed in part 2, but in general, part 2 should work for your model.
Read the guide so that you knew the advantages/disadvantages installing XP for your model.
About your request, try the following drivers
1.For Intel 965 Express Chipset Family, Here
    2.Conexant High-Definition SmartAudio 221 Driver
    Driver modded by silver here
Unzip to a folder..use Device Manager, right click "Audio Device on HD",choose Update driver,
    No to connect,
Install from a list or specific location,
Select Don't Search, I will choose the driver to install,
For the Hardware Type select 'Show All Devices'
Remove the check from "Show Compatible Hardware" and click on "Have Disk".
Next...browse to the unzipped folder and choose the "WiSVHe5.inf".
    Ignore XP when it complains.
    Reboot.
Please post again If you found the mic and external speaker are not working perfectly.
Post it with your Hardware ID.

  • [E50] Which chipset drivers to download

    Hi,
How can I check out which chipset drivers I should download for my current Lenovo desktop, as every time, once it has been started, I have to press "F2" to reset the time without any other choice? And after I've got chipset drivers, I want to also update the system BIOS of the Desktop.

  • Pavilion 15-p100dx Chipset Drivers

    Hi,
I just got the HP Pavilion 15-p100dx, i'm trying to get the chipset drivers from the support page, but i can't find them, the only option is order the recovery Dvds.
Can you give me the link to download this drivers from the support site.
    Thanks and regards

    Hi:
HP is aware of the drivers missing from the support pages issue and is working on resolving it.
It is affecting hundreds of notebook models.
Since I don't work for HP, I do not know when the sites will be operational again.
This has happened once before, so hopefully they learned from past experience how to troubleshoot the problem.
With the Thanksgiving holiday in the United States, that has delayed things, I'm sure.
We are on the fourth day of this problem.
The chipset driver directly from Intel should work for you...

  • What Win 7 drivers are required for Satellite L750

    Excuse me...
I'm a new Toshiba L750 owner. I can see this (huge) drivers' list, but here there ara ALL TOSHIBA's utilities aswell.
I believe, the fellow asked (as I am), which are the NECCESSARY drivers for a good/working new W7x64 instalation. Personally, I don't want ANY of the Toshiba's utilities. All I want is a "fresh" W7x64 instalation and my laptop running fine. That's all...
So, I don't think we need no more than 10-14 drivers, to set-up fine our laptops.
    So, WHICH drivers are needed?

    Fellas, listen to me...
When I bought the L750-1LU last Monday, I almost was one step before... throw it out of my window!
The battery didn't last more than... 1 hr - just fooling around the system/utilities and surfing on the Net, nothing extreme - and my boot time was OVER... 30-40 sec (without installing ANYTHING! I had only the official MSW7 and Toshiba's applications)...
Before... throw it out of my window, I chose to collect all the neccessary drivers from the Net and FORMAT the damn thing, re-install a "fresh" MSW7 and "play" with the power settings...
I did it... the laptop now runs like a charm for OVER 3 hrs, the boot time is about... 10 sec and I don't remember when I needed any Toshiba application and I don't have it installed any more!
I don't need an ECO app, I don't want any "Face ID recognize", or any pop-up message from the MILLIONS I had in few minutes, before I formated the laptop.
The following drivers, are those I chose to install. Please, reply me if I'm good:
    * Atheros LAN-ETHERNET Driver v1.0.0.46_W7x64_TC70095400D
    * Atheros Wireless LAN Driver v9.2.0.206.0.s3264_W7x65_wCAT_TC00346200E

    * Synaptics Touchpad Drivers v15.2.11.1_W7x64_TC70097100F
    * TOSHIBA Bluetooth Stack_W7x64_TC00354000J (the system saying is fine, but I notised a "yellow triangle" in "My computer" Devices list. I'm keep trying to update or fix but all messages saying "it's fine")
    * TOSHIBA Realtek Card Reader v.1.0.0.12_W7x64_TC70098500J
    * TOSHIBA Web Camera v1.1.6.3_W7x64_TC30271000C
    * USB3.0 Driver v2.0.32.0_W7x64_TC70102900D
So far, I think the laptop "rocks"... All I need from you is to tell me, if I need any other drivers and if I'll be fine with the 3D GRAPHICS & DOBLY ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY of the laptop (if not, which apps I need to install too)?
    Thxs.
