Choose iPhoto Library for iTunes to sync

I have a shared iPhoto library so it can be accessed by multiple accounts on my iMac. I want to sync my photos with my iPhone, but when iTunes opens it finds an old iPhoto Library (that has been deleted) and it says there are 0 photos to sync.
I've gone under the "Choose Folder..." option, but I cannot choose my iPhoto Library from there.
How can I make iTunes see the correct iPhoto library so I can sync my photos to my phone like I want?

I have a shared iPhoto library so it can be accessed by multiple accounts on my iMac.
How is that set up?
Can other apps access iPhoto? For instance, iMovie?

  • How can I choose an iphoto library on itunes?

I need to switch to a different iphoto library on itunes to sync with my ipad, how can I do this?

Check that the drive's formatted as Mac OS Extended, drag the iPhoto library to it, launch iPhoto with the Option key held down, and choose that library.

  • How do you choose a picture from your iPhoto library for a contact in Address Book ?

    Hello,
I have contacts on my Address Book application for which I would like to set a picture from my iPhoto library.
However, when double-clicking the picture square and select Choose..., I cannot access any pictures from my library. I can't even double click the library to show package content.
I would really dislke having to drag each picture on my desktop and I believe there is a way to easily access the iPhoto library for this. I just couldn't find the solution.
    Thanks in advance,
    Julian

I did it like this: First, you should have assigned names to Faces in iPhoto - these names should match the respective ones you use in addressbook (like John Smith each time, not John Smith in iPhoto and Johnny S. in Addressbook). Then, in Addressbook, double-click the square for the photo as you did, but then do not click on Choose but rather on the small Faces icon on the bottom of the popup window. Addressbook should now provide you with all the "faces" iPhoto has for this name.

  • Mixed environment - sharing iphoto library with pc to sync to iPhone?

I have a MacBookPro and my wife has an XP desktop computer. We both have iPhone 3Gs, and I keep all of our photos in iPhoto. She's a bit jealous that I can easily sync our pictures to my phone and wants to do the same from her PC.
Is there anything that will do this. Even just to get the photos to the PC easily to then sync to the phone? If I tried to put the iPhoto library on our network would she be able to see it/access it from her XP machine?
    Help!!
    Jim

Well the righteous thing to do is get your wife a nice Mac desktop computer. Christmas is just around the corner. Otherwise the next best solution would be to let your wife peruse your iPhoto library on your computer to select and export those photos she wants to add to her iPhone. Then transfer them to her machine where she can use iTunes to sync to the phone.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Wish I could choose a folder for Itunes to keep organized.

I would like to be able to choose a folder for ITunes to keep "organized." I will never let it do it to my main library but for certain folders it would be nice to have.

    Derry hello,
The organize command places song files into album and artist folders, and names the files based on the disc number, and the song title in the folder that is shown in the display window of the iTunes preferences > advanced > general tab for Location....
This command has no effect on the way iTunes operates or plays your music files... it only tidies things up inside the iTunes Music folder if that is the folder set in pref.... it will do no harm to your music files.
    take care Derry .... TP

  • Why do i have to erase my misic pics an games just for itune to sync my ipod

why do i have to erase all my stuff off my ipod to use a different computer just for itunes to sync? an is there a way i can save everything so i dont lose it all?

This isn't a podcasting question: the best place to ask would be in the iTunes Forum for Mac or the iTunes Forum for Windows as appropriate.

  • Finding iphoto-library for import into aperture

aperture does not find my iphoto-library for import!
I have installed aperture and when I want to import my iphoto-library, the pulldown menu does not give me the option to click on "iphoto library", though it is in the pcts-Folder. It gives me all the pictures on my computer except the iphoto-library. Who can give me a clue?

Make sure the Import Pane on the Aperture Window is closed and then go File -> Import and the iPhoto Library option will be available.

  • Why does it take so long for itunes to sync my iphone? Its been on step 2 for hours

Why does it take so long for itunes to sync my iphone? Its been on step 2 for hours
I just got the iphone 4s...I have had two other iphones in the past and they did not take this long to sync. This is my first time connecting it to my computer.

8 hours later and it is reading "finishing sync" which I believe is past Step 5 and I have no idea when the "finish" will occur and am afraid to disconnect/interrupt the sync. The current version of itunes (11) is installed and syncing Microsoft Outlook (about 400 contacts, calendar, etc) for the first time.  What should I do next besides wait?

  • ITunes will not recognise my entire iPhoto library and won't sync

I've been having sync issues with iTunes and Aperture so Decided to just delete Aperture as I don't really see the advantage of it over iPhoto which I find much simpler and user friendly.
After I deleted all my photos and aperture, I went to sync my iPhone 5S to set up the sync for photos with iPhoto. Unfortunately it only recognises a small portion of my iPhoto library. There are only a few events and a few faces to choose from to sync. If I choose to syc all photos then it shows only about 15% of the total number of photos. I've gone back and opened iPhoto but I can see all my events, faces, etc.... (entire library is about 20K pics but iTunes only shows about 2.5K for syncing.
What can I do to fix?
I'm afraid something went wrong because I deleted Aperture. I check before I deleted and both iPhoto and Aperture had the same photos. I use all the latest versions of iTunes and iOS and Yosemite.

    Correct.
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

  • ITunes can't load Aperture library for iPad Air sync

I have a 120gb Aperture library stored on my NAS. Got my new iPad Air and when I go to the Photos tab in sync options, the gray wheel just keeps on spinning indefintely. I don't know if it can't load a library that big, or if there's something else going on. If I create a small Aperture library it works fine. Anyone else had this issue?
    Running 11.1.3 on Mavericks.
    Thanks!

I'm experiencing exactly the same issue with a 42GB Library. Same issue even if I create a new smaller library. When I click on the device in itunes and then photos I get the grey wheel turning for hours. I tried switching to iPhoto library and the issue seems worse.

  • Choosing an iPhoto library for the iPad?

A few months ago I changed the setting in the Photos pane and synced my iPhoto Library_2 to my iPad. I want to go back and put my iPhoto Library_1 back on my iPad but forgot how to do it.

After posting I found How to sync multiple iPhoto libraries to iPad? - MacRumors Forums so I see the problem I'm having in iTunes/Devices/iPad/Photos is not caused by an inability to choose the library. iTunes recognizes its folders but shows they're empty. Trashing the iPod Photo Cache folder didn't help.

  • IPhoto library on SAMBA wont sync through iTunes

    Hi
I have two macs at home, and I have want to keep a single iTunes and iPhoto library, therefore I utilize a SAMBA share on my Debian server. iTunes and iPhoto both works great on SAMBA however when I sync my iPhone or iPod, iPhoto albums wont show up in iTunes for selection. When I move the very same library to the local disk, it all starts to work. iPhoto otherwise sees all pictures and albums, but it wont show up in itunes.
I tried to change permissions, but to no avail.
    Any suggestions are welcome,
    Thanks

It seems that the file AlbumData.xml is still open, when iPhoto is trying to delete it.

  • TS4062 I am completely frazzled! My iPhone 4s says I'm over my GB's so now I can't even delete ANYTHING, not even my texts! also when I try to sync with Itunes it says there is not enough room in the itunes library for me to sync. What do I do now?

I REALLY need help!!! My iPhone 4s is apparently OVER the amount of GB its supposed to have so it now will not even let me delete ANYTHING! Not my texts, apps- to free up space, NOTHING! It keeps kicking me off my email, wont let me get voicemail, see who last called on my "recents",  wont let me send or receive text's or even let me change things in my settings. Now when I go to iTunes to sync, so I can try to free up space, iTunes sais there isn't enough space in its library for all my stuff so it WON'T sync either!!! I'm frozen and I have A LOT of VERY important stuff on my phone that I REALLY need! Can anyone tekk me what to do? PLEASE!!!!

First off try and go into your IPhone manually through My Computer and cut photos or anything you can through the device to be able to free space up so that you can continue to do what you want to do with ITunes. This way you will be able to create a backup or do what you have to do to manage your information, photos and texts on your device a little better.
