I construct a webpage in BlueGriffon (webpage-maker). Then I want to see the result in my webbrowser Firefox (version 17.0.1 under OS Linux Kubuntu version 12.10). A box opens, I have to choose a webbrowser.
My question: Where on my harddisk can I find the Firefox executable (So that I can choose that one)??!

If you are able to start Firefox then you should have a desktop shortcut and the properties of that shortcut should show the path to the Firefox application.<br />
If you have a Firefox version from your distribution (i.e. you didn't install Firefox from the Mozilla site) then you should also be able to see where the program is installed via your software management.

Encore CS4 does not recognize Blue Ray External Driver

I just bought a LG blue ray external drive writer which comes with Cyberlinks SW. From Premiere, I opened Encore to burn (build) a sequence on the LG Blue-Ray burner, but it does not work: - In En Project setting, the “Player” is grayed-out and only “Adobe Player” is displayed. - In En Build tab, when I choose the Format as Blue Ray and Output as Blue Ray Disk, the Build button is grayed out and Recorder shows None Found. However when I change the Format to DVD, the Build settings automatically change and the Recorder LG Blue Ray is shown. How do I make En to recognize the LG Blue Ray and burn in Blue ray format? There are many threads in the Encore forum regarding reasons that burners are not seen. Most of these problems can be traced back to specific software, and most of the rest have to do with how the hardware is set up. You can find most of these in the main forum, and the Burning DVD sub-forum, with a Search.
First thing that I'd check is that your OS sees your hardware. In Windows, Control Panel>System>Device Manager. Check here (or within your OS) to make sure that it's just not a bad installation.

How to make a 5.1 Surround Sound Blu-Ray with FCP

Being disappointed that FCP only makes Blu-Ray discs with a stereo soundtrack I decided to find a way to make one with my 5.1 soundtrack. After hacking the build process by replacing the stereo AC3 file with a 5.1 version while it was still making the video file I stumbled on a very simple method of making a 5.1 Blu-Ray.
In FCP, choose Share and select Blu-Ray. Check the box that says something like "burn Blu-Ray disc". When the project is ready to transcode and burn, hit the "Send to Compressor" button. Once in compressor, right-click on the Dolby Digital 2.0 setting and select "Edit Setting" (or "Change setting", not sure which, my FCP machine somewhere else at the moment) and browse to the 5.1 Dolby Digital setting. Select it and submit the job. When done, you'll have a 5.1 Blu-Ray disc of your project.

There is no way to create a real Dolby sound unfortunately. The mac currently only supports 2 channel outputs. There are interfaces you can buy that will separate the bass and send it to the subwoofer, and fake a 5 channel sound field, but ultimately it will only run 2 sets of stereo speakers, and one mono in the middle, so it is not true surround sound.

I wish there were a way to do it, I personally am a recording musician and an audiophile, and have looked for the same thing on several occasions. But unfortunately at the time, it seems as though there is not the hardware to do it.

First time to blue ray help please Asap

Firstly - I have been asked to export a HD project fit for blue ray and since I have had no experience working with blue ray in the past, I thought I'd ask here just to be sure.
Project is HD 1080i50 in FCP. I have been asked to provide a Apple HDV 1080i50, 1440x1080 (1888x1062) file.
Please advise me on what settings to export (ie. via compressor, and if so, what preset do I select?)
I have FCP 7
Compressor 3.5
I know it may seem stupid but want to make sure.

All that has been instructed to me is to provide is:
Apple HDV 1080i50, 1440x1080 (1888x1062)
Been also advised to export via compressor and choose h.264 for blue ray preset. Although, this takes over 24 hours to do just 25 mins on my imac so you can imagine how long it would take to do a 1 hr 20 min export (also required).
Conflicting answers given... quicktime 1080i50 export or pro res?
Clarification needed please. For example, if you were given the above file format instruction, how would u do it?

When I try to start my computer, I get a screen "Windows Error Recovery" and two choices "Launch Startup Repair (recommended)" and "Start Windows Normally". No matter which one I choose, I get a blue screen with "*** STOP:   0x000000A5 (0x0001000A, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)".  I can't go any further. Then, I turn off the computer.
I restart the computer and choose F9-Diagnotics. When this opens. I see that the memory test has failed and has an error code of "BIOME-1"  and the suggestion to "Please contact HP Support".
Prior to all of this happening, I reinstalled an antivirus program that I've been using for several years with no problems.
So here I am.
What do I do now?
I'd appreciate your help.

Best format to export to Encore for a Blu-Ray disc ?

My question is I shoot with a Canon Vixia HFR21. I am putting together a family vacation we all just had at Disney World. My computer is capable of handling everything very well.I had it built 2 years ago by ADK.I need to know once I have everything set on timeline and all is ready to export, what exact setting in Media Encoder would be best considering I will be bringing it then into Encore to burn on Blu ray disc.
I have Adobe cs6 Premiere and Encore.
Also after I make the Blu ray I will put exact same time line on regular dvd..from what I read for that I think I should export to mpeg-2 ..I'm not sure .
Also for both blue ray and dvd, which is better ipcm or dolby digital audio ?

Hi Ray,
From Premiere, export via AME and choose the "H.264 Blu-ray" format, and then for preset, get what best matches your footage, for instance maybe 1080i 29.97
You will need to choose a bitrate in line with the length of the program so that you don't exceed the disc capacity. Just search the web for "bitrate calculator" and plug in your details. No need to be in the 30-40 range, something like 25 using H.264 will look fantastic. I believe at "20" you can fit well over 2 hours on a Blu-ray disc. Dolby audio is the default.
For DVD, again Export via AME but choose "MPEG-2 DVD" and proper preset like "NTSC Widescreen", and set bit rate. Don't exceed 7 or 8 on that, and you can use 560/minutes=rate as a rule of thumb and round down slightly. For instance 560/120=4.66 so I encode at 4.5, again using default Dolby Audio.
I'm not keen on sharing the same Encore project for the Blu-ray and DVD, but that's up to you. Note that you can add DVD chapter marks in your Premiere timeline and when you export, those go with. In Encore, use "Import As > Timeline" and grab the audio and video clip at the same time and the chapter marks come along for the ride!

Need help making ball move and bounce off of sides of JPanel

I'm currently working on a program that creates a ball of random color. I'm trying to make the ball move around the JPanel it is contained in and if it hits a wall it should bounce off of it. I have been able to draw the ball and make it fill with a random color. However, I cannot get it to move around and bounce off the walls. Below is the code for the class that creates the ball. Should I possible be using multithreads? As part of the project requirements I will need to utilizes threads and include a runnable. However, I wanted to get it working with one first and than add to it as the final product needs to include new balls being added with each mouse click. Any help would be appreciated.

Create a bounding box using the size of the panel. Each time you move the ball, check that it's still inside the box. If it isn't, then change it's direction. You know where the ball is, (x, y), so just compare those values to the boundary values.

Text caption "call outs" not measured same way

When creating call out text captions I like them to be the same size when possible - regardless if the call out is pointing up (left or right) or down (left or right).
Having created and sized a call out pointing down left - I then create a new call out pointing up left.
In order to resize the new call out I click the down left call out first, then the new call out and then click the "Resize to the same size" icon on the Align Toolbar and the result is as follows:
Whilst the Properties of both call outs are, according to Captivate the same (W112 H73), the two call outs are in fact different sizes - (1) is not as high as (2).
Seems the height of (1) includes some blank space at the top - highlighted in yellow.
Is this a settings issue I can change or what ?

I discovered a big difference in the captions BMP's: blank space is different at top/bottom between the two callouts you showed. Look at the screenshot (from PS): the left caption has a space of 11px at the top and 3px at the bottom, the right one has 2 px at top and one at the bottom. It seems not to be possible to modify the present default Adobe captions, which I tried but the old ones always show up. Did you change your Preferences a lot? Perhaps deleting the Preferences folder will allow to adapt those captions, but I'm hesitant because I have been changing a lot of Preferences.
Possible is certainly to create your own custom text captions (you'll need all 5) as described in the Help. In that case you can even choose the exact corporate blue color for the stroke of the caption.

Why do i have duplicate calendars?

I noticed this morning that I have duplicate calendars showing duplicate events on all of my devices: iMac 2011, MacBook Pro Retina 2014, iPad Air and iPhone 4S. All with latest system updates. Only the calendar for my school events (which I use most actively) shows as duplicated, others remain normal. I followed the instructions on Apple's troubleshooting page: I checked that all relevant services were shown green on their system status page. Then I went to iCloud.com and checked whether on not the calendars and/or events were shown twice there as well. I saw two calendars for my school events by the same name, one with purple color that I remember choosing, and another with blue color that I think is the default color for new calendars, and that which I had not chosen. But check this: The events on iCloud calendars were NOT duplicated, but randomly shared by these two calendars. Meaning some of my school events were purple, some were blue. I have always used only one calendar for my school, the purple one.
Let me recap:
On all my devices: Two school calendars with duplicated events, purple and blue.
On iCloud: Two calendars, purple and blue, but no overlapping school events! Both purple and blue events with no apparent logic afaict.
Now the next step on Apple's page was to contact the telephone support. I submitted a contact request, and after a short while an american lady called me and we started trying to sort things out. I tried my best to explain to her my situation, but perhaps because things were quite complicated, and English not being my native language she might not had understood everything. She asked me if I had tried to delete one of the duplicates. No I had not, because even though on my devices the events were shown twice, on iCloud they WEREN'T, and I didn't want to take the risk of losing anything. I think it was at the moment I was explaining this to her when the line dropped, and she never called back.
Having given up on tech support I decided to try fix this on my on and went back to iCloud. I thought if I change all blue events to purple and then delete the blue calendar, I might not lose any events. So I double-click on a blue event, change the calendar back to the original purple and hit ok. I get an error saying "Couldn't save changes to [event's name]. Your changes to this event couldn't be saved because of a server error. Please try again." I report and hit ok. The event is still blue. I double-click it and try to change the event's calendar again. This time I get an error "Couldn't save changes to [event's name]. Your changes to this event couldn't be saved because it was just deleted by another device." I hit ok, and NOW I see two of the same event, one in blue and one in purple. Well at least the event is now supposedly where it should be. I repeat this annoying procedure to all blue events. Then I try to delete the wicked blue calendar, praying I won't lose anything important. Of course I get an error: "Couldn't save changes to [calendar's name]. Your changes to this calendar couldn't be saved because it was just updated by another device." So I go and try again, it worked for the events. And this time the calendar is gone!
But wait. The events of the purple calendar are now duplicated. So I only got rid of the calendar clone, but I still have events shown twice.
I'm getting way too tired to work on this any futher. Why is iCloud acting like this?

Highlight a song. Press command+r to reveal the song in Finder. Do that for the duplicate. Are they in the same location? You can also check this by getting info on a file and checking its location in the summary info, then check for the other file.
If you have a file in a folder that itunes doesn't control and then add the file to itunes it will place a cpy in the itunes folder when you add the file, leaving the original. Not sure how you ended up with two in itunes but I'd need to know the details of your preference settings.
I don't know about the rest. I have never bought music from ITMS.

IMac won't boot from internal drive (Disk Ult can't see drive)

Yesterday morning my iMac (early 2006) froze while watching a movie. I figured it was because I was running so many things in the background (Safari, iTunes, iPhoto, Mail, iCal and Preview). So I restarted the unit by holding down the power button cause it wouldn't responded to any keyboard prompts, tho it did allow me to use the mouse. So I restarted and got a grey screen showing a folder and a question mark. i unplugged the system for a few minutes and started her up again. This time it showed the gray apple but it had a progress bar on the bottom like it was loading something. The system started and took me to the login screen. Just to be safe i restarted it from the login screen. the system booted up fine and i finished watching my movie. I came back from the gym like 2 hrs later and tried to wake my mac from sleep mode and got the usual prompt to enter my password to unlock the screen. As i started to enter my password the screen froze again. This time tho i was unable to restart the unit. i kept getting that grey screen with the folder and question mark. So iI popped in my 10.6 install disk to see if I could repair the HDD. But no matter how many times i try the system does not pick up my internal drive. I'm not really sure what the problem is. I thought it might be hardware failure, but I didn't have this problem until after the latest software update. And the drive never gave me any indication of problems before yesterday. All i can think is that the system update or safari update corrupted something or is not playing nice with something already on the system. But i guess that wouldn't explain the drive not being seen. Can anybody offer and ideas of a solution? I really just wanna get it up so I can salvage my iTunes folder and transfer it to my Macbook.

Sure sounds like the HD is worn out, damaged, failing or failed and needs to be replaced.
Take it to your local Authorized Apple Service Provider and have them put a new WD Caviar Blue or Seagate Barracuda 3.5 SATA HD in it. > http://www.apple.com/buy/locator/service/
Given the choice I would choose a WD Caviar Blue, they seem to run a little cooler and quieter than the WD Blacks and most Seagate's. http://www.wdc.com/en/products/index.asp?cat=3
As for your iTunes Library that depends, some times just before an HD totally fails it is possible to copy the data off of it. Unfortunately most of the time when it's gone it's gone for good and needs to be sent out to a professional data recovery service, you do have a Time Machine backup on an External HD right?

If you use the wrench icon and choose document setup, a blue background screen opens that allows you to change margins, at the bottom is a change paper size button, but it only seems to allow between A4 and US letter. Not orientation or other custom sizes.

IMac G5 freezes or locks up in Screen Save Mode

After about 5 minutes in the screen saver mode my iMac G5 locks up and will not go to the password menu. The fans turn on the only way to get out of this is to power down. I have tried to force quit but the keyboard locks out too. I am running the Apple screen saver the beach scene one. The only thing I have changed is when the screen saver comes on. I have 95 gigs open on my hard drive too.

Hopefully all that you need is to perform disk repair (not permissions) using the Disk Utility version located on your grey-label Install Disc 1, once you have booted from that disc.
Insert the disc into your optical drive and immediately choose "Restart" from your blue apple menu. Upon hearing the startup chord, immediately press and hold the "c" key until you see the progress indicator. First install screen is language selection, second install screen at the top of the display you see pull-downs, one of which is Utilities. Select Disk Utility, from the drives listed on the left, choose the entire internal hard drive which should be the first listed. On the right verify you're on First Aid panel, then click "Repair Disk" button and allow to run until completion. Re-run if necessary until it reports "No repairs necessary"
Quit Disk Utility, Quit installation sequence, restart to usual startup disk.
Please note that your HDD is now over 80 percent full, and many believe that beyond that point you might start to see the iMac's operating efficiency steadily deteriorate. [click the iMac G5 link, search "swap space" or "defrag"] You might want to consider adding an external firewire/usb hard drive for additional storage, but certainly get something for backing up. There is probably a little on your current HDD that you would rather not lose:) This is the time to protect yourself.

Dull washed-out colors

I recently reset my computer to factory settings from a virus i had, and before i reset it i had the same issue: the color i choose in the color picker of photoshop is NOT what the brush paints. I choose a saturated, vibrant blue, and it comes out really dull and washed-out. I've been searching through various google links for about an hour, and i cannot find a working solution. I am using Photoshop CC (64 bit) and an AOC e2343Fk monitor. If anyone has a solution for my issue i'd love to hear it.

OMG.
This is a CMYK file and your blue is out of gamut. It can't be reproduced in that CMYK color space. That's all there is to it.
Click the warning triangle in the color picker to change the color to one that is in gamut. This is the real solution to your problem, which isn't a problem at all, just a simple fact of life.
Proofing to Monitor RGB doesn't "solve" anything.

I've taken the dive and decided to have some fun with this old g3 beige I purchased for cheap online.
I've got the outrigger desktop style g3, and I'm wondering what the best upgrades to the memory, CPU, hard drive, and graphics can be? Also, should I put OS9 on it? (no OS on it right now)
I've built PCs for years now, but I've never moved hardware around in a mac. Is there any distinct differences I should know going in?

This article has links for info on setting up file/internet sharing over a LAN. I used Internet Explorer 5.1.7 (final pre-OS X release in 2001) for years, but about 1-2 years ago, I started getting compatibility messages related to upgrading my browser. Netscape Communicator was another option, but was a memory hog. Mozilla also had a pre-OS X browser. Some forum regulars recommend iCab for older Macs.
You'd only need an ATA-133 controller card, if you wanted to have full capacity recognition of a 160 GB hard drive (or larger). The beige G3's onboard IDE controller can fully recognize a 120 GB drive or smaller. You can add a standard 3.5" IDE/E-IDE, Parallel ATA (not Serial ATA or SATA) hard drive, the same type as used in PCs. If you found a 10 GB or 20 GB hard drive, it would probably be a used pull, as that small capacity isn't manufactured anymore. Either of the expansion bays to the left of the optical drive bay in the desktop model can accommodate a 3.5" drive. You'll need the appropriate plastic mounting sled for the drive, because the upper bay uses a slightly different style sled than the lower bay does. The second hard drive would have to share the ATA bus with the optical drive, because there's no feasible way to connect the original hard drive (where it's mounted) and the second hard drive to the same ATA cable/bus. If you were to move the existing hard drive to the lower 3.5" upper drive bay and install the second hard drive directly above it, their shared ribbon cable could be fed through the same slot used by the optical drive's ribbon cable. You would also have to feed the power cable up from the lower chassis floor. This arrangement would require removal of the optional Zip drive, if your desktop model has one.
Go to "Data Memory Systems" web site, click on "G3 Memory," but choose one of the Blue and White G3 models listed for compatible PC-100 memory for your beige G3. Their memory for the beige G3 models may only be PC-66, which I wouldn't buy today. The PC-100 memory is actually a better choice for the beige G3s. Compatible 256 MB DIMMs will be 168-pin, PC-100 (unbuffered, non-ECC, non-parity) SDRAM with low density (128 Megabit) chips. The correct memory card will have 8 chips on both the front and back of the card, for a total of 16 chips. If you buy a 256 MB DIMM that only has 8 chips on one side of the card or 4 chips on the front and 4 on the back, the memory has 256 Megabit chips, which aren't supported by the beige G3's memory controller.
I think the Radeon 9200 is almost too good for a beige G3, given the price tag. To save some $$, I'd look for an older/used Radeon 7000 for Macs at eBay, which is still much better than the onboard ATI graphics chip.

Formatting error on pivot table in migrate report

Hi to everyone.
I've this problem:
I'm migrate a report from OBIEE publisher created on test environment to production environment.
The version of OBIEE publisher is the same on test and production (11.1.1.6), i' don't know which patch is installed in the 2 environment.
My problem is on a pivot table in a report, the Header measure column ha 75px Height, in test environment the full Height have the back color i've choose (Gray) while in production environment the same report with the same specs have the Header Measure column is half in GRAY (my back color choose) and half in blue (standard color of background).
If i create a new Pivot table with the same style in production ambient and in test i've the same problem.
Can someone help me for this problem?

This the total code for Pivot table and to export that to Excel i think something in the below code is not supported in 11.1.1.6 and later versions. Can i use <dvt:exportPivotTableData> in commandButton ? because when i comment this code it is working fine.
