Choosing correct BP for ESS

Hi,
I have a ECC 6 system on EP3, it seems to BP version 1.31 is for this ECC version.
When I go to download ESS BP v 1.31 ther are 6 files for SP01 to SP06 respectively.
While deploying BP on portal end should I directly deploy the latest BP file (in this case SP6) or I should apply all of them sequentially.

Permission problem: Correct roles for ESS??

Hello to all,
I have implemented ESS for mySAP ERP 2005. If I start ESS in portal, it only works fine when the backenduser in mySAP ERP2005 has sap_all permissions. If I delete it and try only with some ESS roles I get an error like not having the correct permissions to start XssMenu.
Can anybody tell me which roles and/ or profiles I had to add to these users? At the moment I only added the SAP_EMPLOYEE_ERP role but it seems that is is not the whole solution.
Any ideas?

You no longer can upgrade to Mountain Lion. You need to first reinstall Lion to try and correct your mistake.
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
In the future leave permissions alone. They should never need changing.

Itunes player says it has not been correctly localized for this language, Please choose the English version. It has played fine up until today.

Let's try a repair install of iTunes.
Restart the PC first.
If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair".
If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "iTunes", and click "Change". Select "Repair" and click "Next" as per the following screenshot:

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone (if you're using iOS 7), then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. CORRECT DRIVER FOR WINDOWS 7 AND HP COLOR LASER JET 4600dn

I'm having a problem with our IT department. My old 4600dn worked great until they started downloading new drivers for Windows 7, which they installed just recently. Now the one he INSISTS I use has only one tray selection.... Auto. I'm trying to print business cards..(absolutely no problem till now).... but he INSISTS that this is the only driver. Then he wants me to choose Pg.....select 1, then MANUAL DUPLEX. That's almost impossible for the printer. I'm almost POSITIVE you have a print driver that will allow me the tray selections I had before he installed Windows 7 and this particular driver. I always used "Tray 1," CURRENT PAGE, it zoomed through the perforated cardstock like a streak!!!! Now, the poor printer is trying to run perforated cardstock through the duplexing unit. Out of 10 pages of cards, I ended up with 1 front printed and 9 pieces of cardstock that stuck in the tray and jammed in the duplexing unit. Is there a CORRECT print driver for this particular printer that will allow all my normal functions to be visible and viable? I don't have the model, nor serial #, as it is work printer and I'm at home now, so I can't get on chat. He is hard to get along with and has been playing games this whole time. I found one driver he inadvertantly left a day and a half ago and printed the cards like lightening, as it used to....7 minutes and I had 200 cards for two different staff members. PLEASE HELP! I think he's leading me down a merry path. It also has to be able to duplex fairly heavy graphic pages...and even the driver he accidently left as an option, won't print the graphics. I just KNOW you have a driver with all the options that will allow it to print to Windows 7 Operating System with all the former options. HELLLLLLLP!

I am implementing ESS in portal.
I am in step of defining systems in portal for ESS/MSS.
Below is link I am following from help.sap.com

Following additional systems must be created :
SAP_ITS_EBU Looks similar to SAP_ITS_XSS above

Now the basis person in my project has handed over to me following systems :
SAP_BSP_EREC
SAP_ITS_FND Name mismatch as FND is used in place of XSS or EBU
SAP_R3_Financials
SAP_WebDynpro_ESS Name mismatch as ESS is used in place of XSS
Now below two systems are altogether missing as per first link on help.sap.com
SAP_ECC_HumanResources
SAP_ECC_Travel
Please explain if it requires to be corrected or name mismatch and missing ststems would do.

All the above names that you are referring to are not necessarily separate systems.
These are system aliases for a system object created in your portal via System Administration - System landscape.
So, if you have HR and Finance on the same backend server, then you need only one system with the related system aliases.
You will need SAP_BSP_EREC only if you are planning on using E-recruitment.
Similarly, you will need SAP_ITS_XSS only if you are planning on using any ITS applications.
It is pretty straight forward to change/correct the names of your system aliases instead of changing the usage of these aliases every where else.
SAP_ECC_HumanResources is absolutely necessary.
SAP_ECC_Travel is required if you are planning on using travel and expense related applications.
Also, note that SAP_WebDynpro_XSS should be the alias of the system where your webdynpro applications are deployed (typically the same portal server)

There are 3 domains (bmp, eai and wli) in 2.1. Can any one point me to the documentation
that throws light to how to choose a correct domain for your needs?

Here is some light:
bpmdomain is configured with BPM only.
eaidomain is configured with AI and BPM. This includes the AI and DI BPM plug-in.
wlidomain is configured with AI, B2Bi, and BPM. This includes the AI, DI and B2Bi BPM
plug-in.
samples is configured like wlidomain but has sample data associated with it.
You can always read the config.xml for each domain and see what applications get deployed
when the domain server gets started.

ECC 5.0 with EP 7.0 for ESS!

I'm trying to implement ESS in EP 7.0 whereas the backend is ECC 5.0. While trying to create the JCO destinations for metadata it is showing a error like the following

Do you have a sapmsEPT entry in your services file? (/etc/services)
I'm not sure, but if I remeber correctly, ECC5.0 and EP7.0 ESS/MSS do not match.
Or was it EP6.0 and ECC6.0 that don't match? One of the two is definately incompatible.
Also, in the backend, do you have entries in the servcies file corresponding to the Sys-Nr of the Portal?

System configuration for ESS/MSS Implementation

Hi,
I am stuck while configuring the systems for XSS configuration. I have completed following:
1) Installed Portal 7.00 (based on NW2004s) which uses the backend ERP2005 system as a User Master source.
2) Implemented the business packages for ESS 1.0 (SP6), MSS 1.0 (SP6) and SAPPCUI_GP 600 (SP6).
3) Configured the SLD ( we have SLD running on a separate XI system)
4) Configured JCO destinations (tested ok).
5) Configured Systems for Portal and the ERP systems with system aliases.
    For Portal System:   I have only configured the WAS properties (i.e. hostname, path and protocol).and User management (using UDIPW as the logon method)
The system alias is SAP_WebDynpro_XSS
    For ERP System: I have configured connection, user management and W.A.S. properties. The system aliase is SAP_ECC_HumanResources
However, when I perform the connection tests for both systems, they both fail for "Connection Test for connectors" test. It gives the message "Connection failed. Make sure the user mapping is set correctly and all connection properties are correct".
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I had not maintained the connector properties for this system before, but I have now maintained as following:
Application Host : C1BL1 (also included the domain)
Logical System Name   : ER1CLNT210
Remote Host Type - 3
SAP Client   : 210
SAP System ID (SID) : ER1
SAP System Number : 00
Server Port : 3200
System Type - SAP_R3
The system alias for EP is: SAP_WebDynpro_XSS
In the UME configuration --> User mappings, I am using SAP_ECC_HumanResources system as the reference system.

I am on ERP2004, EP 6.0 SP20. I am trying to create a system landscape for the ESS/MSS Applications. ALways the connection test fails. This is the landscape I am trying to create:
1. One SAP Dedicated Application Server: for SAP_WebDynpro_XSS
 Connector Details:
Application Host: <host>.<company.com>
SAP CLient: 010
SAP System Number: 00
Server Port: 3200 (Using Dedicated Application Server)
WAS Details:
 Host: <hostname>.<company.com>:50000

When I am testing the

I am getting the following errors:
1. Retrieval of default alias successful
2. Connection failed. Make sure user mapping is set correctly and all connection properties are correct.
WAS Connection Tests:
1. The system ID is valid
2. The system was retrieved.
3. The system object represents an SAP system
4. The following parameters are valid: Web AS Protocol (http) Web AS Host Name (<J2EE Engine Host>.<company.com>:50000)
5. The host name <J2EE Engine Host>.<company.com> was resolved successfully.
6. The server <J2EE Engine Host>.<company.com>:50000 could not be pinged successfully.
SSO is not set up yet. I do not understand why the details of J2EE Engine under WAS details in a system type : SAP Dedicated Application Server? Please help me. I am missing something.

But the ping always fails.
I do not understand one more thing from help.sap.com on System Landscape for ESS.
Documentation says:
Set up your system landscape. To do this, set up the following systems:
what kind of system this is: SAP_R3 or SAP_BW/SAP_CRM. In standard portal system template, there is no system like "J2EE engine".

Clock in out correction error in ESS

Dear Experts,
We are getting very strange error in clock in out correction application in ess
When we are trying to make new clock in/out entry within 2hours of system it gives us error " The date of the correction is outside the permitted processing period".
Example: If system time is 14:30pm and if we are entering correction entry of 12:30pm system is not accepting it. But if we enter 11:30am on same date, it accept that entry without any error.
We checked background config node related to define period for clock in out correction and retroactive processing permitted period.
Its all fine, but we dont know from where we are getting above error.
Please guide us.

Broken DC in CBS for ESS

Hello All,
I have imported ESS sc and its depencies to the track. The import finished. But, looks like in CBS there are 236 broken Dc's is it normal to have broken DC or do I have reimport the components?

The cfg is some thing a custom DC or is it a SCA in ESS?
I think that there is no sca called cfg for ESS. When we import ESS SCA normally we should add sca's like: ESS, SAPPCUI_GP, JEE,JBUILD,JTECHS. I am not sure where cfg SCA is coming from?
Some times these issues because of SC dependencies are not synchronised correctly , we resolve these issues while clicking on Synchronize SC Dependencies from the CMS landscape configurator but it may work or may not.
I am not sure how far the manual build helpful but you can give a try.

Determine Correct Agent for Escalation (Latest End)

Good Day
I am currently experiencing the following issue. I am the workflow administratrator for a project that just went live in a pilot phase.When checking transaction SWF_GMP (Administrator Overview). There are several Pending instances with missed deadline. After investigation realised that the agent specified for escalation were not being filled.
Then specified the following for the latest end tab for the agent. Rule 168 is used to determine the superior for the agent who accepted the work item. In the binding for the rule specified the variable Workitem.executeuser.NameWithLeadingUS = ORG_OBJECT.
Now when using the program RSWWDHEX_DEBUG and breaking on the function mdoule SWX_GET_MANAGE from Rule 168 to see which values were passed to the function module, the value passed is the background user and not the agent expected.
If you check the variable in the workflow log, the correct agent is displayed against the work item the escalation needs to take place from. So the issue is to find the correct agent for the workflow.

BP's depends upon what all functionality you want to use. e.g If you are using ESS/MSS then you need to deploy BP's for ESS/MSS.

You should install latest version of BP's on NW 7.3 like for ESS/MSS latest version is 1.51.

It depends upon you. If you want to use ESS/MSS for web dynpro ABAP then you need to install BP of ESS for web dynpro ABAP but if you don't want to use web dynpro then you can use same way as you are doing currently.
