Choosing default currency when creating an EPMA application

Good morning everyone,
I have to create a new EPMA application. In the early steps of the Application Creation Wizard you have to choose the default currency from a dropdown list, but the currency I need is not listed in it.
Is there any way to add a new currency to that dropdown list?

NO U cannot have it since Currency in sales is in Sales Org which is missing in yr config.
U need to enter it manually.

Error when creating a FDM application on SQL Server 2005

Hi,
we are getting this error when creating a FDM application on SQL Server 2005
Error: EPMCSS-07003: Failed to validate identity. Invalid identity . Check identity.[SET_ROLES_LIST]
We are using Windows System Integration although we have also tested with sa user.
Any ideas?

Based on the error message it appears to be having a Shared Services issue. Verify that the "ADMIN" account is being used for the HSS connection and that you are using "ADMIN" to create the application and see if the same error is returned.

Known bugs in 7.0 when creating a new application

Hi all
When creating a new application in BPC 7.0, do you know of any bugs or errors that could occur during the process?
We know that e.g. in OS 4.2 you had to check the logic library for the fxtrans file and create a new one, as it did not finish with the creation process properly.
Are there similar problems in 7.0?

As already suggested by Sorin, there are no known bugs and it will b difficult to tell also. Usually, when you are creating a new application, there should not be any problems, if you have done it properly. However, if the underlying dimensions have any problems, then there might be issues in the application also. Before creating the application, process all the dimensions. Then create the application and assign the required dimensions and assign appropriate member access profiles. There should not be any problems.

1. As you are taking service, your database is oracle database, you might have created a user/schema .
2. When you are creating FDM application and that too providing details of database , there is a button 'options',which has more options like tablespace..etc.
3. If you have created a schema and it has a specific table space ,then you need to provide these details also.else, while creating a user, if you have selected everything as default, then no need to go to 'options'.

PDF Bookmarks - Change Default Width When Creating PDF File from InDesign

When creating a PDF file (from Indesign CS4) I automatically create the PDF bookmarks based on the InDesign document's Table of Contents.
But by default the width in the bookmarks is always set at "Fit Page".
Is there a way to change the default to "Fit Width" in Indesign before the PDF is created?
It's too much trouble to change every bookmark in the PDF after it's created.

Thanks, Steve. I have actually previously done what "fogharty" suggests and it does work if I want to set the pages to "fit width" or a variety of other options. However, none of the options is inherit zoom which is what I, and many other from the sound of the thread, need and want. We want to respect our end users--not dictate how they must view our PDFs. Hopefully, Adobe will listen and make this option available soon.

Problem when Creating Project (Composite Application Services) in NWDS

I've seen a few posts regarding this but I don't feel as if any real solution was given.
I just installed Netweaver Developer Studio (7.0.15) with the current JDK/JRE (1.6.0_07). When trying to create a new Composite Application Services project within the Studio, using the new project wizard, I get an error: Problem when Creating Project.
I get the EJB Module and Dictionary to create within my navigator with no problems, however, during the creation of the metadata, the error occurs. I do have the metadata folder appear within the navigator, but nothing in it. None of the other three items are created.
I have tried the attempt at deleting the metadata folder within my workspace directory and trying again but the same exact result occurs.
Is there any other solution out there for this problem besides attempting to find older versions of NWDS, etc. that are more "stable"?

Very simple but effective solution.
I had tried uninstalling / re-installing NWDS with no effect but uninstalling / re-installing NWDS AND all java related products on my machine did work.
Note: For anyone else with this issue in the future. I installed the Java SDK / JRE 1.4.2_18 with NWDS 7.0.15 in case this is also a possible issue with versions.

Projects dropped from shared services when creating an essbase application

When we try to create an essbase application via EAS - there is an error message Unable to createExternalUser. then when we log in to shared services - there are no projects available.
This is for version 9.3.1.0

Well let me explain a little bit further:
I created an own security module which manages the whole security in Essbase. I get the grants from a corporate system and then just apply them by some definitions natively in Essbase using filters etc.
To make sure the grants on the server are exactly the same as the grants that get delivered to me, I export the complete security in Essbase using MaxL and import it to a relational DB. I then check whether there are any grants which shouldn't be there and vice versa.
If now an admin user creates an application, he gets an additional application manager grant for this application. He does not loose his admin permissions.
Now in my check this application manager grant pops up as this grant is not in the corporate system but created Essbase internally when a application is created.
If I export the complete security this application manager grant is there.
I would like to get rid of these errors in my check. Also it makes no sense that an admin user gets an Application Manager grant because he already has that permission as an admin user.
I already searched the documentations but didn't find a setting to disable this behaviour of Essbase.
Btw. Essbase version is 11.1.1.3.
Maybe someone of you guys know if there is any chance to do this - if not, I have to find another solution.

Duplicate contacts when created from another application like Mail

When adding a contact to Address Book from another application (from an email signature for example) two of the same contact are always created. This does not happen when creating a contact from within Address Book. Anyone have this problem and correct it?

Address book has a feature "look for duplicates" under Card in the menu bar. This will merge duplicate entries into on. But now I have some weird double names (but they're one contact/one card).

Unable to choose foreign key when creating reference partition

Hello
I have 2 foreign keys on a table. I am trying to choose the 2nd foreign key when creating a reference partition. I am unable to select the required foreign key.
The model has Table A -> Table B -> Table C. Table A has a list partition. Table B is the child of Table A. I created a reference partition on Table B. Table C is child of Table B. There are 2 FKs on table C. I am unable to choose the required FK to create reference partition on table C.
SQL Developer version - 3.0.0.665

Hi,
The FK that can be selected is normally the oldest FK that was created for the Table.
So one option would be to delete and then recreate the FK that is selectable. This process may need to be repeated if there are several FKs that are "older" than the one you wish to use for Reference Partitioning.

Can't find the table when creating the form application

I have created a new table named lp_cschedule under a user named
lptrain in users tablespace.
I want to create a form application to view this table. However,
I can find this table in the list.

Perhabs, the application's owner does not have the previleges on
the table you have mentioned. Follows the citation of the Forms
(from tables or views) wizard help:
Tables, views, and synonyms in the application schema where you
have SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, or DELETE privileges.
Tables, views, and synonyms where SELECT has been granted to
public users.
You automatically have SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, or DELETE
privileges on a table or view if it is owned by an application
schema where you have Edit or higher access privileges.
You can check the owner (=schema) of the application from the
Navigator clicking on the Edit action link against your
application.

How do I choose an image when creating or updating a Contact?

Hey All,
I just upgraded to Mountain Lion and I'm converting all of my contacts (from various accounts) to use the iCloud service, and all is going very well except for one small thing. When I either update or create a new contact via the Contacts application, I cannot choose a custom image to associate with a contact. The application only allows me to choose from a list of "Defaults", "Recently Used" or allows me to take a picture from my computer's camera. It seems odd that I can't simply select any image from my hard drive (or from iPhoto), but maybe I haven't set something up correctly.
The web interface for iCloud allows me to select a custom image from my hard drive so I have a work around, but its a bit clunky to do a lot of them.
Anyone else having this problem?

When you're in the contact photo edit screen, in the bottom right there is another edit button, click that and drag and drop the desired image in there, scale it as desired, save.

Please Help - Avoid default name when creating constraints

Here I am creating two very simple tables:

After done while I choose to view table constraint information by using:

I usually name primary & foreign key and check constraints. But not null constraints - too much of an effort to name them IMO.
But you do raise an interesting topic. Why bother naming some constraints (e.g. PK and FK) and not others (e.g. not null)? So playing devil's advocate, why should we be naming constraints at all?
It sounds like you're suggesting that all constraints should get system default names. Well, one can argue that the same effort of naming other constraints is not worth it - why have null constraints as the exception to implicit naming? I would think that the issue I raised also applies to all constraints.
You have multiple foreign key constraints for INVOICE_ID - how do you name these? I would like both the table and column names as this will provide the meaning needed when seeing the constraint being violated. But with 30 chars only, that is a problem. So invariable one needs to start to abbreviate table and column names in order to make it meaningful constraint name. Been there many times - disliked the constraint name I came up with every time, as it was a compromise and not the actual naming format I would have preferred.
If that's what you're suggesting, doesn't that create problems for you when different environments have different constraint names? I know personally that I'd much rather have named constraints so that when there are constraint violation errors in production, I can start troubleshooting the problem in my local environment without first determining how to map the production constraint name to my local database's constraint name. Understand your point - and yes, it can be an issue. But by the same token, why should an application user ever see a default Oracle exception? With the exception of system-type exceptions (e.g. no more tablespace space, eof on communcation channel), all other exceptions should be custom application exceptions.
Showing for example a "+ORA-00001: unique constraint (xxx.xxxxx) violated+" is wrong IMO. The app code should trap that exception and raise a meaningful and unique application exception for that. The user seeing anything other than a custom app exception, should itself be an exception.
And I'd much rather be able to put the constraint name in a script that is to be promoted through the environments rather than coming up with a process that uses dynamic SQL to figure out the name of the constraint I want to do something to. Well, I would not rely on a constraint name itself to determine what it is. Just because it says fk_invoiceid_invoices does not mean that is is a foreign key on column invoice_id and references the invoices table. The safe/proper thing to do would be to query the data dictionary and confirm just what that constraint is.
I suppose if you know that all the lower environments are very recent clones of production rather than running all the scripts in source control that these problems may not be particularly large. But I'm curious if you have some better approach to handling them (or if I'm completely misinterpreting what you're suggesting).Not sure if you recall some feature discussion with Tom and others (was on asktom?) when someone came up with this core issue and suggested it be addressed by allowing one to define an exception message with the definition of the constraint. Cannot recall the exact syntax proposed, but I do remember thinking that it was not a shabby idea - as this solves the problem of having to invent a meaningful name using 30 chars only. And it also removes the need for trapping that constraint violation in all app code that may cause the exception and raising a custom and meaningful app exception instead. Not too mention that plain and direct SQL access will show the same exception message.
Perhaps in Oracle 12c? I assume the c as it seems that The Next Big Thing is cloud computing and surely Oracle 12 will somehow try to exploit that buzzword - as it has with i (Internet) and g (Grid) versions. ;-)
