Choosing the outgoing interface

Hello all.
I have a (two) C160 mail security appliance with the following network configuration .
1 phisical interface
2 IP interfaces, let's say 192.168.1.100 and 192.168.1.101
2 Listeners. "Public" (192.168.1.100) and "private" (192.168.1.101).
Mails flow is working great, but we are having a problem with the outgoing email traffic.
Our email server sends outgoing traffic to the ironport appliances (DMZ) on the private listener.
The ironport relay emails from that address.
Isn't possible to have the ironport to take the messages from the "private" listener and then send them out from the "public" listener?
Many thanks for you precious help.
Giovanni

Hello Giovanni,
listeners are for receiving only, so I suppose you mean the messages coming from private listeners should be delivered via the interface with IP 192.168.1.100. You can do that with an outbound content filter,  simply create such a filter without any condition, and a single action "Deliver from IP Interface", where you specify the interface 192.168.1.100. Submit, and add them to all you outgoing mail policies, then commit.  In case you want to do that with message filters (if familiar with them), then you'd also need a condition checking for the listeners, as message filters don't differ between inbound and outbound (relayed) messages.
Hope that helps,
Andreas

  • Outgoing interface modification

    Hello,
Im trying to find out as I am somehow lost in the middle now about how to change the interface used for the outgoing connection/packet .
    3 options :
     1. change in the FWPM_LAYER_IPFORWARD_V4
changing the interface index in the FwpsInjectForwardAsync0 IF_INDEX
interfaceIndex to represent the outgoing interface number
    2.
change the Destination Mac Address or the interfaceindex(as its how forwarding works, usually) to the required interface mac address.
using FWPM_LAYER_OUTBOUND_MAC_FRAME_ETHERNET with FwpsInjectMacSendAsync0 changing the IF_INDEX interfaceIndex3. Using FWPM_LAYER_ALE_BIND_REDIRECT_V4 changing FWPS_BIND_REQUEST0 changing localAddressAndPort to represent the ip address of the interface needed to be used as an outgoing interfaceAny help would be totally helpfulThank you very much .

  • How to choose the good Network Interface on a server ?

    Hi all,
On server you have generally more than one ip address so ...How to choose the good Network Interface on a server for the NoSQL Node ?
    Thank you for all
    C.Pruvost.

Hi Charles I only consider storage nodes and their replicated nodes.
Actually I show an error in the logs saying that one of my storage node use a loopback address. On my laptop I have a network interface and a loopback address (disabled)...when starting sn1 I show that the port 5000 is only linked to the ip address 0.0.0.0 so it is not the good ip address..although i use for configuring :
    java -jar ..\lib\kvstore-2.0.23.jar makebootconfig -root root1 -port 5000 -admin 5001 -host ipaddress_of_my_laptop -harange 5010,5020
    and after
java -jar ..\lib\kvstore-2.0.23.jar start -root root1
If you have a sample tutorial that explains how simulate on the same laptop an Oracle NoSQL architecture running on 3 disctinct servers please give us this information.
    Thank you for all.
    Christophe.

  • In PI 7.1, condition editor does not show the outbound interface structure

    Hello,
I am using PI 7.1, I need to use condition whild determing receivers. So I opened the condition editor, then open the expression editor, select XPath instead of Context object. I would expect that the outbound interface structure appears in the box underneath the XPath, so that I can navigate the structure to choose the field I want to use. However nothing appears here. Do you knwo why is that? Or do I need to do anything to bring up the outbound interface structure in the expression editor?
    Thanks
    Jayson

    Hi Jayson,
    I had the same problem
the use of context objects and the value help for xpath is available for XI3.0 interfaces in PI 7.10 only. The functionality for "new" interfaces has been implemented in 7.11 only.
you have to use xpath w/o value help.
I have created a context object in one of our 7.10 test systems, and indeed I was unable to use it in a receiver determination unless the service interface pattern is "Stateles (XI 3.0 compatible)". If you were to change the service interface to that pattern, you have to change the operation name unless it is already identical to the interface name. So that may not be an option for you.
It was possible to use the context object in a receiver rule but then I could not activate the receiver determination because the software component version was supposedly unknown. I will check with my PI contacts - please let me know if the change to "XI 3.0" interface would be a possible workaround for you.
Try the steps which I am giving below, although it's a workaround and don't know the exact reason why it is failing.
    1. Open your Outbound Message Interface (which you are using in your Receiver Determination) in IR, edit it and change the Interface pattern (which is there just below the category "Outbound") to "Stateless (XI30 - Compatible)" , save it activate it.
    2. Follow the same step for your Inbound Message Interface. Change the Interface Pattern from "Sateless" to "Stateless (XI30 - Compatible)" .
    3. Go to ID. Remove your Outbound and Inbound Message Interface from their respective Business Service/Comp and add it again.
    4. Create your your receiver determination again using the Outbound and Inbound MI you have changed.
    5. Open condition editor of your receiver determination. You should be able to see your Message Interface and can choose the XPath.
    Thanks,
    Raj

  • Itunes COM SDK: cannot register function with iTunes Outgoing Interface

I am doing benchmarks and I want to time the encoding of a Music CD. In order to stop the "clock" and compute the time I am trying to bind a function with the _IITConvertOperationStatusEvents::OnConvertOperationCompleteEvent()
I am writing a AutoIt script and I can create the iTunes application object but when I use the ObjEvent function to register my function with the event above it causes a COM exception to be raised and the ObjEvent completes with an error. The exception code I get is 80040200 which seems to be a generic error.
    $objApp=ObjCreate("iTunes.Application")
    $SinkObject=ObjEvent($objApp, "ITEvent", "_IITConvertOperationStatusEvents")
    <<exception 80040200>>
Browsing the iTunes COM TypeLib the _IITConvertOperationStatus does not seem to be a child in the iTunes object hierarchy so I think this is way the exception is being raised. I have tried to register another function with another outgoing interface and this works just perfectly: _IiTunesEvents::OnQuitting()
Do I need to create another object which gets passed as the first parameter to the ObjEvent function?
    *Here is the entire script:*
    $ITSourceKindAudioCD = 3
    $begin = 0
    Global $trackName, $progressValue, $maxProgressValue, $SinkObject
    $oMyError = ObjEvent("AutoIt.Error","MyErrFunc") ; Install a custom error handler
    $objApp = ObjCreate("iTunes.Application")
    If @error Then
MsgBox(0, "ObjCreate", "Create Object Failed", 3)
    Exit
    EndIf
    $event = ObjEvent($objApp, "ITEvent1_", "_IiTunesEvents")
    If @error Then
MsgBox(0, "Failed", "IiTunesEvent binding failed", 5)
    Exit
    EndIf
$SinkObject = ObjEvent($objApp, "ITEvent_", "_IITConvertOperationStatusEvents") ; Assign events to UDFs starting with IEEvent_
    If @error Then
MsgBox(0, "ObjEvent binding", "ObjEvent failed!", 10)
    $objApp.Quit()
    Exit
    EndIf
    $colSources = $objApp.Sources
    $begin = TimerInit()
    For $objSource in $colSources
    If $objSource.Kind = $ITSourceKindAudioCD Then
    $strName = $objSource.Name
    $colPlaylists = $objSource.Playlists
    $objPlaylist = $colPlaylists.ItemByName($strName)
    $colTracks = $objPlaylist.Tracks
    $objApp.ConvertTracks2($colTracks)
    EndIf
    Next
    Do
; Wait around for the ripping to complete
    Until False
; This is my custom error handler
    Func MyErrFunc()
    $HexNumber = hex($oMyError.number,8)
    Msgbox(0,"","We intercepted a COM Error !" & @CRLF & _
    "Number is: " & $HexNumber & @CRLF & _
    "Windescription is: " & $oMyError.windescription )
    EndFunc
    Func ITEvent1_OnQuittingEvent()
    MsgBox(0, "Bye", "Bye-Bye", 10)
    EndFunc
    func ITEvent_OnConvertOperationCompleteEvent()
    $dif = TimerDiff($begin)
    MsgBox(0,"Time Difference",$dif)
    $objApp.Quit()
    EndFunc

much of this is speculation because I can't remember how many previous versions of iTunes were on these machines...but this is what we're seeing:
extra entries in two registry keys... when it didn't work these two registry entries contained "AppID" values:
    HKEYCLASSESROOT\CLSID\{B9E1D2CB-CCFF-4AA6-9579-D7A4754030EF}\Implemented
    Categories
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{B9E1D2CB-CCFF-4AA6-9579-D7A4754030EF}
with the APpID set to the same iTunes CLSID string:
    {B9E1D2CB-CCFF-4AA6-9579-D7A4754030EF}
and when it did work the AppIDs entries were gone. this is only on XP.
on vista there never was any AppID entry.
but, again, i wonder if that was added by previous versions of iTunes which we didn't install on the vista machines...
Also, worthy of noting is this post from Apple:

  • Choosing an output interface

How do you choose which audio interface Soundtrack Pro will use for it's Output?
I have a M-Audio Delta card which I use for Logic and I want to use it for STP too. OK, so I can change the defualt output in Audio MIDI Setup in the utilities folder but then every application will be sending to the Delta. I really only want my Pro Apps sending to the Delta and leave iTunes, iChat etc sending to the built in audio.

Soundtrack Pro uses the interface selected in AudioMidi Setup. There's no audio preferences for setting the driver used like in other pro audio apps.

    Hi,
Just switch to the start screen, then move the mouse to the right side, click the "Settings" bar, then click "Personalize", then choose a colour you want.
Add: you can also refer to this link to change the colour by editing registry

  • Is there an option to go back to the regular menu bar so I don't have to select from the tab. Not happy at all with the new interface

I would like to know if I can restore the old interface. I don't like it, and rather select from a a menu instead of going to a tab to get the old menu options. I only use Firefox and not fond at all of the other browsers.
Although I am not happy with the one change, It still beats the other browsers so far.

Here are my own tips to make FF4 look like the previous version.<br><br>
    * Right click a blank part of the tab bar and click "Tabs on top" to remove the checkmark. Tabs will subsequently reappear below the search bar.<br><br>
    * Repeat the same steps, but click the top one called "Menu bar". This will reinstate the text links at the top.<br><br>
    * To rearrange the layout, repeat the same steps again and choose "Customize". A panel will open and while that remains onscreen, you can move elements like toolbars, buttons etc around and place them anywhere you wish. You can also drag anything you don't like into that panel and add anything you want by dragging it out of there.<br><br>
    * To replace the status bar at the foot of the page, install this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/status-4-evar/
See screenshot. Both top and bottom views are FF4.

Where do I find the Output Pop Up Menu on the Soundtrack Interface?

Assuming you are in Address Book, you choose the records you want to print and then the File/Print menu selection.
If the printer menu comes up with only the name of the printer and "Presets" dropdown choices, you click on the arrow to the right of the printer name to expand the print menu. Make sure the box below the pages to print is showing "Address Book" and you will see the "Style" below it.

  • The workspace interface on 8

I have 6, and have a very hard time reading/using the dark interface.  I heard that 7 can be changed to a lighter one.  Do you know if this is available on the new 8?
    Thanks,

Version 7 has a slider to adjust from dark to lighter allowing you to select your own setting. However in Version 8 they went backwards to an extent by providing only two setting Light or Dark to choose from.

  • Possibility of adding the 3rd interface as a 2nd Public interface?

Is it possible, with VPN 3030, to configure the 3rd interface (which is labeled as "External" and, is usually used for "management", I assume) as another Public interface? So that two different kinds of VPN connections can be physically separated....
Any help and pointers will be much appreciated! -Bill

    Hi Aamir,
I am having problem to understand the use of External interface of VPN3000.
Does it mean I can have a VPN3000 with two Providers? Public interface terminates to ISP 1 and External interface terminates to ISP 2 ?
Regarding the routing (only one default gateway) does it mean the following traffic flow ?
    1. Incoming traffic from ISP 1 will go to the Public interface and outgoing traffic will go through the same Public interface.
    1. Incoming traffic from ISP 2 will go to the External interface , but outgoing traffic will go through Public interface.
    Thanks,

    Is it possible?

    Hi.
    IPMP can coexist with VNIC.
IPMP - part of Solaris. So you not need check version of IPMP. Just read Docs for Solaris.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23823_01/html/816-4554/ipmptm-1.html#scrolltoc
It's not clear what Vnic you plan use. Is it VLAN or just additional IP on interface ?
For test address of IPMP you should configure interface like bge0:1 with additional options.
    Regards.

  • This new version is annoying! It has crashed, had Flash issues and I'm not keen on the new interface. How do I go back to the previous version?

I don't like the interface, the browser crashed first session and I'm having Flash issues. How can I uninstall this version and go back to the previous one?

You can uninstall Firefox from your Control Panel (under Add & Remove Programs). When you uninstall, make sure that you DON'T choose the option "Remove my Firefox Personal Data".
You can find the [http://www.squidoo.com/firefox-web-browser#module155179094 Older Versions of Firefox] (Windows and Mac versions) and accordingly download the one you want. However, please note that Firefox recommends using the latest version.
Currently, the only older version that is being maintained by Firefox, in terms of security and safety, is Firefox 3.6.24.

Edited by: Wolfgang073 on Jan 17, 2010 9:11 AM... because for Solaris-ethernet-on-SPARC, the interface name is specific to the chipset that is used for the function.
Your SB150 uses an "ethernet RIO interface" (ERI) on a discrete chipset and does not use hardware for what has often been named "highspeed-media-ethernet" (HME).
The hardware is different, thus the acronym is different.
