Chopped down a load of footage directly from the camera mem card.

Message on FCP says 'item cannot be shared while it is still referencing media on the camera'. What do I do?
I need to export my project but as the footage is still on the camer card I can't. Is there a way to keep my edit and use the same files but saved to my Mac? Really dont want to have to go through and cut it all again if possible. Thanks in advance

Were there icons displayed in missing clips with the small camera in them?
Reimport might work:
File > Import > Reimport from Camera/Archive.

  • I can't import my movies to work on them. They are coming from a external hard drive, not directly from the camera, its type mpeg-e (.mts)

    My movies are type MPEG-2
I can't import my movies to work on them. They are coming from a external hard drive, not directly from the camera, its type mpeg-2 (.mts)
    What can I do ?

    1. Is your external HD connected by firewire?
    2. mpeg2 is the final compressed delivery format of a DVD, not intended for editing, and iMovie cannot handle such files, so you need to convert them first:
    For that you need mpegStreamclip:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/mpegstreamclip.html
which is free, but you must also have the  Apple mpeg2 plugin :
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/
    which is a mere $20.

  • How do i enable the i-pad to download pictures directly from the camera? I have hardware to do so, i think.

How do I enable the I-Pad to download pictures directly from the camera? I have the necessary hardware as well as camera software CD's.

You need a Camera Connection Kit.  Then follow this... http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4101

  • After I import a movie file from the camera memory card, Imovie 10.0.1 acts as if the memory card is empty though I know it isn't.... I can't import that file to iMovie again.. is that the way it worksnow?  Thank you, Filippo

On IMac 10.9  After I import a movie file from the camera memory card to Imovie 10.0.1 it acts as if the memory card is empty though I know it isn't.... I can't import that file to iMovie again.. is that the way it works now?  Anyone know?  Thanks, Filippo

I would like to know this too. I imported a lot of files, then Imovie crashed. I went back in and they are not in imovie at all.
I reconnected the camcorder to import again and though they are still on the camcorder, I no longer see them in the available list of files to import. I'm sure there is some sort of simple setting somewhere that reveals all files even if it thinks they are imported.
    Thanks

  • I have recently received a project from someone who has already captured the footage, can I use the footage directly from the capture scratch for my new project?

Will this in any way effect my footage when working/exporting? I will be working off the same hard drive.

If all the footage played in FC to begin with and all the media is included in the capture scratch folder you should be good to go but I would check a few things.
Pull the new footage into your project and look under the compressor column. If any files are H264 or MP4 I would recommend converting these to a PR422 or another FC friendly format.  Also confirm any audio only files are aiff/48Khz(not mp3 or 44.1Khz).
In my experience you can work with H264,MP4, mp3 & 44.1 in FC7 but you are almost guaranteed to have problems later.

  • Viewing images directly from the camera in Aperture?

Hello to all. I was at a seminar last wednesday and the photographer was saying that I could connect my D300 directly into my Mac and with Aperture I could see the images right after I took it. Is this true because I haven't been able to find anything on the aperture guide nowhere...
Thank you in advance and have a good one!

    Hi,
This is called tethering -- watch the tutorial at:
    http://www.apple.com/aperture/tutorials/#organizeimport-tethering
I haven't used it myself, as I only use Aperture on my Mac Pro Desktop, and I don't shoot in a studio.
Good luck, and check out all the other tutorials available on that same site.

  • My ipad3 w/ camera connection kit will not read my SDHC Class 10 memory card.  Should I try directly from the camera or does ipad not support class 10?

Connection kit will read class 6 cards but not class 10???

I use an 8GB SDHC Class 10 card & it works with my iPad 2. Make sure the 30-pin adapter is fully seated into the side of the iPad.
Here's another way. Import the pics to your computer. Then you can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • Photos with effects. Made directly from the camera on new iOS7.

Computer don't see effects. Photos displays as a simple photos, without effects.
    P.S.: PC - Windows 7

AFAIK, you can't. It appears to me that the phone is merely "tagging" these photos, and most, if not all photo programs on computers can't read these tags. Apple will have to provide a fix.

  • Are full res. thumbnails available from the camera/flash card?

Just wondered, as that would be a useful extension when not wishing to download obvious rejects.

It depends on the RAW file, some have excellent previews (full res! and others at the same time), some only have tiny ones (160x120, which might sound useful, but really is pitiful).
It would in fact be faster to get the previews, because they're (AFAIK) compressed as JPEGs, not RAW. Far easier to render, and far smaller because of the compression.
The RAW file format can cause problems though - some of them have the index-dictionary right at the end of the file, so you have to hope you can do a 'seek' to the end of the file on the card - I have no idea if OSX can do this on a CF card filesystem - otherwise you'd have to read the whole thing in anyway, which would make it pretty useless

  • Printing directly from Canon camera

Can I print directly from Canon Powershot G12 camera to Photosmart 6510 printer

    Hi,
Not DIRECTLY from the camera but you can always pull the memory card from the camera out and plug it to the printer or to your PC/laptop to print.
    Regards.

  • Can I download photo's directly from a camera to my ipod touch?

Camera is a SONY Alpha with 32G flash card and want to download directly from the camera to the iPod touch.

No it does not.  I have one and know and link says for iPad only. The camera connection kit only works with the iPad
    This does work:
AirStash®: wireless flash drive + pocket media server + SD adapter ...
    Google for:
    SD card reader for iPod
    for more products

I believe it also works on iPod Touch.

How can I move Whatsapp or google photos from the camera roll to a different folder
The only way to remove photos from the Camera roll is to delete them. You cannot move them directly from the Camera roll to another album.
Sync the photos to your computer, remove them from iPhone and resync the photos to your iphone.
See this -> iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer

  • After downloading from the camera can I delete from the camera?

I'm using Bridge CS3 to download images from my Canon XTi Digital Rebel. After download I would like to delete the image from the camera's storage disk.
I would like NOT to have to run the Canon's EOS utility to do this and would prefer doing it from within Bridge. But I can't find information regarding how to do this.
    Using IMAC Leopard with SP.
    Thanks,

Opening files directly from the camera is a bad idea for a variety of reasons*, and it most certainly isn't faster than using a FireWire or USB2 card reader.
             Drains the camera battery
Runs the risk of the software you're using to open the images writing to the card and destroying the format
Runs a small but significant risk of USB power frying the camera
Slowest method known to mankind of getting images off a CF or SD card

  • I can no longer shoot directly into phaseone software since i use my new macbook pro with retina display. pictures are not transfered from the camera into captureone. anyone else with this problem? any solutions?

My eyes just glazed over...Please in the future break down each of your issues with paragraphs separated by two carriage returns. It would be much easier when trying to address your issues.
Go to Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Keyboard and Mouse -> Mouse
And edit your mouse settings to do what you want it to do.
Secondly, this is not the place to vent. If you have a complaint, there is:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
    or http://www.apple.com/contact/
We are just end users here helping other end users.
Third, from my understanding, it would appear you are concerned about the noise the hard drive makes when it falls asleep? Why not put your machine in screen saver mode instead? Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Energy Saver turn off all Energy Saver settings, or set them to run Never.
Fourth, if your machine was purchased just a few days ago, you may still be able to get an exchange from the store, quicker than you can get a repair done. You may want to look into that possibility.
Fifth, it does appear you found the Logic forum. I would persist in asking there how to solve your technical issue with Logic regarding the audio. It may be you don't have to do anything special to the hard drive. Remember audio can be transmitted by wire, avoiding ambient sounds.
    Good luck!

  • After effects in the cloud: working directly from the cloud desktop folder?

hi guys, just wondered if anyone had any experience in working directly from the cloud desktop folder?
    any pros or cons?
thought it would be good to have an extra backup system and be able to work from another computer like my laptop instead of copying files around etc..
    any thoughts?
    thanks

Why would anyone? Adobe's cloud storage is complete garbage and even if you were to use alternate systems like Dropbox you still have to wait until the files actually sync, which means that during that time you cannot safely load and save them without risking the files getting damaged. Conversely, once they are damaged and you turn on your other computer and they sync you end up with nothing useful at all because previous, potentially intact file versions get overwritten. Sorry, none of this makes any sense. I'd never entrust any critical work to any of these workflows beyond manually uploading a zipped collected version of the project at the end of the day, but strictly separate from the actual working files/ folders.
