Choppy audio after import?

After I import a CD in iTunes using MP3 160k format, the audio file is choppy.
The CD is not scratched in the least. Does anyone know why this would happen?
Is there a setting I should change?

I would start by adding more RAM to your eMac.
In the meantime, try moving some of the problematic files to another computer and playing them with iTunes or any other MP3 player to see if they still sound choppy. If they do, then you would seem to have some problem with the files themselves rather than with your computer.

  • Sony DCR SX65 has no audio after import

My iMovie app on my Mac Mini has lately not been loading audio after videos have been imported from my Sony DCR SX65. This is something recent as I have previous videos with sound but now it all my uploads do not have sound.

hey there William & welcome to Discussions.
is the VHS tape old or the MiniDV tape? if VHS, it could be that the signal has just deteriorated over time--it can happen w/ poor storage(heat, laying tapes on flat, not re-wound, etc...) & just age. have you tried not recording to MiniDV & just sending the VHS signals through the Sony w/ out a tape in it? it could be that one or more of you audio cables has gone bad, you may have dirty heads in either the VHS VCR &/or the MiniDV or have audio in problems w/ the Sony &/or audio out problems on the VHS VCR or maybe you have a FW issue on the Sony or w/ your FW cable. if you have access to another cam &/or VCR as well as FW & A-V cables, start swapping/troubleshooting & see if your results improve.
    good luck.

  • Only have audio after importing mpeg2 video into.

After importing mpeg2 into Pre, I only have the audio portion of the file.  The video is grayed out.
If I play the imported mpeg2, only the audio plays, no video.
Any thoughts as to what is going on?
    Thanks for any assistance.
    John

    Hi Steve,
The 1080 HD video was shot with a Canon PowerShot SX1 SI and was copied over to the harddrive using the card reader built into the laptop.
The camera recorded the video in QuickTime.mov, and I converted it to mpeg2 by using FreeMake Video Converter software.  The new mpeg2 file played fine on the laptop.
I then imported the new mpeg2 file into the Adobe PRE software.  However, I only had audio and no video in the Adobe PRE. The video link was grayed out, while the audio was not grayed out. When I played the imported mpeg2 file, the video was blank red screen while the audio playing.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    John

  • Choppy audio on import

I've been trying to import video from my mini DV camera and the audio portion is coming in quite choppy. I've deleted the imovie plist as well as the cache to no avail. When the tape plays on the camera itself the audio is fine. Maybe there is an issue with the camera? Has anyone else had this problem?

    Hi S
    a. Camera is set to 12-bit audio (often from factory) set it to 16-bit (and keep it so)
    b. Your tape is recorded in LP-mode. (90 min on a 60 min tape) Don't.
You might try a new project and a new import to this BUT first go to iMovie pref and turn
off - import as separate clips. This might save the audio.
Many possible origins. Five other very commons are:
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disc is less than 10Gb
    • Hard disc is untidy: Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disc (Apple Disc Util tool)
    • Delete iMovie pref file - or rather start a new account - log into this and re-try
    • Third party plug-ins that doesn't work OK
    • Program miss-match: iMovie 6.0.3 or 4, Mac OS X.4.10 AND QuickTime 7.2 - is OK

  • Choppy audio after exporting

I exported the audio of my entire project, but now the exported audio is choppy, almost like it's skipping and I can't revert back to the original. I'm fustrated! Please help!
    MBpro   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

    Hey Sue,
Thanks a lot for the response. Here's the full rundown. I have a home video project that I'm working on that I imported from my camcorder. The audio I was refering to is just the sound from the video.
I found that when I rendered letterbox on my clips, the audio would just cut out and I'd have to go back to my last saved to start again. If I did just rendered a clip or two at a time to letterbox, it'd be ok, but much more than that and it'd lose the audio. I saw on apple.com that others had experienced simiar problems and the fix was to export your audio from you project, THEN render the video footage(now the audio wav portion is right below the video portion on the timeline viewer). So I exported the audio from my entire project. Now, I play back the clips normally and the audio portion is choppy and almost undistinguishable. However, when i pull the audio clips by themselves and put them on itunes, they sound fine so i don't think it was during the exporting that it happened. My project is 52Gigs so perhaps my computer is just too busy or something.
In case you hadn't guessed, I'm new to mac. I purchased a mac specifically for video editing and so far, i've been pretty jaded by all of the different issues that pop up. Hopefully once I start using it more it'll start to make more sense. On the bright side, this whole discussion board thing is pretty cool. Thanks again for the help. Any advice is appreciated.

  • No audio after importing AVCHD files

I have a Sony HDR-SR10 and when I import the AVCHD files into Premiere Elements 9.0 there is no audio track in the timeline and I can not hear the audio either.  I've been reading all the other suggestions to this problem on the threads but I still have not been able to fix it.  I do not have the trial version and the audio on my computer works fine, in fact when I play the videos in other programs, Picture Motion Browser and HP MediaSmart, I can hear the audio.  I have tried importing both m2ts, mts and mpeg2 files but the audio still doesn't work. I have tried importing the video with both HD 1080i 30 5.1 channel and HD 1080i 30 both with no luck.  Please let me know what else I can try to do in order to get the audio working?

My Project Settings are HDV 1080i 5.1 Channel.
My camera manual indicates the audio compression format is Dolby Digital 2/5.1ch Dolby Digitial 5.1 Creator
I read the Conforming article and I'm not really sure how I know if this process is complete?  Should I get an error message if it doesn't conform?
I read your Audio article yesterday when I was trying to fix this.  I have a brand new computer so the audio drivers are all up to date.  When I go to the ASIO settings it lists my Speakers, RealTek High Definition Audio and I have that checked.  Do I need to check Device 32-bit playback or not?
Another thing I forgot to bring up is that when I put an mp3 that came with Premiere in the timeline I can hear it fine.  This makes me think that it has more to do with the file type that I'm importing rather than any audio settings?

  • Can't use the .m2v Video or the .aiff Audio after Importing to Assets Tab

I have Imported my video and audio file into DVD Studio Pro from final cut pro, but I cannot link them to my menu buttons or drag them to the timeline or preview pane. Any suggestions?

Sorry for the very basic question, but you don't mention a "Track" . . . did you created a Track with your video and audio?

  • Nikon 5200 video problems no video only audio after import

Recently I bought a Nikon 5200 and when I import the h.264 footage all i get is a  audio and a black screen. How can I import this properly. I have seen a bunch of ******** about paying for some convereter but I dont think anything as streamlined as these two should have a problem like this

The available bandwidth is not sufficient for you to full multi chats, but you have enough to join by audio only. This means you need a little more bandwidth, try to close iTunes and other B.W. dependent devices (like game console)s should be shut down.
Try to let the other party invite you to join the chat instead of you hosting it by initiating the chat.

  • Can't get rid of original audio after importing movie

I downloaded a video from YouTube. It saved as .m4v.
I then dragged it into GarageBand. The movie was on one track, the audio on another.
I deleted the original audio track and created my own.
I then exported to my hard drive and the movie (.mov) plays just fine with my new audio (in QuickTime).
I then uploaded that to YouTube, but it plays there with the original audio, not my track.
    What to do?

    nbar wrote:

See above. There is probably some remaining metadata that needs to be stripped from the file before uploading. I would examine the .mov file attributes and look for any tags that youtube originally used to recognize the file. IE as suggested above, the name.
Examine the metadata in your Terminal:
    mdls yourmovie.mov
Okay, I'll check all this out. Thanks.

  • IMovie '11 won't let me detach audio after importing from iPhoto.

The option is gray in the menu. I selected the clip I wanted, but it's still not letting me proceed. Any thoughts?

You are not missing anythng. The way to do it is to select the clip and then go to the Advanced menu and select Extract Audio. That's exactly what you are doing.
If it is not working, then probably your iMovie preferences have become corrupted. I suggest that you try the oft recommended maintenance procedure of deleting preferences and then doing a permissions repair.
To delete preferences, close iMovie and trash the file named com.apple.iMovie.plist found in User (the house icon)/Library/Preferences. Then repair permissions by using the Disk Utility app on your Mac, which is located in the Utilities folder. Click on Disk Utility and then select your hard drive icon located in the pane on the left side of the Disk Utilty window. Then click on repair permissions and wait 3-4 minutes for the permissions to be repaired. Then relaunch iMovie. iMovie will replace the .plist file that you deleted.
Make sure that you have sufficient disk space for iMovie to operate: 20 GB is often recomended on this site.
Make sure that all iLife programs are updated to current.
Hopefully that will solve your problem.

  • Why did I lose my audio after importing WMV using Flip4Mac

I was working on iMovie. I lost all of my sound from my events that imported from my Panasonic HDD. Everything was ok until I imported a video which was originally WMV and I imported it using Flip4Mac. What are my options.

  • Why does Adobe Premiere CS6 slow playback after importing some audio?

    Adobe Premiere CS6.0 v6.0.2
    Mac Pro:
    1, 4 core - 3.2ghz CPU
    16gb ram (4 sticks of 4gb @ 1066 MHz)
1 Tb dive with OS/Apps on
    2Tb 7200 RPM media drive
    ATI Radeon HD 5770
    Sequence:
    30Fps
    1920x1080
    Media:
mostly .MFX files from a Canon XF100 however these clips commonly play nice with Premiere.
    Issue:
After importing some audio clips (.wav/.mp3, possibly other extensions) to the timeline on occasion the video playback will become choppy and the audio will slow down 3% creating any voices in the video to become deeper and slows down.  Choppy video playback as well.  The problem is very annoying but  it can be temporarily fixed with a computer restart but it will come back.
    Things to note:
Creating a rendered ID (Exporting the movie out to a .mov) the slowed choppy video does not appear in the final movie.
    Temp. Solution:
The only way I can fix this problem is by restarting the computer.  Simply restarting Adobe Premiere and closing any non-essential applications does not fix the problem.
Any ideas on how to fix this are much apperciated.

Try converting your MP3 to AIFF ,QT or something else Macs like. See if that helps.

  • Audio tracks are lost after importing from iMovie...

After importing my movie from iMovie I lost my audio tracks. What is the problem ?

    Hello kropacd (and Karsten;)):
I realize at this late time that this will be a pain..but you might want to try to extract your audio prior to exporting (sharing) to iDVD to se if that helps...
The only other thing I can imagine is that you used 12-bit audio in your video instead of 16-bit? It really needs to be 16-bit-check the setting on your camera.

  • No Audio in import from iPhone after 24 seconds

First, I'm not an iMovie expert in the least, but I've been trying to work through it and learn as I go.  I'm having a problem where I'm trying to import video clips from my iPhone, and after I go back and watch the imported clip, the audio stops after 24 seconds.  It does it with every imported clip from the phone, every time.  And, like clockwork, it stops after 24 seconds every time.
I also have a JVC camcorder which I've imported clips off of its SD card, and all those import just fine.  So it's only having the problem with the clips from the iPhone.  I can play the clips both on the phone and in the iMovie import window (before it's imported) and they play fine all the way through.  I only lose the audio after it's imported.
    Any ideas are appreciated.
    Macbook Pro OS X 10.8
    iPhone 5.1.1
    iMovie 9.0.7
Oh, one other question maybe someone can answer.  When I connect my iPhone to my mac to import, my iPhone turns its WiFi hotspot on.  This then forces my mac to use that for its internet connection instead of my home internet.  The WiFi in the menu bar still shows connected to my home network, not the hotspot, but I think it's going through the USB connection.   When it's connected and I turn off the hotspot, the phone will then disconnect from iMovie. Is this normal?  Is this how it's supposed to work?  Any way to prevent that?
    Thanks!

I had the same problem so what I did is to download a streamclip media free software, search out from google, then when the clip from memory card are downloaded onto computer I open them with streamclip media and then export them in compatible format , there is option on file menu, I don't reme, ber now as I am replying from a cPC, but this works, so save this exported clip and use it in i movie it plays sound.

  • Audio out of sync after importing .MOV

Experiencing audio out-of-sync issues after importing a .mov clip into Premiere Pro.
The .mov clip causing the problem does not have a problem when played with quicktime or vlc: The audio matches the video perfectly.
Adobe Premiere Pro CC 7.2.1 (4) on OSX 10.9.1
