Choppy / Delayed Scrolling

Hey there!
i bought before 1 week my new Macbook Pro 15 inch. I've got since 1 week also the problem that when I scroll through Facebook the scrolleffect becomes very choppy / delayed. I've tried to accelerate the scrolling-speed but it doesnt helped.
What can I do now? I use a Macbook Pro 15" with an Thunderbolt-DVI Cable for my second Display (AOC F22+) + Magic Mouse.
Thank you for your help!
Sincerely, Arisko!

Okay, its seems that it is only a Firefox Problem.

  • Choppy bitmapData Scroller

I have written a continuous flash bitmap scroller
using the 'scroll' method in CS3 Actionscripts 3.0.
The scroller moves one pixel at a time until you place the
cursor over the stage and then I up the rate to move 4 pixels at a
time. I have the stage framerate set to the max of 120fps.
The problem is that in Internet Explorer the faster (4 pixels
at a time) movement is very choppy. However the scroll is much
    smother in Firefox...
First, why is the scroll smoother in Firefox?
Secondly, what should the framerate be set to, if I am doing
a pure actionscript scroll and not moving to the next frame on the
    stage?
    See at,

Hi and welcome to Apple Discussions...
From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Reset Safari. Click the top 5 buttons. Click Reset.
Relaunch Safari. If the scroll bar issues still exists, you may have third party Safari add-ons that were compatible with the previous version of Safari, but not Safari 5.
Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem. Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues

  • Macbook pro choppy / laggy scrolling after wakeup

As long as the MacBook is running after Boot UI is behaving smooth,
but after MacBook went to sleep and wakes up again UI is very choppy or laggy when scrolling WebPages (all Browsers) or moving Windows.
Only way to get smooth scrolling back is to restart the MacBook
I've got a MacBook Pro Mid 2009 (MacBookPro5,3) and using Mountain Lion actually.
With Snow Leopard i haven't had these Problems

Such problems appear when upgrading a somewhat old machine to a modern  OS. New operating systems demand powerful hardware to run them.
Try go to 'System Preferences' app, then to 'Sharing'; disable the option 'Screen Sharing'. Make sure its status turns to off. Restart your machine.
Disabling some of the OS features that you might not use saves processing power, this  solves such problems.
    Sincerely.

Indesign CS5.5 is really choppy when I scroll with the mousewheel. I have tried setting all settings to the lowest, and disabling live draw, no difference.
What's even stranger is if I use the scrollbar to scroll it's smooth as butter with all settings maxed:

  • Magic Mouse sometimes choppy when scrolling on new iMac

I'm posting this here rather than the BT forum because my intuition tells me that this is iMac/Safari/Snow Leopard related as it sometimes happens sometimes not. When scrolling works optimally (75 %+ of the time) I love the mouses simple aesthetic and fluidity. I'm also intuiting that as the various iMac/MM complaints are resolved (10.6.2?) the 75% will turn into 99 %

    HI Dennis,
    Try deleting this file.
    com.apple.driver.AppleHIDMouse.plist
    ~/Library/Preferences.
Move that file to the Trash... see if that makes a difference.
Also, sometimes deleting the mouse from the System Preferrences/Bluetooth devices window then re-"pairing" the mouse helps.

  • Delayed scrolling with a scrollbar

I am trying to create a scrollbar where the view will not move until the mouse button is released. In other words, the user can move the scrollbar up and down, but nothing happens to the view until the mouse button is released and then the view is updated based on the scrollbar.
I'm trying to use this for a table that retrieves cache blocks of data as needed. When the table model's getValueAt method is called, it checks if the value is cached. If it is not cached it retrieves the data across a network. I'm using lots of data and do not want to retrieve all the data at once (takes too long). If I use the regular scrollbar, the scrolling lags because of the time it takes to get the data for each small movement of the scrollbar.
I'm not really sure where to start on this. I'm just looking for ideas on how to do this and any suggestions on better methods. Thanks in advance.

    I found it here http://www.plcs.net/downloads/index.php?action=view&filename=fly_wheel.zip&directory=Allen_Bradley&P...
There's a text file within the zip that contains the registration information. (This app was made free before it was abandoned)

  • My 4th generation iPod touch has jerky/choppy/jittery scrolling on pretty much any app and text...

As a recent buyer of an apple product I have to say that I am EXTREMELY dissapointed with the company...
How ironic is this. my phone service has ended just a couple days ago and a screen issue rises.
Let me tell you: I take the utmost care for my iPod and just recently the scrolling on it has been very jerky and inaccurate.
Needless to say, Apple has dissapointed me, with this $250 product.

If you choose to have Apple replace the iPod for you, see this paeg.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/
Otherwise, you can also send it to a third party repair company who can actually replace the screen at a much lower price.  Google will be your friend on this one.

  • Image lags/choppy when scrolling to zoom

Illustrator CS 5.5 - Whenever I scroll to zoom the image resizes with considerable lag and choppyness.  The file is only 1.2 mb and vector.  I am able to move within the window with the arrow keys up and down ok but zooming is painful.  I spend too much time adjusting both ways until I get it just right.  The same image in Photoshop CS 5.5 resizes very smoothly.  I have tried OpenGL and profiles but to no avail.  Does anyone have some words of wisdom to help?  There is no way that the hardware is slow, the video drivers are the latest, Win 7 all updates, and CS5.5 is up to date as well.  Also, it works just fine on another system that is about a basic desktop using CS 4.  Smooth zooming.
System is maxed out - 24 GB RAM, Quad Xeon 3.7 processors, 2 TB 7200rpm hard drive, Nvidia Quadro 5000 2.5GB
    Thanks for any advice.

I can't imagine it would be your system seems like a pretty forceful box.
Have you tried things like trashing the settings folder or resting the preferences?
I am on a Mac pro original way behind what you hav but all functions quickly and here is whaT a 6 mb file looks like zoomed in at 400%
I thin pretty sharp nd it zooms rapidly. Open GL does noT work in Illustrator as  I know. So you have to click or drag a Marquis over an area.
But I think it should be working pretty snappy on you unit.

  • Why is my new macbook pro retina kinda choppy when scrolling safari/etc.?

why is it that the new macbook pro retina I bought doesn't seem to be scrolling as smoothly as you would think?  Scrolling in safari seems just a bit laggy.  Is this a software issue?  It does this both with the hd400 and 650m.  Hopefully this is a software issue and not the GPU strugging to drive the massive resolution of this display.  I have the 2.6ghz/ mid level config.

    Which resolution are you on?
I notice when scaled to say 1920x1200, the whole system becomes slightly more laggy, not just Safari. But I think that's because there's also a screen smoothing process just before the images gets shown onscreen otherwise everything would be chunky and jagged.
I'm on unscaled 2880x1440 retina mode and Safari is super smooth scrolling... not sure whats going on with your computer.
Do you have any junk apps or processes running in the background by any chance?
My MBPR is the baseline model with only 8GB ram, OS X 10.8.1 and Safari 6.0 8536.25.

  • Qpaeq - sound very choppy / delayed in some applications

Seems to be a thing with Valve games (SDL?) and Mumble. Works fine otherwise. Can't seem to find any information on Google about the problem.
Is pulseaudio-equalizer-gtk still around? Didn't have problems with that one.

    Hi @vdadashzadeh ,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! To get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial product. You can do this at http://h30499.www3.hp.com/hpeb/
    I hope this helps!

  • Adobe Reader choppy scrolling

    Hi Everyone,
I'm having an issue with Adobe Reader for OSX 10.8.4. Whenever I load up a PDF using Adobe Reader and being scrolling through it I notice that it scrolls extremely choppy but when I open the same PDF with preview, it works perfectly smooth. Does anyone know what's going on or know of a fix? I've tried to google search for a solution but I have yet to come accorss anything useful. Any help would be great.
    Thanks.

    Hi WiLD_Cat,
No solution I'm afraid but just to let you know I have exactly the same problem with my MBA core i5 1.7GHz with 8GB RAM which I purchased last week. Some web pages (Facebook is a good example, The Guardian as well) are really unresponsive/choppy while scrolling up/down, while others are ok. I have also noticed that typing text into web forms (such as this one) produces a noticeable lag with text appearing).
Obviously interested if you or anyone else has a solution!

  • [MBA 2013] Choppy Scrolling in Safari and Adobe Reader

    Hey guys
just got my baby from the local Apple store a few days ago.
This is my first ever Apple product and I am loving it in many ways...
except for an issue with scrolling and animations.
Despite having installed the latest drivers
I am still getting often choppy scrollings in Safari.
Normal pages like Engadget and the Apple website are smooth,
but when i go to sites like Facebook, it immediately goes choppy. That's fine.
Yet nothing beats the choppiness (is that even a word ) in Adobe Reader
I am a university student and I need to view lecture notes in PDF format frequently in class.
Scrolling these files is not an enjoyable experience especially if the notes are long,
i mean it's mainly text inside these files and very rarely do you see an image,
so I'm guessing it's not a problem with the memory nor the HD5000 graphics.
You can call it stuttering or even frequent freezing coz it's simply UNBEARABLE.
Somehow i guess it might be either :
    1. Issues with the drivers (coz I've heard that the 2012 MBAs don't have this kind of problem)
    2. Adobe Reader for Mac is simply not well-built :s
    Specs:
    2013 Macbook Air
    Core i5 Haswell 1.3Ghz
    4GB Ram
    128GB SSD
    Anyone got solutions?
    Thanks in advance

  • Firefox very choppy (especially when watching twitch)

Firefox has been lagging for me for awhile, I cant really remember when it started. It gets much worse when I have youtube videos/twitch.tv/many other video streaming sites, as well as when I open a lot of tabs. None of this seems to be a problem in chrome (I really would prefer to stay with firefox).
Also, when im watching twitch/youtube it seems to lag much much less when I have it in fullscreen (this is nice, though I dont always want fullscreen, as I like having it run off to the side where I can be doing other things at the same time). It's also very choppy when switching applications.
When i open a new tab, generally the little circle blue loading thing at the top is visibly lagging. The page takes forever to open (to the new tab page, i have it set to about:newtab or whatever it is). Then the typing is delayed and choppy. Scrolling is choppy as well. I've seen many support threads about this, but none of the posted solutions have worked. Here is what i've tried so far:
    - Disabling hardware acceleration (both in firefox, and adobe flash settings).
    - Clean install
    - Deleting profiles in %appdata%/mozilla/firefox
    - Enabling HTML5 in youtube
    - Setting process priority in task manager
    - Setting affinity in task manager (removing core 1)
    - (tried both of the above with both firefox and flashplayerplugin)
    - Restarting my computer
    - Disabling extensions (i only have 3 of them, tried disabling all of them)
    - Running the same stuff in a different browser (this did work fine in chrome)
I have also monitored my cpu usage and RAM usage in task manager, and it's generally around 50% CPU and 65% RAM (I am running a lot of other stuff at the same time, and yes, i was running this stuff when i tried chrome).
    I have 16 GB RAM
    quad core 3.8 AMD processor
    256 GB SSD
    1 TB HDD
    NVIDIA 550 Ti boost graphics
I would really like to fix this, as I love firefox, and hate lag. Thanks for any help you can provide!

  • Ipad 3 choppy performance

I purchased an ipad 3 and have previously owned an iPad 2.  I know the hardware improvements is to only handle the better display.
But what I am noticing is that the performance of the iPad 3 is noticably more choppy than my old iPad 2.  www.yahoo.com for example is choppy when scrolling the main headline page.  And in other areas like web browsing and the app store, and sometimes even just scrolling the through the icons.  It is like it lags when it's loading graphics into memory and then once it's cached then it runs more smoothly.
I will have to take a trip to Best Buy to see if this is normal, but I wanted to ask here as well.  I'm just curious if this is normal.

I too have this issue. I had an iPad 2, then got the new iPad. I called support shortly after I bought it and the tech I spoke with said I had my thumb too close to the edge and that's what made it choppy. Do they think we are stupid? It happens on any site that is connected to the Internet and please don't tell me I have a poor signal- I don't and it happens any place I'm at. Here's what happens: I open up Safari, Facebook, twitter, chrome, email,iTunes, etc. I scroll down the page. The page is jerky/choppy as I scroll down then it jumps back up to the top. I try to scroll down again, it jumps back up. This happens until finally it seems to be loaded. Then it works ok until I change apps. I sadly upgraded to iOS 6 but it was choppy before I upgraded. When I first started researching this issue, I found others who mentioned this issue. Several people responded that their iPads scrolled perfectly and that they would notice if it wasn't smooth.
The choppiness reminds me of my crossover to the droid. I had had an iPhone and never paid attention to the scrolling until I got the Droid. It was choppy like my iPad 3. Returned to the iPhone and all was well until the iPad 3. After writing this I have decided I am going to call apple support again and be more insistent that this is not normal.
    Good luck, altered82000.

  • Safari 6.1 slow behavior/scrolling on some webpages (15" rMBP with OSX 10.7.5)

    Hi,
I have the above setup, and after updating Safari to version 6.1, I began experiencing very choppy/laggy scrolling on most websites, as well as some other slow behaviors (tabs do not open/close immediately, some website functions are slow to react). I tried disabling my extensions and changing the smooth scrolling setting in sys pref, to no avail. Something very curious that I noticed was that if there is an embedded Youtube video on a site that normally has this issue, like a forum, everything becomes very fast and smooth, but only on the page with the video. Youtube is also one of the sites that is not giving me trouble.
