Choppy video on iDVD for "time lapse" scenes

After finishing a video in Final Cut Express and exporting it as a self-contained Quicktime movie, I created a project in iDVD and proceeded to burn my exported video.  There are a few scenes in my Final Cut project where I sped up the footage.  When I review the exported Quicktime video, all is fine, but when I review the newly burned DVD, those sped up scenes are now choppy and crappy.  The rest of the footage is fine.  I've tried burning a few different times at lower burn speeds, but that doesn't seem to help.  Any ideas??? Thank you..

What encoding method are you using?  If you haven't used Professional give it a try.  It's a two pass process the first pass determining which parts of a video can be compressed most and which require the minimal amount of compressions.  The second pass does the encoding.
Follow this workflow to help ensure the best quality final product:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

No. You should have bought Lightroom.

Using Lightroom 5, what are the best export settings for pics to be imported into After Effects in order to make a Time Lapse video?

    Hi(Bonjour)
Export with quicktime conversion to a movie encoded in animation codec for video aiff 16 bit 48khz to get better result. You'll get a pretty large uncompressed movie file.

  • Quicktime movie rendering for time lapse does not work in CS4

    Hey guys,
I m trying to render a time lapse video on PS CS4 and the process works well up until the export window. When i go there the first option under file options, quick time export, is unavailable( grayed out). The only available option is Image sequence. What do i have to do to enable the quicktime movie creation or any other movie format for that matter? Thank you.

    Welcome to the forum.
For PS CS4, I assume that you have PS-Extended. Is that correct?
    What OS/platform?
Do you have Apple's QT installed on that computer? If so, what version?

  • New laptop workstation for time lapse editing

    Hello all,
I'm in the process of buying a new custom laptop, and I seek your inputs regarding the specs,
The laptop will be based on the Clevo P370EM chassis, a pretty robust machine.
17.3" Full HD (1920x1080) Glossy 90% NTSC Color Gamut LED Backlit LCD, since I will be on-the-move most of the time
Plus I want a recommendation for a stationary, Full color scale display for stationary usage. And I plan to calibrate all this using the Spyder4 tool.
    Intel Core i7-3840QM 2.8GHz, 8M L3 Cache, 22nm, DDR3-1600MHz, Quad-Core Mobile Processor
    32GB (4 x 8GB) , PC3-12800, 1600MHz SODIMM
NVIDIA 680M 4096MB GDDR5 DX11 Compliant Video Card, I was flirting with the idea of getting the Quadro K5000M, but after a little research decided to go with the GTX. And CS6 does not support SLi so that's a pass too. Yet, still open for inputs.
Crucial m4 128GB mSATA Solid State Drive
Intel 240GB 520 Series SATA III 6Gb/s Solid State Drive Sandforce Powered, I read somewhere that Sandforce drivers are bad, any clarification on this one? This hard drive will be the primary one, for the OS and Software. Not a Brand-dedicated user, but I want something that lasts, I'm not looking for something that fails every now n then.
750GB 7200 16MB Cache SATA Notebook Hard Drive, this will be a secondary hard drive for general files and probably small projects. I tend to save each project on its own hard drive, so I guess 750 will be enough for my own entertainment.
The machine will be running windows 8 ultimate/7 ultimate, 64-bit.
This is my build so far, I'm still open for any suggestions.
My main usage is lightroom since I'm a photographer, but due to my inclination to time-lapses I will definitely use photoshop for batch processing about a 1000 hi-res photographs, then export to Premier to stitch it up, and probably will end up in After-Effect for Simple 3D work.
Thanks for reading and passing by,
    Hazaa3 =)

Keep in mind the firmware on each of the SSD drives whether they have Sandforce or Marvell controllers are manufacturer, Model, and version specific. That means many of the Garbage collection/trim instructions may be far better on one SSD drive than another with the a controller from the same manufacturer. We have yet to see any performance degradation on the Intel drives like we have other SF drives. However we have seen several Marvell controller drives with issues or far less performance.

  • Plug-In for Time-Lapse for Lightroom 5

I'm doing a time-lapse in Lightroom 5 and understand all the steps expect the one towards the end which deals with the Template Browser.  From my understanding in order to export my time-lapse video as a video I will need to downlaod a free plug-in.  What plug in woulf that be and can someone explain the Template Brower more as well?  Also can anyone explain the IRTimelapse sorftware and do I have to buy this on top of the Lightroom 5 as well?

The IRTimelapse software have their own website, you would be better served going there for an explanation. As it's not Adobe software you have to pay separately.

  • IMovie '11, still images as frames for time lapse problem

As strange as this may seem, I cannot find a way to change the stills I import to just be 1 frame each in iMovie '11.  That is, I have 30 still images (a time lapse) that I want to put together for a 1 second sequence (i.e. 30 frames per second).  The slowest I can seem to get is down to is 1 frame per second which gives me a total time of 30 seconds, which makes it useless.
Are still images able to be set to 1 image per frame? Am I missing something?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
    -Matt

You can do this in iMovie but it is quite cumbersome.
Long-time contributor Jon Walker created this Video Tutorial to show how to do this.
The Tutorial is for iMovie 08, but I verified that it still works for iMovie 11.
There are better tools for Stop Motion, including iStopMotion and QuickTime Pro. After doing it in iMovie, you may see why.

  • Bug with Image Sequence ( not loading/using all files ) for time lapse creation

    Hello everybody!
    PhotoShop CC 2014
I am looking to create a time lapse out of 240 still photos that I took with my DSLR, but I am facing what probably is a bug, or a mistake on my part.
I have all the photos in JPEG format with proper naming & sequential numbers ( DSC001 to DSC240 ).
I'm creating a new document, selecting Film & Video, then by using the Layer -> Video Layers -> New Video Layer from file... and selecting the first image of the sequence I load the photos.
Since the output is 1080p, and my photos are captured at 24MP, I convert them to a Smart Object as requested by photoshop when trying to resize them to fit them in the 1080p resolution.
I then set the time lapse frame rate to 24fps and when I proceed to Render the video, in the Render Video dialogue, the frames to be used in the "Range" section are less than the frames that I've got.
Instead of 240, it shows 219.
I have the "Allow Frame Skipping" option unchecked of course
    Your help is really appreciated!

  • Choppy Video and Long Rendering Time

Just using iMovie for the first time since loading iLife 09. Two main problems:
    1. Video is very choppy. Using the same camera as before loading new iLife and never had the problem before. Noted a solution posted elswhere - "Clip adjustments, click on 'convert entire clip', give it a minute to convert, click 'done'" - only I don't have a "convert entire clip" option. I can do something with stabilizing but it takes 10 minutes to process a 30-second clip.
    2. Speaking of things taking a long time, I just started to share a project to iDVD - it appears it will take about 90 minutes to process a 5-minute project with a few transitions. Why is this? Not enough RAM/GHZ? It can't be the project because it's very small with very few transitions.
This is almost not worth it. Any advice on either issue? Thanks.

    Hi
First have you set the Quicktime streaming setting, goto sys prefs/quicktime/streaming/streaming speed, set to 1.5mbps(if a comcast user use 500)
In ichats prefs click on video and change bandwidth limit to NONE.
    Restart iChat.

It's probable that you did purchase them, even if inadvertently, or they wouldn't have downloaded. All purchases are final: you may possibly be able to get a refund at the Store staff's discretion, but they aren't under any obligation to do this.
Go to https://expresslane.apple.com ; select 'iTunes' in the first column and then 'iTunes Store' in the second column. In the third column click 'Purchases, Billing & Redemption' and proceed from there.

  • The Comparing RAW with TS Time Lapse Recording file for MSI PANOCAM

I am a big fan of MSI, I have been using its motherboard, MP3 and NB. MSI introduces a new IOT product in 2015, MSI PANOCAM, I feel excited about it, therefore I wanna share some experience of MSI PANOCAM here.
Have you heard Time-Lapse, it is very popular skill for movie and advertisement. it looks very interesting because Time-Lapse shows interval recording fast forwarded.  It has been widely used in various industry, such as observation of flower growth; building construction and natural scene change.
The Comparing Analysis of RAW and TS file for Time Lapse
How to manage time lapse recording file is critical problem in the marketplace many end-users encountered. Generally speaking, there are two categories file have been used as Time Lapse recording, one is RAW file and another one is TS file.
The advantage of RAW would be better video retouched, such as more flexibility of colorful balance, color temperature adjustment and less Zoom in/out distortion. Especially, RAW is quite suitable for weak light resource environment and low speed camera shutter. Therefore, the requirement capacity of RAW file is larger than TS.
As beginner, be familiar with TS is suggested here, you can not perform as high quality as professional RAW quality until you learn proper shooting skill. Practicing shooting skill is necessary and should be prior than video retouching.
Left part is shooting by TS and ambiguous scene can be seen; Right part is RAW which demonstrates more detail scene

To change the amount of time you want each frame to display, you can do one of 2 things:
-Change the frame rate of the Image Sequence in the Media settings (select the layer and typ Shift F). If the frame rate is less than the project frame rate, your clip will play more slowly.  If the frame rate is greater than the project frame rate, it will play more quickly.
-Change the Speed in the Timing section (Inspector->Properties->Timing).  This is the method I think most people use.
To blend the frames, change the Frame blending option, also in the Timing section of the properties.

  • How do I convert time lapse still images into a video in Premire Elements 13?

I have 250 images taken at 15 second intervals that I want to convert to a video. I am not having any luck finding how to get elements to put the single pictures together. After I import the images I can play them but have not been able to shorten the time each still plays. So It is like a slide shot and not time lapse.

  • Editing clip times for bulk clips (time lapse content)

sorry if this has been asked tons of times, i searched but found no answer.
i'm doing a time lapse video, and have about 500 images uploaded so far. is there any way, after dragging the images down to the timeline, to edit them all at once? i've been doing each one by one, and it's a pain in the *ss.
    any help is much appreciated!

    G'day davidson,
The main reason I posed that question was that the folks that know way more than I do would've probably asked that question first. They may know of a better way of actually applying a single edit across multiple clips but I did find a way that may suit your purpose. With all clips in the clips pane go to Edit>Select All then drag to the timeline or clip viewer whilst maintaining Select All (i.e. all clips highlighted in blue). Go to Video FX in Editing and select Fast/Slow/Reverse and drag the slider toward Faster until you get the desired effect in the Preview and click Apply. I only did a short test over a few clips and it seemed to work and of course I wasn't able to set the clip duration but the slider would probably work fine for time-lapse effect. Obviously it was important to keep all the clips as Selected.

  • Has anyone created a time-lapse video with Final Cut Pro X?

I've taken a series of 2,631 I'd like to create a time-lapse video from. The process has been excruciating so far. I'm getting tons of spinning beachballs. I'm running Lion, 10.7.1.
Before I do any more hair pulling, has someone else out there successfully used FCP X for creating time-lapse videos? Any tips you can offer?

I love using FCPX for time lapse movies, here is an example:
    http://vimeo.com/27460065
    My workflow is as follows:
    1. I import the photos to QT player 7 as an image sequence
    2. I save the resulting movie in QT7 in Prores HQ, keeping the original movie size (eg. 3500x1940)
    3. I import the movie to a 1920x1080 project in FCPX.
    4.  I can now easily create pans and zoom ins without losing quality.
    I hope this helps.
