Email not opening on my iPad2 This is a sudden thing, email had been working fine since purchasing the device then today would not stay open,  now it will not open at all. After trying to open mail I receive a white screen for a nano second and the app closes.

Have you tried closing the Mail app completely ? From the home screen (i.e. not with Mail 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • On my MacBook with Lion Safari does start, does not react immediately after trying to open it. Installing a new Safari does not help. Removing parts of Safari in the Library did not help. Where can I find and remove all components (LastSession ...)?

How can I reset Safari with all components? On my MacBook with Lion, Safari does not start, does not react immediately after trying to open it. Installing a new Safari does not help. Removing parts of Safari in the Library does not help. Where can I find and remove all components as LastSession and TopSites?

The only way to reinstall Safari on a Mac running v10.7 Lion is to restore OS X using OS X Recovery
Instead of restoring OS X in order to reinstall Safari, try troubleshooting extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect:  Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.
If it's not an extension or plug-in issue, delete the cache.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

  • Firefox stops loading pages after trying to open a heavy page

firefox stops loading pages after trying to open a page with alot of pictures etc, with big size. it just keeps on loading pages with no result.
my internet is fairly low speed so i take my time but this happened each time i tried to open such sites.
even when i close that '''tab''' and try to open just '''google.com''' , it wont load.
its solved after closing and opening firefox again . but happens again if i try to open the same heavy site

Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?
A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

  • IDVD won't open after trying to open a project that had missing links

I hope I can explain this correctly.
I created a DVD using iDVD last week, it had many short movies on it in different menus plus some photos in the menu areas. After I created the DVD & burned it, I moved the videos (plus a ton of other clips from the same year) to an external HD, as they were taking up tons of space on my hard drive.
Today I opened iDVD hoping to create a 2nd DVD project for a different year of clips. I had started to set up this DVD a few days back & saved it. When I clicked "open existing project", I found the projects but mistakenly clicked on the one that I had already burned. It acknowledged that it couldn't find the videos (since they're on an external HD that was not hooked up) and showed them all as broken links. Fine.
I tried to open the correct project, at which point iDVD froze & I had to force quit.
Since then, every time I try to open iDVD from Applications, I get a window asking where to look for the photos from the original one I opened, not the usual "create new project/open existing project" window. If I hit cancel in this window, everything disappears but the iDVD icon remains in the dock, but I can't open anything or do anything with it & have to force quit. If I try to do "find file", it just starts to search. Either way the whole program freezes up & I can't do anything with it.
Also, the iDVD menu will be at the top of the screen during this but I can't click to open anything else.  As soon as I click elsewhere on the screen, the iDVD menu disappears, the icon is still on the dock, it won't do anything again & I have to force quit yet again(and get a message that iDVD quit while unresponsive).
I'm going to try shutting down & restarting but anyone know anything about this?
    Thanks.

    Try the following:
1 - delete the iDVD preference file, com.apple.iDVD.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iDVD/s cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iDVD folder.
3 - launch iDVD and try again.

  • Crashes after trying to open file!?

I'm trying to open files in Elements 11. Finder quickly flashes up then disappears. After that, all the menu options are greyed out (including "QUIT"). I then need to Force Quit. Can't get any further!
    Help please!

Are you using OS X Mavericks? If so, you need to get your finder windows and the PSE Open window out of cover flow view. Switch to List or icon view instead.

I have seen potential solutions at the following links, suggesting potential invalid reserved characters (such as &) in the mappings previous uploaded. We will look at trying to remove these rows via a SQL script, however we do not have any visibility at this stage and will require assistance from the DBA's.
Error @ Deleting the existing FDM Account mappings.
    FDQM Mapping error
Can anyone please suggest which tables we need to be looking at/guiding the DBA's too? Or even better, can anyone please provide a script? Or could this be a red herring, since the FDM login page is not even loading?

Thanks for your response. Yes the exact same solution has worked for us too. FDM crashed last night, which was apparently caused by the flash recovery drive becoming full. This caused the Oracle RDBMS to freeze. After this was re-sized, we then had to restart the Hyperion services this morning. Everything then appeared to be fine, until the above errors occurred. A full reboot has since resolved the FDM issue, but we suspect an IIS restart might have been the answer.
If the same issue occurs again I will update this thread with more info!

  • InDesign CS3 program will not open - Win XP - after trying to open corrupt file.

Help! the program Adobe InDesign will not open up anymore.
Here is the story and what I have tried. One week on the 16th my server crashed two of the three hard drives failed (RAID) I had the two replaced. Since then all seamed to be ok but few of files were missing and some that I tried to open would crash InDesign I assume that the files got corrupt from the HD's going bad. Server kept telling me to run CHKDSK utility. I ran it and and some of the files reappeared. Today, thinking that the Chkdsk utility had fixed the bad files I tried to open one of the files that caused InDesign to crash and it crashed again.
Now I cannot open InDesign at all when I try to launch InDesign within 3-4 seconds Adobe will crash!  Reboot and try again same thing.
I tried to delete the files in the Recovery folder thinking it was trying to open the corrupted file that it last tried to open. Same thing.
I moved the preference folder to the desk top thinking that it might have been causing the problem - no change.
I reinstalled InDesign over top of the existing program (did not uninstall first) rebooted and tried to launch - no change.
I tried system restore, None of my restore points that I have tried (auto restore points) will restore my system for what ever reason.
Please Help with any suggestions I need this fixed soon.

Installing CS3 was a pain, and the installer is very sensitive to conflict with just about everything under the sun, so you need to run it in a bare-bones boot (but not safe mode). I turn off ALL non essential programs and services using MSConfig when doing a CS3 install.
That said, yes, running the CS3 clean script will probably remove all things Adobe from the system. The Microsoft utility is much more benign than the description makes it sound -- it removes registry information for previous installations so there is no trace of them to confuse the OS. I'm not aware that it has removed anything other than what it was told to remove, but I've only had to use it once, I think.
You can try a simple uninstall/reinstall first (and you should be able to remove and reinstall just ID from the suite if you use the original disks). That will certainly be faster and less painful than the clean script, but may not work. Seems odd that a serrver crash should have corrupted a local installation, though, so you might want to take a close look at the machine for other problems, perhaps some sort of malware invasion.

  • Won't open after trying to open HTML file

Hi, I had an .html file and by mistake I tried to open it with iWeb. Now, when I try to open iWeb I get an error message:
*Can’t open file “~/Desktop/websites/TRC/book40off.html.”* OK BUTTON
When you click the OK, then nothing happens. It doesn't open at all. I restarted my imac i5 27" (10.6.4) and it's doing the same thing. I really need to open iWeb, so what should I do???
I never had a problem like this where you TRY to open a file and then the application goes nuts.

    ###### UPDATE ######
I took the CD that came with my iMac "iMac Applications Install DVD" and installed the iWeb package over. It did the install, restarted the computer and when I look in the Application folder I can see the date on iWeb is TODAY. But, when I click to open it I get the SAME error message!!!! How can that be when I installed it over again?

  • MacBook A1181 got dreaded spinning Progress Indicator after trying to open software upgrades

I just bought a used (2009) MacBook A1181 and cranked it up. It worked perfectly using OS 10.5.8, which was the only thing on the drive. I checked on software upgrades and got the message there were five that needed upgrading (iTunes, OS, etc.). I downloaded, then rebooted to load them. That’s where the problem began. The apple appeared, along with the swirling progress indicator. Unfortunately, the progress indicator has continued to go round and round for hours. I have inserted a Snow Leopard install disk and tried to open that but got the message that the machine won’t accept a Mac OS. I’ve managed to get into Disk Utility and it ran a verification that said the hard drive was OK. Tried resetting the PRAM, safe open, etc. Still spinning and still the OS 10.6.8 disk won’t recognize the HD. Now what? Simplest thing may be to erase the whole disk in Disk Utilities and start over. Right?

Thanks again BDAqua, and sorry for the long delay between reponses. The computer's been out of sight and out of mind for me the past few weeks, but my wife reminded meabiut it this morning.
So I tried the repair disk function within disk utility on the install disc, and everything seemed to be ok. I got a message in green that says "the volume Jeffs OW Mac appears to be ok." And then "Volume repair complete." I also noticed that the capicity of the drive appeared to be 119.69 GB and the available space 119.61 GB, which I guess meant the drive was completely empty but working.
So I tried once again to restore from my time machine backup, and wonder of all wonders, it worked this time! Two hours of restoration later, I'm writing to you now from the restored computer, and my wife is thrilled (and thinks I'm a genius!). So thank you thank you thank you for taking the time to walk me through the steps! I really appreciate it!
But now we're afraid to try again to upgrade to Snow Leopard. Do you think there's any reason trying again would throw the computer into another state of confusion, flux, and ultimately disaster, or should I just give it a shot? It's a 2009 Macbook Pro 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, with 2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, running OS X 10.5.8. Perhaps it just can't handle the new software?
All the best, and thanks so much again!

  • Application not responding after trying to open event

    Hi,
I just updated to Final Cut 10.1.3
I was working on a project in final cut and my computer crashed. When I restarted my computer and Final Cut, it seemed ok. It opens on the project I was working on before the one I was working on when it crashed. When I go to scroll up in the event, towards where the most recent projects are, eventually I get the spinning rainbow of death and then final cut stops responding. I have forced quit and restarted it but the same thing keeps happening. When I open other earlier projects in the same event, they seem to open and work fine.
I tried 'Update Projects and Events' but when I click 'update all' it says that it can't find anything to update.
    Please help!
    Thanks,
    Cat

    I am having the same problem;
I am working on a project in FCP 10.1.4 and every now and then, usually after making an edit, FCP starts to reload projects and then hangs when trying to load one of them (not always the same one).
I have to force quit, restart deleting preferences, then after a while it happens again.
In the Activity Monitor there are two precesses not responding - LaunchDaemon and  Codec32BitTool.

  • After downloading ITunes 7.02, my ITunes freezes up after trying to open...

I recently downloaded ITunes 7.02. I tried opening the program after the upgrade, and it freezes on me. It happens right after I accept the licensing agreement. I get a message about my library being updated, and then it just freezes on me. I've tried several times to remove ITunes and all it's components, including QuickTime, and reinstalling it, but it has helped.

Yeah, sometimes when you start intalling and uninstalling a bunch of times, it makes a mess of files everywhere. First, try using the Windows Install Clean Up Utility (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/).
I'm thinking of a few possibilities going on here. Unfortunately, I have not been on the boards much lately and am not familiar with most recent iTunes problems. First, try turning Off your Antivirus and Firewall software to rule out them quietly blocking the successful install of iTunes, thinking its some sort of malicious program. Try the install, and see what happens. Also, try going in and opening up Quicktime to see if it will open. Tell me what happens and any error messages you get. Meanwhile, I will poke around the Apple articles.

  • Blank Adobe Pop-Up after trying to open a web-based .pdf?

When I try to open an adobe file through IE8, a blank pop-up from Adobe shows up.  I'm not sure what it means, and the .pdf doesn't open after that pop-up.  What is this?
I've attached a screen shot of what I am seeing.  The blank box in the background should be the pdf & the example of the Adobe pop-up is in the foreground.
    Thanks!

    Hi
It happens with almost all .pdfs that are web-based.  For instance, it will not open this file: http://h20195.www2.hp.com/v2/GetDocument.aspx?docname=4AA3-7370ENW (hp.com fact sheet).
Any files that I have saved to my PC do not have this issue.

  • Do I need to run anti-viral program after trying to open a spam attachment?

I was tricked by a spam email and clicked on a link, which did not open.  I've been advised to delete the email (done), change my password (done), and run anti-viral program (not done, and never have).  What, if anything, should I do?

You don't need to run antivirus software after that. Just be more careful in the future.
