Chroma Key/Luma Key Visualizer Help!

Hey everyone,
I'm new to this video production ind of thing, and I was trying to use chroma key and luma key like people in tutorials on youtube do all the time, and all they do is drag and drop the effect onto their video in the timeline, and a new tab with a visualizer pops up. But, when I do this absolutely nothing happens, it just stays the same. If anybody could help, that would be great!

Hi and welcome to the forum!
Make sure the clip you want to affect is loaded into the Viewer (double-click it). You should see the effect you applied in the Filters tab - some filters, like the Chroma Key, also have a visual component you can open.

Problem with Chroma/Lume Keys while using Drop Shadows

I have been using the box now for almost two years and I still am getting problems with green/blue/purples artifacts showing up after a chroma/luma key has been applied with a drop shadow. The artifacts do not show up under a preview but only when the sequence has been rendered. As soon as I take the drop shadow off, the artifacts go away. This is happening with both still graphics with or without Alphas and green/blue screen video. Please help, am I just missing something or is there a work around that I could be using.

Oh, Patrick, buddy, I am so totally torqued out of shape today. Don't get me started. Too late. FCP's insane render handler is dropping my files, seemingly at random. The nests, Motion and LiveType material are not rendering in the correct order which makes the effects all wonky.
I add drop shadows in the last stage and FCP just ain't holding it together. I get glitches. And then I keep getting these Media Offline notices because FCP cant' track the render files that are actually in use in the upstream nests.
I'll certainly admit a likely a user error. I just don't know what it could be. I've somehow told FCP to destroy its children.

Follow up to my Luma Key problem

Tom has answered to my Luma Key problem of bad quality by recomending me to put the oval form under my clip instead from above, and it worked verz well.
But now I have another problem, I want now my oval to cross disolve to have the full scene that is now under to come gradually fully on screen. I have a cross disolve at the begining and at the end of the oval. Its fine for the oval to come gradually from full black screen to an oval with behind the 2nd scene, but when it shall starts to disolve, nothing happens. I also try with the pen, adding points and then pulling down in order to have the oval clip gradually dissolving, but nothing works ! Any clue ?

One way to do this is:
- Oval on V1
- Clip1 on V2 with Composite Mode > Travel Matte Luma
- Clip1 also on V3. Change it's opacity so it is 0 until the required number of frames before the end of the Oval. Then increase it's opacity to 100 at the end of the Oval.
There might be a more efficient way to do this.

Adjusting the date or time didn't do anything for me either. I'm guessing my two options are to either do the full restore from scratch and not apply any backup ... Or possibly wait for an iOS update that might resolve this issue.
I'm not that much of an avid twitter user that I need it implemented natively in all my devices - so for now I'll probably value all my game save data, internal settings in apps e.t.c. over that functionality (or over the amount of work it would be to get me back to where I am now after a full wipe). I'll see what happens after the next iOS delta update. I'll reevaluate the full wipe after that if the issue hasn't been resolved

Enter and shift keys not working. HELP!!!

A few days ago my mouse started behaving erratically all of a sudden. It would move by itself, click apps, and switch tabs rapidly all on its own. I've had this computer for over 2 years and this has never happened before. Restarting and rebooting into safe mode didn't work, but one user suggested a PRAM reset and that fixed the mouse problem. However, my enter and shift key on the right side do not work now (this is much less annoying than the mouse problem, but still very inconvenient!). Restarting the computer and doing another PRAM reset doesn't work unfortunately. I also used the keyboard viewer to confirm that all but those two keys work. I don't think the issue is with keyboard lint because both keys worked fine before I tried the reset. Booting up in safe mode also doesn't fix the problem. It would be great if I could find a way to fix this here since I won't be able to go to an Apple genius bar until December!

The troubleshooting detailed below may help restore functionality to your MacBook Pro's keyboard.
Some keys don't work as expected
From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
From the View menu, choose Speech.
Click the Text to Speech tab.
If "Speak selected text when the key is pressed" is enabled, the key or key combination set to speak text cannot be used for other purposes or used to type text--click Set Key and change it to a less-commonly used key combination (try to use modifier keys such as Shift, Command, Option, and Control). Or, disable the "Speak selected text when the key is pressed" option.
Click the Accessibilty or Universal Access pane in System Preferences, then click the Keyboard tab.
Make sure that Slow Keys is turned off. With Slow Keys on, you need to press a key for a longer period of time for it to be recognized.
In the Accessibilty or Universal Access pane, click the Mouse tab, and make sure Mouse Keys is turned off. With Mouse Keys enabled, you cannot use the Numeric Keypad to enter numbers--instead the keypad moves the pointer (cursor). (There is an option to enable Mouse Keys with five presses of the Option key; you may want to turn that option off to avoid accidentally enabling it.) If Mouse Keys is enabled and you are using a keyboard with no numeric keypad or Num Lock function, see Unable to type while Mouse Keys is enabled in Mac OS X.
If the function keys on the top row of the keyboard are not working as expected, see Mac OS X: How to change the behavior of function keys.
If the issue persists, use Keyboard Viewer to help isolate the issue:Start from the Mac OS X Install Disc, choose Terminal from the Utilities menu and test the keys which were previously not working. If the keys work while started from the Install disc, then the keyboard itself is working correctly. Use How to troubleshoot a software issue to isolate the software issue that may be causing the keys to not respond.
Click the Language & Text pane (Mac OS X v10.6) or International pane (Mac OS X v10.5.8 or earlier) in System Preferences.
Click the Input Sources tab (or Input Menu tab in Mac OS X 10.5.8 or earlier).
Click the Keyboard & Character Viewer "On" checkbox to select it (click the Keyboard Viewer "On" checkbox in Mac OS X 10.5.8 or earlier).
From the Input (flag) menu, choose Show Keyboard Viewer.
If the keyboard is connected and detected by OS X, the keys you type will highlight in the Keyboard Viewer window. Open TextEdit (or any text application), and try to type something using the keys that were previously not responding to see if they highlight in Keyboard Viewer.

How to set luma key in FCX 10.1.2? Luma key adjustments do not open when selecting the Effects button on the toolbar.

Using FCPX 10.1.2 and trying to adjust a luma key, when selecting the Effects button on the Toolbar, the adjustments do not appear. Any suggestions?

TThe effects controls should be in the inspector. Select the clip in the timeline and post a screen shot of the video inspector.

Right click (cntl-click) on the top of the bar and select "customize toolbar". Drag the default set back in.

Hi Robbie,
The editor program is NOT under the organizer path as you mentioned in your last message. The actual editor program is at the location I gave in message #1 i.e. as follows
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 12\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe"
The one under the organizer is actually the Welcome screen which you have probably set up to go directly to the editor.
If you go to the Open With screen I showed in message #3 and browse to the actual editor as given above, it should show up in your list.
If it doesn't, then Windows is playing up again - and we have to take extra steps.

Luma Keying - Who's got a good starting point?

So I've set up a video clip with a matte, and dragged in another layer into the matte well, and set it to luminance. I have added several filters to my matte source layer to create a high contrast image. It's working ok, but I was wondering if anybody out there has some filters and settings, they liked to share, that they use to start off with when doing this kind of procedure.
On the matte source clip I have a Levels (to create contrast), a Colorize (to set all to b/w), a Channel Blur (to soften the edges and fill whole in the matte) and then on the Layer that contains my matte source I have another Levels to clean the matte even more.
I started out trying the luma key on the clip I want to key but it wasn't much use on it's own.

Well Ok I'll give the Luma Keyer another look. It just didn't seam to have much i don't know range (maybe). It seemed as if it bit to much out of the image I wanted in or left to much of the white I wanted out. I'll look again.

I was asking about Luma Keying first but also thru-in the key in general for future info. First look at Primatte RT didn't thrill. I've gotten use to Keylight so it will take a little fiddling to get use to some other keyer.

IE7: How to block F1 key to show windows help in java applet?

help, IE6 works correct, but IE7 shows windows help also besides
applicaiton help.
By the way, when applet got the focus, the windows help do not popped up
when press F1 key. Who can help me?

In my testing, I found out that this works in IE7:

But if you call a function that returns false, then it doesn't work, i.e., the following doesn't work:
function donothing() {

In the applet codes, this seems to be a problem only when the dialog owner is IExplorerEmbeddedFrame. When I set the owner to null, then pressing F1 no longer pops up IE help window.
