Chroma Key not rendering

My foreground is on V2 - it is a graphic on a green background I created in Photoshop.
My background is on V1 - footage.
I wish to key V2 over V3 and have used Chroma Key filter. Everything looks fine until I hit Render.
At that point everything inverts and it is like I am keying the green screen over the footage instead of the graphic.
Weird, as I can play the timeline and everything is fine - graphic keys over background no problem It is only when I hit Render I have a problem

I asked because there is no V1 and V2 nor Chroma Keyer nor even filters for that matter in FCPX.
I don't understand what V3 is doing on top of the Photoshop file? If you have photoshop it would be much better to knock out the transparency there and bring in the file with transparency and overlay it in the timeline.

  • Chroma Key and Rendering

I've having issues with the video quality once I apply a chroma key filter and render the video. We film everything on a black background, but we still have to key some of it out to make it look smooth. Once I do this, the video loses quality and becomes slightly blurred. I then have to render, and the audio and video no longer match. The audio is just slightly ahead of the video. I'm kind of new to FCE and completely self-taught, so I'm guessing this issue is simply a setting I need to adjust. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm tired of all my videos looking blurry and unaligned with the audio.

    For sequence properties,
    Compressor:DV/DVCPRO-NTSC
    Frame Size:720x480
    Vid Rate:29.97 fcs
    Audio Rate:48.0 KHz
    Format:32 bit floating point
    For the clip,
    Compressor:DV/DVCPRO-NTSC
    Frame Size:720x480
    Vid Rate:29.97 fps
    Audio Rate:48.0 KHz
    Format:16 bit Integer
I do add audio files for background music. They are generally a wav format and the audio rate for them is 44.1 while the format changes depending on the piece. Thanks and hopefully this was the info you were looking for.

  • Vertical lines showing up after rendering chroma key on Canon 60D footage...

Ok so I am working with Final Cut Pro 7 right now and this is my first green screen attempt.
    1) I shot the footage with my Canon 60D and did a log and transfer so I could make the H.264 files into Apple Pro Res 422, the correct method.
    2) I then applied Color Smoother 4:2:2 , then Blue and Green Screen and selected green, then Spill Supressor, then Matte Choker, then Mask Feather.   After tweaking the parameters throughout the filters I came out with a perfect image.
    3) I then tried placing another ProRes video underneathe of the clip so that the video would show in place of the green.  It worked and looked great.
    HOWEVER
    4) Upon rendering and playing back through the final image I noticed vertical lines running down the 60D footage.  At first I thought it was the image underneath coming through, but even after removing the image and simply using chroma key until the green turned to black and rendering again, the lines were still present. Am I doing something wrong?
Please help, I have a deadline
    -Eric Widder

The HQ flavor of ProRes is overkill for this footage (I also have this model Canon), but that's not really important to fixing your problem.
Further to what Rv told you: I've long been advised by people who are savvy about keyers to avoid the stock FCP keyer and use the Primatte plug-in – and that's been my go-to tool. Recently, I tried the new keyer in Motion5 and was very impressed. I tested it on a project I'd been only OK about and found it made a huge  difference. If you're going to do a lot of this kind of work, check it out. For $50 the keyer alone is worth it.

  • Could I have changed a setting that is not allowing chroma key to work

Very frustrated....I know how to chroma key (the process) but the eye dropper color selector is not working at all Doing something wrong, or locked something but NO idea what would be stopping this...this is a tough one....

  • FCP Chroma Key requires re-render after any changes

    FCP: version 602A89
In an HD 1080i60 sequence - there is a clip - the Chroma Key video filter has been applied to a pretty-well-lit 'stinger-green' backdrop. By making adjustments anywhere in the Chroma Key filter visual dialog, the entire green-field returns and cannot be eliminated except by re-rendering the clip.
    See EXAMPLE IMAGES at http://www.glorioski.com/fcp/chromakey.html
I guess this could be submitted as a bug - but I am thinking there MUST be something I am not doing or have inadvertently set (or unset).
    Any ideas?
    Thanks! Lance Drake

    Hi Jerry,
Hey thanks for your response to this question - but, I do not believe that this has always been the behavior with regards what has been presented in the canvas - at least for the current frame.
It's quite reasonable that re-rendering will be needed to apply the changes to the entire clip. However, my point is that, as adjustments in the Chroma Key filter are made - the results of the previous setting of the filter are completely abandoned and the single frame displayed in the canvas reverts to the case as if the filter had never been applied.
The BIG drawback to this behavior is that you cannot see how slight changes in filter settings affect what will be the result were you to go to the trouble of re-rendering the entire clip. Having to re-render with every adjustment sticks you in a huge time-hole.
I wish I had a system with FCP 5 on it - it would be interesting to see how FCP used to behave. Am I nutzo? Somehow I don't think so. It's my recollection that it was possible to make changes to the ChromaKey filter - see the effect of those changes rendered into the single frame of the canvas - and then it was up to you to cause the rest of the clip to be re-rendered.
Unless somebody kicks in with specifics regarding the error of my ways, I am thinking this should be submitted to bugreporter.

  • Chroma key layer flickering and dropouts

Hi, I've searched this forum and the internet for assistance on an issue similar to the one I'm having and could not find anything close, so I appologize if there has been previous discussions on anything similar to this issue.
I am using Adobe Premiree Pro CS4. I have chroma key footage on my timeline with one layer of green screen footage and one layer of a static jpg. For some reason, while the timeline is playing back, the chroma key effect will begin to flicker and eventually drop out. Leaving just the original video layer with green screen background.Sometimes, just the background layer (jpg) will be visable. This effect flickers back and forth quite rapidly and eventually either the static jpg layer or the green screen footage layer will completly drop out.
If I stop playback, the stopped video will go back to normal, but once I start playback again, the issue starts again. I thought it might be a resource issue, so I restarted the coomputer and shut off as many resources I could in the task manager. Then I figured it was only a timeline playback issue and that it wouldn't show up in the final output, so I went ahead and rendered the project to an mpg file, and was disappointed when the effect showed up in the final output.
I'm running a Windows box with Win 7 Home Premium, I7 processor, 16GB RAM and an AMD Radeon HD 7800 graphics card.
Will I need to reinstall CS4?

Make sure that you check for those updates from the nVidia, or AMD/ATI Web site, and do not trust your OS, or any driver utitlity to tell whether you have the latest version.
Also, most manufactured computers use "master discs" to install the OS and all drivers. That master disc can be many months out of date. I recommend manually updating all drivers, and the OS, on a new computer.
I also remove any "bloatware," as many computer mfgrs. fill up the system with tons of useless "stuff."
    Good luck,

  • PP CS4 color key not working

I have a very basic use case. I have done a simple 1 min screen capture video showing a software product demonstration. I have set the background to cyan for easy key out.
However when importing to PP and adding a color key to cyan, Preview shows the color being removed. But after rendering the sequence out. The final video show a cyan background with no key color effect.... I have tried adjusing the options on the color key and different video output formats and options. But each time the color key does not seem to be reflected in the final render. like I siad preview window is correct, but after media encoder renders color key seems to habe been turned off.
if I switch to chroma key, it work correclty. But I should not have to, since it is a solid color. and should be very accurate to key out using color key.
And/also if I import the sequence (with color key) into AE... it render our correctly. The exact same thing. Renders inccorrectly from PP, corrrectly from AE, no changes etc..
I am assumeing there must be some setting somewhere I am not paying attention to. I do not know AE well enough to rely on that to get my work done.

    to Chris Cox:
    >"Tony - then you'll need to contact NVidia and ask them to fix the driver.."
I'll be happy to do so -- but to be effective in getting nVIDIA to accept responsibility for this problem, may I ask where you believe nVIDIA has done something which needs fixing?
    a) Is there a relevant industry standard to which you believe nVIDIA is failing to comply?
    b) Is there some specification published by nVIDIA to which you believe nVIDIA is failing to comply?
    c) Is there any documentation published by Adobe (e.g., design guidelines for graphics cards manufacturers to assist them in making Photoshop-compatible products) to which you believe nVIDIA is failing to comply?
    d) Are there specific generally-accepted good software engineering practices to which you believe nVIDIA is failing to comply?
    >"As for your display color management: we haven't seen that. That sounds a lot like your display profile is wrong, but I'm not sure why it differs from CS3. Could you check your color settings in Photoshop and for the display again?"
These look right to me. Are there any specific settings you'd like me to report?

  • Can I use Chroma key with première elements 13 to incrust a picture in another one ?

    trournesol02
Regarding your second question....you cannot remove the Adobe watermark from an export from the tryout project file, be the export a file saved to the computer hard drive or a burn to disc product. You can remove the Adobe watermark from a project file from the tryout if you open it in the purchased version.
    Two ways:
    a. open the tryout project file in the purchased version, use Timeline Menu/Delete Rendered Files and the Adobe watermark should be gone.
    or
    b. open the tryout project file in the purchased version, and do nothing...the Adobe watermark may disappear automatically.
The way "a" is the classical way. But many of us have found "b" to work for us.
What is the computer operating system involved? Premiere Elements Mac does not have ChromaKey, Green Screen Key, or Blue Screen Key.
It has Videomerge which I do not prefer. Instead for Premiere Elements Mac users, I would suggest the Difference Matte.

If you are using Premiere Elements 13 Windows, please refer to fx Effects/Keying/.

  • IMovie 11 with chroma-key and watermarks

I'm new to iMovie. I did attempt to find the answers to the questions below here and on the web. Frankly iMovie so far seems to be pain....
setup for my testing purposes only:
    a) borrowed chroma-key movie from the web
    b) borrowed m4p from the web
I wanted to test my ability to use chrome-key and watermarks in making a short clip using 3 products...Screenflow 4, iMovie, Final Cut Pro X.
    Questions and/or statements:
    1) Green-screen:
Screenflow and Final Cut took about 5-10 minutes with zero knowledge of either...Over an hour with with iMovie and never could make it work.
    2) Watermark:
Aganin 5-10 minutes with Screenflow and Final Cut, with iMove it looks like I could have either keying or watermark, but not both.
Screenflow is SUPER simple and cheep (on sale today for $70), I've seem it 50% off...
Final Cut is OUTSTANDING but super costly for what I wanted to do....Really a great product.
Anyway, here I am with a iMovie and so far it looks like it isn't a fit for me...Anyone know if a way to tweek it to make both chroma-key and watermarking work? I guessing it's just me, but the others seemed so simple.
Attached are screen copies of each...in order below are iMovie, Final Cut Pro X, and the output of Screenflow....
I want to thank those that I borrowed these images from...I will not use them beyond my testing....
    Thanks for any helpfull hints...

iMovie is designed with a very forgiving green screen feature so you can hang a green bedsheet on a wall and get a decent effect. It is designed for people making home movies. Perhaps for this reason, if you have a perfect green key in iMovie, then iMovie might think you used the green on purpose. It expects some variation. When people are doing computer generated graphics, or creating a green background with Photoshop or Keynote or Powerpoint, I suggest using a gradient between close shades of green, rather than a monochromatic green.
If you need sophisticated control of your keying, get FCPX. I am not familiar with Screenflow.
Also, iMovie does all rendering in one pass. This means it cannot do effects that require a render on top of a render. Say you want a greenscreen effect with a watermark on top. That is two renders. This is easy in Final Cut Pro, but not possible in iMovie without jumping through some hoops.
Also for this reason, longer movies should be done in FCPX. What for iMovie would be an immense job requiring huge resources, FCPX can do by chopping it up into bitesize pieces.

  • SSRS report does not rendering properly in sharePoint 2013

    Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie with the MSBI development tool, I've tried to create a testing SSRS reports and its layout showed correct when preview them in Visual Studio (2010 and 2012). Then I migrated the report in SharePoint 2013, but the layout do not rendering as I
expected, some data mix-up on the matrix table
The Ident on detail data (drill down) does not render properly compare the layout in when preview in Chrome or Visual Studio (SSRS)
The summation on second matrix table went wide on both browsers compare when preview thereport in Visual Studio
The export PDF (using the "action" button on the report in the browsers) showed the second matrix table is overlaps the first matrix table.
This report has 3 main queries (2 for the matrix tables and 1 for the chart) on a Dev environment:
Window server 2008 R2 with service pack 2
SQL server 2012 enteprise with service pack 2
SharePoint 2013 (no service pack) with integrated mode on the report service
    Visual Studio 2010 development tools
I'm very appreciate for anyone can provide any solution to solve this issue.
    Thank you so much,
    Dac.
P.S.: I attached the preview of the report in both browsers (IE & Chrome) and its preview in Visual Studio.
An update: ... due to the setting space on"snap to grid" default to 20 and I've made the 2nd matrix table overlaps the 1st one, therefore the it showed overlaps when export to PDF file ... it's solved.
But the Indent on IE and summation still persist in both browsers.

    Hi everyone,
The PDF's export has been solved due to the 2nd matrix table overlaps on the 1st table.
Also, I don't know why the summation (aka Row Total) went wide when data represented on the 2nd matrix table (see previous post on the row named as "Premium over 5000$" on both browser. So I've redesigned the 2nd table as normal table instead of
matrix table ... and the summation showed correct (it's so weird)
For the "Indent" issue showed in IE on both drill down of the 1st table and 2nd table which cannot be fixed, and the end user used only IE.
Could someone can enlighten me please?
    Many thanks.

  • Color correction and "sudo-chroma keying"-can they be done?

So I just wrapped my cousin's wedding, but the ceremony and reception were both held in a bar, which made for less than optimal conditions. Besides the prolific dim lighting, there were neon signs, specifically Miller and Bud Light. Those signs were both blue, so if I put on my outdoor color corrector, the video looked nice, but then if I panned, the regular ambient lighting looked off. If I applied my indoor color corrector for the ambient lighting, it looked good, but as I got close to the neons, it again looked bad. My question is, can I keyframe the 3-Way Color Corrector so that when I'm by the neons, it's as good or the same coloring as when I'm looking everywhere else?
My second issue came during the vows. Being a bar, there was a Budweiser sign on the wall, and it was paper and had just gone up, so it couldn't come down. I knew I was gonna be framing that perfectly, and unfortunately I was. However, the sign has a nice white boarder to it, so my initial and current thought is to chroma key it out and replace it with something like "Congratulations." I wasn't using a tripod, so the image moves slightly and there's 2 people in front of it, the bride and the groom respectively. Would it be easy to chroma out the white boarder which then would give me some space to matte the rest out. But what about around the people? How good of a matte could I do there? I'm thinking of something like the Magic Wand tool from Photoshop, but FCP doesn't have that. The sequence is only ~5 minutes, so not that long, but what would make it easier on me?
I don't have FCS2 yet, but if all goes according to plan, I'll be wiping my system on monday, installing Leopard, and going to FCS2 which means I could smoothecam that clip, so then my matting would be easier. In theory, I also will have Color at my disposal, but from the time I played with it at an Apple Store, it's too much for me, at least at this stage of the game. This wedding was done on the cheap, hence why I'm doing the video for them, so if I need to leave the color as-is, and the Budweiser sign in, so be it, but I'd really like to make this the best that I can, and neither of these experiments have I had much of any really experience with, so the more the merrier.
As always, any thoughts or help is much appreciated,
    -Brian

+>can I keyframe the 3-Way Color Corrector so that when I'm by the neons, it's as good or the same coloring as when I'm looking everywhere else?+
good news, yes you can keyframe all the color corrector filters and it should work handily for your situation
+>I'm thinking of something like the Magic Wand tool from Photoshop, but FCP doesn't have that.+
try these, might be just what you need: http://www.lyric.com/fcp-plugins/lyric-effects/index.html
+>The sequence is only ~5 minutes, so not that long, but what would make it easier on me?+
your Brother got married in a bar under a Budweiser sign Brian, I'm guessing he won't mind having his wedding video reflect the reality of the surroundings, so why fake it? ... easiest on you would be to leave it as it is 'cos theres nothing worse than a dodgy effect.
    hope that helps

  • Can you do Green Screen/Blue Screen/Chroma Key on Adobe Premiere Elements 12 for mac?

Can you do Green Screen/Blue Screen/Chroma Key on Adobe Premiere Elements 12 for mac?  If not, what are the alternatives?

    JimbobT
ChromaKey, GreenScreen Key, and BlueScreen Key are not included in Premiere Elements Mac.
Some suggest Videomerge as the alternative. I do not. But Videomerge is not THE alternative.
Instead, I prefer the Difference Matte as a substitute for the 3 absent keying effects. Please check out my blog post on that which includes
    the how to.
    http://atr935.blogspot.com/2013/05/pe11-difference-matte-as-substitute-for.html
The suggestion has met with good results according to the feedback that I have gotten to this.
I am strictly a Premiere Elements Windows user who does not prefer Videomerge even in Windows.
Please review, consider, and let us know the outcome.
    Thanks.

  • ¿How do you change the time of all images and do the chroma key effect in ¡Movie 10.0.2?

I know it's a simple question, but i had ¡Movie '08 and I bought the latest version, and it's really different, so I don't know, if i have like 150 photos (it's an stop-motion) how can I put the same duration? And do the chroma key effect? And I don't know why, all the images have the Ken Burns effect and I don't know how to quit it. Thanks for the help!
    Marcireca

I solved the same time problem, but now the problem is that when i use the chroma key it automatic uses the blue screen effect, not the gren (wich I want). Please help! Thanks!

  • PDF not rendering right in firefox

I have a PDF file I created on my website and noticed that in FF it is not rendering the images correctly (specifically the background image) The file renders fine in IE and Chrome but not in FF, which produces a lot of odd lines in some images and the background. I have had several people check this for me and they have the same problem, the PDF will just not show correctly in Firefox, even one person that tried it, FF will not show any pictures for her on the PDF. Did not know where to post this, as it is not really a question but an observation.
    Shy

I am sure this is helpful for those that are computer savvy like myself, but most readers of my PDF newsletter on my site are not. So it will not help them much, heck I spent 10 mins. in chat last night explaining to them what a URL is, most still did not understand. I will pass the info on anyway just in case, telling them this is only a problem if they are a FF user, or that they can use IE or Chrome if they like so it renders correctly.
    Thank you
    <blockquote>
    Hey Shyannes,
It is rendering differently because IE uses the Adobe reader plugin to display PDF's and Chrome uses a custom PDF viewer. Firefox also has a custom PDF viewer (different than both IE & Chrome).
Firefox users can view the PDF using Adobe reader by following these steps:
#Click on the Download button (the one to the right of the print button).
    # Change it from Save file to Open with: '''Adobe Reader'''
    #Click OK.
    Hope that helps.

  • Shortcut keys NOT working when publish to PDF full screen

We have a series of modules that are published to pdf and the animations run inside the pdf file. We use the Tab shortcut key quite a bit as it simulates the natural progression between form items.
This works fine when viewing the pdf in standard mode. But when you right click on the PDF and go full screen, the Tab key fails to work. It wants to place emphasis on the playback controller.
Has anyone experienced this issue, and do you know the workaround?

If the PDF's page content is not renderable text (e.g., the scanned image/picuture of characters or outlined fonts (which are graphics (a "picuture")) then there is nothing for the Highlight Comment tool to work with.
    So - two trials.
Acrobat's Preferences set to permit "U" to make use of the Underline tool.
Each trial done in Full screen.
#1 = a PDF with scanned stuff. Press "U". Tool is available but unable to highlight anything.
#2 = a PDF with renderable stuff. Press "U". Tool is available & can place highlight over selected characters.
    Be well...
