Chrome Access Limits to iCloud Photos Beta App?

I wonder if anyone has found that there are limits to accessing the iCloud Photos Beta app when viewed in the Chrome browser.
Here's what happened for me today.
On my 2012 iMac: No problem viewing the iCloud Photos Beta app in either Safari (naturally) or in Chrome.
On my 2010 MacBookPro: No problem viewing the photos in the iCloud Photos Beta app in Safari ... but no sign anywhere of the Photos Beta app when viewing iCloud.com in Chrome.
Able to Access iCloud Photos Beta?
Machine
Safari
Chrome
2012 iMac
Yes
Yes
2010 MacBookPro
Yes
NO
Anyone have a similar experience ... or an explanation?
And does anyone know of up-to-date speculation about the timing and features for a release of a true native iCloud Photos app for OSX Yosemite?

"they have to stay on my phone forever": yes, though there is an option to reduce the quality of the iPhone copies in Settings (which you seem to be aware already). This might change though, as Apple has a tendency to change their Cloud services often. They had .Mac sync, then MobileMe, then iCloud Photo Streams, now iCloud Photo Library;  who knows what they'll come up with next !

Are you talking about an iCloud backup? If so, no, an iCloud backup cannot be viewd, it can only be restored to another iOS device.

  • HT204264 Nfame of a folder in Icloud photo beta disappeared.  How do I get it back?

Put folders in icloud photo beta that were named. Name on one folder originally could be seen.  Now not there.  How do I get a folder names again?

A backup doesn't contain the contents of the Music app (nor the Videos app). Have you tried closing the Music app via the phone's multitasking bar and seeing if the music shows when you re-open the app ? Double-click the home button to open the taskbar, and then swipe or drag the Music app's screen from there up and off the top of the screen to close it, and click the home button to close the taskbar.
You could also try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.
If that doesn't work then if the music was purchased from iTunes, then depending upon what country that you are in (and if the music is still in your country's store) then you might be able to redownload it via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app on your phone. Or have you been connecting your phone to your computer's iTunes and doing File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy them over - if you have then you can sync them back.

  • HT204264 How to make my iPad library the default library in iCloud Photos Beta

I have been using photo stream to share photos between my iPhone and iPad for the past several years. I recently turned on the iCloud Photos Beta program for my iPhone, but when I go to activate it on my iPad it warns me that I'm going to lose some 6,000+ photos. I use my iPad for editing and storage of final prints before I send them to my Mac to be printed. I have a unique library set up on my iPad, but the one via iCloud library mimics my iPhone's library as a default. Is there a way to set it up so that iCloud mimics my iPad library rather than my iPhone? I don't organize photos or the library on my iPhone, but heavily rely on my iPad and don't want to lose the 6k photos to transition to iCloud.

Well you click the attach file button and then follow my detailed instructions
When sending from a browser based mail use the media browser (in the attach window in the lower left hand corner under media ==> photos ==> iPhoto)

  • How to download original photo from iCloud photo (beta) on PC?

I'm having this problem a while now... I hope there is a solution for it.
When I edit a photo on my iPhone it uploads to iCloud photo (beta) edited, when I access my iCloud photo (beta) from PC... I can only view and download the photo edited and I can not revert it to original.
Is it possible in the beta? If not, will it be in the future?
    Thanks,
    Anas  Hardy

Unfortunately you can't download an iCloud backup to a computer, or restore individual files.

  • ICloud Photo Beta with Family

My wife and I each have our own Apple IDs.  Under my ID I purchased the extra storage for iCloud hence all of my photos and videos are uploading automatically to iCloud Photo Beta which is great.  How can my wife set her iPhone to automatically upload all of her pictures and videos as well?  I have initiated and set up Family Sharing but that creates a "Family Album" and does not automatically upload her pictures to the iCloud account I am running.  Does she have to give up her iCloud?  If so what are the steps to get her on mine?  Thank you for the help everyone.

    Hi there jschneid1005,
If I am understanding you correctly, it sounds like you would like to have an album where all of you and your wife’s photos are automatically uploaded. This can be accomplished by signing into your iCloud account on her device, which would then be kept up-to-date with your iCloud account:

    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT6378
Another option is to activate iCloud Photo Library beta for her iCloud account so that her photos will be uploaded to her iCloud account and kept up-to-date, and then she can add photos to your shared Family Album at will.
Hope this information helps you understand how to accomplish what you desire. Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Have a good one!

  • ICloud Photos Beta Not Uploading

    Hello!
I am using iCloud Photos Beta on a Windows 8.1 PC with an iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 8.1.1, and iCloud for WIndows 4.0.1. I have iCloud Photos Beta enabled on my iPhone as well as in iCloud for Windows. iCloud will not auto update any photos from my PC to the web browser or to the device. If I manually upload photos using the web browser, it fails, due to network error 90% of the time.
I have tried uninstalling the client and disabling iCloud photos on the iPhone and then reinstalling/re-enabling it with no success.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks!
    Craig

  • ICloud photo beta corrupted most of my videos and pictures

When iCloud photo beta came out I started uploading all my camera roll. I never had good signal and was on and off wifi constantly.  My videos stayed on a loop uploading. I am still waiting for them to upload so I can have them. I only have the thumbnails on my phone and when I try to play them I can't. Someone out there has solutions please?

if using the phone by design, you should be regularly importing your photos to your computer like any other digital camera.  if you have failed to do this, and you have no backups then they are gone.

  • Would I be able to access all of my photos and app/game data after I erase all content and settings from my iPod through iCloud?

My iPod Touch 5th Gen. isn't syncing to my computer and I've alread backed it up to iCloud plenty of times. So my question is if I erase EVERYTHING back to factory settings and set it back up as a new iPod can i reaccess all of my photos and app/game data?

If you restore from iCloud backup all your photos in your Camera Roll album and all your iTunes purchases that were on the iPod will be restored. Photos that were synced to the iPod and non-iTunes purchases like music ripped from CDs will not be restored.

Before I take the plunge, I would like to know if complete folders can be uploaded. All my photos are organised into folders and I want to retain the same organisation in iCloud Photos.

  • Can I limit how much/many photos are stored in iCloud photos(beta)?

ex. my most recent 1500 photos/4GB etc.., to manage iCloud storage space just like the old iCloud photo stream had a limit? I'm just wondering if anyone has experience on this yet? I would assume there must be some type of allocation dedicated to backup and then to miscellaneous like photos, documents etc.. depending on whatever storage plan you have purchased. I cannot find any clear direction that would explain this? I have so many photos I don't want to be bumped up to a TB of space when I'm also saving them locally on my Mac.
    THANKS!

maybe I'm overthinking this one and I just need to offload pics to my local machine  when I reach a capacity/number of pictures I want to be accessible in the cloud?  Would love to know what exactly the features of the upcoming photos for Yosemite are, as that may answer my questions.

When I try to open photos from icloud.com, it gives me an error message. No indication of problems on system status page. It has been like that all day. Using Safari, macbook pro early  2013, Yosemite.

Yup. Same here. Its been 3 days now for me. There are a few threads on this issue. Working fine on iOS, but iCloud web app not working at all. Hope Apple fixes it soon. Not looking very reliable at the moment.
