Chrome Edge Inspect Extension never connects

The Adobe Edge Inspect Chrome extension doesn't work. Instead the extension continue to try to connect to the server. I came across this post, hoping for a fix. My inspect.js file doesn't contain the 'shadow' parameter
Will a Firefox extension be coming in the not to distant future ?

but, i can't connect to my Android phone, exactly, In the Google chrome, upper bar, there are an icon, Inscpect. but it couldn't be turned on.

Is the Edge Insepct CC desktop application is running on your computer and you are signed in with Adobe ID there?

Edge Inspect won't connect

Hi guys
I'm having trouble connecting my external devices to my desktop. You really need to get this fixed or make a useful guide as I can see this a pretty common problem.
Everything seems to work fine up until the moment I try to connect the device to my desktop. I.e. yes, I have checked the console and yes the necessary port is free and open. Also, the app has no trouble auto-detecting my desktop, it just won't connect when I select my desktop on my external device.

Please try the following. Some steps may be repetition of what you have already mentioned but these may be the likely causes and good for us to confirm:
Ensure that your computer and your device are on the same network
Port 7682 is available on your computer for use by Edge Inspect
Network settings allow communication on port 7682. You may need to talk to your IT department to determine that.
You have all the latest pieces of Edge Inspect installed: iOS/Adnroid app, Chrome cxtension, and desktop application.
The desktop application is running on your computer and you are signed with Adobe ID there.
Turn off your firewall (temporarily. Once you've made the connection you can turn it back on and make sure to add an exception for Edge Inspect)

Edge Inspect extension no longer working

I recentlyl tried using Edge Inspect and it no longer works. I checked my inspect.js file and there's no "shadow" in the version that I have. I also uninstalled and re-installed the app and turned firewall on and off with no success.
has anyone else experience this issue and found a solution to their problem?
I'm also open to other services that offer cross-browser testing, preferably free.

You'll need to also make sure the desktop application, available from the Creative Cloud, is installed. You can start that install process here - https://creative.adobe.com/products/inspect

Edge Inspect Chrome - Cannot toggle OFF to ON

I have the Edge Inspect extension installed in chrome. I have used this before but now it isn't working...
I cannot toggle the off button to ON? It just will not be clicked? My iPhone gives me the code but without being able to toggle ON i cant enter it in?
Is there a reason for this?

Toggle button should be click-able. Please state the message that you see in the chrome extension. Is it greyed out?
What version of Chrome are you using.
Also, please try reinstalling the Extension.

Adobe Edge Inspect Chrome Plug In Gray. Stopped Working.

For some reason the plug in for chrome edge inspect stopped working. I am connected to the same wifi, I am signed into creative cloud, Adobe Edge program is on, my devices can find my computer to connect. But the Chrome Icon is grayed out and will not turn on.
I've tried reinstalling. Restarting my computer. Signing into the chome browser as the same user name as my adobe cc account. Nothing has worked so far.
Strange. Was working last week when I tried it. Was there a chrome update or Adobe CC update?

I'm having the same issue. It briefly accused me of having a trial version and recommending downloading Edge Inspect CC, but no dice. Tried similar tactics as the original poster and can connect with two devices, just can't actually use the program.

How to download Adobe Edge Inspect?

It maybe weekend woes, but I find it impossible to download Adobe Edge Inspect. For starters, I would like to test the free version.
This is what I'm doing
1 )install the Edge Inspect Extension on Chrome
2) sign up for Adobe Create Cloud
3) go to apps
x) edge tools & services does not include an icon for Edge Inspect

Why directories including "file" (like /fileadmin in TYPO3) are not working with Adobe Edge Inspect?

TYPO3 uses a directory named fileadmin where all the user data (e.g. templates) is stored. But as far as i tested yet the word "file" in a folder name is a problem for Edge Inspect. The connected devices didn't react if i choose this folder at my iMac or MacBook. I've got this problem locally (using MAMP 2) and on a standard web server too.
At the moment i have to use a symbolic link (e.g. fadmin -> fileadmin) to use Edge Inspect in my TYPO3 templating workflow.

thanks for the quick answer. So i know it was not my fault.
After finding this bug the solution with a symlink is easy to use, so it's not a critical bug anymore if you can use a workaround like this. But it took me some time to figure this out.

Cannot connect to Mac 10.8.4 with Edge Inspect

I have Edge Inspect CC installed on my Computer, in Chrome and on my iPHone. I am signed in to Inspect according to the icon in the menu bar. My phone can see my Computer but cannot connect using the IP address. The Chrome Extension however says to "please start Edge Inspect" and I am not seeing the Edge icon in the Dock. So I think the thing is not activating... I seem to have the latest CC install, but I don't see a way to uninstall with the app manager and resinstall...
BTW, I don't know how or which type of port to open or find out if access is available on in Airport. I'm on a local network. The computer is connected by ethernet to the router, the phone is connected via WiFi to the network, and I've turned of NetBarrier... .

Netstat does not show anyone trying to use that port.

Does Edge Inspect share desktop's internet connection (eg, VPN) or just the same WIFI network?

I ask because on my work VPN all our testing sites are behind the firewall, and so curious if my android device running the Edge Inspect viewer would also share that VPN connection or if the desktop just basically points the device to a regular URL? The device does not have native VPN access.
I'm unable to test this because our company blocks all Chrome extensions, and before I go through a lengthy process to unblock this particular extension I just want to see if it would work as I described.

Edge inspect takes a while to connect

its been an hour. I can't connect my edge inspect says "waiting for a connection..." I just want to test responsive web design.

Make sure devices and desktop app are running on the same Wi-Fi. Also try to connect manually by entering the IP address of the machine where Edge Inspect CC app is installed.
If this doesn't help, please let me know the exact problem which you face.
Any error message in the Chrome extension's console?

Adobe Edge Inspect is not letting me connect more than one device

It saying that I need to Login or Upgrade to use the Full Version when my adobe suit is not the free trial and my account is pay through September of this year. And when I try to connect anyways, the pop up window is saying "Use of multiple devices is an Edge Inspect full version feature. Upgrade now to connect multiple devices concurrently". Let me know why this might be happening. My Chrome Version is 35.0.1916.153

Also, do we need a dedicated wi fi hub for all these devices? Are there any wi fi limitations with connecting more than 20 devices and connecting to wi-fi?

The free version of Edge Inspect limits you to connecting to one device concurrently. (You can certainly disconnect from that one and connect to another if you wish, but it's just one at a time.)
If you purchase an Edge Inspect subscription, or have a paid Creative Cloud membership, then you can connect an unlimited number of devices concurrently. (Note that I have seen up to 35 connected at once.)

It does not have to be a decicated wifi router, although it certainly can if that makes sense for you. For example, at my home I have a single wifi router that I always use for my laptops and video streaming devices, with my desktop computer connected to the same router on Ethernet, and I can connect my 5 tablets and 2 mobile phones to Edge Inspect on the same router with no issues.
My router says it can support up to 250 connections at once (Ethernet + wifi); however, I have nowhere near that many devices so I could not put that to the test. I think a more reasonable limit is around 30; however, that is just based on having to share bandwidth. You might want to check what your router says is its limit.
Just keep in mind that the more devices you have downloading data, the slower the performance will be.
