Chromecast Constant Communication with my Phone

I have a Galaxy S3, running Android 4.3 and a Fios Actiontec rev I.
I'm having constant communication between my Chromecast and my Android phone and it's causing wakelocks on my phone (my phone won't sleep, so it's killing the battery faster).
The Plex app constantly communicating with my Chomecast and causing a wlan_rx_wake kernel wakelock.
I haven't run plex today at all and my plex server PC is off.
I ran a network traffic logger and I see 2 entries constantly.
Plex SRC 192.168.1.127 DST 239.255.255.250
Kernel SRC 192.168.1.127 DST 192.168.1.116
192.168.1.127 is my Chromecast IP and 192.168.1.116 is my phone IP.
If I force close plex, it stops temporarily, but plex soon gets loaded again and starts the communication over.
Same thing happens with the Vevo app, which is chromecast enabled as well. I've tried disabling both UPnP and IGMP Proxy, but nothing changed.
What's going on here? How can I get this to stop? It's preventing the phone from going into deep sleep.

Firstly Louise you're basically shouting at fellow Telstra customers here, this is a basic customer to customer help forum. Sound s like you might need to take advantage of the official Telstra complaint channels to have these matters investigated for you. You find the appropriate options for this at the fllowing link: https://say.telstra.com.au/customer/general/forms/Email-Complaint Oh, and it's never a good idea on a public internet forum to post personal details, eg. your email address, might be an idea to edit your post and remove it.

Imessage on my computer not communicating with my phone. In my computer settings my phone number is no longer an option, just my email. How do I get it back?

    HI,
    I had this.
On checking the iPhone the iPhone Number was not ticked and the whole option to change it was greyed out.
I removed the Apple ID and waited to see if th Number got ticked (Settings > Messages > Send and Receive).
    It did not.
I put the iPhone in Airplane Mode
After a few minutes I "restarted" the iPhone by turning off Airplane Mode
This time the Number was ticked.
I Added the Apple ID and then restarted Messages on the Mac.
I soon got the pop message about the iPhone using it's Number and the Apple ID and Accepted.

  • Communication with mobile phone's modem

    Dear All,
I have a work in which i need to send and receive SMS from a desktop app. I have seen that smart phone has built-in GSM modem so i am thinking to utilize a mobile phone instead of purchasing standalone GSM modem.
I looked into google a lot and found few examples on the net especially on the codeproject.com where the authors shown how we can send SMS from a modem or mobile phone (for example: http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/38705/Send-and-Read-SMS-through-a-GSM-Modem-using-AT-Com). I have downloaded and tried few of the programs but nothing worked. In all of the programs one thing is common that they are using Serial ports for communication while i am connecting my mobile to pc with a USB port. I am not sure is there any way i can do it in java or i can virtually convert my USB port to com port.
Any help and suggestions will be appreciated.
    Many thanks
    Umer

I have AT&T, and I know that they prohibit modem tethering (what you're referring to) with standard data plans. I have a $20/month unlimited data plan but if I use it tethered to my computer, they may cancel my service because I broke the contract. You can do it anyway, however, but in very small amounts. It is possible for them to track this, but if you only use it sparingly, then they either won't notice or won't care. Alternatively, you could buy the $60/month data tethering plan, which would function exactly the same, except it would be legal.
Most, if not all, wireless providers have the same policy. That's why they'll never help you with this.
If you want to do this anyway, I recommend a Sony Ericsson W600. I've been using this phone for a long time, and it's fantastic. It doesn't have 3G though. Google for "osx modem drivers" or something like that to find more info. All these drivers have been written by some nice hacker, and some work better than others, so if this is your only consideration in buying a new phone, try to find which drivers work best.

    Thanks,

No. Apple does not do trade-ins of any kind. Sell your 4S & use the money towards an iPhone 5.

  • TS1717 Having trouble running iTunes version 11.0.2 on a Dell Laptop running Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1.  Keep getting an error message "the software required for communicating with iPods and mobile phones was not installed correctly..." reinst

Having trouble when I launch iTunes (version 11.0.2) on my Dell Laptop running Windows 7 Professional (service pack 1).  I get an error message indicating software required to communicate with iPod and mobile phones was not installed correctly.  Do you want iTunes to try to repair this for you?  I normally respond with OK and it immediately tells me "could not be repaired.  Please reinstall iTunes..."  I have done this a number of times to no avail.

I also notice Quicktime is not getting installed at all.
That one is normal nowadays (ever since the iTunes versions 10.5.x).
The software required for communicating with iPods and mobile phones was not installed correctly. Do you want iTunes to try to repair this for you?
Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Fist day with BT. First Fault with the phone. Un...

So, I moved my phone and broadband from Sky and today took BT Infinity 2 and phone from BT.  Notificatoins right from ordering up until today have been excellent - BT really have that down to a tee -it's great to be informed at each step of the ordering process.
Activation date was today and all is working well.
Well, that is except for the phone, which can dial out, and you can call in, but if you do, we get a long constant ring instead of alternate rings.  It just doesn't stop.  Until I pick up the phone.
I plugged the phone directly into the test socket.  Same issue.
I tried the online check.  No problem with the line.
I called and they checked.  No problem with the line.
I then spoke to someone on the helpdesk who was even less help than a chocolate teapot.  He tried to tell me that it was something to do with my sync speed and it will all be sorted by the 10th!
What's sync speed got to do with my phone ringing funny?
Another 10 minutes of bull**** and I eventually hang up.  Some things just never change.  I remember the BT Call Centre being like this years ago.
Now, I still have the issue.  So, some questions:
    - Even though all my order says completed, could it be that I need to wait until tomorrow for this to work properly?
    - I can no longer see when I have a missed call.  Previously, the phone would give me the missed call icon. Worked this morning when I was on Sky.  Now, nothing.  Could that be a setup thing, too?
Not related to the phone, but still frustrating is the fact that I've registered 3 iPhones for BT SmartTalk.  They all have different numbers (obviously!), yet when I register them, they are all registered against the first number that I registered.  Is that right?  Surely not.
Now don't even get me started about having to pay for caller display and basic 1571...
For now, though, can anyone shed any light on the endless ringing issue and the SmartTalk issue?
    Thanks.

  • Error in communicating with DCR

    Preliminary question:
For LMS 3.2 on Windows, which is better 2003 or 2008?
    Primary issue:
Background:  new install of LMS 3.2 on Windows 2008 sp2 Virtual Machine.
              Upgraded Campus to 5.2.1
              Upgraded RME to 4.3.1
when updating device packages, services started extremely slow with anidbeng taking 2hrs. portal showed service unavailable.
had to restart crmdmgtd to be able to login.
most links in CS return the following:   Error in communicating with DCR server.  DCR server may be down.  Please start the DCR server           and then refresh the page.   The DCR server shows running normal.
              tried restarting crmdmgtd
              attached DCR.log
             tried  CSCtd07131 .. no success

Windows 2008 offers more scalability so I would go with that although LMS has been tested on both (you will have a longer life of support as well).
When applying the CSCtd07131 patch, you need to be sure it is the right patch for the right CS version as there are multiple versions out there.  However, this is fixed in LMS 3.2.1 so you should just upgrade there.
An often overlooked matter when installing LMS are the steps mentioned here:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-9132
I see constant TAC cases due to installation problems because the above steps are not met or are half-met.  Services starting slowly are usually an after-effect of something blocking ports (anti-virus or such) or possible database corruption.  Setting DEP and anti-virus as specified above might help here, but if you did not follow these steps to the letter during this new install, I would suggest to cleanup this server and re-install properly; then move all the way to LMS 3.2.1.

  • IPod not communicating with iTunes

When I open iTunes a dialog box pops up saying "The software required for communicating with iPods and mobile phones was not installed correctly. Do you want iTunes to try to repair this for you?" To which I answer yes, click the "Continue" button and wait....iTunes then opens up and another dialog box opens saying the same thing "The software required for communicating with iPods and mobile phones was not installed correctly. • I got my iphone 5 3 weeks ago and the battery life is very short. It drains out very fast. Does anyone know if it's a problem with the iOS or with my phone? Because I'm a bit concerned

I recieved my iPhone 5 3 weeks ago and the battery life completely *****! After doing a few things and maybe using it for about 30 minutes the phone start overheating like crazy then the battery starts dropping very fast. Does anyone know if it's a problem with the iOS or with my phone? And is anyone else expierenceing these problems?

It sounds like you have an app that is incorrectly continuously using data and power... from normal use the phone should NOT be getting that warm... only constant video playing via data like Netflix for example would result in that...
I'd say that you should remove all apps in the recent app tray... tunr phone off... then once you power back on...
Hold BOTH home and sleep wake buttons together until you see a white apple symbol... then release both buttons...
This will ensure you have no apps running...
I've experienced a hang up with mail while out and about that has resulted in this on my iPhone as well... Once I performed these steps it was fixed... it seemed like it got stuck and that's what caused the warm phone and battery drain...
I notived that when it gets stuck (mail app that is) I will see the text connecting at the bottom and it never changes to "updated" like it should... this is my trigger that it's gotten stuck.
Have not really figured out what causes mail app to get stuck yet...

  • Safari cannot open the page ~ The error was: "There was a problem communicating with the web proxy server (HTTP)

Help!  I was cruzing along just fine and went out tonight only to receive the message above:
    Cannot open Page
    Safari cannot open the page
The error was: "There was a problem communicating with the web proxy server (HTTP)."
I have had all the Apple iPhone phone.  Have never encountered anything like this.
All systems are GO as soon as I log on to wifi.
    Can anyone help, please.

I am also fixed.  I also loaded Onavo, but that was the other day ... this is what I did with the help of online chat with AT&T ...
    I went to:
    Settings
    Wifi
I selected the network I was working on by hitting the blue arrow located on right side
At the detail page of that network I scolled down to the bottom to find HTTP Proxy boxes
I was on Off and changed it to Auto and it worked!
    I was soo jazzed!!
Instructions said if it was already on AUTO, to change it to Manual and make your Port = 80 but I didn't have to do that!
    YIPPIE!!  I'm a new man!!
Go to settings -----> WI-FI  -----> select the network you're using  ------> hit the blue arrow located on the right-side of the network name (ie: show details of that network), this takes you to another page.
--------> at the bottom of the page you'll see "HTTP Proxy" boxes (located below the "renew lease" button) ---------------> change the proxy to AUTO.   Note: if you're already at AUTO, change it to "Manual" and make your Port = 80.
