hi, i am trying to install chrome cast device which will enable me to view my videos from laptop or mobile on my tv through my wireless internet. while creating the setup it gave an error message that'' we r unable to discover your chromecast on your network. this may require a small change to you wifi router settings. please visit   cast.google.com/chromecast/help?id=upnp  for help troubleshooting this issue.''
if u go there they said 1. disable access point isolation--- i don't know how to do that
                                    2. enable upnp--- which i did
                                    3. Multicast is disabled on this AP, from the router settings > Enable 'No IP IGMP snooping' for cisco 1142 N
 but i have cisco EPC2425. PLEASE guide what to do.

Well I have found a solution that worked for me.
Spent hours on and off searching every corner of the net for similar problems. Constant rebooting of everything and tried all channels on my router following a scan of nearby wi-fi with inSSIDer but the problem stayed totally consistant in that after a period of time the Chromecast would lose connection with the hub until the hub was rebooted.
Then on a whim I happened to look in the home hub settings at devices that had been connected to our wi-fi in the past... mostly due to the friends of my teen daughters. There were dozens and dozens of them shown as live authorisations but currently not corected... so I went through and deleted them all so there were just our six current devices left showing.
And bingo the Chromecast doesn't lose connection any more.
I accept there might be no logic for this and it may not work for others but happy now I'm sorted.

  • E4200 Problems with Chromecast interference

    I have a E4200 ver1 and when my Chromecast is on I can't connect to the Internet. This is interesting because my computer is connected vie Ethernet, so technically the wireless chrome cast should not block the Internet connection but it does. It is definitely the Chromcast. I had a similar problem with my home alarm systems camera but that connected via Ethernet so I can see where there might be a problem.     What wireless modes are you using?
    Ensure the SSID is different between 2.4 and 5Ghz.
    Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N on 2.4Ghz and single mode N or Mixed on 5Ghz?
    Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.

    What wireless devices do you have connected?
    Ensure any devices with WiFi adapter drivers are updated.
    Any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz cordless house phones or WiFi APs near by?
    Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use http://www.techspot.com/downloads/5936-inssider.html to find out. Use v3. How many?

    My apple mini ipad will connect you tube to my HD TV through chromecast.  Why won't my netflix on my mini ipad connect to my HD TV through chromecast?

    Could you specify what brand, model, and ports the TV has?
    Perhaps the maker of the digital TV has customer support.
    Unless that's part of the issue, a general lack of it there, too.
    However remote that may be, a few have a web page with
    pictures of the back or end of their product with ports in view.
    And/or a schematic of the kinds of gremlins they have inside.
    Was your MB/Pro a certified Apple Store refurbished 'special deal' or bought at a retail store from existing stock that may have been an older model?
    In either case, the ability to return the item has a limited duration from the date of purchase; unless there is a technical issue whereby they may choose to repair or replace a failed component or device. Perhaps someone with more experience with the device and adapters will offer their take on what to attempt next.

  • Problem with "Home Network" in hub manager

    Hi everyone,
    I had a bit of an issue with my homehub this week where some prolonged decorating caused the hub to be unplugged for most of the day. When the hub was plugged in again it appeared to have performed a factory reset. Now over the past day or two it has had the odd issue that I've needed to sort. My main issue is that currently the "Home Network" option with the Home Hub manager will cause the router to reset and drop connection, however it is only this page. Also the router isn't responding to requests to bthomehub.home and I have to use the IP. I've done a factory reset through the hub manager and set up all my previous settings as were previously, but the lack of access to the "Home Network" page is still a problem and is getting to be frustrating because I have a chromecast unable to connect without being able to turn off smart setup.
    Details of my home hub below, any input would be lovely.
    BT Home Hub 5 (Type A) | Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.173.1.6

    have you tried a factory reset but using the recessed button on back and holding for 20/30 secs until the lights flash?

  • Casting bt sport to tv via chromecast is refusing ...

    Right. Here I am trying to watch moto gp via ipad chromecast to tv and I keep getting a message saying 'session- failed to connect'.
    It was working fine when I watched live gp from Argentina last week, and I haven't changed anything.
    As Netflix is coming through ok, I don't think it can be the connection.
    We are absolutely fed up with the bt sport operation.
    Oh the joy it used to be to switch on BBC and get the whole thing without any problem.
    We're not much impressed by the presentation either, as it happens- but can put up with a lot if we can just watch the blooming race.
    Bt sport doesn't work on the tv channel despite very strong signal.
    Bt sport refuses to work via hdmi cable from PC to tv
    Bt sport as of yesterday and today, refuses to work between ipad / chromecast/ tv
    I must say it's been an unsatisfactory experience from start to finish.
    We don't watch football, boxing or any of the other myriad of offerings
    We only signed up for bt sport because Moto gp can only be viewed live through bt these days
    Don't know whether to blame Dorna for greed, bt for inefficiency, or both organisations for everything.
    It was compulsory to extend my broadband connection for a one year minimum to get bt sport, so I'm wondering where I stand if I decide to end the contract as they are not fulfilling there part of the contract

    Ipad to chromecast was working fine again last night. But today all ready for moto and back to no go.
    i've just finished watching German touring cars via chromecast and again without a problem.
    I can't understand why it only seems to give up when Moto is on.
    It comes up on the ipad and the pc without any problem so I can see it, just not getting it on to the TV
    I have broadband, but not infinity- do you think it just ain't fast enough for the surge of bike fans? ( I get a maximum of 16mbps)
    By the way sorry I forgot to notice the error messages today so I can't tell you. So busy pulling my hair out and trying not to hit somebody!

  • Google Chromecast stopped work - Parental controls...

    I have been using a Chromecast to watch Netflix on my Sony Bravia TV and it has worked fine for several months. Now it has stopped working and I see the message "Chromecast connected to -BT Hub name- but can't access the internet":
    The only thing that I can think of that has changed is my I'm on hte BT Parental Controls trial. This allows me to restrict internet access at hte household/router level. I've disabled these completely (see screenshot below) and reconfigured the Chromecast, including a factory reset, but I can't seem to get past this message.
    All other internet access works fine - nothing is blocked. I've even unboxed my 2nd Chromecast and set that up and it has the same issue.
    Could it be that the Parental Controls have changed hte settings in the Hub? Maybe somethign to do with UPnP?
    Any help welcomed.

    I have had the same problem and have been tearing my hair out trying to solve it!!
    The solution I found was as follows:
    go into hub manager and do the following
    turn off smart set up
    switch off Upnp control
    Then log into My BT and turn off parental controls and delete parental control settings.  
    This last action is the most important part as I already guessed ti was the parental controls stopping the Chromecast from accessing the internet, but turning off the parental controls didn't work alone!
    although this doesn't help with keeping your children safe, there are other means to control what they access on the internet and until BT sort out this problem I won't be using their parental controls.  
    I hope this helps
    My kids are happy now they can watch Netflix and Play films.

  • A fix for nexus and Chromecast on bt

    Been struggling for a few weeks now casting from my nexus to Chromecast via BT but have finally found a solution.
    First of all make sure your google play services is the latest addition you can find the latest version here http://www.apk4fun.com/apps/com.google.android.gms/ after installation turn your device off and back on and try to cast if it does not work do the following which worked for me.
    First of all install a older version of play services once installed go into your app manager and force stop google play services
    Turn of your device and then back on.
    Go back to your google play services and restart the play services.
    Then go to your Chromecast and start it up, it will tell you that it needs the latest version of play services to work, follow the on screen instructions and let it update.
    Once done exit everything and turn the device on and off then reconnect to your Chromecast and you should be good to go.
    If not pester google like I did, it has nothing at all to do with the BT home hub all issues are Google's latest updates.

    I was having the exact same problems in Final Cut Studio 2
    Motion crashes/closes on 'save as' or export.
    DVD studio pro crashes on import.
    Soundtrack Pro crashes on save as.
    Final cut pro 6 was the only one that worked fine. Not sure about LiveType, havn't used that in like 4 years.
    JUST A WARNING:
    Final Cut Pro X will not open after this fix!
    Any ideas of how to get both FCS2 and FCPX working on the same machine in Snow Leopard? I like editing in FCPX (for my needs it's faster) but I still need DVDSP. :/
    Any point upgrading to FCS3 or will that crash as well?

    (This worked just fine for me to reverse the process and get FCPX to work again, HOWEVER, I am NOT qualified to give this advice, I am not a programmer or developer! - do the following at your own risk.)
    Open Terminal and enter the 4 lines below and press 'enter' after each line:
    cd /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/
    sudo mv ProKit.framework "ProKit(SnowLeopard).framework"
    sudo mv ProKitFOO.framework ProKit.framework
    exit

  • Sudden unsupported signal with Chromecast

    While watching a show from Netflix, streaming from my nexus 4, 4.4.4 to our TV, a 42RV530U, the tv casting screen suddenly just has my TVs message "unsupported video signal". If I unplug Chromecast from the HDMI port on the back of the TV, it changes to "no signal", so it appears my TV recognizes there is a device there, but out of nowhere, doesn't recognize it?? We've been using this system for months!
    I tried switching it to a different HDMI port and changing the input, which works properly with our other devices like Xbox, so I know it's not a problem with the port. I tried the Xbox on all ports/inputs and they're all fine, and just once I was able to get the Chromecast home screen back and stream Netflix long enough for one episode via a different HDMI port, but then it did the same "unsupported signal" thing, and now no matter what port/input I'm on, it won't register. The Netflix app still says it's playing and connected to Chromecast however, so I feel it's something to do with the TV and not Chromecast.
    I did troubleshoot all the steps, finally ending with holding the button on Chromecast until it reset. Attempted to set it up again, but I cannot see the code on the screen. Just the same TV message, "unsupported signal".
    Why would it support it just fine, and then suddenly stop, and now the TV doesn't recognize it at all??

    I found the problem. Somehow, something happened to the kernel image and corrupted it. On a whim I re-installed the package, getting 4.0.1-1 again and after that the system boots fine again.
    No idea what happened to it, there were no crash events or bad dismounts etc. that I know of. I guess Windows might have done something.

    Yes they are not compatible. I do not have either program so could not try anything.
    Try running one in a different compatibility mode.

    If this fails to resolve your issue, I recommend searching some Windows forums for the error you are getting.
    It could have something to do with security setting on your OS.

  • Is the Teltra technicolor TG797n V3 compatible with Chromecast?

    I want to stream (legal) Internet movie content to my non-smart TV.I am wanting to subscribe to either Stan or Netflix media streaming services and it seems I need to buy a Chromecast for my non-smart TV in order to view/cast stream onto my home TV.Essentially, I have heard there could be some problem with my new Technicolor TG797n V3 Modem router as Chromecast does not list the modem as a compatible device.  Therefore I am afraid my wifi may not cast to the TV. Will I be wasting my $ on a chromecast that isn't compatible with my Technicolor modem?  Should I hook up my old modem router to create some sort of filtering loop?  I am completely in the dark.  Any tips, suggestions, instructions or explanations appreciated. Thank you in advance. 

    Hi lorie, you shouldn't have any problems with the Chromecast. Great device have been using it since day one. We are streaming to a non smart TV with it, from a tablet; lappy and desktop PC. Eeverything from Movies, the new Presto service, you name it. The chromecast just needs to be given access (Via password etc. ) to your home wiFi and you'll be off and running.  Never seen any complaints about it and the TG797.

    The problem is probably because of the Chromecast. My Chromecast has had the same problem, but it´s Chromecast´s problem. Try reseting your Chromecast, or dissconect from your Wi-Fi Network and connect again.

    I am having a problem with my chromecast whereby it requires me to restart my home hub 5 every 2 days, i have re-configure the home hub so that it is only connected to the 2.4ghz channel which i originaly thought may have been the problem, anyone else have this issue and what was the resolution.

  • Chromecast and Homehub 3

    I installed our new CC last night.
    Initially I tried it on the main TV adjacent to the main router which is a HH5.  The results were as follows:
    Netflix - worked no problem
    YouTube worked in a fashion but was slow and could drop the signal
    Play Music - no sound but the static Google headphone screen appeared
    Vevo - Pulled up part of a screen which appeared to be from the HH setup, there was  BT button visible with some text
    BBC iPlayer - Pulled up part of a screen which appeared to be from the HH setup, there was  BT button visible with some text
    I then set it up on our 2nd TV which is adjacent to a HH3 which is setup as a wireless extender using powerlink adapters connecting it back to the HH5 and Infinity.
    The results were exactly the same.
    I sort of expected problems with HH5 as seems to be reported quite widely but as HH3 does not have Smart Setup and is single frequency I assumed it would be less likely to have problems.
    Any thoughts on what I need to do to the HH3 to make all the apps work?

    Don't know if this ever got resolved Tel. I have no problems with BT (lucky me) so don't often come on here.
    Anyhoo, got 2 chromecasts, living room TV and kitchen TV, running via our Infinity 2 connection and HH4, no cap.
    Our use is 95% streaming online content from such as Netflix, and I'd expect that to count (although it's acedemic for me as I'm on an unlimited package).
    When not in use I can't see it using any data other than phoning home every so often.
    How you getting on with your CC?
    For us, for the hidden form factor and price, it's probably the best bit of kit we've ever bought.
