Chromium passwords missing ONLY when logging in via lxdm

Crazy I know but it's true.  If I log in via lxdm and from with in chromium: preferences>personal stuff>manage saved passwords both "saved passwords" and "never saved" are blank.  If I switch /etc/inittab to use lightdm, telinit 3 && telinit 5 and log in, all passwords are there and populated.  WTF?

I have the same problem with chrome. Has anyone found a solution for this? Adding
auth optional pam_gnome_keyring.so
session optional pam_gnome_keyring.so auto_start
to /etc/pam.d/lxdm didn't helped for me.

Have you tried toggling the option for Chromium to use the GTK theme? (if its already in use, switch to Chrome's theming and switch back)

my ipod tells me my apple id password is wrong even though I just changed the password. I can log on via my desktop, but the ipod continues to tell me that the password is incorrect, so I can't update any apps. when I continue to to try to enter the correct password in it finally freezes the account, and I have to go online via my desktop to fix that problem. I have two apple id's because when my ipod crashed I had to reset it completely. I have never had any problems with this before, and it has been a year since I got my second id, which is linked to the ipod. My first id is used for the cloud on the same device. My wife suggested I reset documentson the cloud for the second id, however, when I try to log on the cloud with my current id, it tells me I have to set up the cloud on that device, but it is already done, but with the old id.
confusing I know. I have been on the 'change your password merry-go-round' all day, and I'm getting dizzy! Help!

  • [Fixed] Can't log in via LXDM 0.4.1-2

Ever since the patch update 0.4.1-3 I haven't been able to log in via LXDM. I skipped a few revisions, but as -7 has been out for a while now, I tried updating again today. Same result. .pac* files have been merged and LXDM itself starts up fine.
Any help here? (Also, which log files should I investigate/do you need to see?)

I am currently experiencing the same issue described here. I try to login and it goes to a blank screen and then immediately goes back out to the login window. It does not matter what desktop I choose.
My lxde.log file does not seem to have anything. Here is the tail end of it:

  • Password lock only when lid closed

I'm reviving an old thread here to see if this is possible in Lion before I upgrade. Here is the original question from Haiiyaa as he stated it most succinctly:
    Hi,
I have a MacBook. I am trying to find a way so that the computer prompts me for a password only when i close the lid . Not everytime the monitor goes into screensaver or sleep mode. I have looked for a solution for this all over the web, and it just doesn't seem possible. I am surprised that is the case. Isn't it a little annoying that you have to log in everytime the computer screensaver comes on?
Especially when I am in battery mode, the laptop goes into sleep mode very quickly. I don't want to log in everytime i need to use the laptop.
    Thanks
Here are the two threads which covered it in 10.6. The answer was that this can't be done.

    Anyone have any new ideas?
    Thanks,
    M

    Hi Matthew,
I'm sorry to say I have no answer, but I'm also searching a solution. Even though it seems to be poorly understood by most people, and appears relatively minor on the surface, I see it as a huge gaping security hole.
    Take for example the following:
During the evening, I'm at home, around, making dinner and occasionally using my computer. It's open, on my desk, and is secure by the sheer virtue of there being nobody with access to it at that time. It may be hours between uses, but I don't ever want to be bothered for my password.
But, the moment I step out of the flat, or at a coffee shop, or if my bag is stolen, or when only my roommates are home, I want that thing to be locked. And I want that lock to be really, really easy to engage, in which I think that closing the lid is the simplest, quickest, and most visibe at a glance. No menus, hotkeys, dialogues, delays, etc..
So in summary, we want the same behaviour, which was really freaking easy in 10.5.x, and has been unceremoniously yanked out from our favourite os.
    Booo!! Hisss!!

AAPL - can you explain what those settings are? As Haiyaa states, the Security preferences do not seem to be able to handle that situation.
In that preference pane, in the General Tab, the only pertinent option is "Require password [option menu] after sleep or screen saver begins." If you check that box, it requires a password when either waking from sleep or when the screen saver appears. Also, most annoyingly, if you have the setting for the monitor to sleep, which isn't the same things as either actual sleep or the screen saver, and it's getting annoying that I'm trying to save power and must type in my password, even though I'm also in a school setting and need a password protection for when I put it to sleep.
In any case, if the box is unchecked, then it doesn't require a password for either sleep OR for the screen saver (or for the monitor sleep).
So if you could shed light on what your settings are that allows you to only enter a password when waking from sleep, it would be much appreciated.

  • Application alias shows up only when logged in as SYS

    Oracle 11gR2
    APEX 4.2.3
    RHEL 6.3
    select *
    from   apex_applications
    where  workspace = 'MY_WORKSPACE';
    -- 0 rows
When logged into APEX as a user with a workspace assigned (MY_WORKSPACE) that contains an application (and an application alias), no rows are returned when given the application alias in the query above (see the above SQL).
But log in as SYS and the application alias is there -- i.e. a row is returned.
    What could be causing this?

Many dictionary views limit rows returned by level of access.
For instance, schema owners will only see applications related to the workspace their associated with.
Some views won't let you see any rows unless you're querying via APEX (not SQL Developer), eg: apex_application_files

  • MacBook Pro Turns off Randomly Only when logged in OSX 10.8.2

    Hi,
I have a 2010 Macbook pro with Mountain Lion 10.8.2. For a couple of weeks now, when its not plugged in to AC it turns off randomly, not at any specific battery%.
Things I have tried already that were not helpful:
    - System profiler battery: 374 cycles, Battery Status: Normal
    - SMC reset
    - Clean install of Mountain Lion without any Migraion of old System files (wanted to do this anyways before the problem arose)
    - Its does not seem to be a heating issue, has happened at low temperatures
What I have noticed is that if I either run the diagnostics at startup or enter to recovery mode, I can run the battery all the way to 0% (lasts a while) and this random swtiching off doesn't occur. It only happens when I am logged in to OSX. This makes me think its not a battery issue either.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click  Log in.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Missing Text when logged in chinese language

    Dear Experts,
I have created a smartform to print barcode which will be triggered through a custom program.Everything is fine when logged in EN but when logged in chinese language one of the window text/information is missing in the layout. All the attributes/parameters of this window are normal and same like other windows.
I debugged the smartform to see the language parameters being passed in the run time for this window and found everything is quite same with other windows but I really can't figure it out why this particular window text is missing.
The text/info. printed through this window is a value that comes from the print program.
I also tried the option translate into other language in the attributes but not really useful.
Any help is greatly appreciated <offer removed by moderator>.

    Hi,
I am not sure , but if output and Font have no problem, then this can also be due to output device type used for smartform /  PDF printing.
Check if output device type is different in EN and ZH in table TSFDEVTY.

  • Domain users cannot connect to the network folders when logged in via rds remote apps

    Hi,
recently I setup an RDS farm for remote apps on server 2012 r2.
all users can connect to the apps published. no problems there.
but when users connect via rds they cannot connect to the networkfolders and cannot store the resultance of there work (docx and xlsx files)
all users are normally connected to the networkfolders using a small login batch file handing down the unc path needed. when I log in as domain admin, also using a login batch, connections are setup correctly. It seems to me to be an security issue on the
    rds session host.
    how to alter this?

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
We use WMI to communicate with the RDSH server. Various issues can cause WMI to deny access or return error codes. Here's a few things you can try:
    1.  Check if the "TS Web Access Computers" security group on the RDSH server has incorrect permissions in DCOM and/or WMI:
       For checking DCOM security settings:
       1. Start the Component Services MMC snapin
       2. Navigate to Component Services -> Computers -> My Computer
       3. Right-click on My Computer and select properties
       4. Go to the COM Security tab
       5. Under Access Permissions, click the Edit Limits button
       6. Ensure that TS Web Access Computers is in the list, with all of the permissions set to “allow”.
       7. Under Launch and Activation Permissions, click the Edit Limits button
       8. Ensure that TS Web Access Computers is in the list, with all of the permissions set to “allow”.
       For checking WMI security settings:
       1. Start the WMI Control MMC snapin
       2. Right-click the WMI Control node and select properties
       3. Go to the Security tab
       4. Navigate to Root->CIMV2->TerminalServices
       5. With TerminalServices selected, click the Security button
       6. Ensure that TS Web Access Computers is in the list with Execute Methods, Enable Account, and Remote Enable set to "allow"
    2.  Verify the RD Session Host server's firewall allows WMI calls.
    3. Verify that the RD Connection Broker hasn't lost its trust relationship with the domain.
    4. See if non-RDS related WMI calls can be successfully made to the RDSH server. This can help differentiate between a general WMI issue and an issue calling the RDS WMI provider.

on the server where your portal runs you have a user calles <SID>adm, where <SID> stands for the three-letter name of your system.
This user needs read/write rights on the SecStore files...

  • Username or Password is incorrect when logging into 2008r2 standard RDS sessions host

    Hello there TechNet forums,
I recently finished setting up a Windows 2008r2 RDS sessions host.  The licensing server is a Windows Server 2012 server with 5 per user 2012 RDS licenses.  The Windows 2008r2 server is pointed to the 2012 server correctly.
When I do a remote desktop connection from a third computer,  I am not able to log in.  I receive "Username or Password is incorrect."  The accounts are in the remote desktop users group (both in the domain and on the local group
for the server).  I have tried to use domain\username, \domain\username, \domain\username\. None work. I am able to log onto the console with the same username and password I am trying for a remote session.
I am unsure where to look moving forward.  Any suggestions are appreciated and welcome.  If you need more information, please let me know, I will provide what I can.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Does this issue happens for single user or all users and on single machine? Did you try from other system?
What’s your client OS and RDP version? I suggest to have RDP v8.1 for better functionality. Also see whether you can ping the server.
In addition, for a try please disable firewall and check whether you can access the remote server. Also clear the server name from below registry on client machine, reboot and check the result.

  • [Solved] Username case sensitivity when logging in via BASIC authentication

    Hi,
Quick question... where the web.xml file defines BASIC authentication for an app, can a change be made somewhere to make the username case INsensitive ?
.. such that passwords remain case sensitive but usernames can be upper/lower regardless of how they are stored (in the database in this case, via DBTableOraDataSourceLoginModule).
I was thinking I could add an upper(supplied_username) function wrapper somewhere before the supplied username / stored username are compared.. what class/file would I need to edit to try that solution?
If not possible.. would form authentication be a better option for case insensitivity, and if so would it be difficult to hookup a custom login form to the DBTableOraDataSourceLoginModule instead of the BASIC login window ?
    Thanks..

    Hi,
by default all username and password is cases sensitive - no matter how the logon is performed. The DBTableOraDataSourceLoginModule provides an option to handle passwords case insensitive (as explained in the documentation !)

  • Some album artwork missing only when viewed in tile mode.

Hello, after Restoring to new (to clear up an issue with excessive "other") and updating iPod 5 to iOS 7.1, which corrected issues, I have found an odd glitch with music. Four album covers are missing when viewed in tile mode only. You see them otherwise when viewed any other way, everything plays as it should, it's just there not there in tile view mode, what you do see is black background with white letters telling you the album title and artist name. Have tried powering down, soft reset, Reset All Settings. Going into get info and tapping get artwork. Erasing effected music and syncing albums back into iPod. Erasing entire music library and then reinstalling, and Restore from backup. The same four albums do not appear in tile mode. All effected albums were purchased through iTunes. As far as I know the only other thing to try is the Restore to new, is there something else to try? Thanks.

Sorry Illaass, been there, done that. No joy! Used the suggested method to delete before posting this. (Picked it up from you when you helped someone else with a similar problem-- it worked for them, but not with this one). It's kinda looking like restoring to new? (Please tell me something else... It's such a pain.)
