Chromium pepper flash jagged image/controls/text when fullscreen

Hi. I'm testing the chromium pepper flash and it seems to be more responsive and more faster than regular flash player. I'm no longer affected by this https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=155503 issue too.
But there is an issue. When I go fullscreen, for example, in youtube, I get jagged text and picture. Just like this:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/16222427/ARCH/ … 9%3A21.png
Maybe not the best example, because the artifacts are hard to see in this screenshot, but in motion it's pretty annoying especially in 720p+ videos. You can see that the font is jagged and the controls at the bottom look just like that. Anyone getting this too?
I've tried both packages that are in AUR. This occurs only when fullscreen.
I'm using XFCE, latest kernel from core repos, x86_64 and chromium from core repos. I tried chromium binary version from AUR and it didn't help.
Oh, and with regular flashplayer, it's fine, just a bit slower.
EDIT: this is a screen when watching 360p, looks even worse, looks like the picture is not stretched corectly.

Nobody? If it makes this more clear, that one could say that the image gets pixelated.

  • [SOLVED] Both stable and unstable chromium-pepper-flash won't install

    Hi all,
I just installed Chromium, but am unable to install Flash. It was recommended that I install pepper-flash rather than flashplugin, since the latter is deprecated. But there is a problem:
chromium-pepper-flash-stable won't install because the link to the package is invalid:
    ERROR: Failure while downloading google-chrome-stable-31.0.1650.57-1.x86_64.rpm
chromium-pepper-flash won't install because the md5 checksum is invalid:
==> Validating source files with md5sums...
    google-chrome-unstable_current_amd64.deb ... FAILED
    LICENSE.txt ... Passed
==> ERROR: One or more files did not pass the validity check!
This leaves me with three questions:
Does this happen often, or is it a freak coincidence that both recommended Flash packages are broken on the first day I start using Arch?
I can probably find the proper package file for chromium-pepper-flash-stable, but what is recommended practice for installing it (if I am in a hurry, or just impatient)? Should I hack the PKGBUILD file myself?
Should I flag these packages as out-of-date in AUR?
    Thanks!
Last edited by mhelvens (2013-12-04 22:51:39)

Yes, edit the PKGBUILD yourself. Both the link and the checksum.
Have a look at the comments: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/chro … mments=all Being broken is not an uncommon occurrence for this package.

  • Chromium + pepper flash + pulseaudio = static/crackling noise.

With pulseaudio and chromium+pepper flash from the AUR I get static/crackling noise in the audio. If I disable pulse and just use alsa I don't receive any static/crackling noise... Is there any way to fix it?

Did you already play with the "tched=0 option" and the other pointers mentioned in https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=164959 ?

I use chromium-pepper-flash and today there was an update, but the install script has errors.
Sorry for the locale, but summarized it said cat and sed didn't find a file.
Probably the chromium-pepper-flash.install cannot find the $_default as it says
    [ -f etc/chromium-browser/default ] && _default='etc/chromium-browser/default'
    [ -f etc/chromium-dev/default ] && _default='etc/chromium-dev/default'

    Anyways the installation was successful.

  • Jagged edges on text when printing from InDesign

When I print text from InDesign, it prints with rough edges. This happens with text created in InDesign or imported from Photoshop. I can export the same image to a PDF though and it prints perfectly from Acrobat.

Well, I'd say that you should just do your printing from Acrobat.
ID is not really all that good at printing direct to a printer, and it won't print properly at all to some common ones (mostly HP and Ricoh, but not all of either). Are you printing for proofs or final output? I strongly advise printing proofs from the same PDF files that you will be sending out, anyway, and PDFs tend to process faster in the printer than native InDesing files, so you often can shorten the time it takes to get output by exporting to PDF, even including the time it takes to export (plus, export is a background task so you can continue to work in ID, but printing direct ties up the application).

  • Keep image size unchanged when fullscreen the swf movie

    Hi,
i am including a image on SWF file (using Flash CS4) i want images to keep its original dimension whether user fullscreen the SWF movie or play it on windows.
currently i do not have any action script or coding on my .fla file. when i publish the movie and fullscreen it, the image i put in fla file get all stretched out and blur. Please help me to figure out how to keep the dimension unchanged.
    Thank you

All you have to do is to set the scalemode of the stage to "noscale"
In AS3 add the following code:
    import flash.display.StageDisplayState;
    stop();
    stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN;
    stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;
There is a similar code for AS2, i think infact its the same this
    Stage.scaleMode = "noScale";
    Thanks

  • [SOLVED] Chromium + pepper = Video @ double speed

I am using the latest stable chromium, with the pepper-stable package from the AUR recommended in the Chromium wiki.
I moved to Chromium as Flash is no longer being developed for Firefox....And Firefox 26 crashes a lot, and randomly, including with all plugins removed. So It's a problem right now.
As the subject mentions....I am getting weird video issues. Usually, the video plays back at double speed, with the associated spastic audio output. Here is an example: Ref: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smCQ2g9L7PU.
This used to play fine in Firefox with the old flashplugin.
In my porting process, here is what I did:
    With no browser open:
    a)     "sudo pacman -Rs flashplugin"
a1)    Verified that flash was no longer operating in Firefox.
    b)    "sudo pacman -S chromium"
    c)    "yaourt -S chromium-pepper-flash-stable"
    d)   In chromium: "chrome://plugins" to verify that flash wasn't showing up.
Arch x86_64 (current), NVidia GTX-660, using the nvidia drivers from Arch...extra. (rev 331.20) vdpau is installed in both the 64 and lib32 variants.
I have tried disabling hardware acceleration in the pepper-flash plugin, restarted the browser and retried. I have tried enabling hardware acceleration, restarted the browser and retried.
Playback seems unaffected in either scenario, and remains unusable.
Gnash has never performed properly for me in any scenario where I've tried it. So Gnash is not an option. Gnash has a long way to go until it is ready to be a good drop-in replacement for an official "flash plugin".
So for now, I have to use the smtube for smplayer to view YouTube/major news site videos properly.
I am requesting, please, some assistance in fixing my video playback issue in Chromium.
    Sincerely and respectfully,
    Dave
PS: I'm curious, why does the firefox community appear to be sitting on their hands when Adobe has made it clear for a long time that Adobe Flash for linux is being abandoned as of 01-JAN-2014? I would have expected some really heavy programming resources to be assigned to gnash to make it better, or write some sort of wrapper for the chromium pepper plugin....for official Adobe support.
Is there another reliable flash playback mechanism that I am missing all together?

I agree with ewaller (the new html5 player for youtube is good) but to answer your question I had a similar issue with pepperflash and if I recall correctly it was related to sound issues. I do not remember which package solved the issue but here is the alsa / pulseaudio packages I have installed:

  • Problem of imaq image control events

    Hi,
I use CVI 2010 and NI Vision 2010 to develop a motion and machine vision system.
I got a problem of using the imagecontrol, I can not capture the EVENT_KEYUP,EVENT_KEYPRESS and EVENT_LEFT_CLICK, EVENT_LEFT_CLICK_UP in the image control's callback.
I also tried to use the function of InstallWinMsgCallback (g_hMainPnlHdl,WM_KEYUP,KeyupCallback,VAL_MODE_INTERCEPT,NULL,&hKeyupCbHdl) to install the WM_KEYUP event, the message is captured when the mouse pointer is outside of the image control, but when the mouse pointer entering the image control, the WM_KEYUP  event is missing. I think the image control has intercepted and blocked these messages.
Anyone can help me? Thank you very much!
    Awen

It seems to work for me.  I just tested EVENT_LEFT_CLICK and had the event increment a numeric each time it fired.  I just configured a callback function called "ImageCallback" in the Image control properties, then created a callback function.  I have attached the whole project below.

  • Using IMAQ Image controls in LabVIEW steps

    Hi guys
So far, I was using TestStand 4.0 together with LabVIEW 8.5 and Vision Development Module 8.5 with no problems. Recently, I've updated to LV 8.6 and VDM 8.6. I've started to experience weird problems when using LabVIEW steps with inputs/outputs containing IMAQ Image controls. When I try to click on such a step in seq editor, or try to insert a new step into the sequence, the step initialization takes a very long time (tens of seconds) or freezes completely. I've also tried to upgrade TS to version 4.1, but no difference. Also, my colleague experiences very similar symptoms on the same software setup. The only difference is that on his machine, it takes only a few seconds when you click on the vision step. However, the steps not containing an IMAQ Image control behave normally, i.e. you can't experience any "initialization time" when clicking on them in the sequence.
To illustrate, I'm attaching a simple VI containing nothing more that a single IMAQ Image control. If you don't link it to the connector pane, the VI works fine when inserted as a TS step. If the IMAQ Image control is linked to the connector pane, TS freezes when inserting such a step.

    Hello Vladimir,
Thank you for posting on the NI Discussion Forums. This was reported to R&D (#123249) for further investigation. The only workaround I can offer for now is to work with the VIs from version 8.5 of LabVIEW if they have vision controls linked to the connector pane. Thanks for the feedback!

  • Problems Viewing Pepper Flash Under chrome://plugins

    Hello all,
After an update, my flash seems to be gone.
I downloaded the chromium-pepper-flash-stable and did 'makepkg', but I still get the warning message on some sites and
the enable flash plugin option does not show under chrome://plugins

There is no 'chromium-pepper-flash-stable' in the AUR anymore.  It was renamed w/o the 'stable' part.
In any case, I think fungle may be on to something here... you may have built it, but did you actually install it?

  • I have a Flash Sample to rotate images and text but I not find a way to display special characters

    Hello everyone.
I bought a very nice Flash application that rotate images, and text of any color and size. It use an XML input file.
I've posted here, a complete copy, so any of you can download, view and use it freely.
I would appreciate if any of you know how to do, so that the text displayed, including the characters I use in my language (Spanish), such as á, é, í, ó, ú, ñ, and other special characters.
In fact, I could not find a way to do it, because I'm not expert Flash, and less in ActionScript.
If any of you would help me on that, I thank you implement the appropriate adjustments and compressed into a. zip file, and let me know where to download it, or if you prefer you can send it to my email: [email protected]
After all compressed in .zip format is a very small file: 430K.

    Hello Rinus,
If I understood your last post correctly, then problem 2 is resolved, right?
    Regarding problem 3:
I'm not asking you to share exact VIs.
I just want to see a very simple VI that explains the concept of what you're trying to do, what should happen (this can be in words that refer to the front panel elements) and what you've tried.
The terminology you're using isn't clear to me without an extra explanation.
This could even be only a Front Panel with a few buttons on where you just describe what should happen with specific controls/indicators.
Based on the first post it is not clear to me what you mean with:
    - A "button element":
Are you talking about a control, an indicator, a cluster that contains multiple control?
    - The structure:
Is this an event structure, case structure, for loop, ...?
Is it seems like you want to programmatically control Front Panel objects, which on itself is no problem at all independent of how many objects you want to control.
Please share with me simple example of what goes wrong and explain which things should happen on that specific Front Panel.
This will allow me to help you and also allow me to guide you along the right path.

  • Flash movies in image-control

When I load different flash movies in the same image-control
    (e.g. via a button-click), the browser-cursor starts switching from

    hand)-cursor intermittingly, without stopping.
When I load the same movie over the existing one in the

Seems like I have to unload the old movie first? I don't know

  • Anti-aliased text when exporting PDF to image

I need to be able to batch-convert multi-page PDFs to individual bitmap images (one image for each page) with anti-aliased text.
Photoshop works this way if you open a single PDF, allowing you to select one or more pages to rasterize as separate images, but not when batch processing (specifically, if you use the Image Processor script on a folder of images and PDFs, it will rasterize the PDFs automatically, but it will only do so with the first page of each PDF.)
Acrobat, on the other hand, automatically creates an image for each page when exporting, and can do this in a batch sequence, but the text is not anti-aliased, making the image look like a screenshot from 1997. No matter how high an image resolution you select, the text is still jagged when you zoom in.
So, is there a setting I'm missing that will allow the text to be anti-aliased when using Acrobat to export PDF to an image? I am using Acrobat 8, not 9, so something might have changed in the newest version.

Not sure about Acrobat Pro 8, but in Acrobat Pro 9 (not Extended) you can Export>Image>Multiple Choice: JPEG, JPEG2000, PNG, TIFF.  I used JPEG and under the options in the export dialog box, leave the filename as is to coincide with the PDF filename and then choose Maximum Resolution under File Settings: Grayscale (JPEG, Quality:Maximum); Color (JPEG, Quality:Maximum) . . . skip down to Conversion Colorspace: Determine Automatically and Resolution choose 600pixels/inch for a letter size document.  This will result in a file size of 1.3MB per JPEG image if there is not a lot of information on the page.  I chose a simple header, footer with page numbering, and 5 lines of Lorem Ipsum text.  600dpi is overkill, you can go for 300dpi and still result in a decent image that will be able to be printed on a laser photocopier that is connected to a production computer.  Obviously if you are printing to a laser printer or a high quality inkjet 300dpi will suffice as well for a letter sized document.  But I have been told that 300dpi is not a standard rule of thumb and you must obtain specs from your printer since he/she can calculate by very strict rules the dpi you need for your content.  It depends on whether you have background images such as watermarks and also if your text body contains line-art.

pixelation problems occurs in my videos when using adobe flash but using chromes pepper flash no problemes so its definitely adobe problems on my WIndows 8.1

    Problem is:
Flash Player for IE11 (which is the worst browser ever developed - BAR NONE) is a Microsoft product, when it comes right down to it.
Adobe writes the base code and yes, they do collaborate on updates for it, but the gang in Redmond alter the plug-in and add "proprietary" code before embedding it, and at that point it's "their baby".
There are two (2) registry keys - 1 for 32 bit IE and the other for 64 bit IE, as well as a KB patch that prevent all but the most experienced Windows users from ever touching the Flash Player plug-in for IE. So there's NO WAY you could have done a clean install of the ActiveX plug-in in Windows 8. Unless you're an uber-geek, you can only update it through Windows Update.
WIn 8 is an abomination and IE11 made it worse. IE has always been the "problem child" of browsers, failing to handle CSS, Javascript, some PHP and most design "tweaks" that good webmasters can use with other browsers, trouble free.
I have IE8 on XP, 9 on VIsta, 11 on 7, 10 on 8 and 11 on 8.1... but they're all for testing only. I'd have to be out of my mind to ever think of using IE as my primary browser. ActiveX controls have to be disabled formost stuff and that opens millions of security holes in IE.
You've got a good video card and a decent sound card. It's a shame to waste them on a pile of garbage like IE, just because it came with Windows.
