Chronological order to photos....

Is there a way to chronologically order the photos in a book and then autoflow them ?

Yes. In the book mode with the thumbnail tray displayed go to the View->Sort menu and select By Date. That will order the photos chronologically. You can then use the autofill mode to put them in the book.
Happy Holidays
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Chronological order of photos

Hi. I'm using iPhoto 6 and see that my photos in each roll are listed chronologically from last to first. For example, photo A004 is listed before A001. Is there a way to change this around.

    HI Daren,
While in library view you can go to View>sort photos>Ascending
this will also put the last rolls at the bottom of the iPhoto window, but will have the photos in the correct chronological order in the rolls.

  • How to keep the chronological order of photos while working on photobook?

My photos are chronologically organized in an album. However, when I chose the album to work on the photo book, they were all mixed up in the sidebar.  How can I maintain the chronological order in the sidebar photos as I work on the book?

Try the solutions prposed by Old Toad in this post:
This solved my questionRe: iphoto book
Actually the photos are supposed to be displayed in the photo tray at the right in chronological order. That's been one of the complaints of many users that the photos aren't arrange in the order they were in in the album used to create the book.
If they are not in chronological order for you try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resided in your Home/Library/Preferences folder, launch iPhoto and try adding the photos again.
Try arranging the photos in the album in the order you want manually, select them all and use the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Date menu option.  Add 1 minute between photos.  Then add the photos to a book and see if the order is what you want.

  • My photos are out of chronological order after the os 5 upgrade.   How can I get them back in order?

My photos are out of chronological order after the os 5 upgrade.   How can I get them back in order?
If its not possible, how do I go back to the old  os?

I had tried that several times with no luck.  Late last night I was finally able to get through  to the Verizon technical support who then called in Apple technical support.  It took 1 1/2 hours for them to figure it out and guide me through a fix.  So here's the deal .......... I use Yahoo mail and had left the "contacts" button in the on position.  Apparently Yahoo likes to go into your contacts and gather information and can leave it in shambles.  My advice is, go to settings, then mail, contacts, calendars.  Select any and all of your email accounts and go in and turn off their access to your information.  Leave it on for Icloud but none of the others.

  • Photos on iphone 4 not in chronological order

I received my new iPhone 4G today and set it all up. I set it up new with the last backup of my previous iPhone. All of my old photos from my previous iPhone were successfully loaded onto my new iPhone. But, they are not in order. I'm talking about photos that I took on my previous iPhone or added to my album from the web and emails. These were always in chronological order - in order of when they were shot or added. Now all of my photos are all over the place with no rhyme or reason which makes it really difficult to find anything. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a fix? HELP!!!

I have the same exact problem. I even intentionally edited all of my photos on my 3GS before I upgraded, and they were in perfect chronological order prior to swapping to my new iPhone 4. Now every one of my photos seems to have no rhyme or reason to the order of the images, except the newest ones appear to be following each other which may indicate it's calculating something based on geolocation or date in addition to the filename, which is just plain dumb.
I would like my images able to be viewed in chronological order and by filename not by date or whatever other criteria it's using.
    Help.....

  • IOS8 Photos not showing photos in chronological order

Photos App not showing photos in chronological order!!
what gives apple?!  I take a picture, go to Photos and since theres no more camera roll, I'm forced to go into Photos Tab, and when I select "Collections", I see the tiny thumbs of all my pictures sorted which look fine in chronological order, But when select to go down to the next level of viewing (Moments), the dates are all over the place!  When I scroll all the way down, I should technically be at the most recent of my pictures taken. Its not, it shows Aug26. Then one above that Aug 21 Then next few are in Aug; mind you we are in September. Then theres Jun 25. THEN finally some recent photos of Sept 26 and 15!!! THEN the next one is MAY 31.
So trying to find my most recent photos taken is painstakingly tough.

Check this thread out. I have mobileme, but this solution worked, perhaps you could try something similar for your Gmail account...

  • Why is LR 3.6 reversing the chronological order of my photos?

This is very odd behavior that started only last week. When I import new photos in the catalog, it reverses the chronological order in which they were taken - i.e., for photos taken on the same day, it would show the latest first. Any ideas? I don't think I changed any settings regarding the importing of photos in the catalog.

    Click the "sort direction" button:

  • Issues with photos/videos not uploading in chronological order..

I have been having issues with Adobe Bridge not uploading my photo/video files (from a CF card) in chronological order. When uploading I select to rename the files by shot date + 01.. etc. For photos the first image then becomes the last image after uploading, and for video files everything is out of order. Not sure why as the only other thing I have selected to add is copyright info. Also having issues with Bridge not converting raw files to DNG (which has led me to use Adobe DNG Converter - not terrible, but hopefully there is a reason?). I think it is a problem with Bridge, as photos uploaded to my website - something completely non-Adobe related are also then thrown out of order.. so it seems to be an issue with files that have come through Bridge at some point. Any advice is much appreciated.

I just noticed that iTunes is now accepting 'some' videos. They are all the same file type (mp4), but iTunes is just randomly choosing which videos it wants add to the Library & not.
I'm still not getting any results when it comes to the Photos.
... and one last thing ... only random songs are displaying the album art on the iPod. Yhey ALL appear in iTunes. If i restore my iPod & re-load everything, some of the songs that DID have artwork appearing on the screen now don't.
This is really messed up! Wonder if the eventual Vista-compatible iTunes will fix this problem ...

  • How do i organize photos in chronological order from more than one import

I photographed an event using more than one camera.  Therefore, I had to do more than one import.  For some reason the photos are in chronological order based on the camera they were shot with.  I have set the "view" to sort by "capture time, but for some reason it is not rearranging all of my selected photos to be in correct order.  I synchronized the camera times before I began shooting to avoid discrepancies in timing.  Please help this is killing me!

  • Get photos in chronological order - PS Album Starter Ed 3.2

When I "Get Photos" from a camera and choose to rename them (with "Name" + 001 option), they are acquired and renamed in no particular order and occasionally have the incorrect date.
For example, I took 5 photos on 2/21, 4 photos on 2/22, and 3 photos on 2/23 (today).  When I imported them into Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2 and sort them by date, the filename numbers are in an almost random order, e.g. 2009Feb018, then 2009Feb002, then 2009Feb012 are the names of 3 photos taken within minutes of each other.
In addition two of the 4 photos taken 2/22 show a date of 2/21.
When I download photos from my camera to Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2, how do I get them to download in chronological order?
Thanks very much for any help!
    Operating System: Windows XP
    Browser: Mozilla

    Hi ,
The date by which the images get sorted is the date of import and not the date these images were shot. I don't think that PASE has the functionality to sort the images in chronological order. This functionality is available in Photoshop Elements though.
    Cheers!!

  • Import photos looses chronological order

Hi. All i have two sets of photos from the same holiday (taken with different cameras). i want to make a slideshow of both sets, but so the photos are in chronological order.
SO i copied all the photos into the same folder, and clicked arrange by data modified. this shows them in the correct order. Then i select all, adn drag them into imovie hd 06, and it looses the order. it appears to be completely random.
imovie 08 does this fine but lacks too many features that i need.
is there any way to sort the pictures once they're in imovie?

I think Frank has the right idea. The easiest fix would be to import the photos into iPhoto. You can drag your folder directly into the Source Pane (left column) of the iPhoto window to get those photos placed into an Album at the same time as they are imported. View the album and sort it chronologically. The album will be listed in the Photos pane inside your iMovie project. (Click the Media button, then Photos, then scroll down through the album list under iPhoto.) All you have to do is select the album, drag into your Time Line, and the photos should import to your movie in the same order.
    Regards.

It is much easier to use 3rd party apps like Photo Manager Pro. Just drag them to the right order.

  • IOS 5 sorts photos randomly. How do I get back to viewing them in chronological order?

iOS 5 sorts photos randomly. How do I get back to viewing them in chronological order?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
