CICS/Adabas connection

Hi :
We are trying to access an Adabas DB (running in an MVS mainframe) from a
Forte application. We have CICS on the mainframe and CICS NT in an Forte
node.
To connect CICS NT with Mainframe we use SNA .(There in no TCP/IP on our
mainframe). Forte interacts with CICS NT using the NTLISTEN program from
Forte shareware.
I have the next questions:
Has somebody tried a similar connection?
What kind of programs have you running on host?
Do you need some FRONTEND program on host?
Do you use APPC? (single or parallel sessions?)(any considerations with
Logmodes?)
What about the throughput?
Thanks in advance.

The only what I know is, there was a gateway access to Adabas:
"Procedural Gateway for APPC provides RPC capability via PL/SQL to execute
CICS, IMS/TM, and IDMS/DC transactions accessing virtually any mainframe data
source including Adabas, CA-IDMS, IMS, VSAM, DB2 and DatacomDB"
But language is PL/SQL, not C.

  • Mainframe (CICS) adapter connectivity?

I have not been able to find, if there is any built in way to talk to a legacy mainframe through the Oracle BPEL system.
Please enlighten me if there is, and I am just not finding it.
Other than a 3rd party adapter...
    Eric

Please look at Oracle Adapters at the following URL:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/integration/adapters/index.html
There is an Oracle Adapter for CICS, which integrates with both Oracle BPEL Process Manager and OracleAS. If you're looking for specific ways to integrate CICS with BPEL, click on the Adapter Tutorials link on the above page, and then refer to Tutorial 2: Invoking a CICS transaction through the Oracle AS Adapter.
Let me know if you need more information.

  • Can please help me in configuring IP-DLC link services and APPC/LU 6.2 protocol to connect to CICS system on mainframe?

    Hi Stephen,
I am using HIS 2013 evaluation version to connect to IBM mainframe CICS system. I need  brief information on the steps to follow to configure APPC/LU 6.2 protocol and configure Local and Remote LU's.
I also need to know how to test it once i configure. later I need to write a .Net application using Transaction Integartor to connect to CICS system.
Please help me on understanding and configuration.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Pradeep,
I would recommend you to read the IPDLC Whitepaper available on
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17441
This gives you some advise how to setup a IPDLC aka. Enterprise Extender connection to your mainframe.
Once this has been setup you may want to take a look at the HIS 2013 SDK available on
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=41557
Please with the ApplicationIntegrationStarterGuide to understand all the changes and news coming with HIS 2013 in order to write a TI SNA Link/User application.

    "ETW000  [dbsdbsql    ,00000]  *** ERROR => Connect to database failed, rc = -4008 (POS(1) Unknown user name/password combination)".
In the past we think that somebody has changed the passowrd of user SAP<SID> and SUPERDBA.
    How can we proceed?
    Regards,

So did someone change the password? If yes, you need to reflect that change in the XUSER file:
    With
    xuser list | more
you can find out all users that are created.
    use
    xuser -U DEFAULT -u SAP<SID>,<newpassword> -d <SID> -n <host> set
    to set the new password.

  • Mainframe CICS connectivity

In Oracle Service Bus (OSB), if I need to make outbound CICS calls from Business Service how would I go about doing it? Is there an adapter available from Oracle or a third party that will work with OSB 10.1.3.1 (R3)?
    What options do I have?
    Thanks!

Yes Oracle has adapter CICS that is certified with BPEL/Mediator.
But this adapter is not released with SOA 11G.
Even after release, OSB JCA transport need to certify with this Adapter (Currently JCA transport only certified with Oracle AQ,Oracle E-Biz,DB) .
These are the few options I can think of
    1) Ask Oracle to support JCA transport with CICS adapter. You can talk your requirement to Oracle Sales representative who can forward this to Adapter Product Management .and get back to you if Oracle can accommodate your request in the time frame you are looking. In this case Support would be through Oracle though Attunity is the OEM.
    2) iWay is also one of the reputed Oracle Member Partner whom you can approach for the MainFrame CICS adapter.
http://www.iwaysoftware.com/solutions/adapters_for_partners/oracle.html . If this is the case support/certification would be through iWay rather than Oracle.
    Thanks

  • SOA of Mainframe: Connection to Adabas/Natural

Natural/Adabas modernization seems to be coming up on our radar a lot these days.
Of course, one option is to modernization/migrate the Natural application and Adabas to Oracle and Java (and get a nice grid play). However, there are some SOA strategies, for accessing both the data and the functional layer if the client chooses to keep their application on the mainframe.
We have several partners that can provide direct access to the data layer and the application layer. Depends on what you want to get to, of course.
So, if you find Natural/Adabas, we can, in fact, interact at several levels.

Building a SOA Environment against Adabas/Natural can be done through a number of options: Integration using one of our validated modernization partners (see http://www.oracle.com/goto/oma), replacing Adabas with Oracle 10g database and porting the Natural application, using a persistency layer such as Oracle TopLink to provide a Natural to Java bridge.

  • Resilient connections to EIS

    Hi all,
I've got a question regarding designing a weblogic-based solution that needs to talk to an EIS.
Basically we have a new system that also needs to keep an old system up to date for an interim period. In order to do this the new system is placing messages representing transactions onto a queue to be processed asynchronously. We are currently considering 3 options:
    - Message driven beans using JCA
    - WLI process using JCA
    - Writing our own message consumer which manages threads to write to the backend (the reason for this will become clear below)
Basically the worry we have is that the backend may become unavailble (planned or unplanned) and we're worried that an MDB or WLI solution has no way of automatically stopping processing and then automatically picking it up again once the EIS comes back. We bascially don't want to get into a situation where we have a pool of MDBs (for instance) continually trying and failing to connect to the backend (filling the logs and wasting resources). The roll-your-own solution was therefore to enable us to control the number of threads that were attempting to connect by recognising failures and closing down all but one polling thread until we got a response again.
This RYO approach feels really wrong, though, and it seems that WLI must have something in it to cope with this kind of failure situation. I have seen some stuff in the docs about automatically suspending and then restarting processing but am unsure if any adapters support this model. For information we are currently looking to connect to an Adabas/Natural backend via either 3270, CICS or direct natural connections.
Hope someone can help on this !
    Thanks
    Ian

    It depends.
I was assuming they had area 0 at both DCs as you mentioned that.
You should really use two areas and then they would need to filter your routes because you would be injecting them into one area on one link and then they would be sending them to you on the other link.
The problem arises if each of their DCs is using different areas.
So say the main DC is area 0 and the backup DC is area 1.
All OSPF areas need to be directly connected to area 0 and obviously this wouldn't happen on the link to the area 1 DC if you use your own area.
You can use virtual links but you should avoid these if possible.
If you simply use their existing areas at your end then that means you are going to receive type 1 and type 2 LSAs as well.
I don't think I can give you a definitive answer because there are too many variable in terms of OSPF areas, summarisation etc.
Are the subnets within your main and backup DC different and the same question for their DCs ?
Depending on the answers to the above it may make more sense to run EIGRP across those links using summary addresses at your end for the subnets and let them do the redistribution because EIGRP does not have the same issues with areas.
I cannot see how that would affect their VRFs and even if it did they can always create a non VRF interface for the exchange of routes
I'm happy to help out further when you get more information but I think you need to talk with the other network guy especially about how the OSPF connections are going to work.

  • ABAP Report in CIC

I have configured an action box for the CIC, but my requirement is to display a custom report from R/3 in the user screen, I created a new bussiness object in (SWO1) and created a new method with the single line:
    CALL TRANSACTION 'ZXXX'.
I already put this method in a new transaction for the action box, but when I try to run the method the system display this message:
RFC system Error: Screen output without connection to user
    Any help?
    It would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hello Alejandro
I really do not know what CIC means yet the RFC failure message points to the following point:
    - You try to start (and display) a report on a remote system yet the RFC user in the RFC destination is not of type "Dialog" (but, most likely, of type "Communications", i.e. a technical user).

    your MessageDrivenBean implements the method:

but the interface javax.jms.MessageListener has this method:
    public void onMessage(Message m)
so you have to change your code.

  • CIC and CAD (CTI Integration)

    Hi,
I am new in the topic of CIC enhancements and now I have to create the following functionality:
I want to use the confirm button in the BP Search of the CIC to sent the business partner information back to the connected CTI.
This information is then used to launch an additional piece of software which shows additional bp information.
Can anyone give me some hints about the CIC eventhandling and where to find the correct eventhandlers for enhancements?
Does anyone know how to start CIC enhancements?
Does anyone know how to use the CAD mechanism for sending data to the CTI?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Combine 2 computers ea with GPIB-USB-HS connected to different calibrators into one system

I’ve got 2 separate systems: Computer A fitted with a GPIB-USB_HS+ controller and connected to a calibrator A and bench multimeter A, and Computer B fitted with a GPIB-USB_HS+ controller and connected to calibrator B and bench multimeter B. To enable computer A to gain access to calibrator B and bench multimeter B (and visa versa) I want to interconnect the 2 systems with a GPIB cable. Will it work?

Since there can only be one CIC, you just can't connect the cables. Your software on both pc's will have to detect if the other program is running and make the controller on the non-running pc not to be CIC.
Your other option is to remotely control the other pc's instruments with VISA Server if there is a network connection. You would still need some means of checking if a program is running on the other pc.

  • BP Search in CIC with CTI

    Hi,
perhaps you are able to help.
In CIC whenever you search for a BP manually and get more than one BP a popup is coming up automatically, showing the search result.
If a CTI is connected to the CIC and the search for telephone number will result in more than one, the user gets only informed about that in the call state but the popup is not coming automatically.
And thats what I try to achieve.
I am able to open the popup because of the event BUPA_MULTIPLE_HIT and changing the searchtype to NORM. But selecting a BP in the popup will not bring this to the BPSearch fields.
Does anyone has an idea on how to get this work?
    Thanks

    Hi ,
You can use TREX Bupa search functionality by indexing all the business partners in the crm system .you need to connect CRM to TREX and need to do the full indexing of BPs then the account identification profile is integrated to the trex speed search where in you can.
the trex bupa search requires enterprise intelligence customiseing settings in spro of crm system then you need to establish the connectivity between the systems then you can search for BP in ic webclient profile much faster.
