Cinema HD Display cable length

Hi,
Does someone know the cable length of these displays ? measured from back of display to end of DVI connector

I have the same problem too with my Apple 30" display (a year old) and my Mac Pro (a month old). It never used to do this and now it does it regularly whenever the macpro goes to sleep. It tries to come on if I play with the keyboard or by clicking with the mouse but the display will not come back on. It is quite a pain in the arse to restart or reboot constantly. Have checked the software and it is up to date, drivers are up to date. Would appreciate any help.
Namaste....

  • Mini Display cable length

Can anyone tell me how long exactly the mini display cable is for the 24 inch dispaly.
    tks

Just measured mine at 43.75" from rear of monitor to tip of Mini DisplayPort connector.
Inexpensive extensions are available for these (and necessary in my case).

  • Multiple 30" Cinema Displays, cable length too short

I have two 23" Cinema Displays, and they work great! Power adapters have long clean leads and can put them away from my G5 and place the displays where I want. Then I bought a 30" Cinema Display to try in prep for a "Nehalem" machine. I discovered that the power adapter has to be 6 inches away from the back of the computer and the monitor cable is SHORT. I want to use two 30" displays, but the cables are too SHORT and I don't want those two white bricks (power adapters) behind a new Nehalem. Apple says you can run up to eight 30" displays, with the necessary video cards, but no mention how to reach the second display let alone the 8th display!! Does Apple have cables in a male-female configuration? I have looked at Gefen.com and their extensions are Male-Male for the Apple Combo Extension Cables for dual link (30"). I could say demeaning things right now, but I won't.

Thank you for the quick reply, I can place the power adapter where I want with your solution. You would have posted if you knew about an extension with an "elegant breakout for connection to DVI, USB and FireWire ports" but I will still ask if you know of that kind also so that all monitors have USB and FireWire.

  • Why Does The Display Cable Length Change Screen Resolution?

I have a Power Mac running two 23" Samsung Displays using 6' cables.  This has worked fine for 3 years. Recentily I tried to use 15' cables, but it changes the resolution of the displays.  The resolutions are not even the same.
Any ideas on this?  The 1st image shows the screen resolutions with the shorter cables.  The 2nd image shows the resolutions with the longer cables.
    Thanks!

Do not use the menuBar item for debugging. It shows only "greatest hits". The full range you can select from will be shown in:
    System Preferences > Displays
The DVI connector on the computer outputs a "regular" VGA signal in the blade at the end and the four pins around it, plus H-Sync (which is in the top row of the grid next to them). Its "adapter" just swaps the signals around.
The Mini DisplayPort adapter asserts a signal to the Mini DisplayPort which requests VGA-compatibility mode, and the interface produces an approximation of VGA.

  • Apple 30" display cable length

I have a very simple question, but so far I've been stumped finding the answer (I have spent a better part of an hour searching this forum and googling -- no luck!). And my question is: how long is the video cable on a 30" ACD? My Mac Pro sits in a corner underneath my rather large desk and the cable needs to be at least 4 feet long (preferably >4.5 feet).

Alright, now that everybody's had their turkey and the football game is over, can someone please get off the couch, find a measuring tape and measure the darn ACD cable for me?

  • Extended DVI cable run, 30-inch Cinema HD Displays

Looking through various sites selling DVI-related gear, I see a number of products for extending the cable length for DVI video signals at up to 1920 x 1200 resolution. We are about to receive an a Quad G5 system with the Quadro FX 4500 driving two 30-inch Cinema HD Displays, with 2560 x 1600 resolution. Is there any product that will extend the default cable length for such a display at its native resolution, even if the added distance is less than that offered for lower-resolution displays?

  • Can 23" cinema HD Display support Game systems connectivity

I currently have my display connected to my MacBook but space is a factor at my dorm. Can I use my Apple 23" Cinema HD Display to connect my xbox 360? I bought a DVI to HDMI adapter but i get no picture. i also have a xbox VGA cable if i need to go that route. I figure digital to digital should give me a better picture, the an analog to digital. Can my 23" Cinema HD Display support game system connectivity or these older display were meant for Mac's Only?

followup question... Does the 23" cinema HD Display support HDCP? Could that be the cause for a blank screen. the power light is solid. I when to Display settings and lower resolution on the monitor, still no picture?

  • Just got iMac 21.5 can't get image on Apple Cinema HD display - is it thunderbolt issue?

I just got my new iMac 21.5" desktop and tried to connect my 21" Apple cinema HD display. I have power to the external display but no image - screen blank. I'm wondering if it is a cable issue even though the adapter I used to connect this monitor to my MacBook Pro fit the thunderbolt port - is this a port or adapter issue?

In continuing my research on this topic, I found this article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5198
Short version, the 23" Cinema HD is among one of several older "vintage" Apple displays that are no longer supported under Mavericks. No brightness control, and it's likely to not work reliably at all. I can't say why I was able to use it for as long as I did with no problems. I take all this to mean that the display itself works fine, but not with my new MBP Retina.
Though a tempting excuse to spend another grand on a 27" Apple Thunderbolt display, I opted for a $250 HDMI monitor from Fry's instead.

  • Cinema HD Display not working - flashing lights

    Hi
Ii have two 23" cinema HD displays on the mac listed below. they have worked fine for ages, but today i turned on and one of the displays did not come on, instead the power light flashed periodically with a long pause then a short flash, long flash and short flash.
i have searched for solutions and i found this article for LCD displays:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2811
which stated that this kind of flash means the power adapter isnt working, but i tried swapping the adapted/power cord with the other display without luck.
    this other article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA40898?viewlocale=en_US
which states it may be the backlight, but i wanted to try here to see if there was any other potential solutions, if not whats my best bet with getting it resolved?
    things ive tried:
i tryed the problem display on it's own to make sure it wasnt a problem with having dual screens, it still didnt work.
I tryed swapping the power adapter, the adapter seemed to work fine with the working monitor, and the other one didnt help with the faulty display.
I tryed both display sockets in the back of the mac to make sure the connection to the mac wasnt the problem.
i thought the cable which runs to the display to the power adapter may be worth trying to swap, but while i thought this was removable i couldnt seem to disconnect it from the back of the display and didnt want to pull too hard incase i broke it is it fixed?

I had the same issue and appreciate your links, thanks. However the indication (short-long-short) was not accurate. I switched adapter with no luck, but when I switched to another 23" Cinema Display it worked fine as in your experience.
There has to bee something else wrong with our monitors. I was lucky, we had two others standing around so I'm all set.
I have no other information that might help you, sorry.

  • Cinema 20 display color monotone

I disconnected my cinema 20" display to plug into a older Mac to check for files.
After re-connecting to my Mac Pro 2.66 GHz the color is way off.
It is more of a monotone then full color gamut.
    No reds at all.
I checked the cable connection and it appears to be OK.
What can I do to correct this?

  • Display cable too short

does anyone find the apple led cinema display cable too short, any solutions, extension cables available? I use 2 of them for editing and can't fit them because of short cables

I use the Dr. Bott 2m extension cables.  But they are not the only ones that make monitor extension cables.
Google: apple  27" led display extension cable
Note these are for the older apple 27" LED display with a mini-displayport.  Is that what you have or the newer thunderbolt 27" display?  At the moment a quick google search did not turn up any TB extension cables.

  • HT1338 How to connect my MacBook Pro to my 23" Cinema HD Display?

My MacBook Pro has a Thunderbolt port and I have just bought a Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adaptor to connect to my 23" Cinema HD Display which works fine on my old MacBook Pro.
However, although my new MBP can detect the display, the monitor does not switch on and there is no sign of life.
    Any thoughts, please?

Here you go - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5019 - Use Video Mirroring.. if it fails
    - Shutdown disconnect the power for the cinema display, leave the mag safe on the MBP reset the smc - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

  • Is it possible to connect MBPR with Cinema HD Display 30" 's Firewire Port for iSight

I want to buy a external iSight for my old Cinema HD Display 30" ,as i don't have enough space to open my notebook to use the built-in iSight camera.
I know they are very old item, but i think they have very beautiful design and great quality, i want to use them
I have already using the 30" Display by Dual Link-DVI converter, i don't have any firewire device, i don't know is it still work for using Thunderbolt (MacBook) -> Firewire800 (Adapter)-> Firewire400(converter) -> Cinema HD Display FW port -> external iSight
or is there any other solution for me?
or should i give up this setting
As i don't want to use other brand USB camera, other brand no need to consider.
