Cinema4D lite to Ae - External Compositing Tag - drifting... help

Trying to finish a job, at the last stages, everything is good to go using cinema4D lite and Ae Cineware. I've set up a couple of video boards and animations in cinema 4D lite (with external compositing tags) and back in after effects extract the camera from the cinema project... but no matter what I change, the position of the 'external compositing tag solid' drifts and doesn't align properly to the video boards... changed it to +Z as other forums suggested but no difference?... I even created a simple new scene, with one plane to see if my project had some setting wrong but the same problem... any ideas how to fix this?

Had a look at all the camera settings and they all match, frame rate of the scenes match too... just did a bit more experimenting with that simple scene with one plane and got it to match by changing the camera rotation order to XYZ (which messes up any previous rotation keyframes) ...AND here's the kicker... I had to convert the keyframes to linear... the default F-curve 'easing' that cinema 4D lite creates IS NOT translated into After Effects! (In my case anyhow) What a pain.

I've got a problem which shouldn't really be an issue but I can't seem to get my head around… I understand if this is a mouthful or I think I'm explaining jargon which you're already aware of, so apologies in advance but it's best that my question's clear…
I've created a scene in C4D which consists of a book opening to a certain page which will have an image on it. As it opens onto this specific page, the camera zooms inside of the image on this page, which then cuts to footage from our edit.
The image which is on the page is going to be a 2D graphic element created in AE, and this element needs to track with the 3D data which was created in C4D so it appears seamless (once the tracking data has been imported into AE and I've applied the graphic element to the page).
In the C4D scene; the page which will contain the image has a null with an external compositing tag attached so that the information will translate once imported into AE. The problem is that when I export my C4D file into AE with the 3D data, the null which should be locked on the page where the image should be sitting, isn't synced to the C4D animation at all and it's moving almost to its own key framing.
I'm using After Effects CC and Cinema 4D R15 if that helps. AE CC now uses CineWare instead of the traditional importing of 3D data from C4D.
I've also attached the project files if it's worth looking at. Files OriginalPageTurn_1.1/1.2 are just XRef links for Passport_1.4

You need to remove/ temporarily disable the Cineware plug-in and install the AEC importer. That's a known conflict.

External compositing tag in after effects cc

I can't get an external compositing tag made in cinema 4D R15 to work correctly in AE CC via Cineware. In cinema 4D I have an asteroid following a spline from 0 to 100% and I need the keyframes for position in order to attach at the 3D null Trapcode Particular emitter with fire and smoke particles. Problem is that in Cineware I don't get keyframes for position of the 3D null.
Everything works perfectly in my Aec file in AE CS 6 so it is not a problem of settings in Cinema 4D. Is it a bug or there something wrong with my AE CC installation?

You need to bake the spline motion in the Timeline editor. That's what happens when you create an AEC, anyway. As to why Cineware doesn't behave in the same way, is anyone's guess. Yeah, perhaps a bug, but what else is new with C4D?

Cineware Limitations (cloner w/ external compositing tag, camera morph tag)

I've made the switch to AE CC 2014 and have been trying to use cineware instead of working with an AEC file. I have ran into some issues though. If I animate a camera in C4d using the Camera Morph Tag, The animation doesn't get extracted into AE with Cineware. This also happens if I add an external compositing tag to a cloner object. Both of these worked with the AEC file, but do not work with Cineware. Whats the deal?!

The Camera Morph uses Python/ XPresso under the hood and needs to be baked. The external compositing tag is somehow borked. You can try to clone it to a Matrix Object with Nulls. This may work.

Cineware External Compositing Tag solid not lining up

I'm working on a pretty simple animation to show off my clients new iPhone app. The problem I'm having is 2 fold, first when I use Cineware, the screen plane that I have an external compositing tag on, to create a solid, the solid doesn't match up to the movement. It lags behind kinda catching up, but not completely.
Second, out of desperation, I thought I'd try rendering out from C4D, and importing the AEC file, but that doesn't even have the solid in the composition? I tried a very simple animation with just a spinning plane, and the solid in Cineware was doing just what I have above, but when I rendered out the aec, and imported everything was lined up.

The compositing tag was working in Ae before I started to animate the phone, so I'm really confused as to why it doesn't line up! What am I doing wrong? Any help is really appreciated!

Ya, I forgot to mention versions C4D r14 and Ae 2014.
Could you do me a favor and render just one frame of the file, and see if you can get the aec file to import the solid?
Any suggestions on getting around this bug? I could step back to Ae 12.2 if you had it work there for you?
I really appreciate the response, yes this is a rather infuriating bug! I'm a couple hours of work and a couple hours of rendering from being done with the project and then this....

Give swipeleft/right gestures to multiple external compositions that are loaded with composition loader by Edge Commons

Hello,
I have multiple external compositions that I load in my Edge project, with the composition loader by Edge Commons.
I would like to connect these external compositions with swipeleft / right gestures.
When I give the containers (where the external compositions are loaded in) the swipe gestures, it
works perfectly. But when the external compositions are loaded, the swipe gestures on the containers doesn't work anymore.
So is it possible to give the external compositions the swipe gestures. And that when they are loaded in my Edge project, the external compositions can communicate with each other.
For Example:
External composition one is loaded and when I swipe to the left, external composition 2 will slide in from right to left.
I think it must be that the external compositions have a function to control the timeline in the Edge Project.
I hope that this is possible and can help me with the code. Or have another solution.

to listen to touch swipe events in an external compositions.

This works great for the composition loaded by this script, but the comp.getStage function does not pick up on swipe events on anything other than the .$("bg") in this composition.
For example I have 30 compositions each with a .$("bg") but only the one loaded by this script works with this script. I am looking for a way to universalize the event listener to work with every .$("bg") loaded into my main stage symbol.
Do you or does anyone else have a solution?

AfterEffects CC opens Cinema4D Lite instead of fully licensed Cinema4D Studio

Hello everyone,
my issue is quite the opposite of yesterday's post by viclio:
I have a fully licensed version of Cinema4D Studio but AfterEffects CC continues to open Cinema4D Lite.
My system is running on MacOSX 10.8.4, both AE and C4D are updated to the latest versions. I haven't renamed the Maxon folder...
Is there a way to manually set the connection to Cinema4D Studio?
Anyone else having this problem?

I'VE DISCOVERED SOMETHING!!
When I run After Effects as Administrator, Cineware uses my Studio version of C4D!
Only problem: while running as admin, I can no longer drag images/files into the AE project manager, they need to be imported manually
Scrap that, I've completely fixed it!
I set both C4D Studio and AE to run as Administrator.
I also changed the security settings for both programs, with all persmissions set to Full Control.
Then, probably most importantly, I disabled UAC for Windows 8.
I didn't just turn it down, I completely disabled it through the registry
Location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
Key: EnableLUA
Value data: 0

After effects cc and cinema4d lite

Hi, after installing after effects cc on MacPro i tried to open cinema4d lite for test.
By doubleclick on the App Icon nothing happens. Are there any additional operations to make it run?

the soa suite normally propagates the ECID automatically in the SOAP message headers. Which version of the SOA Suite are you using?

How to switch to Cinema4D Lite instead of Studio ?

I have a not-so-strange question :
I have a fully licensed Cinema4D Studio installed on my machine as well as the new After Effects CC.
When I create a new C4D file from After Effects, it opens automatically Cinema 4D Studio, which is great.
But what if I want to use the Lite version instead ? Why ? Because I often work on client's hardware, and if they will have very soon the new After Effects CC, I'm quite sure it will take me some time to convince them to buy the 3000+ $ studio version.
So if I want to prepare so work at home, I'd rather do it using the Cinema4D Lite version, because there's just too much differences between Lite and Studio for me to remember.
I tried to open Cinema4D directly from windows, in the install path, at
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CC\Support Files\Plug-ins\MAXON CINEWARE AE\(CINEWARE Support)\lite
but with no success.
I'm quite aware that if I uninstall Studio, I will gain access to Lite, but I just cannot afford to that do every time.
There must be some way ?

Success! It simply scans for the Maxon install key in your Registry:
HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
Delete the key and it will use C4D Lite.

Downloading Cinema4D Lite

Just that, I was wondering where I am to download the Cinema4D Lite installer, the Maxon website is convoluted and says RENDER IN AFTER EFFECTS.. Well, yes, that's why I am looking for it, rendering in After Effects sounds easier than rendering in 3DS Max then jumping to After Effects, but unfortunately, it seems that this is exactly what I might end up having to do, seeing as Maxon's website is completely incompetent at giving real information other than that it is "free with After Effects" and that it can do renders in AE. So far, Creative Cloud told me nothing, no C4D download in there, there was no download link on Maxon's website, so that leaves me wondering.. What the hell am I supposed to do now? Guess I'll get back to 3DS Max, since the information is completely vague at best on Adobe and Maxon's part.

To delete files from your external HDD, attach it to your MBP and drag the unwanted files to trash and then empty trash.
Then you select the files that you want to transfer by 'drag and drop' to the external HDD and trash the files on your MBP.

My MBP will not "see" my new MB or my back-up drive—both connected via a firewire 400 (6 pin) cable. Both running Tiger X.4.11
I have used this cable to connect my MBP and a TiBook in the past as well as to back-up onto the LaCie e-drive.
I have run "disk repair" and "permissions" on both machines.
BTW—"permissions" are regularly out of wack on the MBP. But, the disk is OK according to Disk Utilities.
I also cannot put the machine to sleep after logging out. Has a hard time shutting down as well. Sometimes I need to force a re-boot.
Can't run Disk Doctor because I don't have a bootable disk yet. It's coming via snail mail.
The new MB "sees" the e-drive connected with the same cable.
I can't transfer my files to the new MB nor can I back up.
Is it time for a "clean install"? Makes me nervous that I cannot backup before trying anything drastic.
Can someone please help me?

Put the more recalcitrant computer into Target Drive mode by starting it with the T key down until you see the yellow on blue screen. Then connect it to the other machine by firewire cable while both are already awake.
I hope that you did not do any upgrades while you had external drives connected... that is an automatic problem. Always disconnect from externals and accessories before doing any upgrades. Always back up before doing any upgrades.
Firewire networking is not the same as using a computer in Target Disc mode. In Target disc mode, you are using the internal drive of the Td computer as an external. That should allow you to run disk utility. Do use the proper disc utility version for the OSX version that is on problem drive. ie don't use the Leopard disc utility for the Tiger disc or vice versa.
