CinemaDNG CS5 plug-in (Beta) now available on Adobe Labs

Beta versions of the CinemaDNG Importer 1.5.1 for After Effects CS5 and Premiere Pro CS5 (Mac and Windows) are now posted to the new CinemaDNG Technology page on Adobe Labs.  We have also improved the organization and content on the Labs pages to distinguish between the CinemaDNG Initiative and the CinemaDNG File Format.
We welcome your feedback!
Thanks,
Elba

Loaded on a plain vanilla XP system with no problems.  However, I respectfully request you get rid of the setup 64 bit splash screen, can be confusing to those of us with 32 bit systems.  It could easily be interpreted as indicating one has downloaded the wrong software.

I would recomend not to wait till the patch is live rather get that resolved now, so that we are sure that your update from live works.
Can you please verify if OOBE folder is present in Program Files\Commo

If not, can you please reinstall the CS5 product in order to get that folder and then try installing 6.2 again?

  • Adobe InDesign API Navigator is available on Adobe labs

Adobe InDesign CS5 API Navigator is available on Adobe labs web site. You can download for free.
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/indesign_apinavigator/
If you are an InDesign C++ plug-in developer, you should definitely try this new tool.
The InDesign API Navigator is a tool for InDesign C++ Plug-in developers. It works as an add-in for Visual Studio on Windows and as a plug-in for Xcode on Mac OS X. It helps developers get API information within the IDE directly, including Boss definitions, aggregating Bosses for interfaces, and ODFRC type definitions. It also adds syntax coloring for ODFRC files (.fr and .fh). It extends the debugger expression evaluator to understand some InDesign types, which allows the debugger to format some InDesign types nicely in the variables pane (Xcode) or watch window (Visual Studio) while debugging. In Visual Studio, it enables the IDE to browse InDesign C++ APIs.
Try it and give your comments.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Have you an API Navigator version to Visual Studio 2010?

You have a wild hair about Bridge, Noel?
Not at all.  I like good tools, and from everything I read Bridge is marvelous.  I don't have anything against Bridge, I just don't need it.
As a computer engineer, I use my computer for WAY more than just Photoshop.  As such, I do everything I can to have the operating system (via Windows Explorer) integrate things for me.
For example, via right-click or double-click or drag and drop onto icons:
I access my configuration management system from Explorer (Tortoise SubVersion).
I do searches (grepWin) from Explorer.
I compare things (Beyond Compare) from Explorer.
I start Photoshop and other image tools on raw and processed image files I manage with Explorer.
I start my development tools (Visual Studio and a host of utilities) from Explorer (e.g., double click .sln files).
I access my web sites with Explorer (via WebDrive).
I get file paths from Explorer (right click, Send to Clipboard as Name).
I access office management apps from Explorer (e.g., double click .doc or .xls files).
This is an abbreviated list.  Explorer can be a VERY powerful integrator, and is at the center of my computing world at a higher level.  So now you can start to imagine why I prefer Explorer for image work.

  • Lightroom 3.2 Release Candidate Available on Adobe Labs

This release includes camera support, bug fixes and new features.  Details here:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2010/08/lightroom-3-2-and-camera-raw-6-2-available -on-adobe-labs.html
    Regards,

Lightroom, Camera Raw and DNG Product Manager

Despite the fact that the bug list does not announce any of this, I'm very happy to report that LR3.2 RC seems to run quite a bit snappier in many ways. Local edits are still slower with an image that already had a lot of tweaks applied compared to applying them on a fresh image, but overall the performance seems to be much improved.
Its still early days and I'll have to do some real work but so far it looks very promising. Thanks for the release candidate!
The stuttery cursors of the spot removal and red-eye tool are gone as well. Nice touch. I now have an idea why it had been these two cursors that were different. They are the only ones which may need to change mode if the cursors are run over previous applications (i.e. there has to be a collision test with round shapes other than the handles). In my current testing I noticed that said cursors sometimes can become stuck completely and only move on after a slight pause. I think this is a new bug as I haven't seen it before. Hope it is not Lua garbage collecting. Moving the cursors around shouldn't really be a problem even if there are some collision tests to be performed.
A bug I reported about the spot removal tool not working well in corners also appears to have been addressed.
I've only done a very quick test so nothing is definitive but indeed looks promising.
The only issue that might have gone worse is the jerkiness of scrolling through the grid mode with the scroll bar. It wasn't great before but I now seem to experience more frequent and longer pauses in updating the grid. Please, everyone compare the (on my system jerky) way the scrollbar moves the grid to grabbing the grid with the mouse (move the cursor on a line between images and it will turn into a hand). If you move the mouse while having grabbed the grid, the updates are smooth and allow visual tracking of the images while they move. The movement with the scrollbar is so jerky that I cannot visually track the images as they pass by.
Note that scrolling with cursor keys is very fast without pauses but the movement isn't smooth (jumps with the image height) so again visual tracking is hard.
I have an idea why the scrollbar is as decoupled from the grid movement as it is, but I hope that there is room for improvement. I'd be prepared the grab the grid even though that would mean precision manoeuvres with the mouse, but unfortunately, you don't really get far with this method.

  • Kodo JDO 2.5.0 beta now available

    All,
Kodo JDO 2.5.0 beta 1 is now available at:
    http://solarmetric.com/Software/beta/2.5.0/
Some notable new features since 2.4 include:
    - Queries have received a major overhaul. Queries now support unbound
variables, Collections as parameters to generate SQL IN (...) clauses,
traversing fields of persistence-capable parameters, and more. The SQL
produced by queries is also much more efficient.
    - Kodo JDO EE can now participate correctly in XA transactions.
    - Kodo JDO now includes support for custom fetch groups.
    - Queries and Extents can be constructed for interfaces.
    - Multi-table mappings now permit different tables to have different
    primary key column names.
    - The data cache framework can now cache query results.
    Known issues:
    - The JCA resource adapter will not seamlessly work with WebLogic -- to
use it with WebLogic, it is necessary to unzip the kodo.rar and remove
    empty config-param-value elements
    (i.e. <config-properrty-value></config-property-value>).
    - We have done only limited integration testing with our IDE plugins.
    - Cached query results do not obey the timeouts configured for the classes
    in the query's access path.
As usual, please discuss any issues, desires, etc. on the beta newsgroup:

  • Kodo 3.0.0 beta now available

    All,
Kodo JDO 3.0.0 beta 1 is now available at:
    http://solarmetric.com/Software/beta/3.0.0/
Kodo JDO 3.0.0 is a major release, and contains significant changes to
properties, mapping information, and Kodo-specific APIs. To read more about
these, and to read about how to convert a Kodo 2 project to Kodo 3, see the
    migration documentation at:
    http://solarmetric.com/Software/beta/3.0.0/b1-docs/docs/kodo2.html
NOTE: the conversion is non-trivial, so we have provided a number of tools
to automate most of the process. So please read and obey the migration
documentation, which will guide you through the migration tool process.
For details about some of the major new features in this release, please
    read the release notes at:
    http://solarmetric.com/Software/beta/3.0.0/b1-docs/docs/relnotes.html
The full documentation is available online at:
    http://solarmetric.com/Software/beta/3.0.0/b1-docs/docs/index.html
Some of the major new features include:
    * New mapping system, providing more powerful and flexible mapping options.
    * More configuration options for connection pooling.
    * Configurable eager fetching of 1-1, 1-many and many-many relations.
Potentially reduces the number of database queries required when iterating
through an extent or query result and accessing relation fields of each
    instance.
    * More optimized SQL batching.
    * Simplified package structure for Kodo-specific APIs.
    Known issues:
    * DB2, Informix, and Sybase do not fully pass our internal tests yet. Sybase
is close to passing, and DB2 and Informix probably work in many situations
as well, but they are not yet officially supported by this release.
    * We have done only limited integration testing with application servers.
    * Our IDE integration components are not included in this release.

  • Flash Catalyst "Panini" Preview available at Adobe Labs

I'm not sure how many of you have had time to keep up with what is going on at Adobe Max this year, but some of the keynote videos have demonstrated Flash Catalyst "Panini".  There is a preview download of the future version of Flash Catalyst available at the Adobe Labs site here:
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashcatalyst_panini/
It's beta software, so all the usual caveats apply (you can learn more from the link above).  Apart from the advances made in Flash Catalyst "Panini", the most immediate pieces are that this preview version can co-exist with a Flash Catalyst CS5 install (so no need to uninstall Fc CS5 to try it) and that this particular preview build doesn't open Fc CS5 projects.
Hopefully you find it to be an improvement and we welcome your feedback.
    --Nate
    Quality Engineer on Flash Catalyst

I found a bit of information about serial numbers on the Panini download page:
These downloads provide 30-day trial versions of Flash Catalyst "Panini"  for Mac OS and Windows. You can extend the preview release by entering a  valid Flash Catalyst CS5 serial number. If you own a copy of the  Creative Suite 5 editions of Design Premium, Web Premium, Production  Premium or Master Collection, you can also extend the use of Flash  Catalyst "Panini" by requesting an extension serial number.
Though it looks like the extension serial number system isn't active until later this month.

On Macs, Ian said that the RC replacing the released version is how the Apple Store works.  I had not seen that the install automatically happened, though, is that what happened to you?  Maybe that is also a function of the Apple Store if certain settings are in effect.  It seems to me to be a flaw in the Apple Store or Adobe’s implementation of it if a beta/rc version cannot be hosted in the apple store as a distinct entity from the released version so people can prevent one from overwriting the other.
AFAIK,  this RC has not been pushed to the Apple Store, but the app behaves in the same way as Windows now (download and install, it overwrites instead of installing separately).  True beta's (i.e. 4.0 beta before release) continue to be completely separate.
FWIW, if any Mac users need to keep multiple versions, zip up your 4.1 before installing the RC.  Once installed, you can unzip the old 4.1 and it'll live alongside 4.2RC.

Eric, it's been a few days since the release of LR 5.3 and ACR 5.3, and I cannot download ACR 5.3 via Help>Updates, as is recommended. LR was able to acknowledge that an update was available within hours of its availability, but my copy of CS4 Extended (as part of Production Premium) hasn't yet.
Is there a delay in providing automatic updates through Help>Updates, or could there be a problem with my copy of CS4 Extended?
I would appreciate any assistance given with this, as I prefer the automatic download process, compared to the additional steps necessary when downloading the installer.
