Cinnamon 'sleep when inactive for' not working, but cli or menu does

Greetings,
I'm trying to get Cinnamon DE to suspend after inactivity. It works fine when navagating to suspend from the menu, or using cli pm-utils.
I've tried 5, 30 and 60 minute idle settings in the gui, however neither work. I know I could probably do this somehow with systemd, however I'd like to keep it in the DE if possible.

So inactivity really means just that - the computer has to be doing nothing, not just the operator doing nothing (the latter taking place far more often than I'd care to admit).
Interesting about the energy saver thing, though. I'll keep an eye out to see if there is a difference in speed when the battery is low.

I'm guessing it's a compatibility problem similar to that that T-Mobile in the US has. I'm not familiar with chat-r wireless, but I'm guessing it's not a supported carrier for the iPhone. If they can't tell you how to fix it, I'm guessing it's just plain not going to work.

Playbook requires me to pay for support when it did not work from the beginning and they could not fix.

lack of email app- makes this may purchase virtually useless. because
cant bridge with my bb 9700. maybe twice after deleting from both, and rebridging, i got connections. i cant spend an hour bridging every time. since may this is unfixable. the support people cant fix it after dozens of hours. got lots.of emails from them though. asking if i was resolved. when i answered no, they asked me to do it all again. they have no fix for this.
can type documents, but cant email them to anybody. same with excel. no way to attach documents when the bridge doesnt work.
i am a ceo,and i am moving my entire organization off bb becuase of this.
have spent many many hours from the beginning in may, and now they want me to pay a 129 dollar fee to get support when it has not worked right from the beginning.
i bought an ipad today and i am absolutely blown away by how much better it is in every single way. dozens of bbs are going away now.
slow, no.email, locks up all the time, stand by button restarts tablet, no bridging without total reload on both devices. why would i go through this anymore? it is costing my business a fortune with myself and my people trying to make the playbook work.
we will get ipads and make more money.
i have tried to stay loyal to bb, but after being told i have to pay for support
when i did once get a connection through bridge, reply locked up everytime on an email. could not type.

I would like to add my support to this comment.
Strike 1) Bridging a BB 9700 with a PB is flaky at best. Even if you run the very latest software on both, it does not work properly. This is NOT a user issue but a programme/application issue. RIM software running on RIM hardware and O/S and NOT being able to connect properly = RIM fault.(see my other post: My Bridge connects, it exchanges data like passwords, number of unread emails and my playbook notifies me when someone calls my BB, but it does NOT unlock)
Strike 2) All this used to work fine during the 90d grace suport period (apart from the flaky bluetooth issue that required a hard reboot of the BB whenever the connection was broken in a bad way)
Strike 3) Now, after a PB OS upgrade (which I faithfully applied), several phone upgrades (due to another problem) and the latest Bridge application install, it all doesn't work anymore, 100 days after I bought the flipping thing. so I have a fancy ebook reader, not the productivity enhancing tool I can use on the go.
So now I am stuck with a forum that can't help, a technical database that does not contain this support information and a broken RIM application on RIM Hardware and O/S that I paid a lot of money for. And now they want more to look at this incident????? I am sorry but if this was a problem caused by usage, configuration or any other user error, I could understand it. But this is all completely in RIMs ballpark. I have done everything right. It connects. It just DOES NOT WORK!!!!!
As I said in my other post, an evaluation of the PB in my company is ongoing as a possible management tool by people I know quite well, as I work in the area, but my advice would definitely be to stay away until basic functionality like emails, attachments, calendars etcetera are all suitably solved and usable by the average manager with sausage fingers and no clue about bluetooth, hard reboots and who won't be able to hold down the power, + & - buttons at the same time as the fingers won't fit!!
So RIM, get your finger out, open up an email support channel or get some qualified support people go through this forum and help those people who have shown faith in your products and who now have real problems with your software and hardware. DONT HIDE BEHIND A STUPID SUPPORT FEE - MAN UP TO YOUR PROBLEMS!!!

Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried.
1. Start with the steps recommended in this support article.
2. If your model has an audio-out (headphone) port, and a red light is coming from it, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a mini-stereo jack of the proper size. Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by your warranty.
If there's no red light, the switch may still be stuck in the headphone position. Try to free it the same way.
3. Boot in safe mode. Don't log in; just reboot as usual when the login screen appears. When you do, make sure the words "Safe Boot" do not appear in the login screen. If they do, the system is still in safe mode and sound won't work.
4. Reset the NVRAM.
5. Reset the SMC.
6. Reinstall OS X after backing up all data.
7. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store.

other problem is that the channel DAQmx only works at real time mode not on stand alone vi using Labview 8.2 and Real time 8.2

Check the mute switch along the side, near the external volume controls.

sounds more like Bluetooth rather than moue, but w/o knowing w/o posting mac model type/year we... will... not... know... what you have
All computers are personal computers, a PC though is also "non-Apple" in common usage.
Mac also is platform and OS.

Then there isn't anything you can do about it then. Your only choice is to pay to have the device fixed or replaced. Apple is in charge of that, and as I said in the other thread, this is not Apple you are talking to, we are users like you and cannot do anything about that.

IPhone 5 sleep button not working but theres a tiny crack in the corner of the screen, about a quarter of an inch.

I started to notice that my sleep button started to not respond like normal. I would have to push it more and more times for my phone to turn off. Only the left part of the sleep button works. I have read a bunch of forums about this and people have been saying they got the phone exchanged no questions asked. I am wondering, since there is a tiny crack in the corner of the phone, will Apple turn down my phone and make me pay $49.99 since I have Apple Care. The sleep button started to not work before the corner of the screen got cracked. Bad luck I guess. What should I try to do ?

As I mentioned, someone else's personal experience may not be duplicated. It all boils down to what the particular Genius has to say at the date and time that you show up. The worse they can say is they will not replace the phone under warranty and you would be offered an OOW replacement. If you have Apple Care +, it would be a $50 deductible, where the OOW replacement cost for the iPhone 5 in the US is $229.

"sleep when inactive" and Safari

After upgrading to Snow Leopard. the "sleep after inactive for..." setting in Energy Saver prefs no longer works reliably (ie. almost never) the most consistent way to get it to work is by disconnecting the ethernet connection to my dsl modem. That doesn't always work and somtimes the computer will sleep after inactivity even with the cable connected.
I have noticed after cloning my hard drive and rebooting from the clone that safari is running -no windows open but an arrow below the dock symbol. Safari is not running on my system before I make the clone - i make a point of shutting everything down first.
Could there be a rogue process running around that is causing my autosleep problems? I am running the latest Safari but it was installed when I installed Snow Leopard and that was not a clean install.

I have tried the things you mentioned plus most other things suggested in the forums - including removing all third party apps and booting in safe mode and logging in as Root. (I haven't changed anything in Root - that isnt the problem) The problem persists...but I have concluded that it really doesnt matter. This is not a laptop where i need to conserve power, the screen sleeps if inactive and i assume the hard drives spin down automatically. It has become a matter of nagging curiosity tho.
I did another clone last night with SuperDuper. I force quit everything first. As the clone booted up, Little Snitch (which I have reinstalled - I know that has been a problem for some people) reported that Safari was doing it's prefetch thing and sure enough when the boot process finished, Safari was running.
I can't decipher Activity Monitor ... or Top. Nothing says Safari after I shut it down. Active processes bounce around too rapidly to read.
The autosleep problem does not occur if I disconnect the ethernet cable to my DSL modem -- except sometimes it does.

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)

    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Ipad2 Inbuilt speaker not working, but headphone is working

I am using iPad2 32 GB, 3G + Wifi. updated with iOS 5.
It's in-built speaker is not working, but when I use headphone, sound it working on it.
Please help.
I checked mute button and checked doubling clicking the home button and going all way to the left.
Still not working..

You've double checked that you haven't got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the iPod and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound. Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. If that isn't the case then have you tried a reset by pressing and holding both the sleep and home buttons for 10 to p15 seconds until the Appe logo appears (it won't remove any content). Also when you use the volume switch does it show a heanhone symbol on the screen i.e. does it think than headphones are connected even when they aren't ?

Sleep/Wake Button Weird - Not Working?

My brother kicked my iPod touch 2nd gen off of the couch and I didn't see how it landed, but the Sleep/Wake button is not working now and acting weird. It seems sticky and doesn't click easily, but when I press it, it doesn't lock the screen at all. Sometimes if I click it multiple times in quick succession it gives me the option to turn it off, or it will give me the same option to turn it off if I just press it once. Does that mean it is sticking inside the iPod? Because you normally have to hold it down to turn it off, but I'm only clicking it once.
Snd once, after clicking the Sleep/Wake button many times without anything happening, I pressed the home button, but the screenshot had been activated somehow. I ended up taking about 30 screenshots of my calculator before a boy in my Geometry class fiddled with it a little and I finally got back to Home. What does that mean?
Will Apple help me? What should I do? Can it be fixed? I just got it for Christmas, about 5 months ago, so my warranty is still going.

It may be a mechanical problem, it may be software. Do a restore through iTunes and see if the problem persists.
As for your warranty, if your touch shows any signs of "abuse" they won't repair it under warranty. You can try taking it to your local Apple store and see where you get. Just be carefull about what you tell the Genius.
