Cintiq 12wx Problem

Hello All:
I installed the Cintiq 12wx today. The tablet worked fine, except that now Photoshop and Illustrator crash every time they try to open. I was using them earlier today, so I know the only change to the system was the Tablet. I see that people had problems with previous versions of Photoshop and WACOM. Does anyone know a work around? How do I get my Photoshop and Illustrator back? Obviously, this is quite frustrating.
Jason

Well, I reduced this one to reproducible proportions, and I don't think this problem just occurred today: it has always been there.
If I hit the R key and actually do a rotation, the switch to the Rotate View tool is temporarily, as it should be.
If I hit the R key and release it without doing a rotation, the switch is permanent; I believe this is a bug.
Could anyone reproduce this behaviour?

  • Pressure problems with CS5 and Cintiq 12WX

So I have Photoshop CS5 and a Cintiq 12WX. I use 64bit and Win 7. When I'm drawing, at what seems to be random times, the pressure will turn off. It  might work the next time I draw a line or after the 7th or 8th time.
I don't remember this ever happening with any other programs (including CS4) so I'm guessing it might well be CS5 to blame for this more than the Cintiq. Does anyone have any experience with this? Could it be something clashing  causing the sensitivity to turn off?
    Thanks for your time.

There is a known issue with the very latest Wacom driver for the tablet.
Most people find that visiting the Wacom site and downgrading to a slightly older driver alleviates the problem you're reporting.
At the moment, owing to search problems I'm unable to find the specific thread here that identifies the version you need.  I think it was something like 6.1.5.

  • Open File dialog box in photoshop CS3 with cintiq 12wx

    Hello all,
I can't be the only one with this problem. Whenever I open a file in CS3 on my Cintiq 12WX, the file open dialogue appears on my primary monitor instead of my cintiq. No matter what I do, it always appears there. Every other dialog box appears on the cintiq, except the open one. It is extremely frustrating. Does anyone know how to fix this?

It's okay - we all get like that at some time or other.  I dread reading my posting history for that reason.

  • Wacom Cintiq tool problems with illustrator CC 2014

This is the first time I have ever posted in a forum. I am having the weirdest issue with my Wacom Cintiq 12wx and Illustrator. It seems to work fine with every other Adobe program I use but I need it most for illustrator.
Description of the issue: When using in illustrator (only on the cintiq monitor) any tool I select will flash the Selection Tool. When I try to use a tool it pulls to some point way to the left (off of the screen). Example: when using the brush tool I place the wacom pen on the tablet and it appears to do nothing but when I zoom way out it reveals that the brush has created straight diagonal lines way to the left that don't make sense with the movement of the pen.
I have attempted to fix this issue many times in the past two months. Initially I uninstalled the wacom driver and then reinstalled. I then shut down my iMac and rebooted it. This seemed to work for a while. However the next time I shut down my machine and restarted it the problem was back. It is hit or miss if the reinstall works or not.
I have scoured the forums and haven't found anything that has been similar in the issue. Would love to hear if anyone has an idea. My work and sanity depends on it.
    Thanks

There have been other instances of this issue. I don't remember if there was a fix or what it was unfortunately.

  • Can i connect my cintiq 12wx to my Macbook pro 2011 through the thunderbolt using the mini display port to vga adaptor?

I just bought my cintiq 12wx and was wonderding if i can connect it to my macbook pro 2011 through the thurderbolt using a mini displayport to vga adaptor? Please help!

Yes, it should work with a mini-displayport to VGA adapter.  Since a 12wx also can take DVI you could use a mini-displayport to DVI adapter instead.  Why go analog when you can keep it in digital!
I guess the usb is for the pen.

  • Display Undetected: Cintiq 12WX to iMac via DVI + Mini Displayport Adapter Thunderbolt

Hello all. I'm connecting my Wacom Cintiq 12WX to an iMac 27-inch, Late 2013 (brand new) via a DVI cable connected to the iMac's thunderbolt port with a Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter. Returning a "No Sync" response on the tablet, iMac is not detecting the display.
The cable is DVI-D (Dual Link), the adapter is DVI-D (Dual Link), and the port on the Wacom appears to be DVI-I (Dual Link) except with a vertical socket for "Analog Ground" connection which is missing in DVI-D – but from my understanding this shouldn't be an issue. Could be wrong, not my area of expertise.
However, in the past I have used this device with a Late 2008 Macbook and a DVI to Mini DVI adapter to the Mini DisplayPort, back when Apple was pre-Thunderbolt, same cable and it worked like a charm.
I've contacted Wacom's support, but they usually take a day or two to get back so I'm hoping someone here can shed some light.
    Thanks in advance.

yeah thats how I connect my 24" dell
minidisplayport is the same connector as thunderbolt

  • How to setup Cintiq 12wx along with dual monitors (3 displays total)

I’m considering purchasing a Wacom Cintiq 12wx.  I currently run the latest LR and Photoshop CS5 with two NEC P221W monitors (which I keep color-calibrated) on Windows 7, set up with my desktop extended across both displays.  They are both running at their native 1680 x 1050 resolution (and I want to keep them that way).  My video card is a GeForce 8800 GT.  Dell XPS 630i.
I want to run the 12wx (whose resolution is 1024 x 1280) in addition to the above setup.  The best advice I can find so far on the web is to get another (cheaper) NVidia card to run it.  Sounds right to me.  My question (assuming this is the way to go): how should/can the Windows desktop/monitor setup be configured to handle this?
    My desired Lightroom result is:
    * grid/develop view of image on my main NEC
    * image only on the second NEC (F11) – this is what I have so far
    * editable view of the image on the Cintiq
    My desired Photoshop result is:
    * editable image view only (well, mostly) on my main NEC
    * tool panels etc. on the second NEC (configured via Workspace) – this is what I have so far
    * editable view of the image on the Cintiq
Has anyone done this, if so how?  Also, I’m hoping I can color-calibrate the Cintiq as well as the two NECs, thoughts?
    Thanks.

Thank you Grant for the quick response. Well, it seems I don't know what I'm doing.
So, Mac Pro doesn't have any video INPUTS just Outputs. CHECK.
That is correct I have a six-input-port-selector with one input (SWITCH C2G). CHECK.
What I want is to be able to toggle through the inputs from the HDMI Switch C2G. That way I can use all my devices (Mac Pro, Xbox, PS3, Cable Box) with these monitors.
Since the Switch C2G only has one OUTPUT Slot, I'm thinking I just need to connect the monitors to the Switch C2G Output slot by using a 2 to 1 HDMI Adapter, but wouldn't I lose the true potential of these monitors by not connecting them directly to the Mac Pro?
Currently, I have the monitors hooked up with Thunderbolt/Mini Display Adapters to the Mac. So I guess I would just have to run just one HDMI with Thunderbolt/Mini Display from the Mac to the Switch C2G, and connect the other devices to the Switch as well.
    Jeez. Am I right?
What If I get an HDMI Switch with 2 Outputs instead of getting the 2 to 1 HDMI Adapter or perhaps a 4 to 2 Adapter. Heck. I'm not sure what to do here.
I would really appreciate anyones help.
    Thank you.

  • Installing a Cintiq 12wx on an iMac...

I got a DVI adaptor cable but it looks like I need a DVI-I which I can't find at the apple store. Is this right? And where do I find this DVI-I adaptor?
Cintiq really needs to update their manual to aknowledge the existence of iMacs.

I spent $40 on the cable Gizmodo uses and it's not working. I can see the desktop background image appear on the tablet, but nothing else shows up. All I can do is calibrate the pen and create empty folders.
This might be a long shot, but are you basically trying to use this as a second monitor? Have you checked your "mirroring" settings? Your description above sounds like what one sees when mirroring is turned off. Is that what you wanted? Try turning mirroring on inside the Diplays (or Monitors) System Preferences, what happens then? Mirroring on should show exactly the same thing on both monitors.
With mirroring off, one should be able to drag things across from one monitor to the other and back with a mouse or pen (if it is being used as the mouse). (And if I have misunderstood how the Cintiq 12wx is intended to be used, I apologize ...)

  • Do I need to buy extra cable for my macbook pro 2011 and cintiq 12WX?

    Hi every one,
I want to buy a cintiq 12wx for my macbook pro 2011 and just wondering if i need to buy extra cable to connect them together. Thank you very much for your responses.

For output from your MBP, you will need to tap either the DVI, mini display port or Thunderbolt port, depending on its age/model.  This will connect to the cintiq 12wx via whatever input configuration that they have.  I do not know if they supply and cables or not.  If it is a VGA input, there are a multitude of adapters available.  OWC or Newegg would be good sources to get the proper cables or adapters.
    Ciao.

What kind of cable do I need to make this connection?  MacBook is only one year old.

Yes, it should work with a mini-displayport to VGA adapter.  Since a 12wx also can take DVI you could use a mini-displayport to DVI adapter instead.  Why go analog when you can keep it in digital!

  • Rotate view key gone sticky?

I routinely use the r key while using the brush, to adjust the orientation of my canvas. However, since a few hours ago, the r key does switch to the Rotate View tool, instead of temporarily activating it and returning to my paint brush on release. So, after each rotate view, I must manually switch back to my paint brush, which is quite annoying.
It is definitely not my keyboard, as assigning a different shortcut does not solve the problem, and other applications don't show sticky keys either. Also, other tools, like the Hand and the Eyedropper, work as usual, it is just the Rotate View which is malfunctioning.
(setup: late 2008 MBP with Cintiq 12wx (problem occurs when using it or not))

Well, I reduced this one to reproducible proportions, and I don't think this problem just occurred today: it has always been there.
If I hit the R key and actually do a rotation, the switch to the Rotate View tool is temporarily, as it should be.

  • Problem With Cintiq Pen Pressure in CS5

    Hey folks,
When using my Cintiq 12WX (using the latest drivers) on the CS5 I've found a strange quirk pops-up every now and then: sometimes it doesn't recognize/register the pen pressure and it goes from a thin line to solid flat line randomly. Like if one was using a mouse. I've searched the net to see whether this is an issue with the cintiq; the drivers for it; photoshop CS5 or any combination thereof and to see if there's a solution.
Unfortunately, all I've been able to find is that the issue most likely resides with CS5 and that there isn't any real solution. Here's a link to the wacom forums of a fellow who's dealing with the very same problem: http://forum.wacom.eu/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5606
I hope that by inquiring here, on the adobe forums, that perhaps a solution can still be found. Perhaps someone here has dealt with this and has found a fix? Of course, if there isn't any fix to be found I also hope that perhaps this can com  to th attention of those working on photoshop itself and that a fix can eventually be cooked up.
    Thanks!

As far as we are aware, the problem is in the Wacom driver code.
Please check with Wacom for updates.

  • Problems with installing Wacom cintiq drawing tablet?

I recently bought the Macbook Pro with retina screen. I already own a Wacom cintiq 12wx, which I have owned since 2010, and only used on PC's with Windows, using a VGA cable.
I wanted to install it on my macbook and bought a Mini displayPort to Dual-link DVI adapter, because it was recommended in the Cintiq manual. I have installed the tablet many times on PC's without trouble, and have been in contact with Wacom support, who reassured me that the installation process was done correctly, so that is not the problem.
Since the cintiq is a tablet with a display it must be installed in two stages. The first stage you simply plug it in and the computer will recognize it as an external screen.
then you install the driver and it will work as a tablet and a display.
So I plugged all the cables off the tablet in, turned the tablet and the Mac on. The screen mirrored to the tablet, and showed up in the Mac display menu.
I could not at the moment install the driver, I had no internet to download it, so I waited.
After ten days the internet was fixed. I attached all cables from the adapter to the mac, when they where both off, and turned them on, expecting the screen to mirror to the tabelt as usual. However I only got the message "no sync" "going to sleep" from the tablet wich went to stand by mode. I thought maybe installing the driver would fix it, and I did that, but the tablet still didn't have any screen. However the tablet recognized the pen, and moved the mouse on the Mac screen, with the tablet screen black.
    What is wrong?
After that I uninstalled the driver, hoping to reset and try again, But even after the driver was uninstalled, the tablet recognized the pen and the mouse moved on the Mac screen. However the mac did not recognize it as an external display, and I couldn't find it listed anywhere in the Mac ( take into consideration I am new to the mac system, and did not really know where to look). If I want to install it from the beginning again, don't I need to remove it completely from the system?
When I talked to Wacom support they could not help me much, but from my explanation they figured there was nothing wrong with most cables. The only things they couldn't be sure about was the DVI adapter (which is completely new, and probably not the problem) and the DVI to mini dual link adapter I bought from Apple. However it definetely worked the first time, so could it just suddenly fail?
    So my conclusion.
    - is it possible to reset the whole installation process, and do it again from the beginning, maybe with the same result as first time?
    - Or is it more likely that the adapter is the problem? And which should I buy instead?
    Please help
    Katarina

All it says there is at least 10.5.8. A new Mini would be 10.8.5 so I'd think it would work. You'd need a CD/DVD drive and there's no guarantee how well it will perform with the Intel graphics of a Mini, but I read posts from people in the Photoshop forums at Adobe who use Wacom tablets with MBPs and iMacs all the time.

  • Problems with a Wacom Cintiq tablet after upgrade to Yosemite

I have a 15-in MacBook Pro Late-2013 Retina with 2.6GHz i7 Processor, 16GB RAM.  I recently upgraded to Yosemite, 10.10.2, and then reinstalled my drivers for my Wacom Cintiq 12WX Tablet.  Now, startup takes 10-15 seconds longer than before - not a huge deal, but noticeable.  Also, when I attempt to start the computer with the tablet plugged in (via USB and Mini DisplayPort), startup hangs indefinitely, displaying a blank screen on both devices with only a cursor visible, for as long as 15 to 20 minutes, and never less than 10 minutes.  When it finally responds, it has automatically logged in as a "guest," requiring logout and login again as the primary user.
Anything known about this issue?  I'm a professional artist and it's really spoiling my workflow.  I'd like to avoid rolling back my OS if possible, but maybe I'll have to do so.

    Hi,
I am having that message, always if I delete a Sheet which contains an embeded query.
Even the sheet is deleted, the SAPBEX has information of all the embeded queries, and tries to find the Result area to put the data.
To find out if this is your case as well,
select an empty cell in a Sheet and continue like that, until all the embeded queries are been displayed.

  • Problem With Brushes Pressure CS5

    Hello all.
I'm using a Photoshop Cs5 with a Wacom Cintiq 12wx Tablet (I'm using PC with WinXP).
I'm having some problems withe the pressure, it doesn't work on Photoshop, (I tried it on CS3 & CS5), and I did clicked on the Tablet options in PS.
    The pressure just don't responds.
I Think its becuse I can't change the Minimum Diameter in any Brush.
Plus when I change the Control part to Pen Pressure, a little warning sign is appering ( a triangel with an exclamation mark insaid ), how ever when I click on it [to see what the problem is ,nothing happens].
I have to point out that in the Cintiq Tablet Properties it's all fine, the pressure respond(in the meter)
I tried making a different settings for Photoshop, it didn't help. Can any one Pleas help me?

Usually, this is an issue with the wacom driver needing to be updated.
A few people have also found that the Windows tablet settings can also mess things up.
