CINTIQ 21UX

I have an issue with my Cintiq not drawing smoothly in Flash. I need to sketch incredibly fast and loose. Flash used to work just fine but now it suddenly began drawing really crummy. I posted some examples of flash as well as Photoshop, Sketchbook Pro, and ToonBoom Animate Pro which is another vector graphics tool. I thought the vector graphics may be the issue but that app seems to handle the drawing excellently (now if only it did the other things Flash can do). Here's some examples of how they're looking. It may be hard to tell in these already loose sketches but the performance drop is really a big difference in responsiveness between Flash vs the other apps here:

Does anyone know why my cintiq is causing flash to draw so poorly? Occasionally photoshop will also do the same 'crumbly edges' thing? Any idea how to fix it?

For what it's worth, my model of Cintiq21UX is the original. I just tried the same thing with the NEW model of Cintiq 21UX on a high performance windows machine with Flash CS5 and got the exact same results so the problem seems to be an inherent issue with FLASH. I guess it seems to be a simple case of their own Brush tool being incredibly inferior in responsiveness and flexibility to that of Toon Boom vector brush tools. If anyone knows of a way to fix this I'd appreciate it. I feel I've done all I can and now it's up to Adobe whether they want to enhance their outdated brush tool or not.

  • Wacom Cintiq 21UX not working with MacPro TB!!!

Just got the 3.5 ~ 6 core and 3 of Apples TB –> DVI connectors.
OOOPs! My Wacom Cintiq 21UX needs DVI-I connectivity. So I go to BEST BUY and purchase a ROCKETFISH RF-AP306...
I plug into BUS 0, BUS 1, and BUS 2 and cannot get the Wacom monitor to sync with the Mac Pro.
I get an Apple Logo on startup, then black screen with a cool male voice saying, "To continue with ENGLISH as the main language... press ENTER", or something rediculously cool like that. I didn't even have a KB paired, so... I'm stuck...
    NO SYNC on Cintiq.
Sooooo ~ I set up ANOTHER monitor and use an APPLE MDP —> DVI adapter and boing<!> I'm up and running (somewhat)
Still NO entry for Cintiq in the DISPLAYS PREFS PANE.  The PEN SURFACE WORKS through the USB port, and it immediately brings up "Handwriting Gestures" on OTHER monitor!
    U S I N 6  h N n dW r I t I ngN OW!S 0 0 0Co 0 l (Needs work, though)
Does anyone have any info or ideas for me?!? I'm going to FRYs to get a different brand of DVI-I connector... we'll see. Thanks in ADVANCE!!!

I have not heard of anyone using a RocketFish adapter successfully with a Mac.
DVI-I is a composite interface. It is what is usually issued by a computer output port, but I do not know of any cables that carry it all through, except perhaps the ones that shipped with the Cintiq. DVI-I contains all of DVI-D (the digital Interface) plus it has a set of VGA pins in the blade at the end and the four pins around it (plus one more in the top row of the grid used for both). Salmon-pink in the diagram below:
Click on the diagram to see it slightly larger.
    Diagram courtesy wikipedia
I think they are trying to say you can use DVI-D *OR* use their cable and connect in a VGA that will be shuffled around to come in on the reserved pins on their ONE connector (so they saved money by not having to have a separate VGA connector as well).

  • Macbook Pro 15-inch, late 2011 - Wacom Cintiq 21UX 2

Today i was asked to hook up a Wacom Cintiq 21UX to a brand new MBP...
After hooking up all the cables the Cintiq started displaying distortion, like a noise in the vertical lines of the screen.
Wacom suggests to check the cables and try a different machine connecting with both DVI and VGA so i used an early 2009 17-inch MBP and connected both machines using both adaptors.
The 17 inch worked perfect with both VGA and DVI no distortion at any resolution
The 15 inch could not connect using DVI. Using VGA the screen started displaying the noise at 1344x1008 up to 1600x1200
Furthermore i tested the performance on both machines opening an identical .psd document at 300dpi and when using the brush tool noticed more latency on the 15-inch than on the 17-inch 2009 model. both MacBooks are running 10.7.2 with most recent software updates installed.
Is the distortion related to the Intel HD-video 3000?
Why is the 15-inch not connecting using DVI?
How come a late 2011 model has more latency than an early 2009 model?

Your 15" MBP shouldn't be running on the Intel HD3000 video if you're plugged into the adapter.  Your MBP should automatically switch to the the much more powerful AMD 6750 card that comes with the new MBP's.  If you're not sure it's switching, download gfxCardStatus, which gives you control over the video card.
Getting the right video card to run may cure some of your issues.
A new 15" MBP does not have a DVI out, so I assume you mean Thunderbolt to DVI connector?  Maybe that could be the issue?

  • Cintiq 21ux Color Issue with Snow Leopard

I just recently upgraded to Snow Leopard from Tiger. I have a Cintiq 21ux tablet that is noticeably "faint" now on the new SL. It appears hazy and the colors just don't pop like they did on Tiger. I didn't have this issue with Tiger. Does anyone have any ideas on how to correct the issue? I'm a graphic designer so color is EXTREMELY critical in my day to day operations.
I adjusted the gamma and that showed some improvement but there is still a dramatic difference between my Apple monitor and the Cintiq.
I noticed this was posted earlier but no resolution provided and it was archived.
    Please help!

Something just occurred to me that has happened in the past that when I've upgraded the OS that the ColorSync profile that was previously selected for the Cintiq and/or my main display for whatever reason gets unselected. You may want to look in the System Preferences/Display/Color Tab to make sure that the color profile you previously had selected is in fact still there and selected. Make sure that "Show profiles for this display only" is unchecked so that all profiles are visible. More than likely it should be named something like Cintiq 21UX or Cintiq 12WX which was installed when you set up the tablet.

  • What adapter to use to hook up CINTIQ 21UX to MACBOOK PRO ?

What adapter to use to hook up CINTIQ 21UX to MACBOOK PRO ? Where can i get a good quality one and which dvi model

if you have the latest MBP with miniDisplayPort or Thunderbolt, you will need to get this adapter in addition to one of these dvi or vga cords (I would go dvi) DVI-I, VGA, DVI-D (dvi-i being the optimal one)

  • Cintiq 21ux & Mac Color Collaboration

My Cintiq 21ux and Mac 27" are not showing the same color brightness. It's driving me nuts. Is there a way to get them to show the same color and brightness? Any help is greatly appreciated.

StormSierra, I'm having the same problem. I just installed 10.6 on my mac pro and everything is washed out. I've spent hours trying to make it look like it did on OS 10.5, but no luck. I have each OS on a separate hard drive so I can distinctly see the difference when I swap over. It looks as if the contrast and brightness are all the way up. When I try to fix it, it's way out of range on the colors. I have to stick with OS 10.5 until someone fixes this. I'm an illustrator and color is very important. Please let me know if you ever get a fix.

  • Troubleshoot using wacom cintiq 21ux pen tablet with Photoshop cs5

    Hello to all.
got my new Cintiq 21ux today. ! its my first pen tablet and i really love it !
i worked it perfectly on my photoshop cs4 and after watching some videos and reading articles i decided to upgrade to CS5 and that is when all the problem started.
long story short it seems like every time i open photoshop CS5 my wacom keyboard shortcuts and the pen calibration feat' vanish like i never did them and i need to re do them again from scratch.
to be more percise with my broblem:
I spent about an hour fixing the all the keyboard shourcuts on the Wacom "Tablet Properties Shortcut" menu (from the control panel) and i calibrated the pen.
after installing photoshop CS5 I lunched it and when i grabe my pen to try and work in the cs5 i got a messeage "Pen display tablet calibration reminder". i got the same message when i used the tablet for the first time and to my suprise when i went to the "Wacom Tablet Properties" menu - all the shortcuts i made disapper as i have never done them....
I maid a new keyboard shortcuts for the photoshop cs5 and closed the "Wacom Tablet Properties" menu. i opend it again just to make sure that the shortcuts had been saved and they had.
i opend the photoshop cs5 for the seconed time and when i moved my pen close to the tablet i got again the pop up window with the messeage "Pen display tablet calibration reminder".
needless to say - all my keyboard shortcut vanished again as never been maid.
i am using a strong pc computer with windows 7 and i have i downloaded and installed the latest cintiq wacom driver - the 6.1.5-3 driver version.
    thx in advance @

  • Cintiq 21UX Lines are not smooth in Photoshop CS

Just got my new Cintiq 21ux this week....love it but when using Photoshop CS the lines are not smooth even when I use a ruler etc....have used a tablet for years so it's not practise but the software or something ???.....I do have smooth enabled in the Brush Dialog box so that's not the problem. When I sketch in Alias Sketchbook Pro and Corel Painter IX the lines are perfect and smooth.......Anybody have a similar problem and a solution.....any help would be appreciated...
    Cheers Mike
    PS
I have already turned off double-click distance and have the latest Wacom Cintiq driver version 6.05 installed
My operating system is Windows XP service pack 2

Hi All thanks for the reply's.....
    Dave
    * Have reset my Photoshop preferences and same results
    * Have reset Wacom preferences and settings as per instruction from Wacom...also uninstalled and reinstalled Cintiq driver
    * Have played around with the brush settings...resolution etc etc etc....and no improvement in line quality
    * Have also heard from other people with Cintiq having the same issues with Photoshop
    * As much as I can tell the mouse looks okay
I think it's a Wacom Cintiq Driver issue as my previous Intuos tablet etc I never had a problem with.
    Scott
*Have also learned from others that other Photoshop versions also have same bad line quality....
*Zooming does not solve the problem as I need to see the whole canvas to sketch and you still get the wobbly lines....
    Phos....
    * If I don't figure this out will have to give a bug report....not exactly sure how to do that though......
    The mystery continues

  • PS CS3 responding to Pen Pressure instead of Pen Tilt, Cintiq 21ux

    Hi,
I'm using a cintiq 21ux with PS CS3. When I choose to have brush size controlled by pen tilt, it instead responds to pen pressure (but still lists the control as pen tilt). Corel does recognize pen tilt appropriately, however. Is there a problem with Photoshop or my tablet, and how can I fix this?
    Thanks,
    CW

Just had this issue with the latest drivers from Wacom (6.3.11-4a) and my old Intuos 3 and found a solution.
It seems any time Wacom updates their drivers, it breaks pressure sensitivity in a random adobe application. This has been happening since.. well.. forever. Wacom and Adobe need to get their **** together.
I fixed my issue by installing an older wacom legacy driver (6.1.7-3). I didn't try any other versions, this one just happened to work for me. You might need to try multiple older versions.
    Legacy Drivers | Wacom
    My Steps:
    - Download an older legacy driver (6.1.7-3 worked for me)
    - Unplug your tablet USB
    - Uninstall your wacom driver
    - Restart
    - Install the old driver
    - Plug in your tablet and let windows do its thing
    - Pressure sensitivity should be working now
I was also having issues with the color picker in Flash CC taking a while to load when using the tablet. That seems to have been fixed as well.
    Hope this helps!

  • How to pair my IMac with my Cintiq 21UX ?

having trouble with my IMac, I'd like to pair it with my Cintiq 21Ux but i don't know how to dual the monitor !
my Imac doesnt have any DVI ports, only thunderbolt, how can i connect my Cintiq as a monitor as well ???
    thanks guys,
    Livia from Brasil !!

You should be able to purchase either the MiniDisplayPort to DVI adaptor (best) or the MiniDisplayPort to VGA adaptor (acceptable). Apple sells these parts, as do some third-party manufacturers, like Monoprice and StarLink.
    Links to the Brazil store:
    http://store.apple.com/br/product/MB570BE/A?fnode=MTY1NDA5OQ
    http://store.apple.com/br/product/MB572BE/A?fnode=MTY1NDA5OQ
MiniDisplayPort is the same connection as Thunderbolt: both work.
The Cintiq uses DVI-I to recieve signals, and should include two short cables: One VGA(male) to DVI-I (female), and one DVI-D (male) to DVI-I (female). If you are missing those cables, you will need to buy the right adapter as well.

  • 10.9.2 & Wacom Cintiq 21UX

I recently upgraded to 10.9.2 and now my Wacom Cintiq does not work. Is there a way I can go back to 10.9.1? Or any other help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sandra

Thank you for your suggestions. After emailing with Wacom and trying everything the guy told me do and nothing was working, I actually called them. I talked to a different person than the one I was emailling with and the solution was so simple, it is unbelievable.
He had me shut down my IMac, unplug everything, unplug the IMac and wait 30 seconds. Replug the IMac and start it up, then reattach the Wacom. Works beautifully.

  • Mac Pro won't recognize Cintiq 21UX DVI monitor

The Cintiq works ok when connected, but is listed in the sysytem profiler and monitor preference panel as just "VGA display". It is hooked up to the mac with a DVI cable and the switch on the Cintiq is set to DVI.
I have a feeling I'm getting poor resolution from graphics apps (esp. Photoshop CS3) as a result of this.
Can anyone tell me why the Cintiq isn't recognized for what it is?

    Malcolm, thanks so much.
I was just having this problem with the Cintiq as VGA monitor, and would NEVER have looked in the box for that adapter. And even looking at the adapter in my hand, I could not really see what was particularly different about it. But I used it and, as reported, it worked like a charm.
The funny thing was that I had been using the Cintiq on my Power Mac G5 for about a month, with no problems, EXCEPT when I pulled the computer out of Sleep, and then suddenly the Cintiq went VGA on me. I'd reboot and all was corrected. BUT the real problem came up tonight, I am just setting up a new Mac Pro, and the Cintiq was just VGA all the way, boy was that frustrating. I was dumbfounded. It's Sunday night, and where the heck am I going to find a clue about all this. Well, the Discussion Forum wins again!
    Thanks again
    Todd

  • None of the radial strip functions of my Cintiq 21UX work after upgrading to latest Illustrator CC 2014 in Mac OS Yosemite.

I can select the different functions for the strip, like zoom and brush size but using the strip doesn't do anything.  It worked in the previous versions of both Illustrator and the Mac OS.  All of these functions work fine in Photoshop CC 2014 however.
Any help would be appreciated, Sam.
