Circular Text in Fireworks?

Ok so what I want to do is make text that wraps around a
circle. Like if you were to handwrite letter that followed the path
of a circle. <-Clarification
Anybody know how to do this?

Draw the circle, type the text in, select both, go to Text
> Attach to Path.

Trying to accurately revolve a circular text path 360 degrees! Pls help!

I'm new to AE so this maybe very stupid, but I have created a circular text path so that may text revolves around the edge of a 2D circle, but I want to rotate it from where it begins from to end up in exactly the same place. Trouble is, I seem to have to use margins to get it to run all the way around the circle, as the rotate option means the whole circle revolves around my anchor point - which is not central in my screen and I can't seem to get it so. Trying to move the anchor point just moves my circle further out and not the anchor point. It's driving me potty, but I'm not sure how many margins = a 360 rotate?! If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. Many thanks,

I'm not sure I am following you . If you use a circular mask as your text path and animate the first margin the text will spin around the circle like the circle was a wheel. That seems to be what you want to do. If you want to rotate the layer then the anchor point and the center of the path must be in the same spot. You can get there using guides or snapping. If simply animating the first margin does not get you what you want then please explain further and send us a screenshot.

How do I add circular text to an image?

I have successfully cropped/masked a circular image, and now need to add circular text around it. How do I accomplish that?

Basically, you create a circle, then use the Path Type Tool (ClickHold the Type Tool to get to it) and click with it on the circle where you want the typing to start, then start typing.
You may create the circle independently and place it, or you may open the Group in the Layers palette, then click the Clipping Mask, then Object>Path>Offset Path by the distance you want between the mask and the circle, then drag the new circle up so it gets out of the group.
You may wish to use the Paragraph palette (which is with the Character palette) to select Align Center and to click the topmost Anchor Point of the circle to have the type symmetrical from the top.
You may adjust the Type relative to its circle, and thereby its distance from the mask by changing the Baseline Shift (down is negative); it is in the Character Options. You may need to tick Show Options in the flyout.

Are we able to Flip Text in Fireworks?

Dear friends,
Need a little help.
Are we able to Flip Text in fireworks, or shall we use
different platform?
Like for example
Have a Small Image in Background.
Then have put Text on top of it .. like
"WELCOME" and then after 1-2 seconds changes to
"Enjoy your visit" And then again after 1-2 seconds changes
to
"please e-mail" and then atter 1-2 seconds changes back to
"WELCOME" and repeats
How can we do this

Creating CSS text in Fireworks... or should I say not.

I am so frustrated with Fireworks. I have the latest update, and I am still having problems creating text and exporting as html/css. I've tried deleting elements I though might be causing issues, still no go. I get either no css styling, some styling or some variation in between. I've viewed a few tutorials online and it looks like it should be very easy.
I should state that I am importing a PSD & ILLIO file (tried playing around with both, and still nuttin. Do I need to recreate this fully in FW? Hope not. Will that even work?
I'm a college teacher and I hadn't planned on using Fireworks, but after opening the Overview DVD that came with the software it looked like a great solution for us designers that don't know much or anything about CSS/HTML, now I'm not so sure... and I need to have this ready for my class Wed! Thinking of abandoning FW entirely, which would be dissapointing, cause it seems like a great bridge between design and implementation.
Also when trying to export slices as PNG 24 I am still getting matting even though I have a transparent canvas and have deselected matting in the preview window. Seems really buggy.
Any GURUs that could take a look at my file to lend some help?

PNG 24 does not support transparency in Fireworks. For that you need to choose PNG 8 or PNG 32. Note that Fireworks is a bitmap and graphics editor with multi page prototyping capabilities. Use it for creating mockups for clients, and images for for web pages. It's not a WYSIWYG HTML editor. Use Dreamweaver to build the actual web pages.

Copy and paste text from fireworks to other apps?

Could someone clue me in on how to copy text out of fireworks and paste it into dreamweaver, text editor, email, etc?
When I highlight text in a Fireworks .png document and try to paste it in a different application it has somehow converted it into an image.
I never had this issue with my older versions of Fireworks. I also remember there being an option of a text editor in the older version.
This no longer seems available in CS5.
Any help would be appreciated.

That option did work in dreamweaver, but not for mac mail, text edit, word, and a browser based CMS tool I'm using.
Seems like a wonkie work around for something that was missed in CS5 Dev. or just not intuitively thought out. Maybe i'm just partial to Fireworks MX, and 8 that I never seemed to have any hick-ups with. I've had CS5 for a little over a month and have already encountered a few issues.

Keep text as text from Fireworks, and not as an image

Hey all first time posting. Anyway I must say I'm simply love discovering roundtrip editing between Dreamweaver and Fireworks, but I've run into a minor problem.
So I create my entire site in Fireworks, import it to Dreamweaver and use roundtrip editing to fix anything up. The problem is that when I create a text field in Fireworks and import it to Dreamweaver, the text becomes an image. This wouldn't make my site very search engine friendly.
p.s. I wasn't sure if I should have posted this in Fireworks or Dreamweaver forum, sorry.

CS5 or CS3... it makes little difference. The procedure itself hasn't changed much in 8 years. Don't expect to learn everything from a single tutorial either. You will need to learn HTML & CSS. After you understand code basics, positioning with CSS will become clearer and DW will be much easier to learn.

Entering Text in Fireworks CS4

I am working with FireWorks CS4 Text does not appear in text box while entering text. The text box expands as I enter text but nothing appears. The text appears in the Layers box but not in the document. What might be happening?"

Make sure the color you have selected for the text isn't the same as your background color. You might also try downloading and installing the CS4 updater, which, I believe, includes a fix for text bounding box oddities.

Broken Text Tool: Fireworks

I started a new document in Fireworks today. When I went to add text to my document, the program wouldn't allow me to type text in the text box. The cursor wouldn't appear. When I attempted to type text the program started randomly shuffling through the properties bar on the left side.
Help! I need text!

Jagged text in fireworks cs6

I recently purchased and installed Fireworks CS6 on my MAC and no matter what font I use the text comes out super jagged. I have used other versions of Fireworks for many years and I have never had this problem.
Any help would be much appreciated.

No, it I have the same problem, it occurs when saving a file with text as a flattened PNG32 on a transparent background.

Blurry Text using Fireworks CS3 version

I'm creating an ad for use in our local phone book yellow
pages using CS3 Fireworks. When I save it in .png or .jpg and print
it out it is very blurry and unacceptable. I made the mistake of
submitting an ad for something else thinking that the pros would be
able to print it out and it would be clear - and it printed
horrible. Why am I unable to print a clear .jpg file?

Yep, it's a tiny image. At 1200 dpi a 300-pixel image would
look good at about 1/4 inch. Maybe 1/2 inch, but it'll start to
look kinda blurry. Your printer may not have the same resolution as
the printer the phone book will be printed on, so you need to know
the print shop's recommendations. Then, do some math. If you know
the size in inches you want your advertisement to be, multiply
those dimensions by the dpi to get the dimensions in pixels to make
your Fireworks document. (Ignore the dpi settings in Fireworks.)
You could possibly get by with something half as big, but you
should ask the print shop for recommendations.
Better still is to use Illustrator or another vector drawing
program and submit scalable art in .ai or .eps format. But, again,
check with the print shop for guidelines.

CS4 Circular Text

I was playing around trying to get my text to go in a circle and I when I was using the pen tool to add points it drew four lines around my circle shape.
Now I am trying to replicate that and I am not having any luck. I've tried using the freeform pen with magnetic turned on but it doesn't give me near as good a result.

If I get what you are asking, the way I do it is:
Go to you Paths palette
Create a new path
Use you ellispe tool to create the circle you want
Then grab your text tool, Be selective on the type tool option to get the text to shape the way you want.
Click on to the path and start typing, it should type on the path. (Or you can copy and paste the type to the path whatever works)
Tip: Not all typefaces work well with this technique some really kern rather poorly, so be open to changing your typeface if you experience real weird kerning issues.

How can I have text curving inside my logo? I have an oval
and text curved in an arc across the top, but on the bottom of the
oval I want the text to be curved in the form of a smiley face. Any
suggestions?

Text measurement in Fireworks CS3

Hi all,
I'm designing a phone app, and a styleguide for the design,
which require all the elements to be pixel perfect and add up to
the screen dimension. There are 2 problems I run into is how to
measure text in Fireworks CS3:
1) Fireworks CS3 measure text in point, not pixel. I use an
online converter but it doesn't quite work. (For example, 17point =
22.666 pixel. Should I just round it up to 23?)
2) Web text is measured based on the em square, not the size
of the character itself. Is there a way to find out the em square
size in Fireworks? (I thought the blue bounding box when the text
is selected is the em square, but I tried taking screenshot and
measure it, and it turned out that it's not the case).
So, to sum it up, what procedure should I follow to measure
text in a pixel perfect design in Fireworks CS3? Thanks.

But what about the tutorial you did for Lynda.com where you inserted the google map within an i-frame? I am in a similar situation where I am trying to just insert a scrolling text box within my layout done within FWCS4 using similar layout. Just simple scrolling text box that's it.
I see what you are saying though. DW is the true HTML dev tool but I'm just having too much damn fun in FW and don't want to leave. :]

Why does my text look jagged in Fireworks CS4?

I have had it up to here with fireworks CS4. I can't figure out why my text looks like my dog chewed on it. If Fireworks CS4 has the same text engine as Illustrator than why does my Text in Illustrator look crisp but my text in fireworks looks jagged. I tried using anti-lising but that didn't help. I know there's been a lot of text issues with Fireworks CS4 but I thought the bugs were all fixed by now. Check out the attatchments to see what I'm talking about.

I posted a similar discussion a few months ago and while many were very helpful with their suggestions I have all but given up with using text in Fireworks.
It just isn't worth the bother when other applications can do text with no fuss and no messing with sizes and resolutions. I tend to use illustrator or dare I say it, Paintshop Pro which produces text easily and clearly within a text box or over an image
I'm keeping an eye on your discussion to see if there are any new words of wisdom. Here's hoping.
