CIS Scanning to folder setup - Clarification please

Hi
I'm very new to Xerox network scanning and am hoping for a little clarification on the setup process.
I'm looking at setting up scanning for individual members of staff on a WorkCentre 7556.
At the moment there are 4 Templates set up under 'Scan' in Centreware Internet Services (which I'll call CIS if it's ok...).
Each is for a department and is scanning to a share on a machine on the same subnet using smb.
There are no file repositories set up under CIS Properties->Services->Workflow Scanning->File Repository Setup but the scanning works fine (except that the share host keeps shutting down).
Everywhere I look up scanning in the documentation / on the web it seems to always start off talking about setting up Workflow Scanning  File Repositories.
What I'm wondering is, what essentially is the difference between these and the way it's been done previously by just setting up a Scan template using smb with server, share, and authentication credentials please?
Many thanks

Hi Pauliolio,
Thank you for using the Support Forum. The difference is whether you are using FTP vs SMB. Since you are using SMB the repository is a shared directory which you must have set up since your scan is working.  If you have additional questions please consider contacting your support centre for further assistance.

  • Setup scan to folder on HP LaserJet 200 colorMFP M276nw

    hello,
I am trying to set up my printer to scan to a nework folder.
    HP LaserJet 200 colorMFP M276nw
    OSX 10.9.4
WLAN (both printer and desktop on same network)
Here's the problem; no matter what I try, I cannot get the printer to scan directly to a network folder.
When testing the connection I either get the "invalid password or username" or the "cannot connect to network folder" error.
It seems the biggest issue is refering the printer to the right network folder.
I've shared the folder, but I cannot get a valid path name it seems.
The folder properties show: /Users/vdlely/Dropbox/max verhuur/Scans
Obviously this is not complete; I need to add the location of the machine, like: //iMac-van-AJ/Users/vdlely/Dropbox/max verhuur/Scans right?
No matter what kind of combination I try, nothing works. I've used computer name, IP, with and without login etc etc
What is the correct pathname in my case?
It would me MUCH easier if you'd added a simple browser to browse to the right location.
Please help me set it up right.

    Hi @Frederikcs ,
I'd like to help you with setting up the Scan to Network Folder.
Here is another post that might have clearer instructions for Yosemite that you may take a look at.
Re: Identifying the scan file for the Laserjet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw on a MacBookPro.
To get the IP address for the computer, go to the Apple, System Preferences, Sharing and then select File Sharing.
You will see the IP address on that window.
This is the information to enter into the Scan to Network folder from the printer's EWS, click the Scan tab, click Network Folder Setup, and then click New.
Network Path: \\computer's IP\folder name that you created.
    Example: \\192.168.22.104\scan

    Hi @Username57 ,
I understand that you are having issues setting up the network folder. I will certainly do my best to help you.
I have provided a document with the steps for setting up the scan to network folder.
Scan From the Control Panel (Including Scan to Email, to a PDF, and to a Network Folder) for HP Lase...
It is usually a issue with the Network Path for the network folder created.
Create a folder anywhere on the computer.
Right click the folder and left click properties, select the Sharing tab, click the Share button, select who you want to share the folder with or everyone. On the same Sharing tab copy the Network Path. (example \\envy1730\users \Envy\desktop\networkfolder
In the embedded web server for the printer go to the Scan tab, select network folder setup, paste in the path for the network folder. Go through the wizard.
If those steps don't work then follow steps 1, 2, 3, to resolve this issue to try and get the network folder and path.
Step one: Make sure that the computer user account is password protected.
1.Click the Windows icon, then click Control Panel.
2.Click User Accounts, then select the account you used to log into the computer.
3.Click Change your Windows password, then find the user account you used to log into the computer.
•If the user account is password protected, continue to the next step.
•If the user account is not password protected, click Create a password for your account to create a password, and then continue to the next step.
Step two: Define the network location
1.Click the Windows icon, then click Control Panel.
    2.Click Network and Sharing Center.
3.In the View your active networks section, click Public network under your network name. The Set Network Location window opens.
4.Select Home Network or Work Network, then click Close.
Step three: Make sure that the network sharing and discovery options are correct
1.Open the Network and Sharing Center window.
2.Click Choose homegroup and sharing options.
3.In the Share libraries and printers section, select Documents.
4.In the Other homegroup actions section, click Change advanced sharing settings.
5.In the Advanced sharing settings window, make sure that the following network options are turned on:
    •Network discovery
    •File sharing
•Public folder sharing (read and write access)
    •Password protected sharing
    6.Click Save changes.
7.Your computer network is now successfully set to complete the Scan and Fax to Network. Folder or Digital Fax to Network Folder Wizard.
One user on another post had to do the following:
There was a problem in the "advanced sharing settings window". They turned it off, the option which is after the 128 encryption, I mean the "password protected sharing".
Please let me know the outcome.
    Happy New Years!

  • Network Folder Setup - "No Write Permission". Windows Vista.

    Product: 8600 N911g
I am having issues in creating a network folder to scan to my computer. It responds ‘No write permission’
**NOTE**Before I allow you to continue reading, I need to first know to I need to create a password in my user account, or turn off UAC to create a scan network folder on my PC? If so, then that is what I need to do to correct this issue.
Steps I have performed in attempting to accomplish this task:
In Windows to create shared folder:
    1) Created folder.
    2) Open folder properties, under 'sharing' tab, selected 'Share' button, then selected 'Share' button.
    3) A dialog window appears and states 'Sharing items', and when it is complete, it states "Your folder is shared. You may e-mail these links to notify people that you have shared these files, or copy the links onto the Windows clipboard, where you can paste them into any program you choose.”
    4) When I select ‘Done’, it returns to the folder properties, and states in ‘Network File and Folder Sharing’ under ‘Sharing’ tab under ‘Network Path’: ‘Not Shared’.
**I don’t understand that it just said ‘Your folder is shared’, then under Network Path is stated ‘Not Shared’.**
    5) Since in stated ‘Not Shared’, I selected ‘Advanced Sharing’, checked ‘Share this folder’ box, and under ‘Permissions’, checked ‘Full Control’ box.
    6) Now it states Shared, and under ‘Network Path’ states the location: ‘ \\ADMIN-PC\ScantoDV9825 ’
In the HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911g, Embedded Web Server to add network folder to scan to:
    1) Opened ‘Scan’ section by clicking on the tab ‘Scan’. Under ‘Network Folder Setup’, the ‘Network Folder Configuration’ clicked on ‘New’.
    2) Entered data for the following fieldsTEP 1 OF 4: Display Name: ‘Scan’, Network Path: ‘\\ADMIN-PC\ScantoDV9825’. Left User Name and Password fields blank. STEP 2 OF 4: Left PIN fields blank. STEP 3 OF 4: Did not make any changes, used default settings.
    3) In STEP 4 OF 4 when I click on Save and Test, it returns with the message ‘No write permission’
How do I resolve this issue of ‘No write permission’?
    Thank you.

    Hi Robert,
First ensure the permissions are also set correctly by right clicking the shared folder, and then open the Security tab.
If your user name is not listed as Full Control click the edit button, add your user name and check the box for as Allow full control.
If that does not help, follow these steps in Windows Vista to make sure that your computer is configured to allow network sharing.
Step one: Make sure that the computer user account is password protected
Click the Windows icon ( ), and then click Control Panel .
Click User Accounts , and then select the account you used to log into the computer.
Click Change your Windows password , and then find the user account you used to log into the computer.
If the user account is password protected , continue to the next step.
If the user account is not password protected , click Create a password for your account to create a password, and then continue to the next step.
Step two: Define the network location
Click the Windows icon ( ), and then click Control Panel .
    Click Network and Internet .
Click Network and Sharing Center .
Click Customize next to Your Network . The Set Network Location window opens.
Select Private , click Next , and then click Close .
Step three: Make sure that the network sharing and discovery options are correct
Open the Network and Sharing Center window.
In the Sharing and Discovery section, make sure that the following network options are set to On :
    Network Discovery
    File Sharing
    Public Folder Sharing (password required)
    Printer Sharing (password required)
    Password Protected Sharing
Your computer network is now successfully set to complete the Scan and Fax to Network Folder or Digital Fax to Network Folder Wizard.

  • HP8600 Scan Network Folder stops working to Win XP Pro whenever Web Printing is enabled

I have my HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911g configured to allow scan to Network Folder with shares on two of my home computers. One runs Win 7 Professional (64b), the other runs Win XP Professional. On the printer's Embedded Web Server, I confirmed that Scan to Network Folder was operational for both systems using the "Scan" tab's "Network Folder Setup " links named "Test" for each device.
Then I enabled Web Printing from the 8600 front panel and returned to the Embedded Web Server to repeat the Network Folder Setup Tests. The test with Win 7 Pro passed, but the test with Win XP failed.
I then went back to the printer and disabled Web Printing, then returned to the Embedded Web Server for a third round of tests. This time both Win 7 and Win XP passed the Network Folder Setup tests, as they did before I enabled Web Printing.
Is this an expected behavior? If so, is the restriction when using Web Printing due to one system running XP Pro or to my having Scan to Network folders set up for two systems?
    Thanks
    Dave

    Hi Dennis,
Based on your description, I understand that you configure redirected folder via Group Policy. If anything

Is there a registry change I can make to redirect the path from the local C' to the UNC path?
    Please type
regedit in Run to open Registry Editor and follow the path:

  • Digital Fax to Folder Setup gives error message unable to establish 2-way communication with device

Digital Fax to Folder Setup gives error message unable to establish 2-way communication  with device. I can s end a Fax and I can print documents. I can also, now, scan to computer. I have changed the phone line twice, restarted the router, restarted the computer, and made sure the front panel was lit when setting up the Digital Fax folder. I am on a Homegroup network, with both wireles and ethernet computers.  When I view the network, it sees both computers (wireless laptop and enthernet desktop), the printer, scanner, and router (VerizonDrive). I recently had to reinstall Windows 7, where Digital Fax to Folder Setup previously worked, and now it doesn't.  The network shows up as Network 3. When I try to view the network map, I get the error message that Windows cannot create the network map. Responses from other devices on the network are delayed or there is an  incompatible router on the network.  What am I doing wrong?

    Hello @JiffyFingers and Good Afternoon
From what you have described, and from the work you did on another thread, I believe you'd get better assistance talking to either Microsoft or your router manufacturer. With not being able to create the network map, that's something a bit more intricate than digital fax setup
You can have a look at this Windows cannot create the network map. Responses from other devices on the network are delayed or th... Microsoft thread as well, and you may be able to figure it out from there.
Hope that helps, have a great day!

  • Canon Scan to Folder (Server 2008 R2) suddenly doesnt work

Canon Scan to Folder (Server 2008 R2) suddenly doesnt work
We have a few Canon Multi Functionals who have been able to Scan to Folder to our Server 2008 R2 File Server.
Since last Windows Updates(13 sep 2012) it doesnt work anymore...
Nothing has changed to the folders or shares. Shares are like:
    \\fs01\scans\IT
    Shared folder is \\fs01\scans
Share permissions are Full for Everyone
On the folder IT, only the IT department and the Canon Scan user have full conrol...
When I turn off the Windows Firewall on the FS01, it works.
Then i get a SMB = OK on the Multi Functional.
When I turn on the WIndows Firewall, i get a SMB = NG on the multifuntional
I checked the rules, and everthing concerning File and Printer Sharing is allowed...
Can anyone please think what to do?
Because  really don't want to go on with the Windows Firewall Disabled.
The Endpoint Protection 2010 Anti Virus is installed on the FS01, but since disabling the Windows Firewall works, i don't think the Anti Virus has anything to do with it.
Update: I just tried it to two other  Servers 2008 R2 (with also the Windows Firewall on) and it works! So there is something wrong with that one Server... But as far as I can see, the firewall has all File and Printer Sharing things open...
And when i log on with the Canon Scan user on a PC i can browse to them locations just fine. I also reset the firewall setting to default and reopened the printers and sharing settings

The canon surelly do a check on another port that is not allowed in your firewall.
Run a wireshark on that server. Filter ip.src == ip of a canon.
Check on what port the canon talk to your server and open it.
Last option, does your printer are in another vlan/lan ? Maybe a firewall rule that does not see the printer in your local lan. Thus the rule might block it now.

  • M475 Scan to folder/email. Was working now fails

    Hi,
We have an M475 set up in an office that was behaving perfectly with regards to scanning but now fails 49 times out of 50.
All staff in the office have a 'scan to folder' profile set up which scans to a 'Scans' folder in their domain home folder.
    This was working 100%.
If I get someone to powercycle the printer I can get one scan out of it. After that, if you physically try to scan, you can enter your pin, it scans the document, then hangs for a very long time.
From the web interface, if I test one of the profiles it comes up with a box with a 'Cancel' button in it & sits there until I click it.
The account being used for the profiles has full rights over the 'Scans' folders.
I have tried with the domain administrator account - Still hangs.
In the domain server logs I can see the successful validation of the account being used by the printer.
I tried creating a new profile using the same credentials. It worked first time, then never again until I disabled Bonjour & WS, then it worked once.
I don't get it - Nothing's changed in the domain. It works very occasionally. It definitely gets a green light on the folder access.
    UPDATE:
Hmm... While I've been writing this it's decided to work (after 'several weeks' of refusing to (why do staff moan to each other about something not working but ALL fail to let IT know?).
The immediately obvious difference is that when I test a scan profile, instead of the box just having a 'Cancel' button in it, it also has an animated 'working' graphic, and the words 'Testing [profile name]'
Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem was (& may well be again...) please?
    Many thanks

    Hello.
I can see you are having some issues with scan to folder/email, I would like to see if I can help you on this issue.
First, let me ask you, what is the operative system of the computer that you shared the folder for scan to folder?
Now, one experiment you might want to try, is check if the computer that you shared the folder for "scan to folder" has any kind of antivirus, and if so, check your firewall settings. If you don't have any antivirus installed, check if you host operative system has any firewall installed and check the rights.
Some times a firewall has some sort of policy to reject incoming connections from ports that are not port 80., and your printer is not using that port 80, which might be the root cause.
The experiment is simple, try to disable your firewall and then reboot your printer and let them to connect again and try.
This is not the solutions, but just an experiment to get to the root cause.
    Thanks.

  • Laserjet 4345 mfp won't scan to folder; web interface not showing all admin tabs

    Hi,
I have a laserjet 4345 mfp which, until a few days ago, was able to scan documents to a network folder. When I try now it gives me the error "the path cannot be found". Here's what I've tried so far:
    - Looked for a way to change the network folder settings or define a new folder. I couldn't find any so I printed the "how to scan to folder" page from the control panel. It tells me to define a new location by clicking the "Other" button on the control panel, but I can't find an Other button, on any screen.
    - Accessed the web interface, which only shows up  with the "Home" and "Networking" tabs - no "Digital Sending", "Settings", or  "Information" tabs, which should be there according to the manual.
    - Thinking it might be a permissions issue, I checked and found that the administrator password was not set. I set the admin password via the web interface, and now when I try to access it prompts for the password I defined, but still gives this incomplete interface. I am also able to access and change all the networking settings, so I don't think insufficient permissions are the issue.
    - Called HP support, they said the problem is permissions and I should cold reset the machine, which I am quite reluctant to do since not only all settings, but the entire address book as well, would need to be re-entered. This aside from the fact that I really don't think permissions are the issue, as decribed above.
    - Verified that I am able to send scans to different email addresses. SMTP gateway test goes through OK. LDAP does not, but this has not prevented scan to folder from working in the past.
I don't know how the scan-to folder was initially set up because I wasn't supporting this client at the time.
    Any ideas?
    Many thanks in advance.

I have a problem with my scan to folder as well and I have to access the folder from a computer before it will work.  I'm not sure why that works, actually.  You might want to give that a try to see if it fixes the problem.  If it does, I imagine it is some sort of security problem with the folder you are trying to scan to.
    Thanks,
    Tiffany

  • Ricoh Aficio MP C2051 Scan to Folder - Windows Server 2012 Error: Authentication with the destination has failed check settings

I have recently upgraded a clients servers to Windows Server 2012 & since doing so have lost the ability to scan to folder.
Both servers are domain controllers and previously on a 2008 domain controller I would have had to make the following change to allow scan to folder:
     Administrative Tools
     Server Manager
     Features
     Group Policy Manager
     Forest: ...
     Default Domain Policy
    Computer configuration
     Policies

     Security Settings
     Local Policies
     Security Options
Microsoft Network Server: Digitally Sign Communications (Always)
     - Define This Policy
     - Disabled
However I have applied this to the Windows 2012 server but am still unable to scan, possibly due to added layers of security in server 2012. The error on the scanner is Authentication with the destination has failed check settings.
I have also tried the following at the server:
    Policies -> Security Policies
Change Network Security: LAN Manager authentication level to: Send LM & NTLM - Use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated.
Network security: Minimum session security for NTLM SSP based (including secure RPC) clients and uncheck the require 128 bit.
Network security: Minimum session security for NTLM SSP based (including secure RPC) servers and uncheck the require 128 bit
I have created a user account on the server for the ricoh and set this in the settiings of the Ricoh and verified everything is correct.

  • CS4:  "Critical errors were found in setup. Please see the setup log for details" !!

I am using Win XP Pro SP3. I have CS3 installed, and successfully installed Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Flash from CS4 Design Premium. Then I successfully uninstalled DW, FW and FL CS3.
When I tried to open a SWF in Illustrator it failed to open, and then I tried to create a really simple SWF (a rectangle) by exporting from Illustrator and tried to open that and it also failed. Whenever I tried to open or place ANY SWF into Illustrator I get a "file *** is in an unknown format and cannot be opened" error.
I decided there must be a corrupt file, maybe the upgrade must have affected some Illustrator files, so I tried to repair the CS3 installation. After over 2 hours of INTENSE FRUSTRATION having to constantly switch CS3 and CS4 disks many MANY times, the installation failed, listing "common files" that were missing from non-existent folders such as "C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Desktop\Adobe CS4\Fireworks CS4\payloads\etc
When I tried to repair the CS4 installation after loading all the profile settings it errors before the installation window comes up, with "Critical errors were found in setup. Please see the setup log for details". Then it shuts down the installer. I then tried to do a system restore and system restore failed on all restore points!
    Please help:
    1. Where is "the setup log"?
    2. Will creating and populating the folders mentioned in the failed CS3 installation from the CS4 disk allow it to work?
    3. How can I uninstall CS4 if I can't even get to the installation window?
    4. Has Adobe just DESTROYED MY REGISTRY BEYOND REPAIR!!!???

im haveing a huge irritation useing illustrator cs4 live paint bucket because i can use everything else apart from the paint bucket which should be the easyiest tool to use sometimes it works with the white arrow sometimes it doesnt i sometimes get this below message
the selection contains objects that cannot be converted. live paint groups can only contain paths and compound paths. clipping paths are not allowed
the lines which i have drawn are connected which i believe have to be in order to use the paint bucket and i have no clipping paths so i am am baffled
i presume it is because the line is set to 0.01 it seems the live paint bucket wont notice thin lines, but i tried makeing the line thicker so i could use the paint bucket and it still doesnt work.

  • Critical errors were found in setup. Please see setup log file for details.

What fixes this problem in IE? I have read a lot of forums with many replies saying they got by it, but they never explain how. One guy posted a link, but the link is dead now.
I need to know how to fix this problem. Only thing I can gather is its a Java issue, but my java is up to date. In fact I just reinstalled it make sure that it was updated.
With as many people having this issue I can't believe I have not found something from Adobe on this issue.
    Regards,
    Scott

I run the setup file and it does the checking system process... then goes into the actual install menu and not more than 10 seconds into that 2nd menu I get "critical errors were found in setup. Please see setup log file for details". That is all I can get out of the install.
The message window that I get the error in indicates windows Internet Explorer.
That is the my entire process. I have searched and found the log file and I have looked through it, but I am having a hard time finding the actual cause of the error. Out of shear frustration I removed all my adobe products and tried the install again and had the same exact problem. So I know there is something stopping me some where... just don't know what it could be.
    Thanks,
    Scott =

  • Critical Errors Were Found in Setup. Please see the Setup Logs for Details

Hello everyone. I have recently gotten Adobe Flash CS4 and i was really happy, until i kept getting the same error whenever i tried to install:
"Critical Errors Were Found in Setup. Please see the Setup Logs for Details"
I do not know what is the cause of the problem, but i have installed Adobe Photoshop CS3 succesfully without any problems. Please do help. I checked the setup logs, but i have no clue what it is saying, and its too long to post here.
Thank you for your time and help.

We've all been there with the frustration.
And I'd really like to see you get back up and running. I'm a bit of an insomniac and tend to go back over the day while I'm pretending to sleep, and a couple of new things filtered back into my mind. There have been, I think, some problems reported about conflicts with some scanner drivers, and of course with firewalls, anti-virus programs, and the like. I think iTunes and instant messengers are also on that list.
Make sure you turn off everything non-essential before trying to do your installation (and I'd probably do the same thing before running the scripts again). I do this by running MSConfig on XP and going to the startup tab. I uncheck everything I can't identify as being essential (which means I pretty much only leave the mouse driver checked. You may need to google some of the stuff to find out what it is) and then go to the services tab and hide all Microsoft services. From what's left I again uncheck everything that isn't required to run the system. Bonjour, if you see it, should be left active as it is used by the CS3 installer. Restart the computer.
This should have turned off pretty much everything that could have been conflicting with the installer. Go to windows security center and make sure the windows firewall is also temporarily turned off, if you use it, and you should be ready to go. It can't hurt to try the add/remove programs again, but it probably won't show any adobe products anymore if you've run the scripts correctly (did you also run the MSI cleanup utility?).
After you've finished, you can run MSConfig again and reset to standard startup.
